No, there is 1 particular item that they sell that I have been trying to get for days. It has been in multiple sells in the past, has not appeared in about 3 days. I figure this way I have another shot at it if it does not appear at the next sale.

i'm starting to wonder if Daystar is as awesome as my K-G was. Maybe it's just moving in and fighting harder monsters, but the K-G seemed more effective than Daystar.

As an aside (mentioned in the Empire: Total War thread) - anyone who hasn't DL'd the Westeros: Total War mod for Medieval II is missing out.

Sweet, killed a beholder. Just a tip for prospective beholder-killers out there:

Each of the eyestalks can cast a different spell and the giant central eye casts anti-magic, preventing you from casting any spells, using any scroll and wands, and using any potions.

Pretty damn insane.

I consider the beholder to be the 2nd most powerful monster in the dungeon, next to the dragon.

As soon as I read the above paragraph, I thought I was dead. Not that I'm putting down the not-seen-as-of-yet dragon, but it's hard to believe that it's stronger than that. Or maybe I just perceive that I match up better vs. the dragon.

I think I can potentially be fighting the dragon this afternoon using my horse figurine. This will almost certainly ding me level 10. So basically, by tonight, I think I will be level 10 and a champion or dead.

Interesting. I think we may be meeting in the same room, but I don't think we'll find a dragon there. However I could of course be wrong...

Yep. The nice thing about the anti-magic from the beholder is that I still have all my spells available, so this is a rare moment in the black bricks when I can use a horse figurine (which is why I think warriors have been so powerful this go around...once the rewards start allowing for purchasing a lot of healing, only horse figurine availability prevents them from getting more xp with double moves, while spell casters can't due to spell availability).

Let's go get us some dragon then!

Call it a hunch, but I don't think it will be there. If it is, you'll actually get first dibs at it since you're a warrior, so if you don't beat it, at least weaken it a good bit please.

What room are you coming from to get there?

Again only a hunch, but I think KWhit was able to boost his xp a bit by having the only access to the Efreet sale and buying figurines there.

Gotta run for now.

A 5th level mage can waltz into the darkest area and clean house with the right spell selection. He can kill virtually every monster there at level 6.

Now, the Beholder is there as one way to stop a Mage from just dominating every fight. Tough to win with Magic Missile and Acid Arrow and Lightning Bolt when you can't cast them.

There are other ways too. Some monsters are hard for fighters, like those with speical attacks like Wyvern and Basilisk. Some are hard for mages, like those who attack multiple times. Some are hard for clerics, like undead who are immune to cause and harm damage, etc.

But a mage is the most powerful class at the higher levels, bar none. I make no mistake or apology about that they are blisteringly effective even with the wrong spell choice they are powerful.

We'll see in the aftermath what the classes are that win. If its cleric, cleric, bard, fight fight, that may not tell us much. If its cleric, cleric, cleric, warrior warior, that may say something. If its cleric, warrior, bard, artificer and paladin that'd be interesting.

I will concur on this, it's been fun lately, it's just a shame if I'm too far behind to get in the top five.

Hmm. So I was about to post it, when I realized that I was vortexed here! I guess that explains why the thing attacked me and not ntn. Although it doesn't explaing why my ring of animal friendship didn't work -- I guess this griffin didn't count as an animal technically, or something.

So nice digs you got here -- can you give me a tour?
