I would be pretty amazed if it went for 500. I think 700 is more realistic. I saw something about Steam saying it’ll be priced like a PC and not a console. And unless they want to sell it at a loss and make gains through games sold (believe I also read they don’t want to do this), a small form factor PC like this with its extra engineering costs in the market today (where RAM is skyrocketing) is quite a bit more than $500.

Here's a blast from the past: Steam has the re-release of the Temple on Elemental Evil, a RPG set Dungeons and Dragons canpaign world Greyhawk. It first came out in 2003, but was buggy and had a lot of problems, but now its being re-released with fixes and new content:

It's a shame there was no response to the yearly "giving games" thread I posted, but I've noticed companies are being a lot stricter on when games can be redeemed from Humble Choice, so that wouldn't be a thing going forward anyway (one game from MAY is already expired!)

edit: Creative Assembly (makers of the Total War series) have a major announcement tonight during the Game Awards. It's widely believed by the fandom that it will be Total War: Warhammer 40k, but a second choice would be Total War: Star Wars.

I had to joke that if they ever did make Total War: Star Wars, the preorder bonus should be two extra Hutt Cartels, but if you don't pre-order, then you have to pay more for it.

Why? The Reaction.

Because everyone would snap when they hear the Hutt Hutt Hike.

They just announce a new Star Wars game. STMtar Wars: Fate of The Old Republic. The Old Republic games were some of my favorite games ever. Unfortunately my guess is this will be sonm kind of first person shooter type game and leave me right out.

Sign of the times that the Steam Winter Sale started (along with most other sites) and not even a mention or a blip here. I thought about my own journey, and I simply don't game like I used to. Not the wide variety anyway. I still have more games than I can play in my lifetime anyway, so the need to have more just isn't screamingly high. I play the old favs, and I guess that's just what aging looks like now.

It's not just aging, though that's part of it. The sales happen so frequently now that each one feels like much less of an event than it used to. Additionally the removal of the little daily games that happened years ago now really took a lot of the fun out of the winter sale. And actually just the switch from the whole daily aspect of the sales removed a lot of the excitement.

The industry has changed so much. It takes so long for sequels to come out. There just isn’t really the same hype behind the industry as there was when the major franchises were actually releasing games regularly.

I have had it on my wishlist forever. People rave about how good it is. I just can't pull the trigger. From what I have seen it seems to be set in a very psychedelic looking steam punk kind of world, and that is just not my cuppa.

I just sat and watched a video break the game play down and it is completely not for me. It is a turn based game which is why I would have been interested in the first place, but it still requires you to button mash at precise times for certain attacks/dodges. I can't do that between my arthritis and my visions issues. Way to take the one type of gaming I can do and ruin it.

I picked this up on Christmas Day and the only reason I ever put my Steam Deck down now is because it rips through the battery in about an hour. Very good game, seems to have deserved the awards it got.

Bladesong released into Early Access this past week. It's an RPG/Management/Crafting game where you work as a swordsmith. Early Access includes the prologue and first chapter of the story. You can also play in a sandbox mode to just craft swords. You're actually crafting the swords with surprising solid depth and accuracy.

It's really well done the story is brutal and there is some story impact from some of the jobs you agree to take on. Overall a great start to the game and one to keep an eye on.

Nookrium's lately has been doing a vid after each Steam sale mentioning games that are at their lowest price/and or good deals. The very first one he mentions is Let Them Trade. Another Civ-like game I've not played but I have seen a lot of streamers play is Through the Ages. It's 50% off or 7.99 right now.


I like digital boardgames because there are often so many moving parts/or a lot of math to keep track of with them. Gloomhaven is under $10 and Everdell is $12 if you are looking for some good fantasy themed games.

Let Tehm Trade crashes every time I start it. My laptop is only about 6 months old so not sure why that would happen.

Oh that sucks. If you bought through Steam you can refund it and get your money back, at least.


I picked it up the other day but as mentioned wasn't planning to get around to it until I finish Expedition 33. I'll have to launch it this weekend just to make sure it works for me so I'm still within the return window if I have similar problems.

I'm playing it right now and I haven't had any issues. It is a fun. Just doing the campaign right now to get the hang of it.

In the latest MMO drama, Ashes of Creation is shutting down. The game was successful on kickstarter way back in 2017. It's a largely PVP centric game with a player driven economy.

The lead developer has a shady history tied to MLMs and people were skeptical from the start, but the game was showing progress. He claims he resigned from the company out of protest after the board voted to shut the game down. However, the only members of the board are the lead dev and his boyfriend.

The game also launched into early access on Steam last month and players felt it had been rushed. It turns out part of their kickstarter was a promise to refund all backers if the game failed to launch. So the early access launch appears to have been done to avoid refunds after pulling in around $3.2 million from kickstarter and around 275k sales on Steam.

I'm very reluctant to buy any early access games now. There are just way too many examples of abandonware.
