not to threadjack, but you know it's an interesting question, especially given as how tolkien says (iirc) that the ringwraiths feared thorondor and the eagles, or at least were evenly matched by them. |

i believe somewhere in the book its addressed, and the eagles are said to want nothing to do with the fight and quest.

So, I was going to add this to the 'how many five year olds...' thread but the search was timing out.
And these kids look more like 3 to me. I think this guy is going way too far (kicks to head?) but the kids seem to come off pretty much unscathed. |

How'd they do the kicks to the head? Seems like they did everything in reverse, and sped it up a bit.

Seriously. I'm wondering the same thing. And I'm pretty sure over the next week, I'm going to get pissed about something and yell "Bob Saget." edit: BTW, I'm not an expert of anything, but the one person I've been around with Tourette's (he worked at the local grocery store where I lived for many years) behaved totally different. Most notable, he made a whooping sound and his profanity was random and not in the midst of coherent sentences. So, does this guy actually have Tourette's or is he just a freak?

I read someplace that "Tourette's Guy" just died. I have no idea if it's true or not, but that's the word going around right now.

snopes has some info about whether his actions are related to Tourette's and they mention his death at the end.

I was laughing really, really hard as well... especially the "tit dirt" part. The part where his wife threw a bowl at him and made him pick up whatever was in it and STILL yelled at him, I just couldn't get into it. The yelling didn't even seem real... sounded more like bad acting. |

'Yo Mama's on Crack Rock', and the text scrolling along the bottom of the video, should be recognizable to any child of the late '80s/early 90s whose regional cable system carried 'the box' or similar pay-to-play video jukebox channels.
The concept was based on viewers calling up a 900 number and requesting videos for like $1.95 charged to your phone bill. Of course this was before the days of on demand, so you'd have to watch two hours of crappy videos just to watch the crawl go by, waiting to see if they had any videos you wanted to order and what the corresponding number was, then you'd have to call in your order and watch another couple hours of horrible videos before your video made into the rotation. If you were 14 and on summer break, this was an acceptable waste of time for me and 4 or 5 of my friends. This was also at the time when MTV had just started to realize the potential of their network outside of music videos, so 'the box', and its like, became viable alternatives to MTV for the one or two years that they managed to stay afloat. They would also air lots of videos that MTV wouldn't, either because of questionable content, or questionable quality, with 'Your Mama's On Crack Rock' being an excellent example of both. You could see videos for great indie bands that would never made the cut on MTV, and you also got lots of bad low-quality soul, mostly the abysmal 'New Jack' variety of that era, as well as an interesting variety of indie rap, a lot of which was the horrendous, yet popular, miami 'booty' bass. Aside from allowing young artists the ability to musically question the rock smoking proclivities of an associate's family member, this low-budget arena actually generated some surprisingly big hits. Vanilla Ice's notorious 'Ice Ice Baby' was just an offensively bad video and song that would never make it past any sort of producer or critic or anybody with a lick of sense, but for a few months it was on 'the box' every 20 minutes and eventually the rest of the pop-culture world took notice...and we were all the better for it. 'Ice Ice Baby' in all of it's glory: Of course the kings of the 'booty' rap (and oh, what a title that is) was Miami's 2 Live Crew, and I remember their vids being all over 'the box'. People ate this crap up, and I really don't know how you could rap worse over crappier music, but hey, I was probably paying $1.95 to watch some crappy Fishbone video, so I can't complain too much. Luke and the Crew: Half Pint's 'One Leg Up' was another example of crappy 'Miami bass' that was just unavoidable at the time. Getting stuck in a car owned by a friend who was an 'Booty Bass' aficionado was slow and painful torture, rattling violently from a sparkomatic tape deck and a pair of self-installed dime store speakers. Enjoy Half Pint's masterpiece: Not all southern rap of that period was bad though. New Orleans' Geto Boys come to mind as an (occasional) example of some of the good stuff that came out of that era and area. First off, they had the notorious Bushwick Bill, a midget in a featured role, which ups the degree of difficulty considerably. Scarface has a remarkable flow, especially for the time, and Willie D just yells and yells, but in the best of way. Although it was, unfortunately, somewhat rare, the Geto Boys could make a killer song...and when they didn't, they were often hilarious (although not always intentional). The excellent 'My Minds Playing Tricks on Me': ...and mom told me my Masters in bad southern rap of the early 90's would never come in handy. Pffft. Wow! I haven't heard this song in years. It was one of those songs that had a deeper meaning even though I don't think it was their original intentions. Now did you actually write that or did you copy that from somewhere, because that was an entertaining piece of work.

Oh, that was all me and off the top of my head! Admittedly, I have real trouble stringing together two sentences relating to any topic of any actual worth, but I can expound on the virtues of crap music of the early 90s , H.R. Puffnstuff, or John Hughes movies all week long. I actually still listen to the Geto Boys to this day. That album, 'We Can't Be Stopped' still stands up well....and is hilarious. There's a song on there ('fuck a war') that's a real trip: Quote:
That song is nearly twenty years old, yet still applies perfectly today. |
