A rare blowout. QB Joel Robbins got to play the entire 4th quarter and played well:

Comp: 9
Att: 14
Yards: 92
TD: 0
Int: 0

Car: 0
Yards: 0
TD: 0

Not bad for mop up duty. One more game to go....then uncertainty because you KNOW the Steelers are drafting a QB.

QB Joel Robbins got some more garbage time:

Comp: 2
Att: 5
Yards: 18
TD: 0
Int: 0

Car: 0
Yards: 0
TD: 0

On the season, Robbins had the following stats:

Comp: 30
Att: 50
Yards: 292
TD: 1
Int: 1

Car: 2
Yards: 1
TD: 0

Though his interception rate fell to an awesome 2%, his sack rate rose to 5.7%. That isn't going to cut it. I hope he puts in serious work over the summer or he is destined for journeyman back up QB land.

Well it seems like QB Joel Robbins just can't catch a break. The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted yet another QB with the 2nd pick of the draft, forcing Robbins into the 3rd string QB spot on the depth chart. Here is his player card. Not much improvement:

Barring injury, this should be a fairly quick season to report on.

As I figured, QB Joel Robbins never saw the field this season. Onto 1929 with a new team (I hope).

1929 Draft and Training Camp

The Pittsburgh Steelers organization has made it clear to QB Joel Robbins that he is no longer a part of their future. They have drafted yet another QB and as a result, the released Robbins, making him a free agent once again. And as before, he is not on the street very long because he is now a member of the.........

Cleveland Browns

This is the best of both worlds since he went to college in Ohio, is close to his home in Indiana and in looking at the depth chart:

He is now, unequivocally, the starting QB!! Yes, after 3 long years, Robbins now has his own team. Is he ready? Will he improve on his turnover ratio? We will see because, this might be his only chance.

Here is his player card after training camp:

Since QB Joel Robbins is now the starter, he only saw the field for 1 series this week:

Comp: 1
Att: 1
Yards: 15
TD: 0
Int: 0

Car: 0
Yards: 0
TD: 0

His playing time should increase gradually during the preseason.

Robbins only plays one series. The Browns coaching staff has to be very conservative with him as he has a Pinched Nerve in his neck and he is now Doubtful for the next game

Comp: 1
Att: 1
Yards: 5
TD: 0
Int: 0

Car: 0
Yards: 0
TD: 0

The third preseason game is usually the one where the starters play the most. Since Robbins is injured, I doubt we will see him.

Due to his injury, QB Joel Robbins was held out the rest of the preseason. We lost both games, so the Brown go into the season with very little momentum and a gimpy QB. Not a good sign going into the season.

Well in his first start in a couple of seasons, QB Joel Robbins was a mixed bag of both good and bad:

Comp: 18
Att: 33
Yards: 287
TD: 3
Int: 2

Car: 2
Yards: 18
TD: 0

Robbins interceptions were both returned for TDs. Self-inflicted wounds that the Cleveland Browns can ill afford. He must do better going forward. He isn't some rookie. Those pick sixes killed us.

This is some ugly stuff here. QB Joel Robbins was awful:

Comp: 17
Att: 28
Yards: 230
TD:
Int: 6 (With more 2 pick sixes!!!)

Car: 2
Yards: -1
TD: 0

Robbins broke his finger, so he got pulled for the backup QB (who threw a pick 6 as well). We may have a brewing QB controversy, once he comes back from injury. Robbins can't do this and expect to stay the starter.

QB Joel Robbins was out both games with a Broken Finger, so his backup started and struggled. The Cleveland Browns are now 1-3 heading into the bye week in Week 5, Hope Robbins was getting his mind right during his 3 week break, because his team needs him.

The Offensive Coordinator decided to put the reigns on QB Joel Robbins. Simplified the game plan and gave him easy plays to make:

Comp: 20
Att: 30
Yards: 133
TD: 0
Int: 0

Car: 2
Yards: 4
TD: 0

4 yards per pass attempt isn't going to win many games, but the hope is that they can introduce more complex game plans going forward.

The Browns played well enough to win. They actually had the ball on the Bengals 22 yard line with :30 left in the game, but could not get the touchdown. QB Joel Robbins is playing better:

Comp: 21
Att: 32
Yards: 300
TD: 1
Int: 1

Car: 3
Yards: 24
TD: 0

If Robbins can play like that (and bringing down the sacks as he was sacked 5 times last game), the Brown should see a few wins going forward.

No pick 6 interceptions and only 1 sack. This is the Robbins we hope we can see week to week.

The Ravens were leading our division at (6-1) and they come into our house and we smoke them. Great game. QB Joel Robbins was efficient with the ball and managed a good game:

Comp: 14
Att: 21
Yards: 164
TD: 2
Int: 0

Car: 2
Yards: 30
TD: 0

Can we get to .500? Thats the short term goal. Here are Robbins stats midway through the season:

Decent season so far if you take out that horrible 6 interception game. He is accurate and is a threat to run if need be. If he can lower his sack% and interception%, he could be a better than average QB the rest of the year.

Well it seems like the Browns have figured out their issues. This 3 game winning streak is very much needed and should propel them towards a wild card playoff spot if they keep it up. QB Joel Robbins had a decent day:

Comp: 17
Att: 31
Yards: 258
TD: 2
Int: 1

Car: 0
Yards: 0
TD: 0

Seems like even though Robbins won't be that generational talent as he looked like at Ohio University, he will be a QB you can win with.

Very weird game. The Browns were able to move the ball, but struggled converting 3rd downs or getting within scoring range. QB Joel Robbins was solid:

Comp: 25
Att: 37
Yards: 270
TD: 0
Int: 0

Car: 2
Yards: 7
TD: 0

Can't really blame Robbins for this loss. He was decent and was only sacked once.

The Patriots are a tough team to play on the road, so this result is to be expected. QB Joel Robins had a rough day:

Comp: 16
Att: 29
Yards: 156
TD: 0
Int: 1

Car: 1
Yards: 7
TD: 0

The Browns need to get back to winning. Robbins may be playing for his job as the Browns may draft a QB next season.

Just an atrocious game by QB Joel Robbins:

Comp: 18
Att: 29
Yards: 207
TD: 1
Int: 4

Car: 1
Yards: 0
TD: 0

This loss falls SQUARELY on the shoulders of Robbins. Here is a brief synopsis of his 4 interceptions:

INT 1 - Ball on the Steelers 49 yd line
INT 2 - Ball on the Steelers 31 yd line
INT 3 - Ball on the Steelers 18 yd line
INT 4 - Pick 6 (31 yd return)

That is why the Browns lost. And the coach is NOT happy.

More of the same ugliness from QB Joel Robbins:

Comp: 24
Att: 38
Yards: 301
TD: 2
Int: 4

Car: 2
Yards: -5
TD: 0

This guy sure loves to throw pick 6 interceptions, huh? He must lead the league in them. Not sure what his future holds, but if I am Cleveland, I am drafting the first quarterback I can in the draft.

On the flipside, it seems that Robbins broke his finger again during practice preparing for the next game. Will he play again this season?

QB Joel Robbins was out for weeks 15 and 16 with a Broken Finger, but he did play in the season finale:

And as is the theme for the 2nd half of the season, Robbins struggled:

Comp: 23
Att: 40
Yards: 242
TD: 1
Int: 3

Car: 3
Yards: 0
TD: 0

Here is Robbins stat line on the year:

Just an ugly year all the way around. Not sure what his future is. Most likely journeyman backup.

Well after the draft, QB Joel Robbins is still entrenched as the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns. His skills are starting to erode a bit as seen here in his ratings progressions:

The one key takeaway is his Accuracy has spiked a bit. Hopefully, this will lower his interception rate going forward. Here are his ratings:

Some good and some bad. Here are the numbers for QB Joel Robbins:

Comp: 21
Att: 34
Yards: 283
TD: 2
Int: 2

Car: 1
Yards: 13
TD: 0

In the last two drafts, the Cleveland Browns has chosen stud Wide Receivers high in the first round. If Robbins can get these guys the ball accurately, I suspect his stats will sky rocket and the Browns will do very well.

Due to the blowout, QB Joel Robbins was pulled early in the 4th quarter, but he did pretty well before taking the day off:

Comp: 15
Att: 23

Car: 2

Got his first rushing TD of his career, so that was good. Still don't like the interceptions though.

The Borwns have a nice 3 game win streak right now and Robbins is doing his part to manage the game effectively:

Comp: 18
Att: 28
Yards: 177

Int: 0

I hope he keeps this up. Looks like the Browns are headed for a nice season if he does.

In his first game against the team that drafted him, despite being sacked 5 times and under pressure all game, QB Joel Robbins did just enough to keep his team undefeated. Robbins was up and down:

Another pick 6! And they come at the WORSE times too. I have now figured out which current NFL QB we can compare QB Joel Robbins too. He is Jay Cutler. Flashes of brilliance coupled with foolish, back-breaking turnovers. And as a Bears fan, I know this type of QB play all too well. Robbins struggled:

Comp: 14
Att: 24
Yards: 126
TD: 1
Int: 2

Car: 3
Yards: 3
TD: 0

The Browns have dropped two in a row. We need to stop the bleeding now.

Ugh. This game was very winnable. QB Joel 'Pick 6' Robbins is regressing. It's almost like the opponents have figured him out:

Comp: 25
Att: 39
Yards: 270
TD: 2
Int: 3

Car: 0
Yards: 0

A few games ago, the Browns were 7-1 and sitting pretty in the AFC North. With three losses in a row, the Pittsburgh Steelers have now caught the Browns and we are now tied with them.

Gotta end this slide.

And here I was talking about Playoffs. PLAYOFFS?!? (Shout out to Jim Mora). We have yet to win a game in the 2nd half of the season. Anyway, this was an ugly loss. QB Joel Robbins was pretty average:

Comp: 19
Att: 38
Yards: 234
TD: 1
Int: 1

Car: 1
Yards: 0
TD: 0

We are now out of the lead in the AFC North and will be fighting for a wild card spot. Here is the playoff race standings:

Making up those two games is going to be tough. Here is our remaining schedule:

That Week 17 game against the Ravens is going to be a monster. We will both be fighting for a playoff spot, most likely. The other games aren't too tough, but gosh we need to play better.

With the Pittsburgh Steelers losing their game, the Cleveland Browns win the division ans will play the (11-5) New York Jets in the playoffs!

QB Joel Robbins was horrible against the Ravens:

Comp: 18
Att: 32
Yards: 191
TD: 0
Int: 3

Car: 1
Yards: 5
TD: 0

He can't get away with that against the Jets. Here is how these two teams matchup:

Their starting QB will not be playing, which is great for us. They have the 3rd ranked rushing offense in the league, so we have to focus on this. If Robbins can avoid the turnovers, we should win especially since we are playing at home. Wish us luck.

The Browns started strong, fell behind and then a 76 yard bomb late in the 4th quarter decides the game. QB Joel Robbins was up and down on the day:

Comp: 20
Att: 33
Yards: 283
TD: 3
Int: 2

Car: 0
Yards: 0
TD: 0

So in the Divisional round of the playoffs, the Browns travel to California to take on the (11-5) San Diego Chargers. Here is the matchup:

The Chargers are pretty middle of the road both offensively and defensively. It is going to take a perfect game to beat them in their house though.

All in all, this season counts as a successful one for the Cleaveland Browns as well as for QB Joel Robbins. Here is how he ended the season:

Man, football is a tough business. After the draft and training camp, QB Joel Robbins was still the starting QB. He even started the first preseason game. However, the Cleveland Browns decided they wanted the rookie QB the drafted last year to start, so they released Robbins. After leading his team to the playoffs and actually winning a playoff game, Robbins was cut. Sigh.

No worries though, right? He will immediately be picked up. So he went home and waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. Week 9 rolls around and he gets a call. After a brief conversation, he agrees to sign with his 4th team:

Atlanta Falcons!

The Falcon's starting QB season ended after breaking his kneecap during a week 7 game, so Robbins was signed as the 3rd string QB. And of course, he did not play.

Looks like his journeyman status begins.
