Do we want to have PB open up chest #2 and eat the potential trap? Is it worth having me open a random one as well?

Actually, I think it's best if just PB opens one rather than both of us. If something unfortunate happened to me, I'm sure our team would fall to pieces. With PB, meh...

You fools are as bad as EF and Jackal. Damn women on my team.
Hoops is as charmed by magic as a girl is by a sparkly diamond. And J23 is a diva. I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, I'll take all five if I have to. That being said, I'll let you girls have your fun, I can take chest 2 to see what happens and, I've got to be honest, I am curious about 4 as well. Give me definitive answer here and I'll PM Kwhit. |

The only hesitation I have about opening all of the chests is the time factor. If only the first team to reach the end wins, then I have no intention of not being that team. I think it's definately worth opening #2 and #5 since there is magic inside. I would say we skip the others and just move on after that.
However, if we really think opening chest #4 is the right choice, then I think you(PB) should take #4 and I'll take #2 to speed things up. I'm less enthused about opening a chest that we were warned against, though I suppose he could just be a fan of one of those other panzy teams. |

Yes, let PB take out the traps on #2 and #5 and then I'll unlock #1 and #5 .... buwahahaha! And J23 learns the secret of #4.
OK, scrap that plan while I pretend that you are both assets to our team. PB, if you want to open #2 and risk eating a trap then you can/should go ahead and use the healing potion to recover the health. Hopefully whatever is inside that chest is worth more than the 25 we paid for the potion. J23, if you feel lucky open a chest. If not, go run ahead to the door and we'll meet you there with our loot. |

I'll send a PM now to take out #2. Not because you said so, but because I want to! Yeah, some concern of a trap, but we'll handle it I hope. Is there any way in which detecting magic on something could turn out good?
If we are going to open 3 chests, then I recommend 2, 5, and while I still like 4 despite the warning, if not 4, then it has to be 3 (cause J23 can't do #1). I like only doing three though, makes sense. My PM for #2 is sent but I will change to 4 if you ladies have trouble making up your mind and decide otherwise. |

If you're getting #2, then I'll open #3. If you want to switch yours to #4, then I'll open #2.
I'm curious if our lack of fame would cause us to get mislead away from chest #4. Though I'm not nearly curious enough to open it myself. |

When you send in your PM orders, remember to specify whether or not you will check for traps prior to opening. And I will only do #2. Maybe, for the first game ever, I won't get screwed by some sort of magic.
But if/when I do get screwed by magic, I will piss on the chest, that magic and the fans. Screw them! That's right fans, I say screw you! |

With hoops checking his chest and unlocking, I would hope that if we both check our chest for traps as well that we wouldn't be incurring extra time.

Hopefully assumed, but I'll add it for good measure and PM it to KWhit. I won't be around from 6ish EST onward tonight, so if something changes one of you guys will have to send in an update.

You ignore the first chest. As you pass it by, you hear the DJ snicker.
PB tries his hand at chest 2. It's a good thing he checked for traps. He disarms an acid trap in short order and inside finds 1 healing potion. You may also take the vial of acid from the trap. J23 also finds a trap in chest 3. This one is a poison trap. Unfortunately, the chest is empty, except for the flask of poison. You take it. You skip chest 4 and hoops moves on to chest 5. He checks for traps (there were none) and had a devil of a time unlocking it. But once you do you find: It's infested with rats! They bite and claw you, doing some damage, but you easily dispatch them. Inside, you see what the rats were after. A block of cheese. Cheese!? All that for some cheese? But then you notice what the cheese is wrapped in. A scroll! The mage quickly takes a look at it and determines that it is a Scroll of Constitution. Reading it will give 1 character a CON bonus (let me know who uses it - right now the scroll is in possession of the character who opened this chest - Hoops). You press onward into the next room after 6 turns. |

Damn. Good news is that we were smart enough to check for traps, bad news is that we failed to find anything of huge consequence. I'm curious how chest 2 had magic but nothing magical involved. Oh well. The health potion replaces the one I had to use.

Two magic items (potion + scroll) seems like a nice bit of business for us. Hopefully I was not injured seriously and gained valuable experience disarming the most well crafted lock in all of the land.
I think it makes sense to use the scroll now if this is a perm health increase, since that would factor into HP for each level. I'll consider sharing it with the meatshield if there is reason to believe that this favor will be returned at a later point in time. Any treachery on this will earn you a shallow grave ... the mage and I have enough wits about us to forge ahead if you outlive your usefullness. |

Room 4:
This room is small and dimly lit. In the middle of the room are two small marble fountains, bubbling liquid. One fountain is carved with arcane runes and symbols that you cannot make out. A green liquid bubbles from it. The other fountain is carved with the symbols for the Sun and Moon. A pale red liquid flows within it. No exits are visible. What do you do? Let me know my noon tomorrow. |

As you know, my ally, I am always distrustful of you as you are of me. However, as has been proven many times, I can put that aside for the sake of destroying others.
Good observation, my friend, regarding the potion, perhaps it is of the magical persuasion. You and the magician will never have to fear finding yourselves at the end of my sword, unless this dungeon runs out of villains. I will fight alongside and in front of you, not necessarily for your protection but because I love and adore violence. If you deem me worthy of the scroll, I will return that favor, be it by sword or by trophy. |

I believe that will have to rely on the supernatural again, if J23 will check for magic. Otherwise, I'm thinking two things: 1- Bottle one of the liquids in our flask 2- One of us needs to sample that same liquid This is very much Matrix-esque, red pill/blue pill. |

So we have a empty flask, a flask of poison, a rope, a healing potion, and a vial of acid. Am I missing anything?
I agree about filling up the empty flask with one of the liquids. Here is the order I would suggest. 1.) Detect magic 2.) Fill the empty flask with something 3.) Taste one of the two liquids - either the one we take in the flask (knowing we can use it again later) or the other one (surprise!) Any other thoughts? Also, I'm surprised that we are behind the other groups by this kind of margin. Maybe they didn't check for traps but just took the damage? If so, they will be wounded and not have as many items as we do. Maybe they just left everything behind? I suspect that will not serve them well either in the long term. |

Will one of the lords of the realm clarify if the use of the scroll of constitution is a permanent boost to CON that will apply for health on all future levels? Thanks.

I would say that obtaining that scroll was worth our while. Excellent.
My base instinct says to take the scroll for myself, but inability to effectively coordinate with cohorts has doomed more than one evil alliance in the past. So, with some reluctance, I'll pass the scroll to PurdueBrad to use if he is able to actually read (implies both literacy - a big if - and the ability to read this particular scroll). |

I am, and this is hard to express, grateful for your gesture Hoops. Ideally those hit points will never be expended but you have earned some level of respect and loyalty from me.
Also, I'm noticing that J23 is accumulating exp with every spell he casts so it may be worth our while to continue to use him whenever possible to use his identify magic or heal spells. |

That tells me there is another mage, most likely, that has had to cast spells OR another team were actually in a fight today rather than with the chests. So it looks like three actions in this room, which should be faster than we've been moving. Of course, that assumes we can find the door. Is there any value in having two of us try the liquid, one green and one red? I do personally believe that we're best off trying one and then with that info we can assume about the other, but just want to be sure. |

You may choose one additional spell from the following list: Heal, Magic Missile, Detect Magic, Light, Read Magic, Mage Armor, Fear, Sleep You may choose a spell you already possess which will allow you to cast it 2x per room/combat instead of once. |

I am brute force and therefore have little use for something like acid. I have passed it off to Hoopsguy who, with his sneakiness, may be able to get close enough to adequately use it. Furthermore, with his skill with traps, if we need him to set one, perhaps the acid would aid him in such a task.

I'm tempted to leave a trap in the next room where it would be conceivable to do so in order to spite the other teams. That would be just great to read at some later point
Something like this ... "Deutchbag has triggered the trap laid by KK. DB#2 passes out, due to an inability to cope with the pain of acid squirted all across his face, neck, chest, and genitals." |

So are there wolves in this game or is this like dungeon? So far, from the distance and outside looking in, I'm sad I screwed myself and can't play in this.
Truth is, though, I probably wouldn't have time to do anything.

It seems like dungeon in that we are competing against the dungeon and not werewolves. But I didn't play in that game, so I'm not the best person to answer that question. I know KWhit really liked Abe's game and was modeling some aspects of this one off of it.
