Spotters only get to view the action and give advice to the hunter.
Also, I have decided that the evader needs SIX thumbprints to win, not five. This is based on some testing I did to make it balanced. Six will make a much better game. Sorry for the error on that. Again, six out of eight is required to win. Any six will do. edit: and yeah, it turns out I hit preview message instead of send message in my message to BrianD, so he didn't get anything. Duh. I remember hitting preview, I just must not have hit send afterwards. Fixed that problem, too. Last edited by MJ4H : 09-17-2008 at 11:04 AM. |

OK guys, I've got the map and am ready to go. I am off to lunch, so it will be a couple of hours before I return. I'll give you guys one freebie.
MJ4H, please make the obvious move for me. |

Looks like we have some time before Brian returns. Thoughts, spotters?

If you move northwest, you're in a channel that you should follow as far west/northwest as you can. You'll have the solid core to your north.

I made my move. By the way, can one of you spotters tell me what the obvious move was?

Turn 1 is complete. Turn 2 has been sent out. I have changed my mind and I will use the new turn post to list each team's roll.
Remember, also, spotters, you have a 50% chance of seeing the evader and a 50% of missing him when he is in a yellow zone. You have a 75% chance of seeing him when he is in the white zone. If you don't see him on your map, then you don't get to see him for that turn. Rolls for this turn: evader: 2 hunter: 2 |

Does these percentages apply for the hunter as well, or do I just always see him if he's in my radius? |

Anyway spotters, I went a little northwest, and at the moment, I can only go west -- I'm a little worried that this path is going to take me way south. Do you guys think I should be worried, or do you think I'll be able to cut west very soon?

You're fine -- keep going west and just go north/northwest every chance you get. You're in a corridor so you can't get too far south yet.

Agreed. I'd say go north more than northwest so you don't pin yourself down in a corner chasing after BrianD. FYI, I can't see the evader on my turn 2 map.

I'd recommend going west before you go north now.

Yes. I couldn't see him on turn 2 but now I can see him on turn 3 and all he did was drop down to the south a little bit. Again, I'd recommend moving west so you stay parallel with him rather than charging in at him and letting him slip away because of a hasty move.

sorry guys just getting caught up here. Looks like we want to move Pass to the west and then north in a bit correct? I can see Brian again. I assume he will head towards a fingerprint. You're still a long way away from him Pass.

Thinking about making the move ranges 2-3 and 2-4. 1 square per turn seems silly. In fact, I think I am doing that now. Make it:
evader-2 hunter-2 From now on, same ranges just without the possibility of moving 1 square. We want to finish this before Christmas. |

Pass, he's not visible this turn, but I'm certain based on where he was before that he is heading south towards a thumbprint. Keep going west until you can cut northwest. We may be able to get you in a position where you'll have the angle on him. It's going to take awhile though.

I agree with Path on both points. Pretty sure he was going for that thumbprint to the south.

Agreed. I can't see him either. Pass, you still have to go all the way to the west by 12 squares, including obstacles, just to be in the same row as the thumbprint we think he's going after. He's a long way away. The good news is that once you get near him, you can sweep over to the east and race him to the other two thumbprints near the top of the map.

Sami, I'm thinking that he shouldn't go that far west, but position himself in between those two northwestish thumbprint zones in order to be able to cut him off from whereever he tries to go after that. Thoughts?

Spotters -- I think we need to talk about what to do next time I have three or more moves to make, due to my limited visibility. I don't want to give too much of my position away to Brian -- or do you guys think we've talked about it so much that he's figured it out by now? Also, can you guys see where I am? If you can, you probably know what I'm talking about. My move is pretty obvious for this round, but let's be ready for our next big step.

I think he's got a good idea where you are now in a general area at least based on some of the more recent spotter comments. He should get his first fingerprint either in the next move or the one after. We need to see which direction he's going after that.
You definitely want to take that path heading north that you are about to come on, the intersection is one away west, then north. We may have to double you back if goes the other direction though. I think we should go right after him and not go and wait in between fingerprints, but that's just me. |

I agree with Thomkal on heading north but I think we should take more of a wait and see approach to determine which direction he's going after he picks up his first thumbprint, which will be in the next two turns. We can chase him but we need to close the gap and I'm afraid that we'll over commit towards one thumbprint and let him slip by.

BrianD: The best I can figure out, I need a 3 move string from you before I can continue. I'm not sure where the break down in communication came, but it was almost definitely my fault. A move of 3 from you should get us back on.

Okay now I'm confused. Brian stayed put, and Pass went by the north turn I suggested you take. You will not want to continue going west on the path you are on. I'm gone for the rest of the night.

As time goes on in this mission, the shadows grow deeper as the sun sets. The evader's chances of staying hidden gradually increase over time.
Come on guys, that's just common sense! |
