Things look familiar in the RL. The CL is interesting.

New York is a surprise. The CL is always a surprise, because you never know who'll break ahead of the pack over there. As for the RL, I'm surprised that St. Louis is able to hold on, despite the teams that have reloaded in that league.

Ouch. I dropped down to 5th and finished behind both of the other Texas teams. I am not happy about that. I can't wait to see what happened, I expected more from my team this year, not less. So did my owner, he won't be happy.

Wow, New York pulled away down the stretch!! That was neat to see DC.

Congrats to NY and St Louis (again )

Looks like Hartford crapped the bed, I really thought I was going to be able to compete this year. Really want to see what the heck happened there.

I thought it was your year for sure. Just from the moves you made. But you gotta love that your Triple-A and Double-A teams won titles, that bodes well for the future.

I think I still need some more pitching, I dont have all those ace's lined up in the farm system like you had, but your right the farm system is decent, although I think I have a few older guys in AAA which discounts it a bit I think.

I am happy that my team improved this year, but I need to deflate St.Louis' tires I think soon. Lets see if I can make more moves this offseason to close the gap.

I think that my moves to shore up our offense REALLY served me well this year. That said, the fact that Tanaka had more RBI than Spindola for New York, means we're going to have our hands FULL with that ballclub in the Classic. Just like last year, the CL team comes in with a better hitting squad and comparable pitching, though our team ERA is about a half-run lower. It'll be intriguing to see again, how things spin together. I can't WAIT.

I think your almost there, few moves in the INF, and I dont see why you wouldnt have a shot to improve even more.

Why are almost all my emails for the whole year about contract negotiations and contracts signed? From April through September that is what most of the emails are about.

I guess my pitching and hitting has more holes in it then I thought. Crappy season. My top 3 starting pitchers and top two relievers looked good, the rest crap.

My top 3-4 hitters looked either better then last year, or as good. Not good enough though.

The good news is I see some help coming from the minors soon.

So lack of decent infielders except at the corners apparently killed me. I mean seriously, add some really strong bats, shore up the pitching staff a bit more, and I do WORSE than last year. Now I remember why I gave up on OOTP before: I have no clue what the heck I'm doing.

Ah, I see the other thing I always loved. Steve Williams at age 25 decides to become a 2.5 star player and hit .229 right after signing his 4 year / $48 million contract. Sigh. At least Noah Wakeling broke out nicely...

Something really weird happened there with the message settings. Not only that but I got some emails from 1963, and stuff from the HS league, and apparently contract negotiations from every team in the league.

Weird.

Dola...

I'm thinking some, if not all, of these contract negotiation emails are from previous seasons, from when they originally signed.

Why they'd show up for everyone now is a bit of a mystery.

When I deleted the old leagues, it apparently defaulted back to the way it was setup originally, so it changed my settings from 0 days = All of the emails and stuff to the default 7 days. Means you all are missing a lot of emails and stuff, hence while last night's file was so small I guess.

I just looked and saw that. I'm going to upload a replacement file right now. Everyone should download it once I indicate that it's done.

Didn't really change anything for me, DC. Same emails as last time, still some from 1963, many from the HS and College early season. Nothing for the big leagues until September. I'm not really worried about it, though. I figure it's just an issue because of the feeder leagues and whatnot. It's entirely possible that we have issues from the conversion/past versions that won't be easily solved.

According to the emails, I just became manage in May of '65.

edit: With the newest files. That is a 'new' email compared to last nights files. I can let the email slide though, my team performance I can't let go of so easily.

St. George's owner has bowed out of the league, citing a lack of interest in OOTP.

Here's what I'm thinking will happen at the end of this season.
Quote:
- St. Louis will move. Because we don't want the Terriers history wrapped up into some other franchise, the team as it is now will simply be retired. St. George will be folded and two expansion teams created instead.
- Both will inherit the farm systems of the departed franchises, mostly for simplicity purposes.
- Each existing team will be able to protect 25 players in the expansion draft and will set their preference list before the start of the expansion draft, which will take place in the sim right after free agency starts.
- One team from the CL will move to the RL, to ensure that two expansion teams aren't sharing the same space next year. Which team that will be...is up for debate.

Conversely, the St. Louis juggernaut isn't good for the league. It's not even fun anymore. I mean, I love my team and my players and all of that..and what we've been able to do is special. I love each one of those RL pennants like their kids and you can choose between them. But...I'd prefer a much more competitive league and this will give us an opportunity to achieve that.

Each of the players on the rosters of the existing teams will become free agents after the completion of the season, meaning bonzana times are upon us.

See, isn't that good news?

Wow, I didn't think my comment about sending all of St. Louis' players to everyone around the league would be taken seriously.

I wonder if I will have the money for any of this, or if the cap is now going up?

The only reason I didn't have a huge problem with the St. Louis juggernaut was because this was a fast league, another season is a week away. Eventually things would have started to even out. Still, I am cool with it.

Yeah, I personally don't mind the St.Louis juggernaut either.. It provided a challenge for me to try to catch up to. I also felt that with a bit longer of time I would be able to catch them (or be more competitive with them)..

I don't know if your mind is made up on it, but I don't have any problems with keeping St.Louis in tact myself. Think of how rewarding it will be when one of our teams does catch them?

I think DC just wants to keep the history of the franchise all to himself, and not have it bastardized by the team moving to another city.

Which I understand and have no problem with. I am already imagining a story in my mind of the greatest team in league history having to fold because of financial problems.

I don't know if your mind is made up on it, but I don't have any problems with keeping St.Louis in tact myself. Think of how rewarding it will be when one of our teams does catch them?

The only real hesitation I have is that I really am going to enjoy looking back on the history of the team in 20 years and for us, that's the end of the summer, you know?

Besides that, I thought it'd be a neat twist and it'd be lore for those of us who hang out for a while, because we'll be able to talk about those teams in the same way that people talk about old teams that we'll "never see again" or whatever, especially to have the talent gracing other cities and stuff.

I dunno...it'll keep things interesting and I'm generally all for that.

Which I understand and have no problem with. I am already imagining a story in my mind of the greatest team in league history having to fold because of financial problems.

Heck yeah. It'll be a great story.

I'm already writing the first book. It's called "Give 'Em Hell: The Story of the St. Louis Terriers 1961-1965"

Back to the season of '65 for a moment. Anyone else notice that a pretty good 2B Raymond Carpenter sat out the whole season. He was never signed I guess. Dang is he tempting, but I don't have the cash to spare right this moment with things up in the air for me a little bit.
