Ever since Beijing put on one of the most spectacular coordinated displays in human history at the 2008 Olympic opening ceremony, observers have wondered how London could possibly improve on it. This would be a start.

Organizers for the 2012 ceremony recently asked the manager of The Who if legendary drummer Keith Moon would be able to perform at the London Games. It was a fine idea, except that Moon has been dead for 34 years.

The only thing would have made that funnier is if they asked him to play for the high dive competition.

Reading the waiver for the Dorrell woman that Bobby Petrino (currently on the SI website) the first line made me think.

"I would like to offer to this candidate. Out of the candidates, she had the best experience and we felt like she would be the best fit for this position."

You think he snickered like a school boy when he typed that?

Full knowing I was getting money back, I delayed until today to do my taxes. The one benefit of being unemployed for half of a year with paying for schooling and paying taxes on a house is that the government loves to give you a big tax return. Kind of answers when I want to get a Kindle Fire.

Saw this on facebook - the titanic broke in half exactly 100 years ago from the moment of this post......it was another 2 hours before the first rescue boat got there. That was a long couple of hours.

It also didn't sink as it did in the movie. It sunk straight down.

Alien is on Cinemax. This pleases me greatly.

Also: I've noticed that just about every softcore porn flick on the various movie channels stars the same "actress"

Business must be good for her.

Just chilling late at night listening to some records and I hear the line "And though my heart will fight until till it's dyeing breath, you're not for me".

And now I am immeasurably sad.

I haven't had pierogi for ages. My Polish mother is now in a nursing home so I definitely don't get the chance to have them very often.

I found a bakery/deli near her nursing home that has frozen pierogi for sale. I bought 4 pounds of them as well as some frozen gołąbki. I have been pigging out on them for the last week or so. I even emailed a photo of them to my brother - who was incredibly jealous.

I hate Taxes, this is a pain in the ass...combined with the fact that at my past job I was pretty adept at moving my deductions from the 1st half of the year to the 2nd half to eliminate burden I was pretty good at breaking even and not having to pay or getting anything back...well, they laid me off the 2nd half of the year so I couldn't maneuver...I am cutting uncle sam a nice check...

No. Her nursing home is run by the Polish community in Sydney so she gets a Polish based diet as it is. Besides she's not in a position to cook/heat the food anyway.

Yeah, I like them fried and crunchy too. Others like them softer with fried onion on them.

When I was in Poland last year, my cousin fried some up for me and offered some thickened cream on the side. I had never seen this before but, by golly, they were nice!

I don't think that I've ever gotten a Nigerian Prince email that was such a soft sell:

It's Earth Day - the Earth's Birthday!

So, apparently either the Earth or Earth Day are 400 today. Both of those seem a smidge off.

Great, now the Intartubez are going to have to wash out the taste of been-dead-for-15-and-a-half-years hologram dick.

Reading 4 posts about dicks makes Grover's post hilarious. Though, not so much on it's own.

I got around to watching the new Muppets movie tonight, that was fun, put me in a good mood and such. You know, everyone's so positive, singing songs and whatnot.

Went to return the movie to the Albertson's redbox and saw the damnedest thing in the parking lot. Right in front, the fire lane basically, where a lot of people stop to pick people up/drop people off/return redbox movies, there's two trucks facing each other. Each is refusing to budge. There's swearing at each other, and there's an Albertson's employee pleading for them to move. The amazing thing is - there's PLENTY of room for either of them to back up 2 feet and then go around. But no, it's a stand-off! It's kind of like that Seinfeld episode, but at least that confrontation was over an actual Manhattan parking spot - this confrontation was over nothing at all. One driver had a 3-foot long white beard and appeared to be mentally ill. I didn't see the other driver, but I can only assume that he was a mentally ill asshole as well. Amazing.

Anyway, the moral here obviously is - muppets rule, people suck.

I was pushing my grocery cart to my car today. I stopped to get my keys out in an open area and the guy behind me stops. I look back at him checking to see if he's going to go around. He just gives me this looks like he's flabbergasted that I stopped, and he's waiting for me to go again. You know, as if he simply can't go around me in an open parking lot.

I read this post first upon opening the thread. I imagined a guy with a cart behind you. Then thought it was probably a car as the other seemed even more absurd. I've come to the conclusion I like the cart thing I envisioned more, but have a hard time convincing myself of this. My head is starting to hurt I'm trying so hard, I've got to go to bed know because of this post. Not my post, your post.
