Red-Hot León Cools off Tokyo
Thursday, August 18th, 2067: "He's got a bunch of different arm angles and his ball was really moving," said the Tokyo manager after watching Miguel León of the Halifax Winter Wolves humiliate his club 8-0 in a fine 2-hit shutout.

"If I make good pitches, I'm going to get some outs," León said after he befuddled the Cyclones. "I was making good pitches the entire game."

He whiffed 7 and walked 2 in the complete game effort.

This season León has worked 184.2 innings with 127 strikeouts en route to a 16-7 record and a 2.53 ERA.

Yes, It's a No-No by Ishida
Tuesday, August 23rd, 2067: It was a game that all pitchers dream about: a no-hitter.

It happened today at Ballpark of Napa Valley.

Shiki Ishida of the Napa Valley Winemakers was right on target against the Apex Assassins in his 3-0 victory. He really zeroed in on them, holding them hitless with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Ishida said he just had it all today, "Very good stuff and great location, a combination that's hard to beat."

So far this year Ishida has made 25 starts, tossed 141.1 innings, struck out 77 batters and walked 41. His record is 8-5 with a 3.50 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .229 batting average.

White Named Top RL Hurler
Thursday, September 1st, 2067: The Republic League scribes have announced August's Pitcher of the Month and have given the award to Palmer White of Colorado. He was one tough cookie on the mound last month with a fine 3-1 mark to prove it.

The Colorado star made 5 starts with a 2.60 ERA and surrendered 27 hits in 34.2 innings. He struck out 47 and walked 8.

Thus far this season White has posted a 17-4 record, started 25 games, struck out 200 batters in 180 innings and compiled a 2.65 ERA.

Tracy Top CL Pitcher in August
Thursday, September 1st, 2067: Ben Tracy took home the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors in August. After all these years playing ball, the 38-year-old veteran still enjoys the game as though he'd just broken camp for the first time a month ago. He's a bit older now with a few more aches and pains, but the old man has reason to celebrate, having gone 4-0 for Napa Valley last month and claiming the Pitcher of the Month award.

He tacked up a 1.75 ERA in his 6 starts, tossing 36 innings and striking out 23.

So far this year Tracy has 12 wins and 6 losses and a 3.25 ERA.

RL's Top Hitter Announced
Thursday, September 1st, 2067: Free agent-to-be Mark Long has inflated his asking price over the past 30 days by winning the Republic League Batter of the Month.

In August, the 30-year-old Ann Arbor center fielder hit .400 with 12 home runs and 29 RBIs.

If he keeps putting numbers like that up, he could be hauling in a big wad of cash at this time next year.

Long is swinging at a .303 pace on the year with 33 home runs, 90 RBIs and 116 runs scored. He has played in 121 games.

Vargas Wins CL's Best Bat Trophy

Thursday, September 1st, 2067: Fernando Vargas of the Boston Settlers spoke softly and carried a big stick in August and was justifiably proclaimed the Continental League Batter of the Month.

The Settlers first baseman rapped out a .389 batting average with 37 hits in 95 at-bats, drove in 29, scored 26 runs and chalked up a .500 on-base percentage.

Looking at his present stats, Vargas has compiled a .304 batting average in 124 games with a .416 on-base percentage, while hitting 28 home runs and driving in 88 runs.

Ann Arbor Rookie Biggest Vote-Getter in RL
Thursday, September 1st, 2067: Michael Ednams made a name for himself in the Republic League in August. The talented first baseman for Ann Arbor compiled a .419 batting average and was the top votegetter for the Rookie of the Month trophy.

He won it by going 26-62 in 23 games with 1 home run, 17 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

In 97 games this season Ednams has batted at a .296 pace with 91 hits and 6 home runs.

Hill Voted August's Rookie Award
Thursday, September 1st, 2067: Richard Hill earned August's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Apex left fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Hill hit .287 with 3 home runs, 17 RBIs and 14 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Hill is hitting .269 so far this season with 65 RBIs and 54 runs scored. He has 115 hits including 15 home runs, 67 walks and .365 OBP.

Serrano Socks 600th HR
Friday, September 30th, 2067: Tokyo's outstanding left fielder Carlos Serrano joined the 600 home run club today at Sony Park with a booming blast in the Cyclones win over the Settlers. They topped Boston 6-4.

On his milestone day Serrano had 1 hit in 4 at-bats with 1 RBI and 1 run scored.

Tongue-in-cheek he told the press, "Don't tell me when I get close to the next milestone. Just tell me after I reach it. It will be easier to hit that way."

His all-time numbers show Serrano has compiled a .336 batting average and collected 3095 hits, 600 home runs and 2054 RBIs.

Serrano is only the third player in FOOL history to hit 600 Home Runs! He is only 8 home runs behind the former Boston Hall of Fame great Daniel Gil for second place on the all time home run list!

António Flores Whips Winemakers for #200
Sunday, October 9th, 2067: António Flores of the Halifax Winter Wolves will go down as one of the league's legendary pitchers after his 8-3 win today against the Napa Valley Winemakers.

"It felt like it was a postseason game, one out at a time," said his manager. "It was something special to see."

The 33-year-old Flores picked up his 200th career victory at Ballpark of Napa Valley. He hurled 9 innings, gave up 7 hits and registered 3 strikeouts along with 1 walk.

"I've worked a long time for this," Flores said. "I can't believe it's really here. It feels great!"

During his career Flores has recorded 200 wins and 136 losses with a 3.67 ERA and limited other teams to a .254 average.

*sigh* can we please have the playoffs not start 2 days after the season finishes? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease? As it stands this is not representing my team at all since my top 3 starters are exhausted.

We used to do it 7 days after, but that changed after the majority wanted it to be moved up. The basic reasoning was that it is easy enough to be gamey with OOTP in the style we play by having very few starting pitchers and virtually no backups. That having the game auto-set the playoff schedule helps provide some benefit to teams with more depth as a reward.

If there is enough consensus to change it, we can take a vote on it. I personally like it this way though ever since we made the change. Either way, it wouldn't go in effect for tomorrow though obviously.

obviously. I do have a backup starter but am unconvinced he will ever be used properly under the AI. I do have lots of middle relievers which i always do. I have a 12 pitcher staff of incredible depth. But since my top 3 are exhausted I'm going into the playoffs like a car would get onto the highway without a motor or wheels. It wouldn't change our timeframe if we moved things out.

It's perfect the way it is.

Garts playoff teams.

Without Ortega, I think I have the worst pitching rotation in the history of online OOTP.

I highly doubt that. I think someone around here had a 1 man rotation some time ago.

I know my dumbass did a long long time ago. I took everyone out of the rotation after spring training, did my best starter, couldnt figure out who else I wanted to start, said id do it later, did my lineups, and ooppps forgot to do my pitching staff.

I don't think you were the only one. I recall ekcut and Edmonton winning 30 games one year with a similar situation. I'm sure others have done it too.

Also, as far as full rotations go, my group a few seasons back was dreadful. I think the lot of them had ERA's over 6.

I definitely went through a spell of mismanagement in the last 2 months. Not sure if my interest dipped because of things going on around here but being 4th and 10th on that list is unacceptable.
