Watched the first episode of "The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret." It's an IFC show, and if the rest hold up as good as the first one does, it will be fantastic.

Really enjoyed the 1st season of Sons of Anarchy, much to my surprise. One of those shows that's been on my radar for a long time and I just basically ran out of other shit to watch. Glad I finally came around.

Watched the first season of this tonight, absolutely great. David Cross plays Todd Margaret, who through a series of misunderstandings and lies gets hired to go to London to sell energy drinks by the abusive owner of his company who is played by Will Arnet. |

Watched "Please Vote for Me". A 60ish minute documentary about how 3rd or 4th graders (forget which) are allowed to vote for class monitor for the first time. The campaign ends up like many of our campaigns and it's really fascinating. Definitely recommend.

This is one that has been on the back burner for me too. I need to watch it. Another one that sat in my queue for a long time was Breaking Bad. Just watched the first three seasons and wow, that show is great. |

Yea, it's not something I'd watch as I'm going to bed. It's an amazing series, and I've kind of made it tradition to watch it the week before Opening Day. But it will knock you out pretty quick. It's kind of like a book. |

Chasing Ghosts - about the Twin Galaxy arcade in the 80's - not quite as good as King of Kong, but interesting. Also season 6 of Doctor Who is up.

The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret
One of the rare times I didn't like something, and I stuck with it just to give it a chance. The last two episodes for season one helped solidify things though.

I listened to a review/recap by JD on the Howard Stern show and that was quite enough. It was an entertaining listen, a good way to get a sense of the insanity that is Human Centipede 2 without actually having to watch it - I believe it's on youtube if anyone's interested. |

Hey I was wondering if someone could help me. I have a ROKU2 XS steaming to my Samsung tv. The picture quality is HD and sound is good. But when there's a lot of movement it looks like it blurs. Kinda like it can't keep up.
My speed test is 54 mbit/sec and upload is 9. I don't get it. Oh btw it's a wired connection. Last edited by frnk55 : 04-22-2012 at 01:47 PM. |

I'd assume you have the motion plus 120hz setting on...perhaps adjust that setting. That's a really nice model. It may just be the signal quality for certain models.

Just watched Breathing Room last night. Its one of those movies like Cube, Exam, Nine Dead, etc. where a bunch of people wake up & have no idea where they are or why they are there.
This was definitely the weakest movie of that ilk. I don't recommend it unless you (a) love those types of movies & don't mind B- acting...and (b) enjoy being annoyed by gaping wide plot holes. |

When I watched AppleTv streaming content on my sister's fancy LCD TV with 240hz, I couldn't take it. It looked like everything was filmed with a handheld. The picture was just unnatural it the extreme. I have no issues on my plasma. My guess was that it was all of the special processing to create the frames for the additional hz. While it looks like you've already addressed that are there any other settings you have activated like a sports/game mode or "smoothing" that might supplement the motion setting. |

I am sure that this isn't a secret but Monk is on Netflix instant and is definitely a fun show. My wife and I watched the whole series (7 seasons or so) over a 3 month period a few years back. We left wanting more.

"Drive" is on netflix. I enjoyed it though I thought Gosling's character wasn't cool like Steve McQueen, more like detached and robotic. While I assume that he becoming friendly with the single mom and child allowed him to become more human, I just wasn't buying it.
Still for a noir film, it was beautifully shot, and while the outcome was rather linear(by linear I mean straightforward in its story), it was still enjoyable to me. I did enjoy Albert Brooks as the bad guy (shoulda been nominated) though and man is Ron Perlman an UGLY mofo.
Spoiler
Edit: fixed a grammar issue and explained linear a little better.

Drive is pretty divisive everywhere. People seem to either love it and think it's genius or hate it. It's just one of those films. For whatever reason, I am in neither camp. I liked it well enough and enjoyed it, but didn't necessarily love it.

I saw mention of "Drive" being up on Netflix and went to check it out. It was a movie that I was really interested in when it first came out, to where I was about to go see it myself on a random day, but something came up last minute.
I was amazed that I couldn't get through it, and I ended up shutting it off about halfway through. Outside of the opening scene, I was ridiculously bored. I think the love interest storyline with the neighbor got introduced way too quickly and that threw it off for me. And I personally like Gosling as an actor, so it's not some sort of vendetta in my case. |

Legend of the Seeker. I wasn't especially familiar with the books, but the series was good enough to make me check it out. I've skipped around the first season, but on the whole, I've been enjoying the characters a lot.

It's only got 2 days left, and I saw it here because of previous recommendations, but Ip Man was fantastic. Some of the best martial arts action sequences in any movie I've seen.

30 for 30 showed me how much the talent of a documentary maker matters. I always thought that the subject matter had more to do with it. I was wrong.
You recommend Winning Time. And you are right. That is a GREAT documentary. And the subject seemed so stupid: those few years when Reggie Miller and the Pacers met the Knicks in the Eastern Conference playoffs--with neither team winning a title. I mean, who cares, right? But, wow. Just watch it. It is a ton of fun. On the flip side, the 30 for 30 to which I was most looking forward was the one on the birth of Fantasy Baseball. I mean, how could that not be an amazing documentary? Well, watch it. It wasn't. Cool that they are on Netflix now so I can see some that fell through the cracks. |

The 30 for 30s rock. Happy to see them. My recommendation is Run Ricky Run which is. A piece on Ricky Williams and mostly centers on his stepping away from the game.
