About 80% of the time I put on a tie, I get it right the first time.
If, however, I get it wrong (too long, too short, etc.), then I generally need three or four tries to get it right. Basically, once the automatic system fails and I have to think about it, it becomes much much harder. |

About 100% of the time I start to put on a tie, I stop myself midway through and say, "WTF am I wearing a damn tie for?" I then rip it off and go on with my life.

Anyone heard of topix? It's basically a website where you can post about things going on in your community. There's one for my home town..where most posts turn into people anonymously posting about each other, who's the hottest girl in HS, druggies, or whatever. I find myself getting angry just reading it...not about the comments, but about the constant stupidity I see on there.

Yep. The town where I live has a very pleasant topix board. The town where I work's topix board is a complete cesspool of the worst kind.

Also, it's easy to role eyes at somebody who is a fan of a team and they say "we won," but it really grinds me if it's for a school they never went to.

Grantland piece on the Malice at the Palace was really good.
It is interesting to read some of that stuff like Ron Artest in the locker room afterwards asking others if they thought they were going to get into trouble for it. |

Yesterday was fun around here. Interesting to see Reed Timmer tweeting all the counties around where you live and telling people to seek shelter. The worst stuff went just south of Lexington/Fayette County yesterday, but we still got in on our share of the tornado warnings.

OK, I know twitter is limited to 140 characters and all, but given the subject matter, I really think some acronyms should be re-thought:

Nothing to do with the franchise.
This adapted from a book. It has Z in the title.

And NTO is the winner.
Just kidding. I can not confirm nor deny that HB is correct or not.

My pain doc wants me to go on a new new medicine, a new "designer" drug. My insurance doesn't cover it, so if I paid out of pocket, it would be about $500/month.
I have good insurance (well, decent). I can't imagine how people who don't have insurance deal with this insanity. /tk

I picked up NCAA Football 2009 this past weekend when I saw it for $1 at a game xchange. I am actually pleasantly surprised at how much better it is than the older NCAA games I played and got really sick of. Without messing with sliders or any of that crap, I feel like I'm having some fun playing something that strongly resembles football without obvious scripted fumbles and the like. I'm sure if I play long enough, I will encounter crap like that, but color me shocked so far.
Also was pretty surprised at the graphics quality. I expected better after playing the NCAA 2012 demo. I mean it's not bad, but it is certainly not even in the same neighborhood. I realize they are 3 years apart, but I still expected better. |

I played that version a fair amount, and it's decent. I think the major problems with that game, IIRC, are the pursuit angles and the ease at which you can run the option. Basically, any runner who gets outside, or anyone who gets an INT or fumble with a clear field will end up scoring. I think that's the version where at least half the INTs I threw ended up getting returned for TDs.

I throw like 4 interceptions a game (LOL) but I've never had one returned for a TD. Probably just not a clear enough field in front, but that seems ok to me, since he probably should score with a clear field. I'm sure the warts will show up eventually, like I said though. I can imagine what you are saying about getting outside being a big thing, for sure, too. Definitely worth a dollar Last edited by MJ4H : 03-02-2012 at 09:53 AM. |

I will confirm it, since HB is pretty much always correct about pretty much everything. Just how that dude rolls.

I think they fixed, to some extent, the pursuit angles with 11 and even moreso with 12. Basically, you hit the sideline, or even a seam through the line and beyond the LBs, and the DBs run for where you are, not where you're going, so you're either tackled early or never. If you've got a guy with any speed, he's gone. But while those warts show up, the game was fun. Definitely worth $1.

Aha. I did hit a seam up the middle in my first dynasty game against an FCS team and kind of noticed the pursuit angles were bad. Chalked it up to it being an FCS team. Didn't hit any seams up the middle against Bama or Texas though |

I think I knew this, but I didn't realize how the United States was kind of alone in this.
Here, it isn't mandatory to receive paid vacation for work, but the standard is usually two weeks. The rest of the modern world it seems like four weeks minimum with it often being more, and it seems to be mandatory. That made me sad for some reason. |

Yup. Our employers here in the US do not have to give us paid time off for vacations and the US is definitely one of the stingiest, if not the stingiest when it comes to how much vacation time we get. I'm actually insulted when I start a new job and they only want to give me two weeks vacation. Umm....I didn't just start working, I've been working since I was 18. I ask for a minimum of 3 weeks to start off with. If they don't give it to me, then I ask for a higher wage. If I don't get either, I don't accept the job. Not that I've had to do that more than once though.
