Watched her on Conan or something and she talked about how she played WOW and had to stop using her mic because people were recognizing her.

I think we should wait until post #9916 to discuss whether pictures in this thread should really be "cool." Thoughts?

One of the letters looks like a green titty.

Plus, they have gone with the 'Fuck Idaho' American flag of 1890 as there are 42 stars instead of 43.

This was on the newspapers over here.

I found it a bit morbid and creepy to post.

I agree that the standard is low for "cool" in this thread.

That said, I have no idea what's so special about the pic you posted. That's's not me being Mr. American; I just don't see anything special about it. A bunch of anti-American Muslims, burning the American flag, big whoop. I am actually curious what value of "cool" you see in that picture? I would like to think you're posting that because you actually think it's a cool pic, but my guess you're actually posting it for your own well-noted and extreme political reasons, which I don't really think is necessary in this thread. We have plenty of other threads for you to continue espousing your anti-American views.

Yeah, where did they pick that flag up? 1894?

EDIT: I stand corrected: 1890
42 Star Flag -unofficial- (U.S.)

EDIT #2: It looks like there are 6 rows of 8 not 5 so it's 48 stars, so anytime prior to Alaska and Hawaii. Still, old flag.

We shipped those to the Middle East when the new states were added as part of the same program through which we sent them the "Chicago Cubs 1989 National League Champions" t-shirts.

That would explain the rage the ME feels towards us. They thought the stuff they were getting was part of the legendary champion Chicago Cubs. Then, the internet comes out, and they realize they're all fans of a team that hasn't won a title since the Ottoman Empire.

Also looks like there are only 12 stripes as well. I was looking for the Angry Bert in the pic, but failed to find it.

Nothing wrong with a good flag burning. If you're offended by flag burning you don't truly understand America.

I was like Chief, confused as to what was so special about the image.

So. My 3 year old misbehaves sometimes. I know it's often a ploy to get some attention. What do you do ? Just ignore his childish ways ? Teaching him that purposely acting in a way to get a response - won't get him the attention he craves ? Maybe, give in to his desperation, and either punish him for his actions - or try to reason with him about his behavior ?

It's really an interesting puzzle. On one hand, he must be taught that acting out isn't acceptable. He could break something, make a mess, hurt himself - all things that 'must' be dealt with. On the other, any means of 'teaching' is showing him that acting like that gets him the attention he is craving. Sigh. Is tough when it's your 3 year old .

When it's a grown adult though, I usually just roll my eyes and think .. "What a tool".

Gotta love it when an animated gif of someone being killed in an auto accident is cool, but a picture of people in another country doing something with the utmost passion is pointless...so pointless in fact, that just posting the picture makes someone a three year old tool.

Hi, I'm international perspective, check me out sometime.

Hi, I'm international perspective, check me out sometime.

I think the issue people are having is more similar to say if an Eagles fan went to a Giants message board and posted all kinds of derogatory statements at the Giants fans, or a Microsoft fan did the same on a Apple Enthusiast's forum trashing various Apple products.

It probably is one thing to have an opinion that differs than others, which is all fine and well. But when you brazenly express that opinion in an environment hostile to that train of thought, it usually comes across as trying to attract insults, abuse or injury similar to what is commonly called on the internet as "trolling".

So whether you agree or disagree, the majority of users on this forum are from the United States and probably a majority of those people don't necessarily like the image of their flag being burned. So posting that image here is being seen as attempting to troll. It would be just the same if I went and posted a picture of someone burning a Koran on a majority Islamic message board.

So I am pretty sure this discussion has very little to do with what those people in that picture are choosing to do or what they are allowed to do or if it is even "right". The discussion is entirely based on what thought process you went through before deciding to post that here in a "cool picture thread" and if the desire was simply what you have achieved by inciting people and getting insults thrown your way to try to prove some point in a backwards manner.

What the hell does that have to do with what I said?

You realize what country we are from around here (mostly), right? Why exactly would you expect equal reactions?

Fine post Alan, and though I disagree, I appreciate you putting so much thought into it. I just thought it was a cool picture...very passionate, very honest. I decided to share it because of that, and I guarantee a few people on here felt the same way, but they're not interested in being labeled a...whatever...by the patriotic homers around here, so they didn't post their thoughts.
