well the dreams of an in-state battle in the second round of the regionals went up in flames when Connecticut stomped Clemson 14-1. They move on to play South Carolina now. Big boost to their program and the Big East conference. Now I don't feel so bad that Coastal lost to them so badly.

Arizona State beat Texas 3-1 last night, and Texas won 5-1 today. The game tomorrow will determine who gets the ticket to Omaha. Should be a great one!

North Carolina becomes the first time to claim a spot in Omaha, with consecutive wins over Stanford, 5-2 and 7-5.

Vanderbilt gets their first trip to Omaha, with two convincing wins over Oregon State, 11-1 and 9-3.

Florida and Mississippi State had a great back and forth Game 3, but a couple of late homers put the Gators up for good, and they get the Omaha nod with an 8-6 win.

Just had a really bizarre call in the Texas-Arizona State game. Batter Interference was called on a Ball 4 pitch. Don't think I've ever seen that called before.

Texas beats Arizona State 4-2 to advance to Omaha. There were a few strange calls in that one, including the aforementioned batter interference, as well as a balk that scored a run for the Horns.

And the final three spots have been filled. A&M shook off their beatdown from yesterday, doing a number themselves on Florida State today, 11-2. Cal swept Dallas Baptist to advance. And the #1 overall seed, Virginia, got a walk off 2 RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to get by UC-Irvine 3-2.

The games in Omaha start on Saturday!

UVA rallied with two outs and nobody on base to get the win.

And South Carolina gets the sweep of Florida to repeat as College Baseball champions, the 6th team to repeat. As Bug mentioned, they set two different consecutive wins records, 11 straight in the CWS at Omaha, and 16 straight in the overall tournament.
