With those two free throws for OSU it seems like they've had a wasted posession.

It's amazing how many of the players throughout this tournament have blown free throws at such crucial times. Reminds you that these are college kids.

I know Oden has four fouls, but at this stage in the game why wouldn't they leave him in for defensive possessions? Isn't he supposed to be the most intimidating presence in the college game?

How can they question that foul call? To me he was all over his back.

And after that last call, I think the Tennessee fans have lost any right to complain about the refs.

How was it bad? Seemed like 90% of the fouls I see.. Defender puts himself in a bad position, fofensive player shoots into it, gets the call.

Seriously. I don't get how that is possibly a bad foul call.

Because both defenders went straight up. He jumped backwards to draw contact with the rear defender (hehe).

I'm asking for someone to explain it.

To me that's basketball. If you're in the air as a defender, and the shooter moves into you in the motion of his shot, that's a foul. That's how it is in every game I ever watch.

The offensive player jumped in from the baseline and into the defender. It's not the defensive player's fault that the guy with the ball has no angle and has to jump back towards him making contact.

Except this time he didn't get contact until he landed. Those usually don't get called.

Well anyway..

If UT loses, they have nothing to blame but poor Free Throw shooting down the stretch.

Uhhh...

Did you watch the replay? They were both in the air, touching, then the OSU player swats down and hits the ball out of the way.

Anyway.

We lost either way.. depressing, but we coughed up a win that was ours.

What a finish. That shot might not have counted anyway (or was at least close), but Oden saw to it that it didn't matter.

They called the push at the landing though. Nothing to do with the guy that blocked the shot. It was a shoddy call to say the least. At least it wasn't a shooting foul.

Yup, exactly.

Ohwell. Still a great season for the Vols and they don't lose much this year, so hopefully another good year next year.

I think we are talking about different plays then. The one I was talking about was the pushing foul called on the defender on the floor. I may have missed a topic change.

I'm pretty confidant they called it on the guy that swatted the ball away.

We're talking about the same shot I think.

It's irrelevant. I was trying to have the discussion to understand basketbsall a bit better as I'm still somewhat new to following it. But for me, it looked like every other foul I see.

Nope, the ref called a push on the guy on the floor...made the pushing motion and everything.

I could swear they called it on the guy at the bottom of the mess.. That's what the uproar was about. If they called the guy going for the block, I can see that. (Even though I don't think he fouled him)

This in general really peeves me off. So many times you see guys take it straight in against bigger defenders and lob up a shot. Sure, you might draw the foul, but an 8 foot pull-up is one of the easiest shots in the world, yet so few guys take it. We used to get it drilled in to us when I was playing high school ball.

Yeah, it was on the guy BEHIND the shot blocker. I couldn't see anything in the call.

And as we've discussed earlier, you probably aren't going to get the foul call even if you should. Better to take the short jumper.

Not to mention that even if you fuck up the shot, you have the chance to catch a good bounce or roll off the rim...and if you really messed it up...you called a bank right?
