Now that I've seen it, I feel that way about Cooper. There wasn't much subtlety about that performance from her, but his performance felt very dead fish to me. A lot of it was how the character was written, but I felt he was just an awkward mess and that he didn't really show as much as being bandied about unless everyone acting around him was the performance and that we're crediting him for good everyone else was, as he was the head coach of the movie.

I wonder if the oscars will go the opposite the way the globes did awardswise.

I do think actor and supporting actress will be the same .

Director and screenplay definitely different.

I take that back. Not sure about actor. It'll be between Lewis and Jackman for sure.
Ha Affleck wasn't even nominated for director. He must not have seen the "No one formerly married to a skanky bitch can be nominated" rule.

It will probably be spielberg, altho I'm pulling for russell.

The writing categories will probably go to whoever wins film.
But i'd say Lincoln for the 1st and Zero Dark Thirty for the 2nd

I really need to see some of these.
GOt any recommendations to see or to not see?

I can tell you "Lincoln" and "Argo" were two good movies. DDL will probably take the Oscar. He was pretty amazing as Lincoln.

Very cool. Every year they show all of the Oscar nominated live action and animated short films in one night at a theater in town. Lady H_B and I try to make it every year.

To be honest, the live action short that won, "Curfew", wasn't my first choice for the award, but the little girl in it was really quite excellent.

Learned that my brother in law got a "Special Thanks" credit on Beasts of the Southern Wild after corresponding with the director on some medical content in the movie. Pretty cool to have that association with a Best Picture Oscar nomination.

To me the biggest difference was that Chastain carried her film from start to finish. I thought shed win but have no problem with Lawrence even though I don't think SLP was that good, just well acted.

Yeah, that's what I thought, too. The tweet was within the spirit of what the Onion does, but it went well over the line of where it was edgy humor. Usually the Onion dances that line pretty good.

I find it hard to argue that the tweet crossed the line when it comes to satire considering that, "it would have been fine had they just called the nine-year-old girl a bitch instead of a cunt" seems to be a fairly common response to this little controversy.

I think a big problem with that tweet is the the format itself. Having a story on the Onion where some ridiculous character writes an editorial calling her that wouldn't have been as bad, it would have had context, and context can make it satire. But just a random tweet doesn't hit that mark.

As an aside, Quvenzhane did get some good news this week, shes going to play Annie on screen. I think her energy and demeanor are perfect for that.
