When both teams are playing at their best, Boston is the better team.

But, I think that the rule of thumb in an NBA series is to pick the team with the best player if the matchup is at all close.

So, I'll guess Lakers.

Celtics have done pretty good limiting Kobe...and Tony Allen is actually available this year to guard him as well. I think the addition of Rasheed Wallace giving the C's another long defender to play on Odom is going to be beneficial as well.

I will reluctantly root for the Celtics (more accurately, root against the Lakers), but probably won't watch until the series is almost done. Was really rooting for Nash and the Suns to get a championship.

Ya, I was hoping for Nash as well, but I'll be hoping for the C's now as well.

Lakers will win this game. Celtics are playing like shit frankly. poor ball movement, no rebounding, they just look sluggish.

Unless they get Nate Robinson in there and he can light it up.

UGH....GET TONY FUCKING SHIT ALLEN OUT OF THE GAME...HE'S BEEN HORRID TODAY!!!

Celtics are not only being outplayed, they're being out hustled.

Yep. I called that in the first couple minutes and said we'd lose if we didn't pick up the hustle.

I've given up on game 1, officially. This is not the Celtics team from the last three rounds.

yeah - me too i think.

dunno why doc is continuing to play tony allen, who hasn't shown us much on defense, has a shit-ton of fouls, and has hurt us on offense more than helped us. get robinson in there along with sheed...get shooters at the arc and try to trim away at the lead.

5th foul on ray allen...this one's over. no way to get back into it without him on the floor.

his early fouls kept him from getting into a groove too, which has hurt the C's all game

Time to watch Burn Notice.

Probably will avoid this thread because I'm sure there'll be a lot of Laker-fan chest-thumping after this game.

Just keep it in perspective...it's only Game 1.

While it doesn't guarantee anything, it actually is a very meaningful statistic. 43-0 is not a statistical anomaly. His teams are very tough to beat after they win game one.

If you're the Celtics, you just have to remember that you only need to hold court at home and win ONE game on the road. Even the crappy teams in the NBA are pretty good at home. Road wins are tough to come by.

That game 1 win was a big confidence boost for the Lakers. The Celtics needed game 1, if only to avoid a game 7 in LA. It cannot see the Celtics winnning 3 of the next 4, not against Kobe.

Celtics had the best road record in the NBA and had a better road than home this season.

Ugh, I can't wait for game 2 to get here so maybe we have something else to talk about than how amazing Kobe Bryant is for not laughing at Chris Rock. Are you fucking kidding me?

27 first half points for Allen, 7 of 7 from distance.

And yet the Lakers keep doubling off him for some reason. The most amusing was when they doubled off Allen to stop that offensive menace Kendrick Perkins.

much much better half all around for the Celtics in this game. much better defense, much better rebounding, pushing the ball in transition, etc.

And yes...Ray Allen...7 for 7 from beyond the arc...he's just scorching. I was open to the idea of letting him go as a free agent, but now I want him signed to an extension immediately.

I've watched a lot of NBA.....that Gasol "continuation" play was ridiculous even by NBA standards.

Sloppy pass there - nasty 3 by Kobe to cut it to 6. Ugh.

How do you let the Lakers score 7 points there at the end of the quarter. Ugh Ugh.

He doesn't shoot IMO until he's on the far other side of the rim and his hand is moving upwards. It wasn't even close.

I honestly thought I misheard the whistle that blew before he went under the rim, and assumed they were just calling the foul when he went up on the other side.

Even as an impartial fan , I would feel that there have been far too many fouls called during these first two games. It's ridiculous.
