I think, apart from the Cover category which I never understood, most all of the legends were picked.

For those who never heard of Keith Moon's legendary toilet exploits:

Keith Moon, Bathroom Bomber

FTFA:
Quote:
Moon’s reign of toilet terror ended only after his untimely death in 1978 at the age of 32, when he overdosed on the prescription medication he was taking to treat his alcoholism. It’s not clear exactly how many toilets he destroyed during his 11-year love affair with cherry bombs; one estimate places the value of all that destroyed porcelain at half a million dollars.

This is tough, there are a ton of great bands in there. I've got a toss-up between Karl, Suicane, Grover and NTO. Julio and Crimson are hard to argue against either though.

I'd like to hear peoples opinions on the bands as constructed even though we might do another one. It's not like we all don't know these guys are good. We're gonna be judged anyway, let's not short thrift this contest.

Agree completely.

I don't think discussion of a potential draft should start until early next week.

I want to see all of us defend our selections and hear outside opinions from those who followed along first.

As much as I loooooove Jack White, I can think of two 21st Century guitarists I'd take over him.

I believe Dave Grohl was the only drummer from the 90's taken. Again, I like him, but he's not near the top for guys during that era.

There's a 90s drummer I want to take in part two of the draft, if we get there.

As far as voters go though, you can't argue with Grohl for name recognition. The awesome thing about Grohl is that you could have put him at drummer, lead singer, lead guitarist or songwriter.

Versatile pick.

If those are two guitar picks you take over Jack White, I would PM you a better pick, but I don't want to give you an advantage. Bonamassa sounds like a guy who can play a technically sound and clean version of the blues, but it doesn't sound like he feels the blues at all.

He feels the blues. Seeing him live was an experience. He gets very, very into it.

Not to mention, he was opening for BB King at 12.

Trucks grew up with the Allman Bros. Band, his uncle was the drummer.

I had considered taking Orianthi for my lead guitarist. She has a pop version of her out there that is very clearly a packaged product, but then she has people like Santana and Steve Vai calling her amazing. After seeing her other stuff on youtube, I would consider her a likely candidate to be the best female guitarist ever at some point in her career, and maybe join the pantheon of great guitarists in history regardless of gender in the next 20 years. In the end I thought Frusciante fit the pop category and allowed me to move from Orianthi to a more well known name, and allowed me to get a much more recognizable female who fit the band better in Slick.

Her stuff is infectious... I don't usually get into the poppy stuff, but her guitar makes it worth listening to.

Marissa Paternoster is a woman with a ton of talent on guitar as well.

And for the re-draft, we should just kill country/hip hop, producer/cover and get on with it, 8 rounds of the leftovers.

Speaking of the Allman Brothers, surprised to see that Duane Allman didn't go. However, it seems like guitar players are runningbacks, with so many good ones out there, from so many different genres.

I don't see the point in not being able to discuss what guys were left off the draft, and I don't think it will spoil anything for the next draft if we do, considering all of the following names below are well known.

With that said, surprised to not see Clapton go at all and he may arguably be the biggest name left out, along with fellow Yardbird Jeff Beck and the aforementioned Duane Allman. But there are tons of other big name big band lead guitarists left out there, from Keith Richards to Randy Rhoads, Kirk Hammett, Tom Morello, etc. and that doesn't even include the instrumental guys such as Santana, Joe Satriani, etc.

My biggest undrafted surprises in general were: Clapton, Morrison, Clemons and Bowie

Strongly considered it, but in the end my common sense took over and said "Fuck Billy Joel."

But really, he'd have been a good songwriter pick too.

he's got a couple good bluesy songs in his middle period like Anthony, and Stiletto. His best album to me is 52nd Street and bits of Nylon Curtain. But really I listened to him in high school and later I found out what REAL rock was all about and have really never gone back. Most of his stuff is just fluff. And OMG I hate Allentown.

Jazz musicians have vastly been ignored hence my comment about Peart being Top 3 for rock drummers and not Top 3 drummer.

Don't even know what that is. But it's the pretentiousness of the song. And I remember when it came out everyone's like "Oh it's a true story. ZOMG it is so sweet. Look at Allentown now, that's our town!" and all that but it's just an ordinary pop song.

Billy Joel is in a list of artists for me that contains:

Bono
Dave Matthews
Billy Joe Armstrong

As people I would like to punch in the face, given the opportunity.

And you know what? Edge too, for playing the same three fucking chords since 1986 on every single track.
