As much as it pains me, since there's a run on D-men... (gotta say with this format, it really increases the value of defensemen. a PP goal from Subban would be a 3 category score!)
Zdeno Chara D BOS

I was hoping Chara and Rask would fall to me, but can't complain too much about Craig and Buff.

New strategy--grab two top goaltenders to dominate those categories, at the risk of the skaters I will carry.

Rask was an easy choice, but it came down to Quick versus Crawford for the second spot. I am hoping I made the right choice. I believe Quick is actually the better goaltender, but Crawford is going to get more wins. It came down to going with the guy who has no real backup (so Quick plays a ton).

You underestimate Antti Raanta.

(he says then realizes you didn't pick Crawford, haha)

Haha yeah. I don't know much about Raanta, but I don't even know the Kings' backup G off of the top of my head, now that Bernier has taken his boxing gloves to Toronto. Even when Bernier was here in LA, Quick was a bit of an ironman.

I just sent a couple names to SR so that you guys can move forward once sposfan picks, as I likely won't be around much more today.

Not sure. It might not be the worst idea to schedule an online draft through ESPN just before the season starts as a fallback option. I think if SR as League Manager sets it up as a keeper league (I'm assuming this is an option in hockey, it is in football), he can input the rosters to where we are in the thread at that point and then proceed from there. Anyone who cant make whatever time it's scheduled for can pre-rank or just let the CPU go.

Again, just as a last minute option.

This seems like a legit idea. I was hoping a week would have been enough, but not sure at this point.

My son has practice tonight from 6:00 - 7:30, so I'll try and check it out later on.

Yeah I was considering that idea too - as long as ESPN has the functionality for an unlimited number of keepers I think it would work.

Yeah and if all that works, you can even start filling in the rosters now to reduce the burden at the end.

I just went in and created a new league to test it out. I did all this before I officially clicked "create league" but you should be able to go into LM tools -> edit league settings and do the same. I went to the Transactions and Keepers tab and set the total number of keepers to however many the full roster is. Then you go back to LM Tools and hit Edit Keeper Selections and you can populate the rosters.

So yeah, it should work. If for some reason you can't alter all this once the league has been created, it would be well worth it to start a new one from scratch and have everyone re-join.

One other small side benefit, if SR does update the draft list on ESPN every round or whatever, is as we get deeper into the draft we would be able to go onto the league site and see a semi up-to-date list of available players. I imagine with all this being done in this thread, there's a good chance we'll have some people (coughmecough) try to select guys that have already been taken, but they forgot to cross them off whatever list they're working off of.

I formally request that if we do a draft it be on Sunday instead of Monday (unless it's late Monday night) - should be easier to get people together on a sunday night?

Just leaving practice now. I'm going to check out ESPN once I'm home.

One day/time works best for everyone if we move to live draft?

Looking like this will work. Will just take me a little while to add to everyone's rosters. Can only choose one player from dropdown at a time, add, rinse and repeat.

I completed rosters through my last pick.

Also tentatively scheduled draft for 9pm Sunday, but that's not set in stone.

DOH! was trying to fill in the picks on a sheet , since it's kind of confusing with the master list not done and I must have skipped one! No biggie, I was debating between 2 players, so if he wants Neal, I have another pick ready to go!
