Flat out horrible decision making. Mariota is about an inch from throwing an illegal forward pass. Then who the eff knows why he throws that into a pack of about 6 chiefs. You wanna go super high on that toss so only your guy can get it in the back of the end zone. Then he somehow gets mad lucky and catches it and has the nerve to go for the pylon outstretched. Does he even watch football? That's like dodging the death penalty 3 times

Are there any meaningful numbers on teams win/loss when they rest players? I don’t mean sit them down late in the game, I mean the coach telling the team that their best players won’t be playing at all and the rest just sparely type of resting. It just seems like every year we come back around to watching some of the same type of things where teams shut down and then can’t seem to get it all the way turned back on again.

I'd like to see the numbers, too.

In 2009, the Saints lost week 15 and 16, but locked up the #1 seed anyway, so they rested starters and lost in week 17. There was a lot of talk of them going into the playoffs flat. But they won the Super Bowl. So I think that there's success stories and failures either way. I have no idea what the actual numbers would show.

I've loved listening to Romo this season. Really great performance. But man I'm a little worried how he's gonna do today, it being the playoffs and all.

How did Jacksonville make the playoffs with Blake Bortles as their QB? This game is hard to watch unless you are a fan of poor offense and very good defense.

This is why the NFL is bleeding viewers. Who wants to watch this crap? And these are playoff teams?

Kind of makes you wonder how good the AFC really is after seeing the two teams in the 1st half and watching Tennessee sleep walk in the 1st half and beat the Chiefs in their home stadium.

Bills fans have to be ready to shoot themselves in the head. They're thinking "we waited all those years for this?"

I think the refs just wanted the game to end with that replay.

ETA: I didn't think that was an interception.

The NFL couldnt get that one off the air soon enough. They have lost enough fans this year already.

That ball moved more than James in the Pit/NE game.

Bortles has been really up and down all year, but more ups than downs. He had a five game stretch or so in the second half where he looked really good.

Yeah, really...

Why didnt Funchess seem to go after that? As receiver his size needs to make that catch. Cam played a great game(in terms of battling it until the end), as his outside wide receivers are awful. Saints are going to be tough to beat.

Wasn't it inside 2:00? I'm surprised they didn't replay it from upstairs. Would have been another 15-20 yards of field position.

Entertaining game (e.g. boring Bills Jags) and was rooting for Carolina. They had a chance to win it at the end.

I rather have the Falcons meet Caroline than Saints. Philly is next up.

Falcons' season ends next week so today's game didn't mean anything to them.

Pretty big downgrade from Wentz to Foles though. Should be a close one.

Eh, we shall see.

FWIW ...

Despite being the No. 1 seed in the NFC, the Philadelphia Eagles did not open as home favorites against their opponent in the Divisional Round of the 2018 NFL Playoffs. The Eagles instead opened as 2.5 point underdogs to the No. 6 seed Atlanta Falcons.

To put this in perspective, the average home team in a given matchup usually opens as three point home favorites. The Eagles are 5.5 points below that norm.

Then again, the Eagles certainly aren’t the average home team in this case. Philadelphia will be starting backup quarterback Nick Foles against the Falcons.

Foles really struggled in his final two starts of the 2017 season. In his last 49 attempts, Foles had a 46.9% completion rate, a 48.2 passer rating, and 4.1 yards per attempt.

But all hope is not lost for the Eagles. Philadelphia’s defense has played really well at home since the beginning of 2016. One of Jim Schwartz’s best games actually came against the Falcons last season.

Some other factors working against the Falcons could include travel and the weather. Atlanta has to fly home from Los Angeles after beating the Rams only to fly up north to Philly in time for Saturday’s game. The Falcons, whose home field resides in a dome, will also have to play outside in weather that projects to be 40 degrees and rainy.

It’s up to the Eagles to embrace the “us against the world” underdog mentality as most people will be picking against them. It’s true that the team isn’t as good without Carson Wentz at quarterback. But that doesn’t mean they’ll go down without a fight.

I wonder how many millions Sam Bradford knee will end up costing him? He came into the season as the starting QB and looked as good as he ever has in the first game of the season against the Saints. At some point during the next week his knee started giving him issues(which was very confusing at the time because he was hardly touched against the Saints) and he was out for about the next month. He came back for a half against Detroit and looked just awful, as far as limited mobility, and was benched for the 2nd half. In a few more weeks he was put on IR for the remained of the season. He is a free agent in 2018(as are Bridgewater and Keenum) and I cant see a team spending on a player with as severe knee issues as Bradford must have.

Which brings up another question. Are the Vikings really going to throw top QB money at Keenum based on 1 year?

Do they really have a choice, especially if they get to the Super Bowl? Can't afford to let a good quarterback go without a proven replacement. I suspect he'll get something like 3 years, 18 per.

The Dolphins paid Jay Cutler 10M, the Bears gave Glennon 15M annually, heck Matt Cassel is on the books for 2.75M. There is no way that Keenum and Bradford go unsigned.

I wondered this as well, but the broadcast said something about his visor being knocked into his eye, so perhaps it was just a vision thing and not a concussion thing. I wasn't paying all that much attention, to be honest.

I never suggested either of them go "unsigned." I was wondering if the Vikings were going to throw 20+m/per at Keenum and how much less Bradford is going to sign for with his knee issues. Bradford was likely going to get 20+ million per before his knee problems.

Does anyone think the AFC is good? There were multiple NFC teams that missed the playoffs that were better than the 4-6 seeds in the AFC.

Even a lot of Pats fans will tell you their team had a pretty cake schedule.

Yeah the good old eye injury that causes him to be wobbly and out of it and to collapse on the field. They did create a good cover to get him back into the game.

Bradford-people love to PAY this guy so I bet he still gets 2/35.

Keenum gets at least 3/48 with probably 20 in guarantees. I mean his next team will be able to easily dump him in a year but good for him. I don't think he's particularly good.

Surprised that the Vikes opened at only 3.5 over the Saints.

I want the Saints to win, and I think that they have a shot, but the Vikes are, IMO, the best team in the league right now.

I would have guessed 6 or 7 points.

I also couldn't believe he didn't challenge that 4th down reception just before the 2 minute warning. I don't think it would have been overturned, but you don't need 3 timeouts or any extra challenges when it's about to go under 2 minutes.
