The movie itself, 5/10. Salma's nudity, 25/10. I don't care if she DID have a unibrow in it...

DVD - Sideways 8/10 (although it might get bonus points because I was unable to watch it without drinking large amounts of wine)
Theater? Can't remember - it's been a while.

Richard III - Comcast On Demand
9/10 - Based on the Shakespeare play and set in a 1940-ish time period, this is a lavish and intense movie that shows Ian Mckellan at his very best. Fantastic art direction. |

American Movie is a 10. No question about it. One of the funniest movies ever made.
I get the urge to watch it all the time, but I let somebody borrow the DVD a few years ago and never got it back. It's like $25 for a new copy, which is a steep price to rebuy at, so I've been American Movie-less for too long. Quote:

Easily one of the funniest movies I've seen in years. I feel stupid for having waited so long to actually see it.

It: 7.5/10
It was originally a TV movie, and the adult actors aren't nearly as good as the child actors, but hey, Tim Curry makes a freaky ass clown. Also, bonus points for being a Stephen King adaption that isn't completely terrible, though I haven't read the book.

6 out of 10 as a movie 10 out of 10 for gore factor and innovation.

The Great Raid
I was dragged out to this movie without knowing anything of it. Sometimes not seeing a trailer, or knowing the plot or cast can be a good thing. I entered the movie with no expectations and they were met with a boring, dull snoozefest. Felt like a documentary on the history channel without commercials. Highly not suggested. 2.5 / 10

Last Movie at home: Spanglish - Overall 5/10, first 90 minutes 7/10 last 30 minutes 1/10
Last Theater Movie: Batman Begins - Overall 9/10, would have gotten a 10/10 if they got rid of that lame ass unrealistic car.

Ebert is the most worthless "reviewer" ever. He lets his politics cloud every single movie he sees and then reports on. Not only that, but he's a hypocrite. He dogs certain movies for being commercial and shallow, yet he is both of those things himself. The fact that people like him alledgedly get paid to give "thumbs up" on certain movies makes every single thing else that he comments on worthless.
I guess you could say that I dislike him intensely, and critics as a whole maybe a little less intensely.

Every single movie? Really? Can you name five? Quote:
Um, Ebert is probably one of the friendliest of any respected film critic to major Hollywood films. Quote:
Wait, the fact that people "like him" (not him) "alledgedly" (apparently you have no evidence) get paid for a "thumb ups" (which has nothing to do with his pieces for the Sun Times) makes everything he says worthless? That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for sharing your extremely rational opinions.

If you guys don't mind reading sub-titles, you should check out a movie called City of God. It's very good. I give it a 8.5/10 also. |

Big Fish. One of the most mixed reviewed movies I've ever heard about. Finally watched it.
Solid 6.5/10. Nice touching story, but nothing overwhelming. Helena Bonham Carter and Alison Lohman are winners. Last edited by korme : 08-18-2005 at 05:02 AM. |

Just saw it and suprisingly really liked it. 9/10. I say suprisingly, because I normally hate Tim Burton's directing. Also saw Sin City and I'd give it a 7/10 having never read the comics. A couple of the story lines were good, but I thought the Del Toro one about the peace between the cops and old town dragged. Next up: Kung Fu Hustle and Oldboy. |
