I think that hacker mission was the toughest I've dealt with so far. A tip that may or may not help...I kept thinking that the AI didn't know where my guys were (no idea why I thought that) but after getting it through my head that I wasn't sneaking up on them I found myself making better decisions. |

This does seem helpful, I've been assuming the same thing. I figured all they knew was the location of qthe hacker, so I made all my assumptions based on them moving in that general direction, looking for those sight lines, etc. My attempts tomorrow will hopefully be more fruitful with this newfound knowledge

I could be wrong but I think they look for other movement first. I noticed that I wasable to free up my shotgun if I kept him out of sight that first turn. The red started to move on the hacker at that point and I was able to use the shotgun to get behind a couple that were near him. After getting them I was able to set up a pretty good kill zone with my two. Though maybe I read too much into what happened when I was successful (finally). Also, as someone else mentioned; that one seems to be the hardest one so far (the next ones weren't as hard). I was also worried that the missions would keep getting harder. |

Wow, great tips guys! I tried one last time before bed, and I think this info made all the difference as I finally succeeded. I definitely took different actions than I would have previously, and they paid off. So, thanks!
Oh, and this game is phenomenal!

boy I suck at this too Radii. I need a group of guys with all rocket launchers!
Funny thing I seem to do better when I have fewer guys. |

I'm not very good yet either, 2-3 so far in multiplayer. Have definitely seen that I haven't thought things out well enough on some stages. Also had a problem with leaving guys too much in the open. |

I DID see you chelelnge me to a game when I was offline., mckerney. I tried to accept but it wouldn't seem to jump in the right place. It also didn't tell me what server you were logged into.

Uploaded my latest game to YouTube.
On the bottom I had the advantage on him with positioning, though was disappointed to lose my shotgun at the bottom in round one. Up top I managed to get good position on his machine gun which came through guessing what he was going to do. I got kind of lucky taking out his last shotgun because if he saw me first I was dead. Thankfully I managed to get behind him, not sure how things would have gone for me if it was one on one between our last shotguns. |

I'm finding that playing some instant skirmishes is making the campaign easier for me - just practicing and getting the hang of things is helping a bit.

I've found playing some things out until you get to the point where you feel comfortable predicting the enemy moves and then making your plans from there helps a lot. In the game I posted the video of I was helped out by planning my opponents move I was helped out by playing through my enemies moves by figuring out that I my machine gun on the bottom right was dead in turn 2, but if I moved him back a bit I'd be able to get my shotgun to the cover in time I could take out his shotgun as he killed my machine gun. Then again by figuring out that my last machine gun up top was dead if his shotgun saw me first, but after mapping out where I thought his shotgun would be going I guess my machine gun could go up and stay out of his expected line of sight. |

I finished the tutorial and am now finding out how embarrassingly bad I am at the single-player campaign but having fun trying to learn and improve.

Hmm. Looking at it, it doesn't seem like it'd appeal to me. I'll have to watch the video later and see.

This game keep unveiling new layers which I love. Finally connected online and it's pretty cool that you can actually load the games which were played to view them.
Believe that it is Texas 1 that I signed onto. I am EagleFan (should be easy to remember) if anyone wants to kick my butt sometime. |

I can't figure out how the play by email feature works in this game. I gave my free copy to a friend and would like to challenge him to a match but we both keep very different hours, so play by email is optimal for us. I went to create a match last night but when I enter his username it tells me he can't be found on the server... Does this mean that in order to begin a match, he has to be available and online at the time the match is created? If so, thats a real bummer for me. I hope I'm just doing something wrong...

Gamersgate still has this on sale for 20, and I'm still interested if anyone wants to split the cost.

Multi-player is a lot of fun. Haven't run into any a-holes yet which is also a good thing.
Just had my best game yet. An underdog going into the game and took out two of his men in the first turn. Ended up pitching a shut out. Loved it. Not like I have played multi-player much yet though; only 5-3 so far. I see some people on there with tons of games under their belt; they must have 10 games going at once all the time. |

I am going to bump this here too. Steam has the deal of the day! 2 copies for 12.49. I am anxious to give it a try.

Wow - I had not heard of this game. Between the above comments and that TotalBiscuit video, I'm sold. If my son is not interested in playing, I'll edit this post for the 2nd copy.
Edit: My son did take my 2nd copy. Last edited by tyketime : 07-05-2011 at 09:10 AM. |

Thanks, but I actually meant I would offer up my 2nd copy if my son didn't seem interested in the game. But he liked it, and he's already beaten me twice. I won the last one after the 8th turn time limit (I suppose because I had 2 guys left and he had only one, but not sure...).

So it looks like the player find is definitely case sensitive, and both players need to be online at the same time. Has that been your experience as well?

I purchased in the sale yesterday, have one spare key to give out. PM me with your steam user id if you want it. I'll also be up for some PBEM once I figure out the basics.
Key spoken for, no longer available.

Man do I truly, truly suck at this. Have not beat the first single-player mission yet. I'm so used to fog-of-war games and sneaking around undetected that it's taking a while for me to get used to the fact that the enemy knows exactly where I am and play it more like chess than a tactical combat game.

Yeah, I played the tutorial. I know HOW to do what I want to do, it's just that WHAT I want to do is so wrong for this game. I need to stop thinking "sneaky", and that's hard for me given the tactical combat trappings.

Some of the sneaky will come back when you start playing "dark" multi-player games. I find those to be a lot more fun.

I'm PilotMan, as if anyone had any doubts. I haven't tried any MP games yet, as I am still trying to get the hang of this set up. It took a few tries just to make it through the first series in the campaign.

I've just finished 3 straight campaign missions without losing a guy. I think I am getting lucky with where my guys are at, or else I just really understand the different guys so far, and the advantages and disadvantages of each.
