My man crush for Beltre continues to grow. Hit a 400 foot home run last night dropping down to one knee!

It would seem a suspension at this point in the season wouldn't have much effect on the organization. The minors are over, no trades will happen, extensions are mostly if not all done, etc.

So let's check in on the team with the "ridiculously easy" schedule. They should just about have a playoff spot locked up.

Somebody please take away Casilla's jersey so Bochy doesn't even have the option to use him.

This bullpen is a joke. An actual save would be more shocking than a blown one at this point.

And there it is folks! The Reds pitching staff gave up homer number 241 last night, setting a new record for MLB. Take a bow, shitty pitchers, take a bow.

I am seriously struggling with Vin retiring. I'm glad he's been healthy for so long and we're all blessed to be able to enjoy him to the end, but I'm just not ready for the end yet. Over 30 years, 75+% of my life, I've been listening to him when I could. I refuse to accept this change in my life.

Soria's ears must have been burning. He blows the 15th game this year for the Royals. If we have someone else in there that could manage to not blow even half those games, the Royals would be in the playoffs. Yikes.

I'm not sure that the Royals can bring him back. The fans are ready to deal with him in a very harsh manner at this point.

LA photo is great. For the first time in this endless division winning streak they seem like a United, fired up, loose team. If true, I wonder if it's no Donnie, kemp, zack, neutered puig...or just Dave Roberts.

why would you dread such a thing? Given the Mets injuries of late, and the Giants bullpen of late, I think they will get into the playoffs. They have to get by the Cubs to get to the WS, which probably isn't going to happen.

Gary Sanchez and Trea Turner are must see TV at this point. I can't think of two rookies who have had the kind of impact they have.

Sanchez is now at 19 HR, with 3 multi HR games, in 43 total and has an OPS of 1.153.

Turner is at 12 HR, 7 3B, 13 2B, 27/31 SB (4th in the NL if he qualified), in 63 games and has an OPS of .942 while learning CF.

Ender Inciarte went over the wall to end the game and rob Yoenis Cespedes of a walk off home run. If the Braves get 2 more wins, they somehow avoid 100 losses.

Vin Scully won a lifetime achievement award in 1996, twenty years ago. Let that sink in for a moment.

A few minutes ago I read the "oral history" piece ESPN did on him.

The last line in it is about Rick Monday being on the verge of tears when talking about "the last inning". And that's pretty much my reaction to even thinking about him not being on the air ... from the opposite side of the country mind you.

He's about as big a national treasure as we've had for the better part of a century afaic. Unique, and simply the greatest of all-time.

I was at the game and had really good seats at field level. I saw the jump he got at the crack of the bat and knew with 100% certainty he was getting that ball even as people around me were celebrating.

Two things lost in that game: Cespedes is fucking amazing. Worth every penny of the monster deal he will get. Just missed a go-ahead HR the inning earlier on top of the potential walk-off. And Collins is horrific at managing an expanded lineup.

What always hits me is looking at the Dodgers starters Scully's first year as an announcer:

I fell asleep in the 10th of Mets/Phils but caught up on it this morning. Unbelievable finish especially in the context of Cespedes getting robbed the night before. Cabrera has been amazing especially since he came off the DL.

This team in its current form should probably be closer to double digits back for the WC. There were 4 major leaguers in the lineup last night.

What a run for the Red Sox to end the season. 10 days ago I was a dirty bar near my house and a biker named "Oatmeal" bought us a round of beers. A few minutes later Hanley Ramirez hit a home run to beat the Yankees after they had been down 5-1. The Red Sox haven't lost since. Obviously there's a correlation.

Highest % of matchup in the World Series is Cubs Vs Red Sox. While that would be a fun one, it would be crazy if it was Cubs vs Indians.

Goodness. No outs in the top of the first inning and Detroit already has someone warming up in the bullpen. Not sure I've ever seen that before.

Royals have hit for the cycle in their first four at-bats.

Edit: Just pulled the starter after five batters. Line: 0 IP, 4 ER, 5 H

Finally got one out. Annabel Sanchez now warming up. I KNOW I've never seen two pitchers warm up with only one out recorded in a game.

It got dusty in Miami when Dee Gordon led off the game with a home run.
