I believe I have them in my Final Four.

Totally my own fault, but still annoying.

got an email from my daughter's mother a few weeks ago. she wrote nothing. just forwarded a bill from the school for a deposit on the dorm. i wrote my daughter about it & she just said "Oh... yeah the deposit is due sadly. I'm sorry!"

Sent her half the deposit, even though I really can't afford it.

Haven't heard anything since.

She did, however, contact my sister & ask if she can live with her over the summer if her mom sells their house & moves in with her boyfriend.

She's also on the borderline of flunking out of college.

I'm so damn close to telling her that as an adult, if she wants money... get a damn job.

I'm in a weird position. It's 84 degrees here and I feel like I should crank on the A/C for a bit. On the other hand I feel like a complete loser for turning on the A/C in March in Chicago.

I need to call overseas tonight (ideally).

Apparently I don't have overseas calling on my cellphone (WTF??)

And you can only add credits in $10 increments to Google Voice.

Grrrr.

Yeah - I checked. You have to buy $10 worth of credits there too.

And I know I'd basically never use $10 worth of credits, so it'd be like paying $10 to make one phonecall, which is just silly. Maybe I'll just wait and try to reach him next week.

For some reason it won't let me dial it on my cellphone.

I guess I don't have an international plan or something?

If I drank a beer everytime I saw the Bud Light Pitbull commercial, Id be passed out by now.

As it stands, Im putting a March Madness ban on Bud light and all A-B products until they can justify their advertising budget with more than that stale spot and the wee-go dog.

I have to question the wisdom of that spot in the day games too. The Atlanta ratings showed that about 60% of the audience for the day session yesterday was over the age of 35 and that P50+ outnumbered P18-34 for most of the day as well.

Basically they're running a spot where it seems likely that at least half the audience has no idea WTF a pitbull is (unless it's the Michael Vick kind).

I seriously thought a pit bull was something you made by mixing Bud Light with something else. I had to look it up (yep, I'm over 35)

Although I have heard the music in the background. I heard it originally in Europe, loved the original but that wasn't by Pitbull. I assume he used that music as his own background?

I am so sick of the Irish. The way they're always in your face with their green beer and their cheesy proverbs. And their whiny music. They're always "shamrock this!" and, "shamrock that!" And oh my god, the public urination. It's not just on St. Patrick's Day.

What am I missing about this movie? It looks like your typical "tweenager saves the world" fare. Is that really all it takes these days?

The commercials make me think of The Running Man except replace Arnold with a Teenager and with no Jesse Ventura.

There's gotta be more to it than that, I assume

Nice sized following due to a well received book series. The book series has sold over 2.6 million copies. Spent 100 weeks on the best seller list and the author is now the best selling author on the Kindle. Initial reports are they are staying true to the series so it has a solid chance of being good. I know next to nothing about the actual series, but I do know it's worth at least checking into and maybe seeing at some point.

Not really. Running Man with a teenager is pretty much the best summary of the first book (the only one I read) there is. The book was...okay. Not horrible, nothing spectacular. It didn't inspire me to run out and buy the next two (I borrowed the first from a coworker), but it wasn't bad.

The books are a great series of books. The 2nd and 3rd books are very good. The 1st book is 10 times better than very good.

Also note the series is obviously defined as a young adult series so it doesn't have to have the highest ceiling in terms of depth either.

It's similarly popular to Twilight except without emo vampires and it features a really good cast of actors.

In short: post-apocalyptic world where the population is divided into sections. Every year a boy and girl from each section is chosen to participate in the Hunger Games, fights to the death. The winner is showered with rewards such as food.

And why again are we still using QWERTY keyboards when it was basically created to prevent typewriter jams?

The only thing I hate being more than sick is using my time off when I am sick. My company doesn't have sick days, it is all earned time, which I actually like. The problem is I refuse to use any of my time if I am sick since I would rather us it for vacation.

Hence I just spent my lunch choking down half a bowl of soup then sleeping in my car.

80 degrees outside. Just murdered my entrance test for Nursing school. Final grades posted for the previous quarter and got my first 4-point since returning to school. Turned in my application for the Nursing program and was told I'm pretty much a lock in a really competitive program.

Days like this don't happen too often, but god damn does it feel good.

Yeah, I hate presentee-ism. You don't have a right to make everyone else at your work sick so I definitely like when PTO and vacation are separated out.
