Sad to see what happened to him he is an awesome defensive player. Let's pray he recovers.

I feel like this game is largely one of penalties and missed field goals.

One tweak I'd suggest for the new kickoff rule is that every penalty assessed during the touchdown or field-goal process should optionally be marked off after the kickoff concludes.

ETA: is there some sort of recognized condition where you begin to develop ptsd over the yellow square appearing in the bottom right corner of the screen after a play?

They do need to do something; right now there is little disincentive to being penalized before a kickoff if receiving.

Also, I suspect Adams will have some sort of hamstring rejuvenation treatment that will allow him to make a miraculous recovery once he lands in NY.

Makes sense. Once you fire Salah, you are all in on Rodgers being the QB/coach/GM of the team. He wants Adams? You get him Adams.

I don't think it will work out, but at least there's a commitment to the direction they are going.

Today's viral Jerry Jones exchange on his weekly show reminded me of kids making fun and laughing at one kid in the school yard and then the kid being made fun of spots the one kid he knows he can beat up and says to that kid in a threatening manner "I know YOU aren't laughing."

Poor one out for Garrett Wilson owners in fantasy. He's going to start running cardio while Rodgers goes back to his boys in Adams and Lazard.

Wilson leads the NFL in targets by quite a lot, yet only generates 6.0 yards per target. The Jets went all-in on getting Rodgers there. Either the problem is relying on a Hall of Fame quarterback who is about to turn 41 and just can't process the game fast enough (very likely) or it's needing a bigger version of Wilson in Adams (less likely).

A third (or a second, depending) is a lot to pay for 11 games from an old wide receiver (he's 31, which is getting up there for receivers) who wasn't playing fair with the Raiders. But if the 41-year-old is saying this is his last rodeo and that's what he wants, you go out and get it.

I'm not sure that's the end for Wilson. He's far too good not to use as that little slot guy who has a nose for the ball. What stands out with the Jets is that only two teams (Chicago and Dallas) are getting less production on running plays not involving the quarterback. His production will decline, but he'll also get matched up against nickel corners he can handle better.

Agreed 100%. I feel it's this year or never. Rodgers hasn't looked very good, and presumably next year he'll be worse. Right now your path to a championship threads the needle of stuff breaking in your favor and playoff opponents having below-par games.

Oof. Sorry, Jets fans.

The Browns used the void-season cap trick with Cooper to get $15 million in cap room this season. Now they turn around, months later, and take on $15 million more in dead cap space next season.

Basically an admission that the season is lost. It is, with Watson producing less than four yards per drop-back, which includes a sack rate that has him on pace to obliterate David Carr's NFL record as a rookie in 2002.

For fun, imagine if the Browns cut Watson, taking on an additional $173 million in dead cap space next year to go along with the now-$22 million they'll lose from the Cooper contract extensions?

Great move for the Bills. This is exactly what they needed.

How does that even work with pre-production meetings and the like? Announcers are always talking about their meetings with coaches, etc. before the games.

Why would a coach give any valuable info to the owner of another team?

He is going to be under league rules for what access he can have and what he is allowed to say. In other words, he is going to be a sucky announcer.

Example: "According to ESPN, Brady wouldn’t be allowed to be in another team’s facility. That means offices, practice fields, meeting rooms, etc. During game weeks, the TV crews are allowed behind the scenes. They get practice access and private interviews with coaches and players to enhance the telecast. Brady would get none of that and wouldn’t even be allowed in production meetings via Zoom."

I also saw that he is not allowed to criticize any officials or players. Basically, this is what the NFL has always wanted. A literal owner and 100% company man telling the fans what they are actually seeing and hearing.

The Browns are apparently planning to construct a new $2.4 billion dome and associated project next to the Cleveland Airport (Hopkins International) for 2029 (once Watson's contract has expired). It's about 10-15 miles west of the city. The current stadium is on the lakefront in downtown Cleveland.

As with the Chicago project, this promises to be a battle. There's something called the "Modell Rule" about moving outside of a city. And the city was working on putting together a $1.2 billion renovation project for the existing stadium.

I suppose it's a matter of this new trend of building a destination rather than working with an existing downtown. More money if you run all the restaurants and convention support. But the city has a small airport right next to the existing stadium, and was apparently willing to commit to develop this alongside the existing stadium renovation.

It would be interesting to see the area around Hopkins developed. It's much more accessible for the region (like the planned Chicago area stadium, which fell through). Downtown Cleveland isn't a huge draw, and it's hard to get to. But they have a great lakefront area, and developing the old airport could make that a destination if they can improve access.

The new site is just semi-abandoned industrial, quite a distance from the lake, and right on the border of Hopkins.

I'm assuming everyone is trying to do the Atlanta Braves model. I know that's taken hold in MLB. It's like a mini-town around the stadium that they rent out. It's cool, and I assume a huge moneymaker.

Reinsdorf might be putting the White Sox up for sale after a failed attempt to get the city/county/state to pay most of the cost of a new place, and the initial bidding group is going to include Dave Stewart who has been active in trying to get an expansion team for Nashville. So this is either part of a "hold them hostage" situation, or Stewart's group would look to build the destination in Nashville after (I presume) the league gives him, finance partners, and whomever would be supply public funds the wink/nod treatment.

One factor limiting the town approach is Hopkins. While it's only the 46th busiest airport in the country, it still handles about five million passengers a year, and there are plenty of flights in and out.

I don't think this project can work without a dome over everything. There are wind conditions in which planes are taking off within a few hundred feet of the planned site, heading over it. I don't think jets (or Aaron Rodgers) use that runway, since it's shorter than the main one, but it's there.

I don't like the Battery (and it takes a bit to get there from the Brookhaven/Decatur area, but I see the appeal. I know a ton of people who just go there on random evenings to bar hop and eat. Also, the Roxy is there with some nice concerts, so I'll be the Battery is a massive money maker.

I enjoyed it, as an out-of-towner. We paid for parking right off the main street and got out of there in no time. Cool place to walk around for a while before the game. Didn't buy anything, of course, but something to do before the game.

If money is no object, it is fine. But everything is so damn expensive. Meanwhile, $2 hotdogs, free soda refills, cheap beer. Train to the stadium. Mercedes is a better experience.

7th game, yadda yadda... I've seen enough. His mechanics are horrible. In theory he can be coached up but realistically, he's not a starting QB. Payton's ego is going to make him ride with Nix longer than he should.
