Yes, the Trump-Bannon thing should be fascinating and very entertaining.

Per some reports, Wolff has tapes of his interviews with Bannon.

No way they get to the point of filing a lawsuit. Can you just imagine what would come out in discovery?

It's going to be fun when the states that have legalized pot stymie any attempts by the feds to enforce those laws - and when juries engage in jury nullification.

This is Jeff "I thought the KKK guys were alright until I learned they smoked pot" Sessions - I'm just surprised it hadn't happened already.

Seems like a horrible issue to do battle on. I thought this was something most of the country didn't worry about anymore? What percentage of the GOP voters care about pot anymore?

That's doable, but I'd like to have that taken out over the course of the year.

My fear, though, is that the IRS won't do it because they want everyone to think that they got a tax break, so they won't actually withhold enough.

So my wife and I had a discussion about this last night and have decided that when the change happens, anything additional in our pay checks is just going into a savings account until we do our 2018 taxes, just to be sure.

If you're reasonably sure of what you'll be paying you can just have a set extra amount withheld from each check so that you don't owe. Like if you assume you're going to be 2K short just have 80ish extra withheld from each check or something

Trump's lawyer sent a cease and desist letter to the publishers of Fire and Fury. The publishers responded by saying that book now won't be released on the 9th. It will be released tomorrow.

This isn't states rights though (from a legal sense). It's the DoJ selectively choosing which federal laws to enforce and how aggressively to do so. Though it looks like a circuit court did halt a federal prosecution back in August, so we'll see Feds Blocked in Attempt to Prosecute Marijuana Growers | L.A. Weekly

It looks like the law in your article only protects medical marijuana growers in my layman's understanding. Actually it blocks funding for the government to prosecute state compliant medical marijuana growers.

Not sure if it will protect recreational growers/sellers/users.

Hey the only thing standing between US independence on foreign oil and not is green tech.........sorry. That's whats standing in between US independence on foreign oil and the oil companies. That is until they get enough alternative infrastructure built so they can run it instead of whomever else. Gotta keep that money train rolling one way or another!

I think trump has played Bannon perfectly. Trump needed him to get elected, now with the Bannon base fanatically loyal to trump, trump is free to piviot to the middle and appeal to the moderates.

I think trump is now more free to support more winnable republicans in primaries, far right or not.
I also think Bannons biggest influence was in those executive orders. I think they be will slowed, as they were largely symbolic.
I also think DACA reform can happen with less reguard to the far right

Trump wants win and is not married to an ideal. It seems following establishment congress will get him more wins

I don't think he has any real policy stances outside of what Fox News says. Not sure what he's going to pivot from.

I also think Bannon's influence is minuscule. I'd wager most people don't even know what Breitbart is or read it regularly.

Trump supports the people that kiss his ass the most.
The executive orders were perfect because Trump is all bluster.
Trump knows nothing about any policy issue.

Wins for Trump mean whatever feels good right now. Working with congress is hard and takes time. Trump won't do anything than he's done already, claim total credit for anything that gets passed.

The US has been a net exporter of oil for awhile now, and regardless it's a global market with transnational corporations. This is giving in to big business over the environment, but we could be "energy independent" tomorrow, it'd just cost us money and hurt the EU a whole lot more.

The irony in this quote from Trump about Wolff's book is unparalleled.

"I consider it a work of fiction," Trump told reporters. "The libel laws are very weak in this country. If they were strong, it would be very helpful. You wouldn't have things like that happen where you can say whatever comes to your head."

All he does is watch TV.

Quote:
On Tuesday, Trump has his first meeting of the day with Chief of Staff John Kelly at 11am. He then has "Executive Time" for an hour followed by an hour lunch in the private dining room. Then it's another 1 hour 15 minutes of "Executive Time" followed by a 45 minute meeting with National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster. Then another 15 minutes of "Executive Time" before Trump takes his last meeting of the day — a 3:45pm meeting with the head of Presidential Personnel Johnny DeStefano — before ending his official day at 4:15pm.
Other days are fairly similar, unless the president is traveling, in which case the days run longer. On Wednesday this week, for example, the president meets at 11am for his intelligence briefing, then has "Executive Time" until a 2pm meeting with the Norwegian Prime Minister. His last official duty: a video recording with Hope Hicks at 4pm.
On Thursday, the president has an especially light schedule: "Policy Time" at 11am, then "Executive Time" at 12pm, then lunch for an hour, then more "Executive Time" from 1:30pm.
