This is how we handle hostage taking in the Philippines...

The Hostage taker took over a bus full of Hong Kong tourists... he let go of 9, and kept 15. The driver managed to escape while the hostage taker was shooting two of the hostages. That leaves 12 supposedly alive. The cops just shot the hostage taker dead, and so far only four hostages have been seen leaving the bus. A couple of civilians also got hit by gunshots coming from inside the bus during the bum-rush.

edit: more people are coming out of the bus. Apparently, 8 hostages are alive.

Picture is from a NINE DAY traffic jam in China which is interesting enough by itself, but this is one of the pictures on Yahoo which I found more interesting.. check out the car that has the statue of liberty and Liberty ..... under it. Probably a company logo, but surprised it would be allowed over there.

It's Libery Mutual Insurance, and no it's not a trademark or copyright violation of any sort.

Great. I'm heading to China for two weeks in December. Good to know what to look forward to on the roads.

It took me about an hour to get from the Tienanmen Square area to just around the 4th ring road (Peking University) in a cab. We are probably talking about what would be a 10-15 minute drive (max) without traffic. It is worse than brutal, and nobody seems to go above 40 even on the highways.

Umm... not sure where copyright comes into play especially in China, but that wasn't what I was referring to. I was talking about the logo even being there in the first place given that it is the Statue of Liberty.

Whereas the logo for Liberty Mutual Insurance is... Michelangelo's "Daivd"? Rodan's "The Thinker"? The Mona Lisa?

WTF?

I was talking about the irony of the image of the Statue of Liberty appearing on a car in communist China.

I didn't jump on you. Don't be so sensitive.

I am all for .gifs being posted here. It fits with the spirit of the thread. Youtube clips have their own thread. Rarely, very rarely, a certain clip may be very relevant or humorous with respect to a certain image or discussion going on here. In that case, an exception may be made.

Random youtube clips? There's already a thread for that.

At least that guy probably didn't have a GF to lose over a foul ball incident.
