Post Fight Interview - Joe Bagadonuts

Stiener, "Joe, there have been rumors that Beans is contimplating retirement. Is that true?"

Joe, "Wow, this fight was so exciting our first question is about Beans and retirement?"

Stiener, "Oh, yeah, um....Beans made quick work of MoMy...is he progressing the way you'd like?"

Joe, "Well, if we hadn't gotten impatient about 2 fights ago and dropped our guard in the first round...I think we'd have 3 KO wins in a row. I wouldn't say he's progressing as much as I'd like, but I do think we have a handle on his career now."

Stiener, "About the rumors?"

Joe, "Beans had contimplated it, but he's not going to do it yet. He still feels "as much as you can feel in his condition" that he has good fights left in him. Until he feels otherwise...we'll continue to develop fight plans for him."

Post Fight Interview - Joe Bagadonuts

Sugar Ray Leonard, "I thought Pancho was a dancer?"

Joe, "Not tonight."

Sugar Ray, "That was brutal. He abused Fu."

Joe, "They call him the Drunken Master. I think if he wasn't drunk coming into the ring...he's punch drunk leaving it."

Teddy Atlas, "What satisfies you most about this win?"

Joe, "Hopefully, this will confuse some future opponents. I was afraid Pancho had become too much of a dancer, and powerful opponents would start attacking without fear of being hurt, but this win, combined with the KO in the previous fight will make opponents think twice before trying that."

Sugar Ray, "Joe, Pancho's hand speed has gotten extremely fast. He may have some of the fastest hands in the division."

Joe, "Outside of freaks who have no power, but great hand speed I think your probably right. However, we have to get his chin harder and his KO ability a little better."

Once again, it's fight night for the cruisers. Blade goes up against a dancing Iraqi, Butcher gets to take on yet another thug, and Hurricane gets his third shot at Albie Marucci. All in all, it's going to be a couple of tough ones for Blade and Hurricane, while Butcher should have pretty easy sailing.

Well, tough from a winning standpoint. You probably won't get beaten to a pulp, which is good. Ok, if the power stops going out here, I may get some info on these fights out...

INSIDE THE FIGHT

Jimmy “Hurricane” Saunders (13-5-1 7/2) 6’ 0” 171 lbs. Ranked 7th vs Albie Marucci (14-2-0 13/1) 5’ 10” 175 lbs. Ranked 3rd

Hurricane - Marucci III

Background / Overview: These two are back at it again. Once again, Marucci brings in his attacking powerful style while Hurricane will probably come in with a mixture of jabbing and counterattacks to keep Marucci honest. Marucci has won the last two matchups by KO, Hurricane’s only KO losses in his career.

Once again, this is just a terrible matchup for Hurricane because he doesn’t have the power his opponent has to respect. Thus, he can drop his guard and really get after him. Marucci’ll be very difficult to wear out because he will take rounds off to recover from his high energy exertions. Jabbing continually will not be an option as Marucci proved in the last fight. Hurricane can win this matchup, but one mistake would allow Marucci to get the KO. Chances are, a mistake will be made somewhere in the 12 rounds. Marucci by KO in round 10

INSIDE THE FIGHT

Brian “The Butcher” Babson (10-2-1 4/0) 6’ 4” 190 lbs. Ranked 10th vs Justin Wells (32-22-0 29/6) 5’11” 190 lbs. Ranked 11th

Matchups:

Overview: Butcher goes up against the stronger but slower Wells.

Hand Speed: Butcher has an advantage. Wells has been stung by fighters who have counterattacked against his strong style. Edge to Butcher

Foot Movement: Butcher's greatest asset is his ability to confound opponents by dancing around the ring, looking for his shot to take. Wells is more slow-footed and does not get away from punches well. Edge to Butcher

Conditioning: Butcher's conditioning is definitely superior to Wells. And Wells has worn down against fighters built similarly to Butcher. Edge to Butcher

Strength: Wells is huge here. He attempts to bludgeon opponents with his unsubtle power blows. A kudos to Butcher for tremendously improving what was originally his greatest liability. Large edge to Wells

Chin: Butcher gets a slight edge here, for never having been KO'ed in his career. Slight edge to Butcher

Knock-Out Ability: Wells has a big advantage here. He has KO'ed his opponent in almost all of his wins and he has rarely failed to hurt an opponent with his strong blows. Large edge to Wells

Intangibles: Wells has an unimaginative if not effective plan: pound you until you stop getting up. He never varies from this plan, which has severely hurt him in the last fight he lost, where he had an enormous lead on the cards, refused to sit on it, and was gradually worn down and KO'ed. This is a very favorable matchup for Butcher though, because Wells has been vulnerable to the counterattack in his career and Butcher has used this style with success in the past. Edge to Butcher

Outcome: A surprisingly easy win for Butcher, who may be hurt early, but will wear down his opponent and then look for the kill shot. Butcher by KO in round 9

INSIDE THE FIGHT

Cuts Like a Razor “Blade” (14-6-0 12/4) 6’0” 190 lbs. vs. The Baghdad Brad (10-1-0 3/0) 6’2” 187 lbs.

Matchups:

Overview: Blade's opponent is a dancer who has hurt a few of his opponents with his KO ability. He has really only used this ability for defensive purposes, so Blade may drop his guard to go after him.

Hand Speed: Both fighters have average hand speed. Neither is likely to use a style which emphasizes this aspect of their games. Even

Foot Movement Baghdad Brad has an edge here. Some stronger opponents have barely put a dent in him when he uses the ring to his advantage. Blade is more average in his ability to avoid punches. Edge to Baghdad Brad

Conditioning: Both fighters are well-conditioned. Blade has been known to wear down opponents while Baghdad Brad has used his conditioning to stay fresh the entire fight. Eevn

Strength: Blade is a very strong fighter, and this will be more pronounced against the weaker Baghdad Brad. Look for Blade to clinch a lot to reduce Brad's ability to move around the ring or for Blade just to get close to slug harder. Edge to Blade

Chin: Blade's chin is average. Baghdad Brad's is untested. Even

Knock Out Ability: Blade has a good advantage here, although Baghdad Brad has surprised some oppoennts with his ability. Blade has tremendously increased the strength of his power punches in his last few fights. Edge to Blade

Intangibles: Baghdad Brad is managed by an up-and-coming gym in the Southeast. He has generally danced around his opponents to build huge leads and then sit tight on them to victory. Even in his one loss, he could've put more of an effort in the last round to win had he realized he was losing (in his mind he had already won the fight) and still asserts the judges in that fight were bribed. He has proved difficult to wear down and is able to put up a large amount of points in a round. Blade would have a hard time dropping his guard to go after him since Brad has some KO ability. All in all, a challenging fighter for Blade to face. There is one possible chink in the armor though: Baghdad Brad has not generally fought from behind late in a fight. Blade may try to force him into this uncomfortable position to see how he will react. Slight edge to Blade

Outcome: A difficult fighter for Blade to face, yet he should be up to the task. Expect him to go strong at Baghdad Brad early in an attempt to wear him down, then try to get some rounds against a tired adversary. If he gets up enough on the cards, expect him to come out firing to prevent Brad from catching up on the cards with jabbing. Baghdad Brad's best chance is to pile up some early points and then try to fend off a desperate attempt by Blade to catch up. A tough one to predict, but here's a stat worth mentioning: In fights that have gone the full 12 rounds, Blade has a 2-2 record while Baghdad Brad has a 7-1 record. Since the expected outcome of this fight is it to go the distance, we'll give the nod to Baghdad Brad. Baghdad Brad by unanimous decision

Post Fight Interview - Joe Bagadonuts

Jim Lampley, "Joe, Hurricane made it through the fight this time. You pleased with that."

Joe, "I guess."

Stiener, "Hurricane wasn't very aggressive this time around. Why?"

Joe, "Wasn't aggressive. We through more power punches in this one fight than we did in the last 2 combined. Unfortunately, he has more power than we do...so we could come out open up and bomb away. We had to throw power punches from the counter punch attack to protect ourselves."

Atlas, "I thought this was an unfair matchup, did you feel the same way?"

Joe, "YES. Marucci had already KOed us 2 times, and on those occassions we were evenly matched. This time Marucci, is coming off a win where he got better and we didn't."

Burt Sugar, "Anything possitive you can take away from this one?"

Joe, "A couple of things. One, we didn't get KOed. Two despite the loss we moved up in the rankings to #8 and Marucci is #1 so if he wins...which I expect he will...he will be moving on soon."

Stiener, "Blade didn't seem too effective tonight."

Joe, "It was a bad match up for us."

Kellerman, "Why not work a little harder?"

Joe, "We tried that in sparring. You noticed that Brad was able to post up to 90 points in a round without working too hard. We couldn't match that...even for a short period of time. Our best bet was to try and wear him out, and it didn't work."

Burt Sugar, "This win puts Babson at #4 in the rankings. You thinking title fight?"

Joe, "We have business to take care of before we get a title fight. I'm sure we'll have to win our next fight first, and probably the one after that too."

Foreman, "Butcher really stood up to the bigger stronger fighter tonight."

Joe, "Butcher's not afraid of anyone. He's gotten much stronger, in fact, he bulked up so much we had a hard time making weight. Thankfully, I think we have that undercontrol for now, and we should have no problem making weight for the next fight."

These days, it seems like there's never a week without a rematch or two. The theme continues tonight as Jace Hunter goes up against Spook of Ashland City's McDonalds, Les "their" Cherries' old punching bag who went down hard in round two of that fight. Les goes up against "Diamond" Donnie Davis, one of the types of fighters we feared Cherries would meet against in the heavyweight division: a tall very agile fighter who will make it almost impossible for Cherries to land a killing KO blow. Worse, he's managed by the 'godfather' of SE gyms, which has managed over 4600 (!!!) fights and whose fighters have won 90 regional titles.

Teddy Atlas, "Cherries was up big on the cards going into the last couple of rounds...were you aware of that."

Joe, "Yes."

Atlas, "What happened, did Cherries run out of gas?"

Joe, "That was part of it. Jabbing like that is something Les isn't used to. He also got a little lazy. He had been tagged a couple of times during the fight, but it wasn't enough to get his attention. Basically he felt like Diamond didn't have the power to drop him."

Merchant, "This has to be disappointing."

Joe, "A win a against a gym like that, especially when our fighter isn't really designed to win this matchup, would have been very gratifying. But, we didn't win...so we'll go back into the Gym, work harder, and try to get them next time."

Bobby "Baked" Beans (11-9-0, 11/3) vs. Payback Perry (7-5-0, 2/2)

Beans - Perry III

Overview and Outcome Despite his opponent's name, it will be Beans seeking payback in this match. In their two previous matches, Beans suffered a crushing KO loss, one of only 4 in his career, and in their rematch lost on the cards. However, Beans has become much more adept at taking a punch and delivering punishment than in their first two meetings. Perry uses a very vanilla style of attack, trying to do just enough to win on the cards and use enough power to forstalll an oppoennt from dropping his guard. Look for Beans to come in slugging to his body, take a break late in the fight to get ston...I mean, gather his energy, and then take his tired opponent down. Beans by KO in round 12

Charlie Stiener, "A 12th round KO, that's a tactic we haven't seen from Beans in a while. Why tonight?"

Joe, "We felt from watching film and from our previous fights that Perry would night run away with a big lead. So we decided to soften him up before delievering the final blow."

Foreman, "That's 3 straight KOs for Beans, do you think you've final hit your stride with him."

Joe, "I don't want to jinx anything, but we are getting better with his fight plans."

Behind the Scenes

A look today at a gym teaching a unique training method to its boxers. Mr. Gnu, who runs the training out of his garage, has his boxers spend almost all of their time learning to grab onto treees in his backyard as tightly as possible.

"I find this tree-grabbing method really increases the strength of my fighters and teaches them how to effectively clinch in the ring," said Mr. Gnu. "These guys know how to clinch HARD when they get in the ring, which really wears down their opponents fast."

Mr. Gnu was kind enough to allow us to tape Gnu Clincher 1 (not his real name. One of Mr. Gnu's requirements for joining his gym is to leave your former name behind and to take on a nickname with Gnu in the name), who faces FOFC boxer Pancho O'Kelly tonight, performing this technique. The tree groaned against the strength of Gnu Clincher 1 until eventually the tree trunk cracked and fell over.

"You see this tree? This is what I will do to O'Kelly tonight."

INSIDE THE FIGHT

Pancho O’Kelly (14-5-2 9/3) 5’10” 153 lbs. Ranked #10 vs. Gnu Clincher 1 (14-4-0 13/4) 5’1” 153 lbs. Ranked #9

Matchups:

Overview: After an up-and-down spell a couple of months back, Pancho has really hit his groove, winning his past five fights. In addition, he has absolutely pummeled his last two opponents into brutal middle-round knockouts. He’ll be surely tested tonight in a battle of top 10 Super-Welterweights by Gnu Clincher 1, an incredibly strong boxer who likes to wear out his opponents until they are helpless.

Hand Speed: Both fighters have excellent hand speed for their division, but Pancho will have a large edge in reach which gives him an edge here. Edge to Pancho

Foot Movement Gnu Clincher 1 has below average movement in the ring, but he avoids taking punishing hits by tightly clinching to his opponent. Pancho is very light on his feet. Large edge to Pancho

Conditioning: Both fighters are well-conditioned, but Pancho has an advantage here. However, he will likely wear down against Gnu’s powerful body blows. Slight edge to Pancho

Strength: Pancho is far more of a dancer than puncher. Gnu Clincher 1 is quite the opposite, packing an incredible force into each punch. This one is not even close. Insanely huge edge to Gnu Clincher 1

Chin: Both fighters are glass-jawed and this could well prove a deciding factor in this fight. Even

Knock Out Ability: Pancho has been developing his KO punch to the point where it is almost a useful weapon. Gnu has no deceptive KO ability despite his great strength. Edge to Pancho

Intangibles: Great Gnu’s Garage is an impressive gym whose fighters have garnered 18 SE title belts. His fighters will often utilize crafty tactics to win matches, but one thing by and large his fighters are known for, and that is delivering beatings to fighters that many never recover from. Pancho has already had a couple of hard fights against another Gnu Clincher, number 4, going 1-1 against him. Pancho’s fights have been well-managed recently, but it’s a big test for him tonight. Even

Outcome: Mr. Gnu has been eerily silent when asked about his plans for facing Pancho a third time, but it’s likely he will try and wear down Pancho. What’s unclear is his strategy after he has accomplished this: will he go for the KO or try to catch up to Pancho’s greater activity? He’ll have to be careful not to drop his guard, because Pancho could try a quick KO strike if he opens up too much. This one could go the distance and be a painful bout for Pancho. Gnu Clincher 1 by KO in round 12

Post Fight Interview - Joe Bagadonuts

Jim Lampley, "Joe, the fans got a little testy with the performance in the ring tonight."

Joe, "I don't give a sh....dam...cra....ahhhhh.....durn, what the fans think. They didn't have to stand in the ring against a fighter that is capable of knocking down trees with his bare hands. Pancho had a fight to win and the plan was to keep the defense up and do just enough to win rounds. And it worked."

Atlas, "Were you afraid of possibly taking injuries that could have shortened Panch's career."

Joe, "Would you be?"

Atlas, "Uh...yes."

Joe, "Ok. I've very pleased by this win. It moves Pancho up to 6th in the rankings and if we can put together a few more good fights, we could be in line for a title shot."

FOFC Fighter in top 50 of P4P Rankings

Brian "the Butcher" Babson is currently ranked 37 in the pound for pound best Southeastern Fighters. The rest of the FOFC fighters are not fairing as well.

Jace Hunter has nearly climbed into the top 100, and Les Cherries recent 12th round KO knocked him back to 117. Pancho O'Kelly's recent run has him at 159, but his most recent win was over currently #85 Gnu 1. Albie Marrucci, who has really hurt Hurricane Saunder's in the P4P rankings is currently #10. Blade and Beans are lower on the lists.

Jimmy “Hurricane” Saunders (13-6-1 7/2) 6’ 0” Ranked 8th vs. Jimmy “The Blade” (16-7-2 4/4) 6’ 0” Ranked 9th

Matchups:

Overview: Hurricane will try to shrug off two defeats to Albie Marucci and fight another top 10 battle as he takes on an opponent with the same first name, same height, and same nickname as another fighter in the FOFC gym (no relation however). The Blade is very well-conditioned, but also can pack a wallop if he feels the fight is not going his way.

Hand Speed: Hurricane’s has very quick glove movement and it’s expected he should outpace his opponent in this area. Edge to Hurricane

Foot Movement: This is the strongest area for both fighters, so expect to see a lot of shifting around the ring by both fighters, jockeying for advantage. Slight edge to The Blade

Conditioning: Hurricane and The Blade are well-conditioned fighters who don’t normally wear out in the end of fights. Even

Strength: Both fighters have under average strength for their level, but still at a level that merits respect from most fighters. Even

Chin: Both fighters have average to above average chins. It’s a rarity to see either of them get knocked out. Even

Knock-Out Ability: Both opponents are capable of KOing their opponent, but neither of them thrives in this situation. Even

Intangibles: The Blade fights for the same gym which houses Long Haul Lou (Butcher’s nemesis) and Kung “Drunken Master” Fu who Pancho completely demolished recently. Jimmy “The Blade” suffers from the same problem the other Grox fighters do: they follow a very strict fight plan that they do not waver from. Grox fighters have garnered a lot of victories from their incredible discipline, but they fall prey to opponents who can find cracks in their careful plans…opponents such as Joe Bagadonuts. Large edge to Hurricane

Outcome: The opponents are very similar, and in cases like this it will come down to the fight plan. Expect Hurricane to make use of his speed to win a bunch of rounds early then cruise to a victory. Hurricane in a unanimous decision

Cuts Like a Razor “Blade” (14-7-0 12/5) 6’0” 190 lbs. vs. Robert “Hard Body” Harrison (20-12-0 16/11) 6’0” 190 lbs.

Matchups:

Overview: Blade tripped up last week against a very talented opponent, but this week he has a chance at redemption against a “Hard Body” who likes to take advantage of whatever opportunities he has and then, if he’s losing late in the fight, go berserk for the KO.

Hand Speed: Both fighters have average hand speed. Even

Foot Movement Hard Body’s ability to avoid punches is somewhat uncertain, but he is probably deficient as he likes to clinch tightly to keep opponents close to his punishing blows. Blade is around average in his agility. Edge to Blade

Conditioning: Both fighters are well-conditioned and aren’t expected to wear down. Eevn

Strength: Blade is a very strong fighter who has worn down many opponents successfully. Hard Body is a force in the ring, punishing many fighters who were unprepared for his powerful blows. Edge to Hard Body

Chin: Both fighters have average ability to withstand power punches. Hard Body has been KO’ed a number of times, though most were from underestimating the strength of his opposition. Slight edge to Blade

Knock Out Ability: Blade and Hard Body excel in this area of their games. A slight advantage to Hard Body who in a number of fights has hurt his opponents in every round from the start of the fight till the end. Slight edge to Hard Body

Intangibles: Blade seems to have an amazing fortune in fighting opponents who can overpower him when strength is his strongest attribute. Hard Body has been an effective fighter for the most part, but falls into a similar pattern which will likely be his downfall in this fight. If he is losing in the 9th round, he tends to open up to try and destroy an unsuspecting opponent. For some reason, prior opponents have not caught on to this. Blade has been made aware however, and he will likely be well-prepared for such an assault on him. Huge edge to Blade

Outcome: Look for Blade to start jabbing lightly while backpedaling away from Hard Body’s power. When Hard Body realizes he’s down a ton on the cards, he will drop his guard to go after Blade. At that point, Blade will go hard inside to Hard Body, at which point Hard Body will need some powerful smelling salts. Blade by KO in round 9

INSIDE THE FIGHT

Brian “The Butcher” Babson (13-2-1 6/0) 6’ 4” 190 lbs. vs U B GET N KILLED (14-5-1 0/2) 6’9” 188 lbs.

Matchups:

Overview: Butcher is quickly climbing the Cruiserweight charts and looks to position himself to challenge for the SE Regional title. His opponent, another of the kinder gentler named boxers from the FOWL PLAY H.O.H gym (have they heard of lower case letters?), had a meteoric rise to his career before his current string of 4 consecutive losses. In fact, his status and therefore his abilities are superior to Butcher, but they felt the matchup was fair given his current slump and Butcher’s 3 game winning streak.

Hand Speed: Butcher is at a disadvantage here. His opponent has superior speed and a longer reach which will make it harder for Butcher to win rounds. Edge to U B

Foot Movement: Butcher’s strongest attribute, it is nevertheless dwarfed by the foot movement and punch avoidance of his opponent. Edge to U B

Conditioning: Both opponents are well conditioned, although Butcher has rarely worn down in his career. His opponent is either Butcher’s equal or has a slight disadvantage here, but it’s difficult to tell. Slight edge to Butcher

Strength: Another similar opponent to Butcher’s last that he faced from the FOWL PLAY gym in that his strength is just pathetic. A huge advantage to Butcher who has respectable if not impressive strength. Huge edge to Butcher

Chin: Babson has a superior chin to his opponent, but only by a small margin. Slight edge to Butcher

Knock-Out Ability: U B has had no KO’s in his career, so he’s automatically at a disadvantage, however he has surprised a few recent opponents with a good pop to the chin, though not enough for the full KO. Babson has developed his KO ability nicely and it may well be on display for tonight’s fight. Edge to Babson

Intangibles: This is incredibly the fourth time in five weeks this gym has had a fighter meet up with Butcher. U B is very similar to Hatchets n Hammers, another FOWL PLAY fighter who Butcher has fought recently. Interestingly, they seem to be similarly trained, with the two fighters sharing plans back and forth. Butcher had an effective plan against Hatchets n Hammers both times he faced him and will likely use a slightly modified version of that plan tonight. It will be a matter of adaptivity by the FOWL PLAY gym to have a victory tonight. Slight edge to Butcher

Outcome: Butcher has had strong plans the last two times he faced a similar fighter from this same gym. U B has run into some trouble in recent weeks and still has resorted to similar plans as he is a fairly one dimensional fighter who can’t hurt you with his power. Butcher will force U B to open up to win rounds. When he does that, Butcher will turn loose on him, likely causing a painful defeat for U B. Even if U B comes after Butcher some, Butcher will still win on the cards, dancing away from U B’s weak blows. Unless FOWL PLAY comes up with a brilliant plan, expect Butcher to get the victory. Butcher by KO in round 8

Post Fight Interview - Joe Bagadonuts

Larry Merchant, "Looked like Hurricane cruised in this one."

Joe, "We through a lot of punches early, but for the most part...yeah we cruised."

Teddy Atlas, "Didn't seem to be much of a challenge."

Joe, "We had a good read on what Blade wanted to do. So we developed a plan that would allow us to beat him without taking too many shots."

Atlas, "Does this help your fighters confidence?"

Joe, "Sure, we had a couple of heartbreaking losses to a fighter that I'm guessing currently holds the SE belt for the division. There was no shame in losing to Marucci, but it doesn't matter how many times you tell your fighter that...losing can kill confidence. To make things even better for Hurricane, we won easily on the cards and we didn't work hard, so that just magnifies the tonic aspect of this fight."

Mac Aroni mumbling in the background, "Sounds like Joe's been hitting the tonic...gin and tonic that is."

Jim Lampley, "Blade came out jabbing that was a...."

Joe interrupting, "Surprise. Yeap. We wanted to get an early lead before breaking out a can of woop ass."

Mac mumbles, "Uh-oh...he's really been hitting the sauce."

Atlas, "The last round..."

Joe interrupting again, "Wooo..did you see that."

Joe shadow boxing on stage continues "The Uppercut to the ribs, hook to the temple - don't know how Harrison stayed on his feet after that one, Hook to the face - oh that was ugly, popped him on the chin, then BAMB (Joe swings so hard he loses his balance, spins around and nearly falls off the stage). On a serious note. I want to thank JAG for his help in scouting and fight planning. He has really contibuted on the recent success the gym has had.

It takes a lot of time to prepare for these fights (especially since we are currently facing good gyms because our fighters are highly ranked). I don't have the time to do it all...and JAG has really stepped up to help.

Albie Marucci wins Light- Heavyweight SE Title

As expected Albie Marucci won the light heavy belt last night. If he defends his win in his next fight, he will move into the contenders.

Butcher: (carrying Joe) Hey, who said Joe was drunk? He's just happy and tired. He's been up the past few nights working late with me, Hurricane, and Blade preparing us for last night's fights. I've never felt more prepared for a fight in my life. I'm getting tired of beating up Fowl Play's punching bags.

Speaking of which, I want to introduce my dumbbell which has brougth me such good luck. (puts Joe down to hold the dumbbell over his head) His name is Dummy. Without him, I would never have been strong enough to put that KILLER on the mat. He is a true friend and I've learned a lot from him.

Would you believe who Hunter faces today...try not to laugh.

INSIDE THE FIGHT

Jace Hunter (15-5-0 15/4) 6’2” 248 lbs. vs.Megalon (23-20-0 23/20) 7’0” 402 lbs.

Hunter – Megalon I:

Overview and Outcome: So the fat blob known as Megalon returns to face another FOFC fighter. Hunter has been one of the hottest fighters in the FOFC gym recently, winning 9 of his last 10 bouts, all by KO. He’s currently working on making his KO power even more impressive in order to bring down even the most agile fighters he may face. His opponent today is clearly overmatched. Hunter will probably follow Cherries’ fight plan which worked so well to dominate Megalon. This could be comical, as Hunter’s slowness in the ring is well-known, but even if he gets tagged by a punch or two, it won’t be near enough to bring him down. As Cherries did, he’ll simply wait until his opponent exhausts himself and then blast him to the matt.

No word yet on whether Les “their” Cherries will allow Hunter to borrow his trunks with the hamburgers on them. Hunter by KO in round 5

INSIDE THE FIGHT

Les “their” Cherries (15-5-0 14/3) 6’2” 220 lbs. vs. Tomato Can #22983 (14-5-0 3/1) 6’4” 190 lbs. (incidently, when a boxer has a vulgar name and they catch it, they rename the boxer Tomato Can)

Matchups:

Overview: Tonight, Les begins his training to increase his footwork in the ring. This will allow him to move down a weight division and will greatly improve his ability to wear down other fighters. His opponent will have his hands full dealing with Cherries’ power.

Hand Speed: Tomato Can has a speed advantage and will likely win the majority of rounds from Cherries, but will he still be standing at the end of the fight for it to matter? Edge to Tomato

Foot Movement: Cherries is working on his agility, but at this point, it is only average. In the meanwhile, his opponent is very adept at avoiding punches, which will likely cause Cherries to have to drop his guard to get after him. Edge to Tomato

Conditioning: Both fighters are well-conditioned. Cherries will try and wear his opponent down to start, but Tomato Can has resisted being worn down fairly well in his career. Even

Strength: This one isn’t close. Cherries is a big bruiser, especially compared to the cream puff he’s facing. Large edge to Cherries

Chin: Cherries has an excellent chin. Tomato Can has only been KO’ed once in his career, but he also hasn’t had to face too many KO artists like Cherries. Slight edge to Cherries

Knock Out Ability: Cherries has a huge advantage here. His opponent has amassed three KO’s in his 19 fight career, but all were against opponents who were completely exhausted. Large edge to Cherries

Intangibles: A poor matchup for Tomato Can, as he prefers to use a very simple fight plan for the entire fight, never deviating from it no matter what. His style is far too passive to work against a powerful fighter like Cherries. Huge edge to Cherries

Outcome: Cherries will be patient, methodically wearing down his opponent, knowing he can wait until Tomato is at his most tired state before going for the killing blow. Expect an easy 12th round KO victory for Cherries as he looks to climb into the top 20 of the SE Heavyweights. Cherries by KO in round 12

FOFC Gym Update

With the recent run of good luck, the FOFC gym is currently winning at about a 64% clip. While not overly impressive, that win percentage places the FOFC gym in the Southeast's top 25. However, the win percentage is being dragged down by many early fights, before the current wave of fighters arrived on the scene.

Since the arrival of Pancho O'Kelly, Jimmy "Hurrincane" Saunders, Blade, Les "their" Cherries, Jace Hunter, Bobby "Baked" Beans, and Brian "the Butcher" Babson, the gym has performed much better. The 7 fighters listed above are winning at a 72% clip. If only these fighters records counted, the FOFC gym would be currently ranked 6th in the Southeast.

The only gyms that would have a higher ranking, include:

1 The Art of Pugilism
2 Satty Street
3 Carolina Badminton Club (Cheez Whiz)
4 Redneck Road Warriors
5 Hell`s Bell`s
