Warren Buffet's (less famous) buddy. RIP

Back to that "work to live" vs "live to work". I think he and Buffet fall into the latter category. Both had more money than they could have spent but both still working hard.

in my facebook feed I saw that Paul McCartney was releasing the 50th anniversary of Wings' Band On The Run. A minute later I saw on that same feed that Wings/Moody Blues Guitarist Denny Laine passed away at 79.

Coincidence? I think not.

I admit to thinking that he had already been dead for a while

He always comes up in the discussion of TV history, but he isn't really mentioned in the larger discussions of American culture. But he probably should be.

He was still apart of the live versions of his old shows that last couple of years. Still seemed sharp till the end.

My mom called me about Wycheck. Given the fact that my dad fell, hit his head and has a TBI and I'm 2 months older than Wycheck, she was a bit freaked out.

Oh, shit. My mom met and talked with him once*, he sounded really down-to-earth and, well, nice. Damn.

* Well, a couple of times; he was on a biking trip and stayed at a BnB my mom and her husband were at; they chatted a bit and then he greeted them at b'fast the next day.

Loved him in Homicide.

Loved the train episode.

It's too young. He was amazing in Homicide: Life on the Streets. Hell he was amazing in everything, including that terrible Poseidon movie where he was the captain.

Is it me or all the striking black character actors dying off early? Keith David and Tony Todd best be on guard.

Only if they had memorable roles as a police officer in at least two different television shows, one of which was a David Simon vehicle.

In all seriousness, while I enjoyed Captain Raymond Holt, I still think Braugher was at his very best as Frank Pembleton in Homicide. And I'm still sad that I'll never get another Lance Reddick cameo on Bosch.

Eric Montross, dead of cancer at 52. That's two 52 year old sports figures dead in the past week, plus my best friend from HS diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. I guess I've finally gotten to that age where everyone around you is (or will be shortly) showing up in obituaries.

He's 5 years older than me and at the time I watched nearly every college game the man played, so this one obviously makes me very uncomfortable.

K-State professor and hall of fame broadcaster Ian Punnett passes away - News Radio KMAN

I suspect a few FOFCers will remember Ian Punnett as a primary substitute host for Art Bell's Coast to Coast. I mostly recall him from a relatively short stint at news/talk WGST in Atlanta.

In addition to those shows and stints in Chicago and Minneapolis, he eventually completed a divinity degree and became as Episcopalian minister and managed the K-State campus radio station while serving as the faculty advisor.

Have to be honest, some I have no idea who they were. Others I thought passed in earlier years (e.g. Raquel Welch was 2023?). And some I didn't remember reading about.

It does make me wonder if these famous people left a lasting, good, and non-family legacy with the opportunities and resources they had.
