Harrison Reaches 300 Mark
Tuesday, September 17th, 2058: Oshawa second baseman John Harrison pounded a home run during the Mullets 5-4 loss to Plantana yesterday. Despite the defeat the long ball was a significant achievement and raised his career home run total to 300.

"Some hitters never live up to the hype," said his manager. "John has definitely lived up to his. He's hammered the heck out of the ball year after year."

The Oshawa star went 2 hits for 4 at-bats during the game, scoring 1 run and had 1 run batted in.

Career-to-date Harrison has rung up a .300 average, played in 2374 games and collected 526 doubles, 95 triples and 300 home runs.

The Naps left fielder went 1 for 3 with 1 home run and 2 runs batted in as the Cleveland Naps won 10-0 over the Portland Axemen.

Lifetime García is hitting .279 with 421 doubles, 65 triples, 300 home runs, 1196 RBIs and 982 runs scored. He has appeared in 1572 games to date and delivered 1773 hits.

Palmeiro ends the season on a semi-hot streak (for him), hitting .273 in the final month with 6 Home Runs and 13 RBIs.

For the season, Palmeiro actually hit better than last year, hitting .225 but only 21 Home Runs during the season causes him to wind up a little short.

Palmeiro finishes the season with 696 career Home runs, third on the all time list and 6 behind the all time champ Kien-lung Teng

He is signed for one more year....but whether he retires or not is up to him. I'm not sure if I'd give him a roster spot though...I'll have to see if his ratings took a hit.

Chong 16-8 3.27 ERA isn't effort? I'll take that effort all day from my ace. Once the other SP arrive and the other bats come we will be ok real soon.

It's not the effort it's the computations behind the SQL that spit that out. Making 25 million for this year he didn't perform to the SQL's computation.

I see, I guess. He starts to shrink contract wise from here so we are all good. His contract was more to have him in 2 more years then it is now.

Wow, 99 wins and a playoff spot! I'm glad to finally have broken through again, and I'm interested to take a look at the file and see what went right for us. From reading through the thread it looks like Whalen had a bit of a flukey season, but I'll take it.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how much of a chance we have against New York. The fact that they played so far under their pythagorean record and still made the playoffs shows you how much talent they have. But the playoffs are always a bit of a crap shoot so who knows!

Basically its a combination of two things:

1) He pitched much better last year, (like twice as well). He got almost as many wins this season, but every important pitching stat went in decline. He still was all star calibre, but he was arguably not a top 10 pitcher this season whereas he was arguably the best pitcher in the league last year.

2) He is being paid a boat load of money this season.

So basically he took a big pay check and his performance cut in half. and thus wins the award!

Even if he doesn't retire, I don't see him catching that RBI record.

My bet, in normal OOTP greatness, Palmeiro will decide to retire even though he is only one month's worth of home runs away from immortality.

Actually, Teach, you get a draft pick every season, no matter where you finish. In fact, you get five!

No ratings decline though.

I actually think I have a roster spot for him. Platooning vs lefties...should get him 200ABs...hopefully enough for the 7 dingers...assuming he doesnt retire.

Only $1.2mil too, so he may actually make the team on merrit rather then charity like this year.

Actually that's not true...sometimes you lose your draft picks depending on who you sign.

Well, but you get the draft picks.

It's not my fault if you choose to sign someone and though go to someone else.

So when they go to someone else...you don't get them.

But you did get them! You just gave them up after getting them.

Sweet...so is this, like, open to everyone?
Do we have to take a number or just let 'er fly when something comes to mind?

I'm pretty equal opportunity. I would say it's fair game.

Does anyone know what the "ZR" stat is on the team fielding reports?

It is the team's Zone rating. Basically it measures how well your team gets to balls that are in play.

I personally find ZR can be quite informative for an individual player, but when you take it at a team level, I am not sure I find the value in it. For instance, if your ZR for your SS, 2B, CF are all +10 or higher and your ZR for your catcher and 1B are -25, then I still would wager you have one of the better defenses out there.

I think I wrote a huge report about ZR for FOOL-X back several months ago. No idea when it was, but I tried to give a ton of information for people on how they can use it to improve their defenses. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Game of the year.

J. Scarlett of Plantana pitches a 1 hit complete game shutout versus Oshawa.
Plantana also only had one hit going into the 9th inning, and their 2nd hit of the game was a 2 out walkoff HR from A. Velásquez.

In helping Alan look for that thread I ran across this lovely thread full of Alan's expertise. Its not the thread asked for as Alan post that already, but if anyone just needs to past time, on page 4 of this thread a darn lottery full of knowledge. Even if you read it already it might be fun to look at.
