Rumor floating here in STL that the Cardinals are at least looking at Soriano, and coincidentally or not, they are pitching Jason Marquis (who might be part of a Soriano package) against the Nats today.

I don't know. The way I see it, if Soriano plays LF this year, he actually increases his value on the free agent market, because if someone wants a 2B who can't field his way out of a plastic bag, but is a good power hitter, it doesn't matter if he played LF this year. He's not going to forget how not to turn the double play, or overthrow the 1B or let the ball go right thru the wickets.

Arroyo can demand a trade at the end of the year since he was traded in the first year of a multiyear contract, I believe. If that is indeed the case, he can at least hope to use it as leverage with the reds to upgrade his current deal.

Nope - that only applies to people who are at least 5 year vets, and Arroyo is not. He's stuck there for 3 years. |

Damn, i thought he was older than that, ESPN shows him as being a 6 year vet, not sure what his situation was in 02 or 03, however. Last edited by stevew : 03-22-2006 at 10:00 AM. |
