So here's what I have for changes:
Brett Hawkins to Ohio State Ariel Pryde to North Carolina David Ginsberg to Wichita State If that looks correct and nobody else has any move wishes or questions, then I will get those changes made and get the next season started within a day or 2 |

2027-2028 Hot Seat Ratings and Coach Goals
Coaches on a Hot Seat Bee Mighty (TCU) -- We knew it would be a matter of time before the Horned Frogs would start giving up on the Bee. They could care less that the Big 12 is super tough. They feel like they aren't asking much, just any type of postseason appearance. Coaches on an Average Seat Ariel Pryde (North Carolina) -- The Tarheels have struggled the last couple years, and with it being his first season there, Ariel should get a pass, but the board still thinks they are good enough to make the NCAA Tournament. Al Mighty (Notre Dame) -- Al really helped his cause by leading the Fighting Irish to the Sweet Sixteen last season. The board thinks they can get back there this season. Felix Abel (North Florida) -- Nothing has changed for the Ospreys, the board still is looking for that Atlantic Sun conference title. Ess Vee (Northwestern) -- The Wildcats have surprised a lot of teams in the past couple seasons, and the board is happy but not satisfied. They want consistency, and that starts by routine trips to the NCAA Tournament. Brett Hawkins (Ohio State) -- The 2nd of our 3 coach changes, Brett takes over an Ohio State team that lost in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. That's not enough for the board. They want a Final Four appearance. David Ginsberg (Wichita State) -- Our final coach move, and this is one I'll be keeping an eye on, being from Wichita. It's going to be tough though, with the Shockers' recent success, the board wants a Final Four appearance. Of course, I want a national title, but my opinion doesn't matter lol. Thomas Shepard (San Jose State) -- The Spartans have far exceeded expectations the last couple seasons, and the board has taken note of that. They are just looking for a .500 finish in the Mountain West this season. DeShawn St. John (Washington State) -- The Cougars might have the most patient board of all our coaches. Despite consistent cellar finishes in the Pac 12, Coach St. John is nowhere near a hot seat. However, the board feels it is time to break that non-postseason streak, and they want a postseason appearance. Coaches on a Cool/Cold Seat Dean Hoo (St. John's) -- The Red Storm didn't have the greatest of seasons last year, but still made it to the Elite Eight. It's going to take a lot for Dean to lose his job, but the board still expects a Sweet Sixteen run. Rob Nielsen (Bryant) -- A bit of a surprise here, as Coach Nielsen didn't have a great first season with the Bulldogs. What he did do though, is lead them to a cinderella story as they won the Northeast Tournament and stole an NCAA bid. This season, the board would just like a .500 finish in Northeast play. Will Brown (Wagner) -- It was a good season for the Seahawks last season, even if they didn't match expectations. This season, the board would like Wagner to win the Northeast conference title. Benito Sanchez (Stanford) -- The Cardinal fell short of their goal last season, but Coach Sanchez is nowhere near having his seat warmed. The board would like a Sweet Sixteen appearance. Tim Shepard (UCLA) -- The Bruins continue to be consistent, other than 1 bad season. But it's been a couple seasons since they've sniffed the Final Four, and the board is ready for another Final Four trip. Roy Rogers (Alabama) -- While the Crimson Tide were helped by a strong SEC record last season, their non-conference record must improve. The board wants a Sweet Sixteen appearance. Randolph Childress (Alabama State) -- The Hornets were upset in the SWAC Tournament last season, and lost in the First Round of the NIT. The board is hoping for a SWAC championship this season. B.B. Gunn (Arkansas Pine Bluff) -- The Golden Lions had a Cinderella season of their own, making the NCAA Tournament after winning the SWAC Tournament. The board wants to see them build on that and win the SWAC title. Benton Gale (Troy) -- The Trojans disappointed a bit last season, but still made the CBI. This season, the board wants an NCAA Tournament appearance. Charlie Shocker (San Diego) -- The Toreros also made it to the NCAA Tournament last season. This season, the board would be happy with an appearance in any postseason tournament. |

Nov. 12-14, 2027
Just 7 games on the schedule this week, or should I say weekend, as all the games to start the season are on an opening weekend. Because of that, I'll only cover the teams that actually played. North Carolina (Ariel Pryde) -- 1-1, 0-0 ACC. 11/12/27- Coaches vs. Cancer Classic First Round vs. (13) Cal State Northridge (W 77-66). 11/14/27- Coaches vs. Cancer Classic Quarterfinal vs. (5) #25 Pepperdine (L 71-59). A split to start for Coach Pryde and his new team, the Tarheels. The Heels are definitely down a bit, but Pepperdine was good last year and are picking up where they left off. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 1-1, 0-0 Big 12. 11/12/27- New York Classic First Round vs. (13) Wright State (W 76-64). 11/14/27- New York Classic Quarterfinal vs. (12) Marshall (W 75-61). A split for the Horned Frogs, and a golden opportunity for them to make some noise is missed as they had a fairly easy path to the championship. Wichita State (David Ginsberg) -- 1-0, 0-0 MVC. 11/12/27- Hall of Fame Classic First Round vs. (14) VMI (W 72-68). It wasn't easy, but the Coach Ginsberg debut with the Shockers turns into a win. They have a lot of work to do though. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 1-0, 0-0 Pac 12. 11/14/27 vs. High Point (W 79-51). The Cardinal take care of business in their season opener at home, a good performance. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 0-1, 0-0 Pac 12. 11/14/27 at Long Beach State (L 86-63). Not a good start for the Bruins who get hammered in their season opener, on the road. Next they play their season tournament. Here's a look at the national top 25 as we move into the first full week of the season, Nov. 15-21: Code:

Nov. 15-21, 2027
30 games on the schedule this week, but no feature games, so let's jump into the action: North Carolina (Ariel Pryde) -- 1-1, 0-0 ACC. No games this week for Coach Pryde and the Tarheels. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 1-0, 0-0 ACC. 11/18/27 vs. Loyola Chicago (W 73-57). The Fighting Irish start the season with a strong home win. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 1-0, 0-0 Atlantic Sun. 11/16/27 vs. New Orleans (W 90-59). Great start to the season for the Ospreys, as they dominate in their home opener. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 1-1, 0-0 Big 12. No games this week for Coach Mighty and the Horned Frogs. St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 3-0, 0-0 Big East. 11/18/27- Charleston Classic First Round vs. (8) Columbia (W 82-79, OT). 11/19/27- Charleston Classic Semifinal vs. (5) UC Irvine (W 74-60). 11/21/27- Charleston Classic Championship vs. (7) Drexel (W 70-55). The Red Storm become the first team to win a season tournament in the 2027-2028 season, and they can consider themselves a little bit lucky to draw the #7 seed in the championship game. Still though, you have to beat who is in front of you, so a very good week for them. Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 2-0, 0-0 Big Ten. 11/16/27 at IUPUI (W 56-54). 11/18/27 vs. #21 Memphis (W 105-92). The Wildcats start the season with 2 wins, beating a top 25 team after a near upset loss to IUPUI. #22 Ohio State (Brett Hawkins) -- 2-0, 0-0 Big Ten. 11/18/27 at Ohio (W 58-52). 11/21/27- Emerald Coast Classic First Round vs. (7) Northern Illinois (W 92-83, OT). The Buckeyes get a good start to the Coach Hawkins regime, winning an in-state rivalry on the road then needing extra time to win their first season tournament game. The win at Ohio was career win #200 for Coach Hawkins, and we knew it wouldn't take long to get it this season. Wichita State (David Ginsberg) -- 1-1, 0-0 MVC. 11/15/27- Hall of Fame Classic Quarterfinal vs. (11) South Florida (L 83-75). Oof! Tough loss for the Shockers, and already I'm ready to fire Coach Ginsberg. Just kidding! No shame in losing to a team that has pulled their second upset of this tournament, telling me they were underseeded. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 0-1, 0-0 Mountain West. 11/20/27- Cancun Challenge First Round vs. (2) #7 Arkansas (L 67-47). No big surprise, as the Spartans were outmatched in their season opener. They showed signs of greatness, but need to find some offense. Bryant (Rob Nielsen) -- 0-1, 0-0 Northeast. 11/19/27 at Buffalo (L 62-54). The Bulldogs start the season with a road loss, the first of 6 straight road games to start the season. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 2-0, 0-0 Northeast. 11/18/27- Paradise Jam First Round vs. (4) Colgate (W 87-62). 11/21/27- Paradise Jam Semifinal vs. (8) New Hampshire (W 73-62). Consistency for the Seahawks, as they get 2 big wins to open the season, holding their opponent to 62 points in each. Next up, the Paradise Jam championship game. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 3-0, 0-0 Pac 12. 11/18/27 at Pacific (W 77-62). 11/21/27- Emerald Coast Classic First Round vs. (8) Bucknell (W 80-62). 2 more wins for the Cardinal, who are off to a great start to open the season. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 1-1, 0-0 Pac 12. 11/21/27- Corpus Christi Coastal Classic First Round vs. (8) San Francisco (W 78-55). A good recovery game for the Bruins, as they take care of business in their season tournament opener. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 1-1, 0-0 Pac 12. 11/15/27 vs. Denver (W 67-48). 11/19/27 vs. Cleveland State (L 77-55). A split to open the season for the Cougars, both at home. They'll get ready for their season tournament next week. Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 0-1, 0-0 SEC. 11/18/27- Legends Classic First Round vs. (8) Towson (L 59-45). An embarrassing start to the season for the Crimson Tide, who drop their season tournament opener. Looks like it could be another tough non-conference season. Alabama State (Randolph Childress) -- 1-1, 0-0 SWAC. 11/19/27- Michigan Showcase First Round vs. (1) William & Mary (L 86-48). 11/21/27- Michigan Showcase 3rd Place Game vs. (2) Milwaukee (W 66-57). A split for the Hornets this week, who would like to forget that W&M game took place, but a good recovery against Milwaukee. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 0-3, 0-0 SWAC. 11/18/27- Puerto Rico Tip-Off First Round vs. (3) East Tennessee State (L 90-79). 11/19/27- Puerto Rico Tip-Off Consolation vs. (7) Illinois Chicago (L 90-88). 11/21/27- Puerto Rico Tip-Off 7th Place Game vs. (8) Sacred Heart (L 117-95). Not a good start for the Golden Lions, as only 1 of their 3 losses this week was relatively close as they limped to an 8th place finish in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 0-2, 0-0 Sun Belt. 11/18/27- Paradise Jam First Round vs. (7) Youngstown State (L 65-55). 11/21/27- Paradise Jam Consolation vs. (6) Western Carolina (L 71-64). Not a good start for the Trojans either, as they lose 2 games they really need to be winning. They can still recover for 7th place as they have more winnable games next week. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 1-2, 0-0 WCC. 11/16/27- Hall of Fame Tip-Off First Round vs. (6) Cincinnati (L 92-86, OT). 11/20/27- Hall of Fame Tip-Off Consolation vs. (2) Kent State (W 72-64). 11/21/27- Hall of Fame Tip-Off 5th Place Game vs. (5) Utah (L 71-67). Given the strength of this tournament, with Cincinnati and Utah seeded below San Diego, you gotta like the effort of the Toreros. They may have only finished 6th, but this was really a tough tournament, and all 3 games were close. Here's a look at the national top 25 going into the week of Nov. 22-28: Code:

Nov. 22-28, 2027
33 games on the schedule this week, with 1 feature game, a season tournament game. Let's start there: 11/27/27- Emerald Coast Classic Championship - (2) #12 Ohio State vs. (1) #20 Stanford -- This one was an instant classic, as the teams traded leads back and forth. The difference was the three point line. Over half of Stanford's shots were three pointers. They shot 34 three pointers, making 13. Because of that, they didn't get to the hole and didn't get to the line much. On the other hand, Ohio State took only 16 three pointers, got to the line 26 times, and made 22 of them. They also outrebounded the Cardinal 44-33. All that proved to be the difference. Despite Stanford making 13 three pointers, they couldn't compensate in other areas, and the Buckeyes stay perfect and win a season tournament title! Final Score: (2) #12 Ohio State- 70, (1) #20 Stanford- 67 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: North Carolina (Ariel Pryde) -- 3-2, 0-0 ACC. 11/22/27 at Loyola Chicago (W 77-59). 11/26/27 vs. Fordham (L 74-49). 11/28/27 at Illinois State (W 78-50). 2 out of 3 in the win column this week for the Tarheels, all blowouts. That 25 point loss to Fordham stings bad though. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 4-1, 0-0 ACC. 11/22/27- Las Vegas Invitational First Round vs. (7) Portland (W 82-80). 11/25/27- Las Vegas Invitational Semifinal vs. (6) Evansville (W 88-81). 11/26/27- Las Vegas Invitational Championship vs. (5) Nebraska (L 67-59). 11/28/27 vs. Kent State (W 77-65). A heavy week for the Fighting Irish, winning 3 of 4. Their only setback was their season tournament championship game, but still a good start. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 2-1, 0-0 Atlantic Sun. 11/25/27- South Carolina Showcase First Round vs. (1) Arkansas Little Rock (L 87-69). 11/27/27- South Carolina Showcase 3rd Place Game vs. (3) St. Francis (NY) (W 87-86, OT). A split for the Ospreys as they salvage 3rd place in their season tournament. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 2-1, 0-0 Big 12. 11/23/27 at UTEP (W 68-55). Just 1 game this week for the Horned Frogs, but they get a nice, solid road win. #18 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 3-0, 0-0 Big East. No games this week for Coach Hoo and the Red Storm. Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 4-1, 0-0 Big Ten. 11/22/27- Main Event First Round vs. (7) Cleveland State (L 73-56). 11/23/27- Main Event Consolation Round vs. (6) UNLV (W 73-64). 11/24/27- Main Event 5th Place Game vs. (5) Auburn (W 88-66). Good recovery for the Wildcats this week, as they salvage a 5th place finish in their season tournament after an upset loss in their First Round game. #12 Ohio State (Brett Hawkins) -- 4-0, 0-0 Big Ten. 11/26/27- Emerald Coast Classic Semifinal vs. (6) Drake (W 82-63). 11/27/27- Emerald Coast Classic Championship vs. (1) #20 Stanford- feature game, highlighted above. The Buckeyes stay hot under new head coach Hawkins, winning their season tournament with a good win over a fellow FOFC coached team. Wichita State (David Ginsberg) -- 1-1, 0-0 MVC. No games this week for Coach Ginsberg and the Shockers. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 2-1, 0-0 Mountain West. 11/23/27- Cancun Challenge Consolation Round vs. (3) Kansas State (W 74-66). 11/24/27- Cancun Challenge 5th Place Game vs. (8) Elon (W 70-62). Good week for the Spartans who win both games, including an upset win over Kansas State, to take 5th in their season tournament. Bryant (Rob Nielsen) -- 2-1, 0-0 Northeast. 11/24/27 at Penn (W 60-58). 11/26/27 at Yale (W 74-63). The Bulldogs took a tour of the Ivy League this week and came out winners in both games, trying to build a little momentum as they have 3 more road games next week. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 4-0, 0-0 Northeast. 11/22/27- Paradise Jam Championship vs. (3) Belmont (W 70-59). 11/28/27 at Columbia (W 71-55). Great week for the Seahawks as they win their season tournament as the 5th seed, then pick up another win later on in the week. #20 Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 4-1, 0-0 Pac 12. 11/26/27- Emerald Coast Classic Semifinal vs. (4) #19 Ole Miss (W 71-57). 11/27/27- Emerald Coast Classic Championship vs. (2) #12 Ohio State- feature game, highlighted above. The Cardinal split their games this week, going 1-1, losing in the championship game of their season tournament, but I'm sure they'll bounce back strong. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 3-1, 0-0 Pac 12. 11/26/27- Corpus Christi Coastal Classic Semifinal vs. (4) Pittsburgh (W 82-69). 11/27/27- Corpus Christi Coastal Classic Championship vs. (2) #16 Texas A&M (W 68-60). The Bruins are recovering nicely from their season opening loss, winning 2 games this week to claim another season tournament title. They seem to be hitting their stride now. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 2-3, 0-0 Pac 12. 11/22/27- Gulf Coast Showcase First Round vs. (5) North Texas (W 67-48). 11/23/27- Gulf Coast Showcase Semifinal vs. (8) Wyoming (L 66-63). 11/24/27- Gulf Coast Showcase 3rd Place Game vs. (6) Pacific (L 84-76). It started well for the Cougars, as they won their First Round game, but then they lost their next 2 this week to take 4th in their season tournament. Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 2-2, 0-0 SEC. 11/22/27- Legends Classic Consolation Round vs. (4) George Washington (W 77-69). 11/23/27- Legends Classic 5th Place Game vs. (6) Akron (L 58-54). 11/28/27 vs. Indiana State (W 85-82). The Crimson Tide win 2 out of 3 this week, but they won't be happy with a 6th place finish in their season tournament, especially since their 2 losses were very winnable. Looks like Coach Rogers can't get over the non-conference hump. Alabama State (Randolph Childress) -- 1-1, 0-0 SWAC. No games this week for Coach Childress and the Hornets. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 0-3, 0-0 SWAC. Also no games this week for Coach Gunn and the Golden Lions, who are preparing once again for another tough non-conference slate. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 0-4, 0-0 Sun Belt. 11/22/27- Paradise Jam 7th Place Game vs. (1) George Mason (L 100-98, OT). 11/28/27 at Delaware State (L 98-83). Something isn't working for the Trojans, who finish 8th in their season tournament, and a tough draw to face the tournaments #1 seed in the 7th place game. Ouch! Coach Gale has some work to do. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 2-2, 0-0 WCC. 11/28/27 at Cal Poly (W 75-74, OT). It took overtime, but the Toreros evened their season record with a tough road win in their only game of the week. So Stanford plays a close game to a team ranked higher than them, loses by 3, then loses all of their Top 25 points except 1? Craziness.

32 games on the schedule this week, and 1 feature games. It's a non-conference games so we'll start there. 12/2/27- San Diego (Charlie Shocker) @ Alabama State (Randolph Childress) -- Not much to talk about in this one. San Diego started hot and finished hot, having a 30 points halftime lead and never looking back in an easy road victory. Final Score: San Diego- 82, Alabama State- 56 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: North Carolina (Ariel Pryde) -- 3-2, 0-0 ACC. No games this week for Ariel and the Tarheels. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 4-2, 0-0 ACC. 12/2/27 at Purdue (L 70-66). Tough loss for the Fighting Irish in their only game of the week. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 3-2, 0-0 Atlantic Sun. 12/2/27 vs. #23 Nebraska (W 80-74). 12/4/27 at FIU (L 78-62). A split for the Ospreys, but not the results you would expect. They do get a nice home win, handing Nebraska their first loss, but fall apart at FIU. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 4-1, 0-0 Big 12. 11/30/27 vs. Louisiana Tech (W 52-48). 12/2/27 at Weber State (W 80-72). 2 more wins for the Horned Frogs, who are off to an encouraging start. They need to win as many games as possible now. #12 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 4-0, 0-0 Big East. 12/3/27 at Fresno State (W 99-84). The Red Storm get a road test this week and pass it easily to stay undefeated. Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 6-1, 0-0 Big Ten. 11/29/2 vs. DePaul (W 66-50). 12/3/27 vs. Missouri State (W 76-63). 2 more solid wins for the Wildcats who are continuing to roll. #8 Ohio State (Brett Hawkins) -- 5-0, 0-0 Big Ten. 12/3/27 at N.C. State (W 89-84). The Buckeyes pass a road test this week to stay undefeated. Wichita State (David Ginsberg) -- 3-1, 0-0 MVC. 11/29/27 at Oral Roberts (W 56-42). 12/1/27 at Yale (W 72-56). The Shockers get back on track this week with a pair of double digit road wins. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 2-3, 0-0 Mountain West. 11/29/27 vs. Hawaii (L 64-56). 12/4/27 vs. USC (L 63-56). A pair of tough home losses for the Spartans. A pretty good effort in both though. Bryant (Rob Nielsen) -- 4-3, 0-0 Northeast. 11/29/27 at New Mexico (L 68-61). 12/1/27 at Princeton (L 69-52). 12/3/27 at Quinnipiac (W 79-76, OT). 12/5/27 vs. UMass Lowell (W 85-63). A heavy week for the Bulldogs, with 4 big games, and they split. Coach Nielsen will take it, even if they needed overtime to get one of the wins. #24 Wagner (Will Brown) -- 6-0, 0-0 Northeast. 12/1/27 vs. South Dakota State (W 70-57). 12/5/27 at Presbyterian (W 69-58). 2 more wins for the Seahawks as they stay undefeated, and they'll get a nice mid-major test next week. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 6-1, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/2/27 vs. Illinois Chicago (W 65-62, OT). 12/5/27 vs. Fresno State (W 100-64). 2 home wins this week for the Cardinal, recovering nicely from the loss to Ohio State. They can't be happy that UIC took them to OT though. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 3-3, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/2/27 at Cal State Fullerton (L 79-71). 12/4/27 at UC Irvine (L 87-70). Not a good week for the Bruins, 2 embarrassing losses on the West coast. At least both were road losses, but definitely Coach Shepard has some work to do with this squad. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 2-4, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/1/27 at Kansas (L 80-56). The Cougars take a big L in their only game of the week. Although Kansas has struggled a bit in this dynasty, they are still good enough. Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 4-2, 0-0 SEC. 12/2/27 vs. Holy Cross (W 87-65). 12/4/27 vs. James Madison (W 73-59). The Crimson Tide are on a bit of a roll, winners of 3 straight after winning their 2 games this week. They've got a few more winnable games before they go into a tough 3 game stretch to finish non-conference play. Alabama State (Randolph Childress) -- 1-3, 0-0 SWAC. 12/2/27 vs. San Diego- feature game, highlighted above. 12/4/27 vs. Mercer (L 83-72). 2 more losses for the Hornets as they embark on an 8 game road trip now, where getting a win may be hard to come by. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 0-5, 0-0 SWAC. 12/1/27 at Memphis (L 92-66). 12/5/27 at Arizona (L 95-63). No surprises here as the Golden Lions lose 2 more games. They are also in the middle of a long road trip against really tough competition. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 1-5, 0-0 Sun Belt. 11/30/27 vs. St. Peter's (W 97-69). 12/4/27 at West Virginia (L 99-93). A pretty good week for the Trojans as they won their first game convincingly, then took a very good West Virginia team to the limit. Hopefully they'll keep some momentum as they have a couple ranked teams coming up. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 3-2, 0-0 WCC. 12/2/27 at Alabama State- feature game, highlighted above. 35 games on the schedule this week, but no feature games so let's get right to it: North Carolina (Ariel Pryde) -- 4-3, 0-0 ACC. 12/8/27 vs. Georgia State (W 78-51). 12/11/27 at Minnesota (L 76-66). A split this week for the Tar Heels, who lose on the road to a solid Minnesota team. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 5-3, 0-0 ACC. 12/8/27 at South Dakota (W 68-66). 12/11/27 at Indiana State (L 61-59). A road split for the Fighting Irish, who can't be losing to teams like Indiana State if they are to make noise again this season. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 5-2, 0-0 Atlantic Sun. 12/9/27 at Radford (W 96-87). 12/11/27 vs. High Point (W 71-63). The Ospreys get a couple nice wins this week against decent mid-major teams. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 4-2, 0-0 Big 12. 12/11/27 at Florida (L 81-58). The Horned Frogs suffer a blowout loss in their only game of the week, proving that they still have work to do. #10 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 4-1, 0-0 Big East. 12/12/27 vs. Brown (L 76-74). A shocking loss this week for the Red Storm, their first loss of the season in their only game of the week. Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 7-3, 0-0 Big Ten. 12/7/27 at Illinois State (L 86-78). 12/10/27 vs. Northern Iowa (L 76-64). 12/12/27 at Austin Peay (W 75-51). Not a good week for the Wildcats, who drop 2 out of 3, both losses coming to the Missouri Valley. #7 Ohio State (Brett Hawkins) -- 7-0, 0-0 Big Ten. 12/8/27 vs. Duquesne (W 84-62). 12/12/27 at Virginia Tech (W 87-81). The Buckeyes stay perfect on the young season, taking advantage of their opportunities. It's still fairly early, but it looks like Coach Hawkins made a good move by jumping to Ohio State. Wichita State (David Ginsberg) -- 6-1, 0-0 MVC. 12/6/27 vs. UConn (W 98-69). 12/8/27 vs. James Madison (W 91-70). 12/12/27 vs. Kansas (W 56-48). Huge week for the Shockers, who get 2 blowout wins, then a nice in-state win. Couldn't have asked for anything more. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 4-3, 0-0 Mountain West. 12/7/27 vs. Sacramento State (W 59-53). 12/12/27 at Cal State Fullerton (W 69-58). 2 solid wins for the Spartans who are back over .500 on the season. Bryant (Rob Nielsen) -- 6-3, 0-0 Northeast. 12/10/27 vs. San Diego State (W 58-48). 12/12/27 at Rhode Island (W 55-41). Don't look now, but the Bulldogs have a 4 game winning streak, and this week they got it done against a couple big mid-major names. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. #14 Wagner (Will Brown) -- 6-1, 0-0 Northeast. 12/10/27 vs. #19 Hofstra (L 83-62). Oops! The Seahawks ran into a buzz saw this week, getting hammered in their first loss of the season and their only game of the week. #24 Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 7-1, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/10/27 at BYU (W 81-71). A good road win for the Cardinal in their only game of the week. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 5-3, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/9/27 vs. ECU (W 71-40). 12/12/27 vs. #15 East Tennessee State (W 76-60). The Bruins are back on track with a couple blowout wins this week, including one over a ranked team. They'll take it. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 3-5, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/9/27 vs. Portland State (W 91-70). 12/12/27 at Seattle (L 60-52). A split this week for the Cougars, who win easily at home and drop a tough one on the road. They can't be losing those kind of games though. Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 5-2, 0-0 SEC. 12/9/27 vs. Illinois Chicago (W 88-51). The Crimson Tide win big in their only game of the week. Now they begin the murders row part of their non-conference schedule, with their next 3 games against top 10 teams. Alabama State (Randolph Childress) -- 1-5, 0-0 SWAC. 12/9/27 at UAB (L 77-40). 12/11/27 at #18 Florida State (L 75-55). 2 expected losses for the Hornets this week as they are just starting an 8 game road trip in which they will likely only be favored in 1 of those games. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 0-6, 0-0 SWAC. 12/10/27 at #5 Indiana (L 101-82). The Golden Lions are still looking for their first win of the season, and it's not going to be easy as they are also in the midst of a long road trip. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 3-5, 0-0 Sun Belt. 12/9/27 at #16 UCF (W 69-45). 12/11/27 at Florida A&M (W 73-57). Great week for the Trojans, who get 2 road wins, including a win over a ranked team. Always nice to beat a team with a # next to their name. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 5-3, 0-0 WCC. 12/6/27 vs. UC Santa Barbara (W 85-70). 12/8/27 vs. Cal State Fullerton (W 70-65). 12/11/27 at UC Irvine (L 80-70). Good week for the Toreros as they win 2 of 3, all against west coast teams. Coach Shocker is inching closer to career win #200, just 4 away now. Dec. 13-19, 2027
32 games on the schedule this week, and 3 feature games. All non-conference games, so we'll start there. 12/14/27- Notre Dame (Al Mighty) @ San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- Three pointers and rebounding were the difference in this one, as San Diego made double the number of three pointers, and had a rebounding edge of 9 as they get a big home victory. Final Score: San Diego- 75, Notre Dame- 65 12/17/27- Alabama State (Randolph Childress) @ Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- This in-state rivalry was controlled early by Alabama State, but really neither team shot the ball well. Alabama shot a little better though, and that was enough to pull out the victory. Final Score: Alabama- 67, Alabama State- 58 12/19/27- Alabama State (Randolph Childress) @ St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- St. John's forced 23 turnovers in this one, leading to many more opportunities as they get a fairly easy home win. Final Score: St. John's- 76, Alabama State- 63 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: North Carolina (Ariel Pryde) -- 6-3, 0-0 ACC. 12/13/27 at Stony Brook (W 73-63). 12/15/27 vs. Gonzaga (W 90-76). Good week for the Tar Heels who win both their games including a nice win over Gonzaga. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 6-4, 0-0 ACC. 12/14/27 at San Diego- feature game, highlighted above. 12/19/27 vs. LaSalle (W 89-55). A split for the Fighting Irish this week, who recover from their loss to get a huge win over LaSalle. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 6-5, 0-0 Atlantic Sun. 12/13/27 at South Florida (L 106-97). 12/15/27 vs. The Citadel (L 90-85). 12/17/27 at UCF (W 71-53). 12/19/27 at Florida Atlantic (L 98-77). A heavy week for the Ospreys, as they took on a bunch of Florida teams this week. Unfortunately, not much success as they lost 3 of 4. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 5-3, 0-0 Big 12. 12/13/27 vs. Northwestern State (W 75-62). 12/16/27 vs. Lamar (L 70-66). A split for the Horned Frogs, who can't be losing to teams like Lamar if they are going to make the postseason. St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 5-2, 0-0 Big East. 12/17/27 at Eastern Michigan (L 98-86). 12/19/27 vs. Alabama State- feature game, highlighted above. Another split for the Red Storm, and another loss that they had no business getting. In fairness, Eastern Michigan is 7-2 early on in the season, but still, the Johnnies should be able to beat them. Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 8-3, 0-0 Big Ten. 12/19/27 at Oakland (W 66-51). Just 1 game this week for the Wildcats, as they recover nicely and have won 2 in a row after a brief 2 game losing streak. #4 Ohio State (Brett Hawkins) -- 8-0, 0-0 Big Ten. 12/16/27 vs. Green Bay (W 77-72). It wasn't easy but the Buckeyes stay undefeated, getting a tough home win. #23 Wichita State (David Ginsberg) -- 6-2, 0-0 MVC. 12/16/27 vs. FIU (L 77-73). Tough loss for the Shockers in their only game of the week. A good effort, but still a winnable game as they now move into conference play. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 5-3, 0-0 Mountain West. 12/16/27 vs. Cal Poly (W 85-71). Good win for the Spartans in their only game of the week, as they have a couple tough road games next week. Bryant (Rob Nielsen) -- 6-4, 0-0 Northeast. 12/15/27 at Northeastern (L 87-68). The 4 game winning streak comes to an end in a big way, as the Bulldogs get hammered in their only game of the week. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 7-2, 0-0 Northeast. 12/13/27 at Green Bay (L 87-80). 12/15/27 vs. Loyola (MD) (W 97-66). A split for the Seahawks, who get back on the winning side of things after 2 losses in a row. #16 Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 8-1, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/18/27 vs. Green Bay (W 79-71, OT). It took the Cardinal overtime, but they finally fought off a pesky Green Bay squad in their only game of the week. Green Bay proved to be a tough out for our teams this week. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 5-3, 0-0 Pac 12. No games this week for Coach Shepard and the Bruins. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 5-5, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/14/27 at Cal State Northridge (W 57-56). 12/19/27 vs. Montana State (W 60-57). 2 wins for the Cougars this week who even their record, but both wins were tough against teams they probably should have handled much easier. Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 6-4, 0-0 SEC. 12/14/27 at Memphis (L 67-59). 12/17/27 vs. Alabama State- feature game, highlighted above. 12/19/27 at #7 Providence (L 65-60). The Crimson Tide lose 2 of 3 this week. Not bad efforts, but it doesn't get any easier. They face the top 2 teams in the nation next week. Alabama State (Randolph Childress) -- 1-8, 0-0 SWAC. 12/14/27 at #2 Virginia (L 59-51). 12/17/27 at Alabama- feature game, highlighted above. 12/19/27 at St. John's- feature game, highlighted above. About what we expected from the Hornets this week as they drop all 3 games. The biggest surprise is that Virginia score. They actually led by 5 at halftime but couldn't hold on. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 1-7, 0-0 SWAC. 12/13/27 at Ole Miss (W 98-89). 12/16/27 at Iowa (L 84-76). A split for the Golden Lions this week, who pull an upset at Ole Miss, and played pretty well at Iowa. Decent week. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 4-6, 0-1 Sun Belt. 12/13/27 vs. Stetson (W 98-53). 12/16/27 at UL Lafayette (L 70-62). A split for the Trojans, who dropped a tough one to open conference play. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 7-4, 0-0 WCC. 12/14/27 vs. Notre Dame- feature game, highlighted above. 12/16/27 vs. UNLV (W 87-80). 12/18/27 vs. San Diego State (L 85-60). Not a bad week for the Toreros as they win 2 of 3, but that 25 point loss to San Diego State stings. Here's a look at the national top 25 going into the week of Dec. 20-26: Code:

Dec. 20-26, 2027
32 games on the schedule this week, and no feature games, so let's get to it: North Carolina (Ariel Pryde) -- 8-3, 0-0 ACC. 12/23/27 at St. Francis (PA) (W 81-67). 12/25/27 vs. ECU (W 74-51). 2 more wins for the Tar Heels who are on a 4 game win streak heading into conference play. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 7-4, 0-0 ACC. 12/21/27 at St. Francis (PA) (W 84-63). Easy win for the Fighting Irish in their only game of the week, and they have 1 more tune-up before they start conference play. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 6-6, 0-0 Atlantic Sun. 12/21/27 at Florida (L 80-62). Just 1 game for the Ospreys this week, and they take a lump on the chin against an in-state foe. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 6-3, 0-0 Big 12. 12/20/27 vs. Sam Houston State (W 64-62). 1 game for the Horned Frogs this week, but they get a tough win heading into conference play. St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 7-2, 0-0 Big East. 12/21/27 vs. Charlotte (W 104-94). 12/23/27 vs. Bowling Green (W 92-55). 2 more wins for the Red Storm, who are now starting to win those games they should be winning. Conference play awaits and they start with a bang. Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 9-3, 0-0 Big Ten. 12/24/27 at Belmont (W 76-73). The Wildcats win their only game of the week, a tough road win as they head into conference play. #4 Ohio State (Brett Hawkins) -- 10-1, 0-0 Big Ten. 12/20/27 vs. Dayton (W 100-74). 12/24/27 vs. Cornell (W 87-67). 12/26/27 at Florida (L 72-63). The Buckeyes win 2 out of 3 this week, and Coach Hawkins suffers his first loss as the Ohio State head coach. We'll find out if this team is for real, as always the Big Ten is stacked. Wichita State (David Ginsberg) -- 7-3, 1-1 MVC. 12/22/27 vs. Southern Illinois (W 86-77). 12/25/27 vs. Northern Iowa (L 90-89, OT). The Shockers split this week, a pair of conference games. It took overtime before they lost to Northern Iowa, but with the MVC not looking too strong this season, WSU can't afford too many losses. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 5-5, 0-1 Mountain West. 12/22/27 at Nevada (L 73-55). 12/25/27 at Southern Utah (L 88-49). Not a good week for the Spartans, who get dismantled in 2 games this week, 1 of them being a conference game. They'll look to quickly redeem themselves. Bryant (Rob Nielsen) -- 6-6, 0-1 Northeast. 12/21/27 vs. St. Joseph's (L 70-56). 12/25/27 vs. St. Francis (PA) (L 79-55). 2 more losses for the Bulldogs, including a loss to start conference play. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 7-4, 0-2 Northeast. 12/23/27 at Fairleigh Dickinson (L 69-55). 12/25/27 at Sacred Heart (L 88-71). A surprising start in conference play for the Seahawks as they drop their first 2 conference games. Hopefully it's not a sign of things to come. #11 Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 9-2, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/23/27 at UC Davis (W 69-60). 12/26/27 at Iowa (L 76-70). A split this week for the Cardinal, losing a tough game at Iowa, and they've got another road game against a tough Big Ten opponent next week. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 7-3, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/20/27 vs. Fresno State (W 97-85). 12/22/27 vs. Central Michigan (W 84-72). A pair of 12 point wins for the Bruins this week as they have a couple more games before conference play. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 5-6, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/25/27 vs. Montana (L 69-64). The Cougars fall back under .500 with another loss that they can't afford to have. Next week won't be easy as they stay on the west coast for a home game and a road game, both non-conference. Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 7-4, 0-0 SEC. 12/25/27 at #1 Virginia (W 81-76, OT). 1 game for the Crimson Tide this week, and it was a big one as they defeat the #1 team in the nation, on the road. This is a marquee non-conference win they've struggled to get. They have a chance to get another one next week as they'll face the new #1 at home. Alabama State (Randolph Childress) -- 1-9, 0-0 SWAC. 12/25/27 at #15 Tennessee (L 82-67). Not a bad effort for the Hornets, but they still finish non-conference play with a whimper. The good news is that they are into conference play and things can only go up. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 1-9, 0-0 SWAC. 12/23/27 at #3 Wisconsin (L 86-77). 12/25/27 at Georgetown (L 68-52). Everything that I said for Alabama State is ditto for the Golden Lions. Good effort, non-conference was bad, but now they are into conference play. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 6-6, 2-1 Sun Belt. 12/23/27 vs. Miami (OH) (W 71-63). 12/25/27 vs. Arkansas Little Rock (W 75-65). Much better week for the Trojans who win 2 and are back to .500 overall, and over .500 in the conference. I believe Miami (OH) is a new team to the Sun Belt this year, but I'm not sure. I haven't been doing a good job keeping up with conference movement. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 7-6, 0-1 WCC. 12/20/27 vs. #8 California (L 78-68). 12/25/27 at BYU (L 85-72). 2 losses this week for the Toreros, and it doesn't get any easier as their next 3 opponents, all conference opponents, are a combined 34-6 so far this season. Here's a look at the national top 25 as we head into the week of Dec. 27-Jan. 2: Code:

Also not a good week for the Fighting Irish, who also lost both their games this week and have lost 6 of their last 7. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 12-9, 5-2 Atlantic Sun. 1/27/28 vs. NJIT (W 80-68). 1/29/28 vs. Stetson (L 77-64). A split for the Ospreys who see their 5 game winning streak snapped with the loss against Stetson. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 7-12, 1-8 Big 12. 1/24/28 vs. Texas Tech (L 63-46). 1/29/28 vs. Baylor (L 87-65). It's looking more and more like this will be a coaching change in the offseason, as the Horned Frogs lost 2 more this week, and weren't really competitive. #10 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 15-5, 6-3 Big East. 1/26/28 vs. #7 Providence (L 80-72). 1/29/28 vs. Marquette (W 87-74). The Red Storm split this week, but can't pick up a quality win over a top 10 team. That's something that is missing from this seasons resume. Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 12-8, 3-5 Big Ten. 1/26/28 at Penn State (L 81-71). 1/29/28 at #15 Michigan State (W 65-47). A split for the Wildcats, who beat a much improved Michigan State team, which snapped a 4 game losing streak. Next week a battle against #1 is on the horizon. #12 Ohio State (Brett Hawkins) -- 15-5, 4-4 Big Ten. 1/26/28 vs. Nebraska (W 85-80). 1/29/28 at #19 Indiana (L 77-65). Another split for the Buckeyes, who are also looking for another key top 25 win. Wichita State (David Ginsberg) -- 15-5, 8-3 MVC. 1/26/28 vs. Indiana State (W 89-75). 1/29/28 vs. Evansville (W 84-60). The Shockers win 2 more this week, as they continue to roll. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 11-9, 4-5 Mountain West. 1/29/28 at Fresno State (W 57-52). Just 1 game this week for the Spartans, another win. They are on a bit of a hot streak, but the schedule gets tougher next week. Bryant (Rob Nielsen) -- 9-13, 3-8 Northeast. 1/27/28 at St. Francis (NY) (L 61-57). 1/29/28 at LIU Brooklyn (W 71-61). A split for the Bulldogs, who played tough against the conference leaders, but couldn't pull it off. They do get a nice road win at Brooklyn though. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 14-7, 6-4 Northeast. 1/24/28 vs. Princeton (L 73-65). 1/29/28 at Mt. St. Mary's (W 78-70). A split for the Seahawks, who can't win an important non-conference game, but do get back in the winning ways in conference play. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 12-8, 3-5 Pac 12. 1/27/28 vs. Gonzaga (W 70-62). 1/29/28 vs. Washington (W 78-52). Much better week for the Cardinal, who get 2 much needed wins to break a 4 game losing streak. #8 UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 16-4, 7-1 Pac 12. 1/27/28 at #20 California (L 74-73). 1/29/28 vs. Gonzaga (W 86-63). Tough split for the Bruins, who drop their first conference game of the season to a solid California team, but rebound nicely by hammering Gonzaga. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 6-14, 0-8 Pac 12. 1/27/28 vs. Oregon (L 71-68). 1/29/28 vs. Utah (L 79-50). A blowout and a close loss, but the losing streak continues as the Cougars lose 2 more this week and are still looking for their first conference win of the season. Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 12-8, 4-4 SEC. 1/26/28 vs. Auburn (W 75-67). 1/29/28 at VCU (W 74-71). 2 much needed wins for the Crimson Tide, who have won 3 of their last 4. The win at VCU will be very crucial come Selection Sunday. Alabama State (Randolph Childress) -- 6-14, 5-4 SWAC. 1/24/28 vs. Prairie View A&M (L 61-53). 1/29/28 vs. Texas Southern (L 88-72). 2 more losses for the Hornets, who have lost 4 of their last 5. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 6-14, 4-5 SWAC. 1/24/28 at Alcorn State (L 75-67). 1/29/28 at Southern (L 92-84). A pair of 8 point losses for the Golden Lions this week, as they continue to struggle, losers of 3 of their last 4. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 12-10, 8-5 Sun Belt. 1/27/28 vs. Arkansas State (W 78-69). 1/29/28 vs. #25 Georgia Southern (L 83-75). A split for the Trojans, who can't get a big top 25 win, falling short against the best team in the conference. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 12-11, 5-6 WCC. 1/27/28 at #13 Loyola Marymount (L 63-53). 1/29/28 at #18 Pepperdine (L 90-60). Tough week for the Toreros, who had a chance to make a statement this week, but lost both games against ranked conference teams, and weren't competitive against Pepperdine. Their average margin of defeat against those 2 teams in their 4 losses this season is over 25 points. Not good for a team fighting for a postseason berth. Here's a look at the national top 25 going into the week of Jan. 31-Feb. 6: Code:
And a look at the mid-major top 25 going into the week of Jan. 31-Feb. 6: Code:

I just wanted to let everyone know what was going on. I tested positive for COVID-19 several weeks ago. Fortunately my case was not as severe as it could have been, but I'm still on the mend.
I hope to be able to get back to this project next week, if people are still following and interested. Last edited by collegesportsfanms : 08-13-2020 at 09:05 AM. |

Jan. 31-Feb. 6, 2028
36 games on the schedule this week, including 1 feature game. We'll start there: 12/3/28- Stanford (Benito Sanchez) @ #10 UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- Free throws kept Stanford in this game, as they made almost double the amount of free throws as field goals. Unfortunately, they only made 13 field goals, with 9 of them being three pointers. They shot 29.5% for the game and couldn't recover as UCLA gets the win. Final Score: #10 UCLA- 72, Stanford- 59 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: North Carolina (Ariel Pryde) -- 12-9, 4-6 ACC. 2/5/28 vs. Boston College (W 92-61). Just 1 game this week for the Tar Heels, but it was a very impressive victory over a decent BC team. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 10-13, 3-8 ACC. 2/2/28 vs. Miami (FL) (W 85-69). 2/5/28 at Virginia Tech (L 70-67). Solid week for the Fighting Irish, who had a strong win over Miami and played very tough in a hard fought loss against the 2nd place team in the ACC. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 12-11, 5-3 Atlantic Sun. 1/31/28 vs. Army (L 88-81). 2/5/28 vs. USC Upstate (L 89-67). It was a week to forget for the Ospreys, who lost both games, including a blowout conference loss. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 7-14, 1-9 Big 12. 2/3/28 vs. Loyola Chicago (L 80-77). 2/5/28 vs. #21 Texas (L 116-95). The Horned Frogs missed a golden opportunity for a solid non-conference win, as they blew a 9 point halftime lead in a loss to a 16 win Loyola team. Then, they forgot how to play defense in a blowout loss to Texas. At this rate, Coach Mighty will be lucky to make it through the season. #18 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 16-6, 7-4 Big East. 2/2/28 at DePaul (W 85-53). 2/5/28 at Georgetown (L 76-75). A road split this week for the Red Storm as they lose ground in the conference race. A good effort against Georgetown, but just a little short. Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 13-9, 4-6 Big Ten. 2/2/28 vs. #1 Wisconsin (L 77-63). 2/5/28 at Nebraska (W 83-63). A split this week for the Wildcats, both of the double digit variety. They were hoping for a little better showing against Wisconsin, but no dice. #19 Ohio State (Brett Hawkins) -- 17-5, 6-4 Big Ten. 2/2/28 at Maryland (W 93-85). 2/5/28 vs. #3 Minnesota (W 74-61). Huge week for the Buckeyes as they get a big top 5 win, something that will be crucial come Selection Sunday. Wichita State (David Ginsberg) -- 16-6, 9-4 MVC. 2/2/28 at Illinois State (L 79-73). 2/5/28 at Drake (W 51-40). The Shockers see their 8 game win streak end at the hands of Illinois State (I really hate the Redbirds), but start a new win streak. They only have 1 more game against a team over .500 so it should be smooth sailing now. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 13-9, 6-5 Mountain West. 2/2/28 at Utah State (W 70-68). 2/5/28 vs. Colorado State (W 60-52). The Spartans are rolling! They've won 5 in a row, and are now over .500 in MWC play. That 1-5 start in conference is long gone. Bryant (Rob Nielsen) -- 10-14, 4-9 Northeast. 2/3/28 vs. Fairleigh Dickinson (W 69-49). 2/5/28 vs. Sacred Heart (L 99-82). A split for the Bulldogs, as Coach Nielsen continues to struggle at his new job. Hopefully he can right the ship soon. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 15-8, 7-5 Northeast. 2/3/28 at Robert Morris (W 81-73). 2/5/28 at Central Connecticut (L 68-60). A split for the Seahawks, but what they really need at this point is a nice winning streak. Playing in a small conference, they need all the wins they can get. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 13-9, 4-6 Pac 12. 2/3/28 at #10 UCLA- feature game, highlighted above. 2/5/28 at Washington (W 75-65). A split for the Cardinal, who continue to struggle a bit this season. They still aren't shooting the ball very well. #10 UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 17-5, 8-2 Pac 12. 2/3/28 vs. Stanford- feature game, highlighted above. 2/5/28 vs. Colorado (L 64-54). A bit ironic that the Bruins lose to Colorado after Coach Nielsen is fired from there. They have lost 2 of their last 4, but remain in the hunt for a conference title. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 8-14, 2-8 Pac 12. 2/3/28 vs. Washington (W 69-68). 2/5/28 vs. #25 Arizona (W 52-50). The losing streak is over! The Cougars end their 8 game conference losing streak with 2 big wins, including a win over ranked Arizona! We knew it was only a matter of time, now the question is can they keep it going? Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 12-10, 4-6 SEC. 2/2/28 at Arkansas (L 70-59). 2/5/28 vs. South Carolina (L 68-59). 2 more losses for the Crimson Tide, who are in serious jeopardy of missing the NCAA Tournament. Things need to turn around, in a hurry. Alabama State (Randolph Childress) -- 6-16, 5-6 SWAC. 1/31/28 at Jackson State (L 77-75, OT). 2/5/28 at Grambling State (L 86-73). 2 more losses for the Hornets, both on the road. They've now lost 4 in a row and 6 of 7. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 8-14, 6-5 SWAC. 1/31/28 vs. Texas Southern (W 96-65). 2/5/28 vs. Prairie View A&M (W 71-61). Big week for the Golden Lions who are back over .500 in conference play after a couple solid victories. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 14-10, 9-5 Sun Belt. 1/31/28 vs. Tennessee State (W 68-59). 2/5/28 vs. Appalachian State (W 88-86, OT). Solid week for the Trojans, who get both a non-conference and a conference win as they try to make a late run for the NCAA Tournament. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 13-12, 6-7 WCC. 2/3/28 vs. USC (L 65-62). 2/5/28 vs. Portland (W 102-72). A split for the Toreros who are still trying to find their way in conference play, but did break a 3 game losing streak with the win over Portland. Here's a look at the national top 25 going into the week of Feb. 7-13: Code:
And a look at the mid-major top 25 going into the week of Feb. 7-13: Code:
And now it's time to reveal the first Bubble Watch for the 2027-2028 season. Remember, this is only for the NCAA Tournament, not the whole postseason. I will only list the Locks and the teams projected In. If you don't see your team, that means they are projected out. Locks: St. John's, Ohio State, UCLA In: Wichita State Hopefully within a couple years there will be a major improvement in this. |

Feb. 7-13, 2028
37 games on the schedule this week, including 1 feature game. Let's start there. 2/12/28- Bryant (Rob Nielsen) @ Wagner (Will Brown) -- 22 Bryant turnovers combined with 38.3% shooting did the Bulldogs in, as Wagner led by 13 at halftime and held off a late charge. Final Score: Wagner- 62, Bryant- 53 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: North Carolina (Ariel Pryde) -- 14-9, 6-6 T-6th ACC. 2/9/28 at N.C. State (W 90-82). 2/12/28 vs. Virginia Tech (W 76-75). 2 more wins for the Tar Heels as they try to make a late season push for an at-large bid. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 11-14, 4-9 13th ACC. 2/9/28 vs. Clemson (L 87-59). 2/12/28 at Boston College (W 72-61). A couple steps back this week for the Fighting Irish as they get hammered at home by Clemson. They do get a win at BC which is a quality win, but the rest of their schedule, except for 1 game, is brutal. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 13-12, 6-4 2nd Atlantic Sun. 2/10/28 at Lipscomb (W 81-66). 2/12/28 at Jacksonville (L 89-88). The Ospreys split this week, both games being on the road. That loss at Jacksonville stings though, as Jacksonville has only won 8 games all season. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 8-15, 2-10 10th Big 12. 2/7/28 at Oklahoma (W 76-56). 2/12/28 at Kansas State (L 68-58). A few signs of life from the Horned Frogs, with a nice win at Oklahoma. Unfortunately they can't keep the momentum going. #19 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 18-6, 9-4 T-2nd Big East. 2/9/28 vs. Butler (W 77-66). 2/12/28 vs. Xavier (W 89-46). The Red Storm take care of business this week with 2 impressive home victories and stay in the hunt for a Big East title. Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 15-9, 6-6 T-7th Big Ten. 2/9/28 at Rutgers (W 81-73). 2/12/28 vs. #9 Iowa (W 80-61). Great week for the Wildcats who get a big win over a top 10 team and are back in the hunt for an at-large berth. #6 Ohio State (Brett Hawkins) -- 19-5, 8-4 T-3rd Big Ten. 2/9/28 vs. Michigan State (W 87-78). 2/12/28 vs. Illinois (W 90-78). The Buckeyes continue to roll, staying in the hunt for a Big Ten title. Huge test next week against the #1 team in the nation. Wichita State (David Ginsberg) -- 18-6, 11-4 2nd MVC. 2/9/28 vs. Bradley (W 68-64). 2/12/28 vs. Loyola Chicago (W 73-58). Good week for the Shockers as they beat the conference leaders in Loyola Chicago. They still have some work to do though, but the rest of the schedule is promising. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 14-10, 6-6 T-5th Mountain West. 2/10/28 vs. Santa Clara (W 73-54). 2/12/28 vs. Boise State (L 73-65). The Spartans got a nice non-conference win, but their 6 game winning streak came to an end as they lost to a good Boise State team. Bryant (Rob Nielsen) -- 11-15, 5-10 10th Northeast. 2/10/28 at Mt. St. Mary's (W 69-61). 2/12/28 at Wagner- feature game, highlighted above. A split this week for the Bulldogs, both games on the road. They are in the cellar of the Northeast Conference right now but I'm confident they can dig themselves out. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 17-8, 9-5 2nd Northeast. 2/10/28 vs. St. Francis (PA) (W 87-77). 2/12/28 vs. Bryant- feature game, highlighted above. Good week for the Seahawks who are just a game behind the conference leaders now. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 15-9, 6-6 T-6th Pac 12. 2/10/28 vs. Arizona (W 67-47). 2/12/28 at Oregon State (W 76-73). Good week for the Cardinal who are hitting their stride, also in the hunt for an at-large berth. #14 UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 18-6, 9-3 T-1st Pac 12. 2/10/28 at Oregon State (W 67-59). 2/12/28 at Washington (L 77-63). The Bruins split this week on the road, losing their conference lead but are still in good shape. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 8-16, 2-10 12th Pac 12. 2/10/28 vs. Gonzaga (L 83-66). 2/12/28 at Utah (L 84-74). Tough week for the Cougars who lose all the momentum from last week. They are still hoping to get to 10 wins on the season, and improvement must be made. Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 14-10, 6-6 T-6th SEC. 2/9/28 vs. Florida (W 75-53). 2/12/28 vs. Ole Miss (W 53-52). Much needed wins for the Crimson Tide this week as they get 2 much needed wins and are back to .500 in conference play. Alabama State (Randolph Childress) -- 6-18, 5-8 8th SWAC. 2/7/28 vs. Southern (L 62-48). 2/12/28 vs. Alcorn State (L 68-58). 2 more losses for the Hornets who have lost 6 in a row but have plenty of time to turn it around. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 9-15, 6-6 T-5th SWAC. 2/7/28 vs. SMU (W 80-74). 2/12/28 at Mississippi Valley State (L 68-66). A split for the Golden Lions who get a nice non-conference win, but then take a hard fought loss back on the road in conference play. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 16-10, 11-5 2nd Sun Belt. 2/10/28 vs. Texas State (W 101-87). 2/12/28 at Arkansas Little Rock (W 100-93). 2 more wins for the Trojans who are fighting for a Sun Belt title and an at-large berth. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 14-13, 7-8 5th WCC. 2/10/28 at Pacific (L 78-70). 2/12/28 at St. Mary's (W 78-70). The Toreros were consistent this week, splitting on the road with both games the exact same score. They are middle of the pack in the WCC but hoping to end strong. Here's a look at the national top 25 going into the week of Feb. 14-20: Code:
And here is a look at the mid-major top 25 going into the week of Feb. 14-20: Code:
Here's a look at the Overall Bubble Watch, which sees 2 of our teams in it: Code:
Stanford and North Carolina, 2 teams that haven't had great seasons but are in this overall bubble watch based on their history, both still have work to do. The SOS and RPI of both schools is probably enough that they can afford a couple more losses each, but they'd rather not take that chance. Locks: St. John's, Ohio State, UCLA. In: Northwestern, Wichita State. The changes from last time are that Stanford, North Carolina, and Northwestern are projected in. |

37 games on the schedule this week, no feature games. Let's get to it: North Carolina (Ariel Pryde) -- 15-10, 7-7, T-6th ACC. 2/16/28 vs. Georgia Tech (W 80-42). 2/19/28 vs. #11 Duke (L 100-93, OT). A split for the Tar Heels, who are never happy about losing to their arch rivals, but they battled and took the game to OT at least. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 12-14, 5-9 T-11th ACC. 2/19/28 vs. #3 Virginia (W 83-76). Just 1 game this week for the Fighting Irish, but what a game it was! A huge upset victory over a top 5 team. They still have a lot of work to do, but that's a sign of how good they can be. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 14-13, 7-5 T-2nd Atlantic Sun. 2/17/28 vs. Kennesaw State (W 101-71). 2/19/28 vs. UL Monroe (L 67-63). Another split for the Ospreys, and with just 2 games left, the conference title is no longer a possibility. The best they can do is 2nd, but they could slip all the way to 6th if they lose both games next week. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 8-17, 2-12 10th (last) Big 12. 2/14/28 vs. Kansas (L 69-60, OT). 2/19/28 vs. Oklahoma State (L 63-54). A pair of home 9 point losses for the Horned Frogs this week, 1 of them in overtime. It's clear that Coach Mighty will be job hunting next season, but the board seems content to let him finish the season. There's still a chance they could avoid the cellar. #17 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 20-6, 10-4 T-2nd Big East. 2/15/28 at Hartford (W 106-71). 2/19/28 vs. #14 Villanova (W 68-44). Solid week for the Red Storm, getting an easy non-conference win and a huge top 25 win over a good Villanova team. There's still some tough games coming up though. Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 17-9, 8-6 T-5th Big Ten. 2/16/28 at Maryland (W 66-58). 2/19/28 at Illinois (W 62-49). 2 good road wins for the Wildcats as they are playing their best basketball right now, winners of 5 in a row. #6 Ohio State (Brett Hawkins) -- 19-7, 8-6 T-5th Big Ten. 2/16/28 vs. #1 Wisconsin (L 93-83). 2/19/28 at Michigan (L 92-85). Bad week for the Buckeyes who lost 2 games, including a game to their arch-rivals, and they lose major ground in the conference race. Conference play hasn't exactly been kind. Wichita State (David Ginsberg) -- 21-6, 12-4 2nd MVC. 2/14/28 vs. Colgate (W 80-64). 2/16/28 vs. Alabama A&M (W 68-53). 2/19/28 at Missouri State (W 71-57). 3 more wins, including 2 non-conference wins for the Shockers who continue to roll. They need some help though. With just 2 games left, they need to win both and somehow Loyola needs to lose both for the Shox to get a share of the MVC title. Otherwise, it looks like they'll be a 2 seed in the MVC tourney. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 14-12, 6-8 T-7th Mountain West. 2/16/28 at Air Force (L 55-41). 2/19/28 vs. Wyoming (L 54-48). The win streak is over for the Spartans who drop a pair this week. They still have a shot at the postseason though, especially if they can finish the regular season strong. Bryant (Rob Nielsen) -- 13-15, 7-10 7th Northeast. 2/17/28 vs. Robert Morris (W 59-50). 2/19/28 vs. Central Connecticut (W 81-71). 2 solid wins for the Bulldogs, who have 1 game left, but it'll be a tough one. Still, an encouraging week. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 19-8, 11-5 T-1st Northeast. 2/17/28 at St. Francis (NY) (W 81-63). 2/19/28 at LIU Brooklyn (W 77-57). 2 blowout wins for the Seahawks this week who have won 6 of their last 7 and remain in position for a Northeast regular season title with 2 games left. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 17-9, 8-6 T-4th Pac 12. 2/17/28 vs. Arizona State (W 92-55). 2/19/28 vs. #18 California (W 82-79, OT). Great week for the Cardinal, who get a blowout victory and then an overtime victory over a ranked team. They have won 7 of their last 8. #22 UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 19-7, 10-4 T-1st Pac 12. 2/17/28 at Gonzaga (L 70-47). 2/19/28 vs. Oregon (W 86-45). The Bruins split this week, on the opposite end of a pair of blowouts. The Oregon win broke a mini 2 game losing streak. With a 3 team race for the regular season Pac 12 title, they need to play their best basketball now. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 8-18, 2-12 12th (last) Pac 12. 2/17/28 at Colorado (L 60-28). 2/19/28 at Oregon State (L 88-66). Yikes! 2 more losses for the Cougars, including an embarrassing 28 point effort at Colorado in which they shot 22.2%. They'll definitely want to forget that sooner rather than later. Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 16-10, 8-6 T-5th SEC. 2/16/28 vs. Vanderbilt (W 73-64). 2/19/28 at #16 LSU (W 60-52). Great week for the Crimson Tide who are starting to click. 2 more wins including a road win over a top 25 team. That bodes well for selection Sunday, but still work to do. Alabama State (Randolph Childress) -- 6-19, 5-9 T-8th SWAC. 2/19/28 at Alabama A&M (L 64-58). Just 1 game for the Hornets this week, a loss, but a competitive loss at least. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 10-16, 7-7 T-5th SWAC. 2/14/28 at Jackson State (L 96-75). 2/19/28 at Grambling State (W 97-93). A split for the Golden Lions who get a much needed victory on the road, but they are still underwhelming this season compared to projections. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 17-11, 12-6 2nd Sun Belt. 2/17/28 vs. Miami (OH) (W 85-73). 2/19/28 at Arkansas State (L 74-72). A split for the Trojans, but they lost ground with that loss to Arkansas State and will be kicking themselves for a while. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 15-14, 8-9 5th WCC. 2/17/28 vs. Santa Clara (L 87-63). 2/19/28 vs. San Francisco (W 77-61). Another split for the Toreros who have split the last 3 weeks. They have 1 game left and can finish anywhere between 5th and 7th in the conference. Here's a look at the national top 25 heading into the week of Feb. 21-27: Code:
And now a look at the Mid-Major Top 25 heading into the week of Feb. 14-20: Code:
It's time for the bubble watch, and we start with the Overall Bubble Watch, and we have 1 of our teams represented. Code:
North Carolina remains in the overall bubble watch, not helping their cause much from last week. They remain the last projected team in the field. Unfortunately, as far as the regular season goes, they really only have 1 more game to boost their RPI. They have 4 games left, and 3 of those games are against teams towards the bottom of the conference. Now for the rest of the Bubble Watch. Remember, this is only for the NCAA Tournament. Here we go: Locks: St. John's, Northwestern, Ohio State, Wichita State, UCLA In: Stanford, Alabama A few changes from last week. First, Stanford is off the Overall Bubble Watch and is now projected more safely in, but still not a lock. However, both Northwestern and Wichita State are now projected as locks. Alabama enters the field for the first time, they are now projected in. |

Feb. 21-27, 2028
Only 33 gams on the schedule this week, but 2 of them are feature games. Both in the Pac 12, involving Wazzou. Let's start with those: 2/24/28- Washington State (DeShawn St. John) @ UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- Major developments in Bruin country tonight, as they took a beating from the most unexpected source. Washington State led by 14 at halftime and maintained that double digit lead all through the 2nd half in a complete stunner, as Coach St. John gets what might be his biggest win ever. Final Score: Washington State- 88, UCLA- 78 2/26/28- Stanford (Benito Sanchez) @ Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- Feeding off the momentum of their win 2 days ago, Wazzou kept the heat on, holding Stanford to 33.9% shooting, getting their 2nd stunner of the week in another double digit win. Final Score: Washington State- 69, Stanford- 57 OK, well now that the shock factor is out of the way (although I wouldn't be surprised if there was more to come), let's get to the rest of the weekly recap. North Carolina (Ariel Pryde) -- 16-11, 8-8 T-6th ACC. 2/23/28 at #15 Florida State (L 82-76). 2/26/28 at Wake Forest (W 82-57). A road split for the Tar Heels, who put up a good effort against Florida State but it wasn't meant to be. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 13-15, 6-10 12th ACC. 2/23/28 at #18 Louisville (L 73-49). 2/26/28 vs. Georgia Tech (W 84-60). A split for the Fighting Irish, as they get dominated on the road, but do pick up a solid home victory. Still a disappointing season for the Irish. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 16-13, 9-5 2nd Atlantic Sun. 2/24/28 at NJIT (W 89-66). 2/26/28 at Stetson (W 94-86). The Ospreys finish their conference regular season on a good note with 2 road victories. They finish 2nd in the Atlantic Sun and will be the #2 seed in the Atlantic Sun Tournament. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 10-17, 4-12 9th Big 12. 2/21/28 at Baylor (W 80-69). 2/26/28 at Texas Tech (W 56-54). The surprises continue this week, as the Horned Frogs get 2 road wins this week, temporarily getting them out of the cellar. This probably won't be enough to save Coach Mighty's job, but not finishing last in the conference would be an encouraging finish. #12 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 22-6, 12-4 1st Big East. 2/23/28 at Marquette (W 67-66). 2/26/28 at #6 Providence (W 85-74). Huge week for the Red Storm who go atop the conference with 2 road wins, including a big one over what was the conference leaders. Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 17-11, 8-8 T-7th Big Ten. 2/23/28 at Michigan (L 72-63). 2/26/28 vs. #19 Indiana (L 76-64). A couple setbacks for the Wildcats this week, as they take 2 on the chin against good competition, which will probably hurt their NCAA chances. #10 Ohio State (Brett Hawkins) -- 20-8, 9-7 T-4th Big Ten. 2/23/28 vs. Penn State (W 95-86). 2/26/28 at Purdue (L 61-54). A split for the Buckeyes, as they are not finding life in the Big Ten to be very easy this season. The conference is tough, but a top 4 finish is still doable. #23 Wichita State (David Ginsberg) -- 22-7, 13-5 2nd MVC. 2/23/28 at Southern Illinois (W 100-78). 2/26/28 at Northern Iowa (L 53-43). The Shockers split 2 games on the road this week, missing a chance to share the conference title. As it stands, they finish 2nd and will be the #2 seed in the MVC Tournament. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 15-13, 7-9 T-7th Mountain West. 2/23/28 vs. Fresno State (W 82-71). 2/26/28 vs. Nevada (L 59-37). A split for the Spartans, and a really ugly loss to Nevada. A postseason bid is not assured yet, still work to be done. Bryant (Rob Nielsen) -- 13-16, 7-11 T-7th Northeast. 2/26/28 at St. Francis (PA) (L 88-78). Just 1 game for the Bulldogs this week, and a tough road loss. They win the tiebreaker for the 7th seed in the Northeast Tournament. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 20-9, 12-6 2nd Northeast. 2/24/28 vs. Fairleigh Dickinson (W 81-65). 2/26/28 vs. Sacred Heart (L 74-66). The Seahawks split this week and also miss a chance to share the regular season title. They'll be the #2 seed in the Northeast Tournament. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 18-10, 9-7 T-4th Pac 12. 2/24/28 at Utah (W 76-63). 2/26/28 at Washington State- feature game, highlighted above. The Cardinal split this week, and that unexpected loss to Washington State broke a 6 game winning streak. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 19-9, 10-6 T-2nd Pac 12. 2/24/28 vs. Washington State- feature game, highlighted above. 2/26/28 at Arizona (L 69-56). Really tough week for the Bruins, who lost a ton of ground in the Pac 12 race. They have lost 4 of 5 and are really fading down the stretch. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 10-18, 4-12 12th (last) Pac 12. 2/24/28 at UCLA- feature game, highlighted above. 2/26/28 vs. Stanford- feature game, highlighted above. The Cougars are going to need the miracle of a lifetime to avoid the Pac 12 cellar yet again, but they can at least take some pride in knowing they pulled 2 upset victories this week. Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 16-12, 8-8 T-5th SEC. 2/23/28 vs. #8 Texas A&M (L 73-56). 2/26/28 at Missouri (L 99-81). Bad week for the Crimson Tide who get blown out twice. The possibility of a first round bye in the SEC Tournament is out the door, and they need a really strong finish to feel good about an NCAA Tournament berth. Alabama State (Randolph Childress) -- 7-20, 6-10 9th SWAC. 2/21/28 at Texas Southern (W 71-65). 2/26/28 at Prairie View A&M (L 66-56). A split for the Hornets this week, who get their first win in 9 games with the win at Texas Southern. They still expected better this season and Coach Childress might find his seat a little hotter next season. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 12-16, 9-7 T-4th SWAC. 2/21/28 vs. Southern (W 107-106, OT). 2/26/28 vs. Alcorn State (W 78-65). 2 important wins for the Golden Lions who could still finish in the top 3 in the conference, which would still be underwhelming compared to expectations, but a better finish than what could have been. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 18-11, 13-6 2nd Sun Belt. 2/26/28 at Florida Gulf Coast (W 75-67). A road win this week for the Trojans, who finish the season off against the conference leaders. No matter what happens in that game, Troy is locked into the #2 seed in the Sun Belt Tournament. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 15-15, 8-10 T-5th WCC. 2/26/28 vs. BYU (L 80-72). Not the end of the regular season the Toreros wanted. Their losing conference record was still good enough for a tie for 5th, as there was major difference between them and the top 4 teams in the conference. They win the tiebreaker and will be the #5 seed in the WCC Tournament. Here's a look at the national top 25 heading into the week of Feb. 28-Mar. 5: Code:
And a look at the Mid-Major Top 25 going into the week of Feb. 28-Mar. 5: Code:
Here's a look at the Overall Bubble Watch going into next week, and 2 of our teams are on it. Code:
Northwestern is on the bubble, and they really need a good, strong finish. Their RPI is good enough right now for an at-large berth, but any more losses and it'll change. North Carolina, despite the top 15 RPI and top 5 SOS, finds themselves on the outside looking in during this edition of the Bubble Watch. They need a strong finish as well. Here's a look at the rest of the bubble watch: Locks: St. John's, Ohio State, UCLA, Stanford In: Wichita State |

Feb. 28-Mar. 5, 2028
29 games on the schedule this week, and 4 of them are feature games. We'll start there, going to the Northeast first. 3/1/28- Northeast Quarterfinal - (7) Bryant (Rob Nielsen) vs. (2) Wagner (Will Brown) -- This one turned out to be closer than expected, especially since Wagner led by 14 at halftime. 50.9% shooting was enough though, as Wagner moves on. Final Score: (2) Wagner- 82, (7) Bryant- 73 Next we go to the ACC: 3/4/28- North Carolina (Ariel Pryde) @ Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- Carolina was held to just 30.4% shooting, and that was their downfall in this ACC game, despite the rest of the stats being almost even. Final Score: Notre Dame- 74, North Carolina- 66 Moving to the Big Ten: 3/4/28- #12 Ohio State (Brett Hawkins) @ Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- Another close game, but free throws were the difference in this one, as Ohio State made 6 more free throws. Final Score: #12 Ohio State- 76, Northwestern- 71 And finally, the SWAC: 3/4/28- Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) @ Alabama State (Randolph Childress) -- Both teams really needed a win, but it was Alabama State who came through. They forced 20 turnovers and led by 15 points at halftime, holding on to get a much needed win. Final Score: Alabama State- 75, Arkansas Pine Bluff- 67 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: North Carolina (Ariel Pryde) -- 17-12, 9-9 7th ACC. 3/1/28 vs. Clemson (W 80-68). 3/4/28 at Notre Dame- feature game, highlighted above. The Tar Heels split to end the regular season, holding 7th place all by themselves. They'll be the #7 seed in the ACC Tournament. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 14-16, 7-11 T-8th ACC. 3/1/28 at #5 Duke (L 82-67). 3/4/28 vs. North Carolina- feature game, highlighted above. A split for the Fighting Irish, who finished by winning 4 of their last 6. They ended up in a 5 way tie for 8th place, unfortunately drew most of the short straws. They'll be the #11 seed in the ACC Tournament. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 16-14, 9-5 Atlantic Sun. 2/29/28- Atlantic Sun Quarterfinal vs. (7) Stetson (L 69-56). Tough way to end the season for the Ospreys, who are going to need a miracle to be selected for a postseason tournament. Even the CIT seems unlikely. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 12-17, 6-12 9th Big 12. 2/28/28 vs. #8 Iowa State (W 85-83). 3/4/28 vs. West Virginia (W 75-73). They say it's not how you start, it's how you finish. The Horned Frogs have won 4 in a row, 3 of those against teams with winning records. They are playing well right now. They'll be the #9 seed in the Big 12 Tournament, but Coach Mighty will still need a miracle to keep his job. #6 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 24-6, 14-4 1st Big East. 3/1/28 vs. #24 Seton Hall (W 82-58). 3/4/28 vs. Creighton (W 95-77). 2 blowout wins for the Red Storm, who ease into the Big East regular season title. They'll be the top seed in the Big East Tournament. Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 17-13, 8-10 T-8th Big Ten. 3/1/28 vs. #4 Minnesota (L 60-50). 3/4/28 vs. #12 Ohio State- feature game, highlighted above. The Wildcats take 2 more losses this week, ending the season on a 4 game losing streak against really good competition. They lost the coin flip for the 8 seed and will instead be the #9 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. #12 Ohio State (Brett Hawkins) -- 22-8, 11-7 4th Big Ten. 3/1/28 at Rutgers (W 89-81). 3/4/28 at Northwestern- feature game, highlighted above. 2 more wins for the Buckeyes, who end the regular season on a positive note. They'll be the #4 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. #25 Wichita State (David Ginsberg) -- 22-8, 13-5 MVC. 3/3/28- MVC Quarterfinal vs. (7) Bradley (L 68-65). The Shockers get upset in the MVC Tournament, and will likely lose their national ranking. Never fear, they should still be safely in the field on Selection Sunday. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 17-13, 9-9 T-6th Mountain West. 3/1/28 at UNLV (W 71-61). 3/4/28 at San Diego State (W 62-49). The Spartans finish the regular season by winning 3 of 4 and have put themselves in position for a postseason bid. They win the tiebreaker and will be the #6 seed in the Mountain West Tournament. Bryant (Rob Nielsen) -- 13-17, 7-11 Northeast. 3/1/28- Northeast Quarterfinal vs. (2) Wagner- feature game, highlighted above. The season ends for the Bulldogs, and there will be no cinderella run this season. However, Coach Nielsen could be in consideration for Coach of the Year in the Northeast Conference. How you ask? Well, he led Bryant to their best conference finish in 5 years. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 21-10, 12-6 Northeast. 3/1/28- Northeast Quarterfinal vs. (7) Bryant- feature game, highlighted above. 3/4/28- Northeast Semifinal vs. (5) Mt. St. Mary's (L 73-67). The Seahawks exit the Northeast Tournament much earlier than expected. That early exit will probably cost them an NCAA Tournament berth. It's possible they could still get in if nobody steals a bid, but most likely they are headed to the NIT. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 18-12, 9-9 T-6th Pac 12. 3/2/28 vs. Oregon (L 78-72). 3/4/28 at Colorado (L 89-67). Rough finish to the regular season for the Cardinal, who have lost 3 in a row. They'll be the #7 seed in the Pac 12 Tournament. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 20-10, 11-7 T-2nd Pac 12. 3/2/28 vs. Utah (W 87-60). 3/4/28 at Arizona State (L 72-65). The Bruins split this week, and also lose the tiebreaker for the #2 seed. They'll be the #3 seed in the Pac 12 Tournament. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 10-20, 4-14 12th Pac 12. 3/2/28 vs. Arizona State (L 62-56). 3/4/28 at California (L 72-64). Good effort for the Cougars this week, but the results are the same: 2 more losses. They'll be the #12 seed in the Pac 12 Tournament. Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 17-13, 9-9 T-8th SEC. 3/1/28 at Kentucky (L 80-72). 3/4/28 at Tennessee (W 94-63). A split for the Crimson Tide who didn't have the best of seasons. They lost the tiebreaker for the #8 seed and will be the #9 seed in the SEC Tournament. Alabama State (Randolph Childress) -- 8-21, 7-11 T-8th SWAC. 2/28/28 vs. Mississippi Valley State (L 81-68). 3/4/28 vs. Arkansas Pine Bluff- feature game, highlighted above. The Hornets win their regular season finale, giving coach Childress career win #200! Unfortunately the rest of the season has been a disaster for a team that was supposed to be in the mix for the conference title. They at least win the tiebreaker for the #8 seed and will be the #8 seed in the SWAC Tournament. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 12-18, 9-9 5th SWAC. 2/28/28 at Alabama A&M (L 87-81). 3/4/28 at Alabama State- feature game, highlighted above. The season ending trip through Alabama wasn't kind to the Golden Lions, who also vastly underperformed this season. They were also expected to compete for the SWAC Title. They'll be the #5 seed in the SWAC Tournament. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 19-11, 14-6 2nd Sun Belt. 3/2/28 at #21 Georgia Southern (W 85-71). A big win to finish the regular season for the Trojans, who upset a ranked team on the road. They'll be the #2 seed in the Sun Belt Tournament. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 15-16, 8-10 WCC. 3/4/28- WCC Quarterfinal vs. (4) Pacific (L 97-89). The Toreros will end their season with a losing record, although I guess it's possible the CBI or CIT could send them an invite. Not likely though. Here's a look at the national top 25 as we head into the final week of the season before the postseason tournaments, Mar. 6-12: Code:

The final bubble watch of the season is out, let's take a look at the Overall Bubble Watch, in which 2 of our teams is there: Code:
Stanford is on the bubble, but they really could use a win in the Pac 12 Tournament to feel good about things. The more surprising bubble team is North Carolina. Even with that high RPI and SOS, the loss to Notre Dame was damaging. They may need 2 wins in the ACC Tournament. Mar. 6-12, 2028
31 games on the schedule this week, with 2 being feature games. We'll start in the SWAC: 3/10/28- SWAC Semifinal - (8) Alabama State (Randolph Childress) vs. (5) Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 52.4% shooting for Alabama State was enough to advance, as they do so easily. Final Score: (8) Alabama State- 94, (5) Arkansas Pine Bluff- 79 Now we move to the Pac 12: 3/10/28- Pac 12 Semifinal - (7) Stanford (Benito Sanchez) vs. (3) UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- The Bruins forced 18 Stanford turnovers which led to several easy buckets. Despite Stanford hitting 11 three pointers, UCLA made more field goals and free throws as they get the win. Final Score: (3) UCLA- 81, (7) Stanford- 74 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: North Carolina (Ariel Pryde) -- 19-13, 9-9 ACC. 3/8/28- ACC Second Round vs. (10) Pittsburgh (W 72-55). 3/9/28- ACC Quarterfinal vs. (2) #5 Duke (W 78-60). 3/10/28- ACC Semifinal vs. (6) #12 Louisville (L 72-51). Overall, a successful tournament for the Tar Heels. It's always satisfaction when they beat their arch rivals. That win may have been enough to put them in the NCAA Tournament. If not they should be a high seed in the NIT Tournament. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 14-17, 7-11 ACC. 3/7/28- ACC First Round vs. (14) Wake Forest (L 86-81). The Fighting Irish limp to a finish this season, taking a bad loss in the ACC Tournament. Their season is most likely over. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 16-14, 9-5 Atlantic Sun. The Ospreys played their conference tournament last week, and are hopeful for a CIT bid. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 12-18, 6-12 Big 12. 3/8/28- Big 12 First Round vs. (8) Oklahoma State (L 76-53). The Horned Frogs get hammered in their first game of the Big 12 Tournament. They end up winning 4 of their last 5 but it won't be enough. The season is over, and most likely Coach Mighty's tenure at TCU is over as well. #6 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 27-6, 14-4 Big East. 3/9/28- Big East Quarterfinal vs. (9) Marquette (W 87-62). 3/10/28- Big East Semifinal vs. (5) Georgetown (W 108-103). 3/11/28- Big East Championship vs. (2) #9 Providence (W 80-71). The Red Storm win their third Big East Tournament in a row, capping off another great season. They are in line for a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. At the very least they should be a #2 seed. Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 21-13, 8-10 Big Ten. 3/9/28- Big Ten Second Round vs. (8) Michigan (W 68-60, OT). 3/10/28- Big Ten Quarterfinal vs. (1) #1 Wisconsin (W 85-77). 3/11/28- Big Ten Semifinal vs. (12) Purdue (W 68-66). 3/12/28- Big Ten Championship vs. (2) #4 Minnesota (W 73-69, OT). What a run for the Wildcats! They beat 2 of the top 4 teams in the nation, battle through 2 overtime games, and win an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Their RPI is good enough for a high seed, but 13 losses probably means a seed in the 9 or 10 line. #10 Ohio State (Brett Hawkins) -- 22-9, 11-7 Big Ten. 3/10/28- Big Ten Quarterfinal vs. (12) Purdue (L 87-76). Not a good tournament for the Buckeyes, who get upset in their first game by a double digit seed. This will definitely hurt their seeding in the NCAA Tournament, probably a seed between 4 and 7. Wichita State (David Ginsberg) -- 22-8, 13-5 MVC. The Shockers played their conference tournament last week and are hopeful for an NCAA bid, but realize the conference they play in may give them an NIT big instead. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 19-14, 9-9 Mountain West. 3/8/28- Mountain West First Round vs. (11) Wyoming (W 73-46). 3/9/28- Mountain West Quarterfinal vs. (3) Colorado State (W 49-35). 3/10/28- Mountain West Semifinal vs. (2) Nevada (L 87-68). The Spartans do pull 1 upset in the Mountain West Tournament, but can't get by a good Nevada team. They definitely won't be getting an at-large birth, but are hopeful of an NIT berth. Bryant (Rob Nielsen) -- 13-17, 7-11 Northeast. The Bulldogs played their conference tournament last week and their season is probably over. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 21-10, 12-6 Northeast. The Seahawks played their conference tournament last week and should be getting a call from the NIT. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 20-13, 9-9 Pac 12. 3/8/28- Pac 12 First Round vs. (10) Arizona State (W 63-53). 3/9/28- Pac 12 Quarterfinal vs. (2) Arizona (W 60-57). 3/10/28- Pac 12 Semifinal vs. (3) UCLA- feature game, highlighted above. Not a bad run for the Cardinal, who get knocked out by an old nemesis in the semifinals. Winning 2 of 3, including an upset over Arizona, might be enough to get them into the NCAA Tournament. Even if it does, they won't be a very good seed. Possibly double digits. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 22-11, 11-7 Pac 12. 3/9/28- Pac 12 Quarterfinal vs. (6) Colorado (W 88-67). 3/10/28- Pac 12 Semifinal vs. (7) Stanford- feature game, highlighted above. 3/11/28- Pac 12 Championship vs. (1) #19 California (L 74-68). The Bruins fall just short of another Pac 12 tournament title, but will be safely in the NCAA Tournament. With double digit losses, it's likely their seed will be fairly low, maybe an 8 or 9 seed. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 10-21, 4-14 Pac 12. 3/8/28- Pac 12 First Round vs. (5) Oregon (L 61-60). Gallant effort for the Cougars, who led by 8 at halftime against Oregon. They'll be kicking themselves for the loss. Another tough season for Coach St. John and you have to wonder how much longer it'll be before his seat warms up. Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 18-14, 9-9 SEC. 3/9/28- SEC Second Round vs. (8) Auburn (W 79-62). 3/10/28- SEC Quarterfinal vs. (1) #18 LSU (L 74-70). The Crimson Tide played LSU tough but couldn't pull the upset. It's been a disappointing season, and they'll probably be looking at a mid to low seed in the NIT. Alabama State (Randolph Childress) -- 11-22, 7-11 SWAC. 3/7/28- SWAC First Round vs. (9) Texas Southern (W 83-71). 3/8/28- SWAC Quarterfinal vs. (1) Jackson State (W 65-44). 3/10/28- SWAC Semifinal vs. (5) Arkansas Pine Bluff- feature game, highlighted above. 3/11/28- SWAC Championship vs. (10) Grambling State (L 77-68). A great run for the Hornets, who came within 1 game of busting somebody's bubble. It's a shame they didn't play like this all season. Instead, they'll be sitting at home during the postseason tournaments, hoping momentum from a strong conference tournament pays off next season. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 13-19, 9-9 SWAC. 3/8/28- SWAC Quarterfinal vs. (4) Alabama A&M (W 91-82). 3/10/28- SWAC Semifinal vs. (8) Alabama State- feature game, highlighted above. Tough season for the Golden Lions who drastically underachieve. They'll also be missing out on the postseason this year. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 20-12, 14-6 Sun Belt. 3/11/28- Sun Belt Semifinal vs. (6) Florida Gulf Coast (W 76-75). 3/12/28- Sun Belt Championship vs. (1) #23 Georgia Southern (L 87-86). The Trojans fall just short against a great Georgia Southern team in the Sun Belt title game. It'll be tough for them to steal an at-large bid since they don't play in a power conference, but they should be a lock for an NIT bid. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 15-16, 8-10 WCC. The Toreros played their conference tournament last week and are likely done for the season. Congrats to St. John's and Northwestern for winning their conference tournaments. Also give credit to Troy and Alabama State for their near misses. Besides that, it wasn't a great conference tournament weeks for our FOFC coached teams. That being said, I expect to see over half our teams making a postseason tournament, hopefully over 60%. Of the 19 FOFC coached teams, I think 12 or 13 should see postseason play. |
