Uses the same codebase as the windows version (apart from the platform/OS stuff) so plays identically.

It works fine on my 4 year old MacBook Pro but is a bit nippier on my newer iMac .... so yeah should be fine imho.

Marc- Would you happen to know if the new version (or current) would be able to handle the HD4000 integrated graphics with Ivy Bridge? It feels like a lot of business computers are going that route in the coming months and figure it'd be a considerable part of the userbase.

I'm wondering that too, as well as if they will run other games. That is my lean on my next laptop, but I'm very wary of integrated graphics.

Benchmarks are up for some games. But I don't believe FM is nearly as close to them in terms of needs. I might be wrong though.

Intel HD Graphics 4000 - Notebookcheck.net Tech

But it does seem like there is a huge push toward integrated graphics with the new IB processors. I can't buy a laptop that won't play this.

So I tried to fire up my copy of FM11 last night and I got these errors all the sudden. I tried uninstalling and re-installing the game again last night but I still get the same errors. I did a little digging and read that you should put a --reset_preferences in the launch command to get it to reset, but that isn't working either. I know its a shot in the dark but has anyone else ever ran across this problem?

I gave up trying to get my legitimate copy of FM 2011 to work. The copy protection system on the online version simply wouldn't work anymore and I couldn't get any support. Sorry you're having this problem, hope you figure it out.

Finally got suspended for complaining about uncalled penalties... just in time for the BSP play-off. Silly me.

No, the Amazon version used some sort of weird copy protection system that had a host of problems. Well, it did for me (and a few others, from the reviews).

That error means that one of your config.xml documents is currupt. The most likely culprit are added photos, faces, or kits.

Dola- if you are using a custom skin this could also be the cause of this problem.

Been trying to find a mod/game save that starts in the Premier League with one team blank with X amount transfer budget. Had a great game in FM11 with a similar game. Can't find one for 12.

So this is a kid of mine in a long term game. Has loads and loads of potential and is natural in FOUR positions. DL, DC, DM and MC.

Where do you play him?

DMC or MC - deep-lying playmaker or box-to-box midfielder.

I was thinking DL as a wing-back, getting him forward as often as possible. Takes advantage of crossing and tackling while helping cover up for his pace. Could also use him as a back-line crash-the-box type on corners thanks to his good heading.

Had one of those FM/Real Life cross-over confusion moments earlier during the England v Italy game on tv earlier. When the commentator mentioned Theo Walcott being on the bench my first thought was "he cant be, he broke his leg last week".

Took a few seconds for me to remember that that was in my FM2012 Arsenal game and not Real Life. I need to stick to fictional players to stop my old brain getting confused.

I'd be worried about his lack of pace as a WB...leaving gaps in the back.

As a tempo-setting playmaker (preferably deep-lying to cover up for his low creativity), you get to take advantage of his passing, his tackling, etc.

And if you play him as box-to-box he'll be a bit slow, but he's got the stamina for it, and can do the hard-work in the midfield behind a creative-type AMC or trequartista.

I've been alternating him between FB-s and DM-s in a 4-2-1-2-1. Straight back four, DM-s, AM-d, DLP-s at MC, two wingers and an out and out forward.

He's coming into his third year at the club and I want to put him in one spot and really get him going. DL is my biggest need at the moment so he may go there. I'm VERY strong in midfield.

I'd upload my Plymouth City fictional save for you, as it would serve this purpose; but I'm pretty sure I renamed Malta as my fictional country in that one too.

I've got an editor file for FM12 I can send you, it's only 3kb.

Thames Valley Rovers, fictional team from West London with about 45mil pounds to spend. To make it a little more challenging they've only got a 4000 capacity stadium and the lowest reputation in the EPL though.

Hmm, I've got everything into the game correctly, but the team didn't show up in my new game.

Perhaps because it's not an .xml file. Hmm indeed.

Hmm indeed. I'll send you the XML as well.

edit - They should replace Wigan in the EPL (with Wigan bumped down to the Championship).

What formations would you guys recommend for three strikers? I've usually play a 4-1-3-2 but I have 3 strikers that I'd really like to get on the field.

I had the same problem. I also had two World Class Full Backs so I was able to make the following work in 11:

DL - Wingback (Automatic)
DCL - Central Defender (Defend)
DCR - Central Defender (Defend)
DR - Wingback (Automatic)
MCL - Advanced Playmaker (Support)
MC - Ball Winning Midfielder (Defend)
MCR - Box to Box (Support)
STCL - Teraquista (Attack)
STC - Advance Forward (Attack)
STCR - Complete Forward (Attack)

Philosophy - Very Fluid
Passing Style - Direct
Creative Freedom - Expressive
Tackling - More Aggressive
Marking - Zonal Marking

I found that the the key player in this was the Box to Box Midfielder. If I had someone truly capable of playing that position the formation worked well. If not, not. Obviously many of the goals scored with this were done in counters.

I play a 4-3-3 with three MC's and three strikers. Cheap option related to payroll (no ML or MC). It opens things up a bit on the counter, but there's nothing better than seeing three 18+ pace players running rampant in the open field for your team. I've managed to still stay in the top third in goals allowed. Spent good money on two great DC's, which really keeps that back line solid against counters.

I play a 4-2-3-1 with an advanced forward on support at the top and two inside forwards on the wings behind (both of who have preferred moves of cutting inside) with an advanced playmaker in the middle. Seems to work pretty well.

I don't have any shouts that I use as part of that tactic. I will, of course, use some based on the situation.

One other thing I found was that aligning the Advanced Playmaker and the Teraquista on the same side of the field was important as those two would often have to link up together to have any kind of offensive attack. Based on the footedness of my players I have them on the left, but, in theory, the mirror image should also work.

Went into the season as my probable #3 striker (and technically he plays better as a Trequartista, where I can't play him since I paid a ton for "The Traitor" Giovanni Rossi in the offseason to play there), but he's fought back and scored 15 league goals in 18 league games so far this season as an Advanced Forward, rendering Alessandro Matri surplus to requirements.

That being said, he's just barely holding off my (now 17, was 16 at the start of the season) young poacher, Leo Percassi, who has 7 goals in 10 league appearances (7 starts and 3 as a sub). I brought Percassi up for the proverbial "cup of tea" and he's scoring a goal every 101 minutes (Quagliarella is a goal every 100 mins for comparison).

73 goals in the league so far this season...a bit spoiled for offense, with my midfielders contributing 34 goals (across 8 players). And my defense has only conceded 21 in 30 league games.

Good season!

Yeah - Chiellini is good for like...2 of those a season that end up in goals. The other 40 end up getting cleared away. I have a love/hate relationship with them...I keep intending to make him stop, then one will end up in a scramble+goal and I don't.

I like the FK curled over the wall by Pirlo for the 2nd goal too. That one was frigging clutch, because ManU was getting some opportunities at my end (and coming real close) throughout the game. So that iced it pretty well and made me scream in happiness.

Pedro broke his leg early in the 2018/19 season for me and announced his retirement for the end of the season. He's only 31 and hadn't begun to decline until the 6 month absence.

I am sad.
