Stat of the now, showing how ridiculous prices have gotten in England:
Tickets for Arsenal's Champions League game today against Bayern: 96 Pounds. Season Tickets for Bayern Munich: 94 pounds. So it cost more for one game at Arsenal then it does for 17 or more games at Bayern.

Where are the seats located? How do the costs compare to other teams in the same countries?

@ sovereign : Bayern is in general the most expensive in Germany (but those season tickets are standing room in the classic "fan section" behind one goal, basically itīs where you go if you are either in a fan club or a young guy not minding close quarters and be right in the thick of things)
And the difference definitely isnīt that extreme, but from what i can gather on average tickets for EPL matches are about twice as expensive as Bundesliga tickets. The lack of standing room tickets (which still make up around 20 - 30 % of most germany stadiums) is part of the reason obviously, since those are lowering the average a lot here (are about 50% cheaper than the cheapest seats) 2010/2011 data : Money | Compare European Football Leagues recent guardian article : How do ticket prices for the Premier League compare with Europe? | News | guardian.co.uk Quote:
were those tickets the lowest available category ? (even the most expensive tickets at the 2nd leg in munich will be less expensive though, i think itīs about 70 pound) On the matches played by the german teams so far : Dortmund caught a break in Donezk with the home team basically coming straight from their winter break, but still a 2:2 without 2 very important pieces (Subotic and Gundogan) was a good result. Bayern with a stellar game, imo they are a big time favourite to win it all as they are an even better team than last year. Martinez is amazing, the way he kills the opositions game in midfield is special. Guy seems to be everywhere and win every tough challenge (and then knows what to do with the ball). Schweinsteiger and him in the centre of the midfield are going to be really, really good.

With regards to ticket prices at Arsenal - not quite the whole picture for most matches there are tickets for 25UKP available and even lower (10/11UKP) for kids, senior citizens and suchlike.
Season tickets ARE extortionate at Arsenal and most UK clubs because they guarantee you tickets for the biggest matches where you're in a lottery to get in otherwise (most of the big teams all are in the nice situation where they can largely charge whatever they want and guarantee selling out regularly). (please note if you're not an Arsenal 'fan' then you'll pay more - not by a huge amount though, a premium of around 10UKP per ticket) While this is far more expensive than it used to be, its still somewhat cheaper than going to watch Orlando Magic ... Shocking yes, but it's far from over. I can easily see Barca putting 3-4 past Milan at the Nou Camp and then nobody will remember the first leg. It'd be nice if they went out though - make the road a little smoother for Juve.

This might have been the most frustrating game ever tobeatch from chelsea...so many chancrs and no one ever just takes a rip...they keep looking for one more little pass and end up with nothing.
If it hadn't been for a great tackle by cahill and the rip shot by Hazard (exactly what no one elae on the pitch was doing) I might have busted the remote into the fireplace |

Well, Torres took a few shots, they just weren't anywhere near the goal.
At this point I'm mostly waiting for next year, when we should have multiple useful strikers and a competent manager. |

I'm rooting for Chelsea to get something just to make the gap 14 or 15 points at the top but if a Chelsea loss helps them finish fifth or worse that's okay too I guess.

Italian FA, UEFA, FIFA, anybody going to do something about the abuse Balotelli is taking or are you going to wait until he goes "Catona" on someone and then condemn him for not continuing to take the abuse?

I can't believe Nani got a red card for that. What a horrible way to go out, things were looking good before that absurd call changed the game.
It's hard enough to beat Real Madrid without shit like that happening. |

I can't have any complaints about the red card, it was clearly dangerous play. There was no intent, but you need to know where the other players are when you stick your leg out like that.
FWIW Roy Keane agrees with me in the UK post match analysis. |

I literally switched on the game after the challenge but before Nani got up. Saw the replay they showed and thought WTF? However, watching the other angles in the post match analysis, I can see why he got red: you could only see that he half pulled out from the one angle, and from the refs POV it looked terrible and red all day long.
He was maybe unlucky, but from what the ref would have seen it's red every day of the week

Never thought I'd write this, but I though Ronaldo made a classy move after his goal by not celebrating it heavily.

The kick to the chest looks so bad, but i must agree that a red card was probably too harsh, as Nani was looking at the ball and not noticing Arbeloa was running towards it too so it was not intentional.

Not sure why everybody is worried about the intention? Simple fact is find me that in the rules. It was wreckless. I would have given yellow but I think the official was well within reason to go red. I know everybody is upset at how it impacted the game but I don't see it as all that controversial of a red card. |

It looks like a karate kick to the chest. He had to go, intent or not.

You could say it was a reckless high foot, that would make it a yellow card. It's only red if Nani uses "excessive force" which clearly did not happen imo since he just had his foot up, it wasn't like Nani kicked Arbeloa or anything.
Straight from FIFA's website on the interpretation of Law 12 (Fouls and Misconduct): fifa.com Quote:
That is careless or reckless, should have either been just a foul or a yellow. |

Even on the video above, the side angle looks like careless/reckless, but the angle from behind, which was roughly the ref's angle, looks like excessive force: you can't see the leg soften on impact and it looks like Nani goes straight through Arbeloa ManU are not my team, and i always an English team to beat a foreign team, but I don't think it could be said to be wrong for a red. It is a case for video evidence though, as i think it probably would have been yellow if the ref had seen the side angle

I hate defending united but that isn't a red. You have to take into account intent and it clearly wasnt there. And Keane would say the sky is green if SAF said it was blue. That means less than nothing.
The handball on the line does probably even things up however. |
