My Grades from Herb:
Team Performance: 17/100 Franchise Value: 72/100 Profit/Loss 70/100 Roster Strength 69/100 Year End Score: 55 Not a very promising first year, but I think we can turn it around. This year the cap has increased 6.6 million dollars and will increase that much each year for the next 6 years. Now that is it the off-season, my first move is to try to hire someone to replace my bad scout. There aren't any great scouts available, but Nicky Haupt, the SF scout is excellent at evaluating young talent and DL. He is good at OL and average at everything else. This would be a significant upgrade over my own scout who is poor in multiple areas and is only good at QB's. I offer Nicky 650k (the most my owner will allow me to offer) over the next 3 years (it just so happens the best scout in the league will be available in 3 more years so this is good..) Despite his poor performance, I like my head coach Donovan Turnver. He is good at injury avoidance and is very good at discipline and motivation. I might replace him eventually, but he has 4 more years at 2.1 million and I want to give him more time with a real offensive line. My OC is bad with QB's but is very good with everything else and is excellent with young talent. I definitely want to keep him for the 1 more year that he is under contract. I may very well try to extend his deal next year when he is willing to talk. My DC is also under contract for 1 more year and he is very good with DL, average with LB's, and good with DB's. He is very good with young talent. We'll keep him for at least one more year as well. Unfortunately, Nicky chose to go for the 5 year 600k/year deal that GBY was offering. So, I start pursuing Brant Brayshaw. He is poor at evaluating QB's, but I don't plan on needing a new QB in the next few years. He is good at OL's, Young Talent, DL's, and RB's. He is average at everything else. Still a big upgrade from my current scout. I offer him 600k/year for 3 years. Brant accepts my deal and that finishes my staff hiring. |

Notable Retirements (not all retirements, but just ones that really caught my eye.)
Brett Favre, GBY Troy Vincent, Buf Drew Bledsoe, Dal Troy Brown, NE Will Shields, KC Mike Bartrum, PHI Larry Allen, SF Isaac Bruce, STL. Willie McGinest, Cle Robbie Tobeck, SEA Derrick Brooks, TBY Ty Law, KC Curtis Martin, NYJ Mike Alstott, TBY Amani Toomer, Giants Warrick Dunn, Atl Ahman Green, GBY Grant Wistrom, SEA Ashley Lelie, Atl Organizing for FA: McNabb looks much lower (58/58) under the new scout (who is worse at QB rating.) However, I want to get a better backup QB. We are set at RB with Westbrook and Moats. I'll try to re-sign Buckhalter to a modest deal as well. I'd like to get a better FB than Tapeh. L.J. looks like he will recover well from the injury. Baskett still looks good to this scout (54/60 now) Reggie Brown looks a bit better to this scout (43/52) Stallworth is 46/46. I'd still go after a top WR if available and have a nasty top 4. Todd Herremans is rated 38/58 and should be good once he develops. Shawn Andrews is 56/65 and is huge. He already looks good. Scott Young and Max Jean-Gilles look like good backup material. Dawkins didn't retire, so he gets the Franchise tag. Even though he and Lewis don't like each other, they form a top safety tandem. So, Skimming the rest of the rosters. Here are the needs that must be met via either the draft or FA: 1. Top Quality LT 2. Starting Quality RT 3. Good Punter Everywhere else we are set. However, other things I would like: 1. Better Backup QB 2. Top tier WR 3. Top tier FB (probably via draft) 4. A TE with potential (in case LJ doesn't come back from his injury well.) 5. A WLB to groom in case McCoy isn't the answer. 6. A Young CB with potential to play dime back this year (or nickel if he is better than I think.) 7. A backup SS with some potential. |

Nope, I don't see him. Here are all of the players from ND in the file at least when I loaded it (using Yabanci's 1.1 Draft Version. Thanks Yabanci for the excellent work on this!) QB Brady Quinn - looks like a solid 1st rounder if not the 1st pick. DE Victor Abiamiri - Looks like a probable 1st rounder. DT Derek Landri - 1st vs 2nd rounder T Ryan Harris - Probably 2nd rounder S Tom Zbitkowski probably 2nd rounder, maybe 3rd rounder. WR Jeff Samardzija - 3rd rounder? Has a red flag for character Will it make him drop? CB Mike Richardson - 3rd or 4th rounder maybe? I don't have a great handle on FOF 2k7 drafting yet, so we'll see how close my predictions are. Interestingly, it looks like Tennessee, Cal, and Michigan have the most players (14), Louisville has 13, USC has 12. Several other big schools have 10 or 11. No, Auburn has 18 which is by far the most. |

FA:
We re-sign Buckhalter to a 720,000 dollar, 1 year deal (no bonus.) We re-sign LT Nick Howard, a 2nd year player who is rated 9/41, to a 1 year 470k no bonus deal. We let the following players explore FA (with no intention to re-sign them at any point): QB Jeff Garcia (23/23) RB Reno Mahe (26/26) TE Brian Jennings (24/24) LT L.J. Shelton (24/24) P Lance Randle (32/49) DE Juqua Thomas (21/21) WLB Shawn Barber (29/29 - 10 year vet who I think is about to lose skills) RCB Roderick Hood (25/25 - has extreme conflict with Lewis and doesn't have the talent to justify keeping him.) FS Quintin Mikell (22/32) - Rather get a younger guy to develop at the backup SS. Unfortunately for me (but good for the game AI) there are no elite T's available in FA. In fact, there aren't really any elite players. However, there are two VG players and one of them is a RT. Willie Anderson is rated 75/75. He had 39 KRB, 97KRO, with a 40.2%. He allowed 10 sacks though which is fairly bad. He has 6 pancakes. He has a OPct of 21.8 which was one of the better numbers in the league. However, he is a 12 year veteran who might start declining soon.. The other VG player is 72/72 rated Pisa Tinoisamoa who is only in his 5th year. He had 90 tackles, 23 assists, 2.5 sacks, and 1 hurry. He defended 7 passes and had 2 interceptions but he allowed defenders to catch 46 passes against him. Basically, he didn't quite perform to his lofty ratings. Dhani Jones didn't have as many tackles, but actually has better pass defense stats and is rated 59/59. Not interested in that big ticket item.. However, there are several intriguing players in FA: LT Eric Steinbach is rated 57/57. He is a 5th year player. Isn't the elite LT I wanted and also is coming back from a severe back injury that caused him to miss the 2nd half of last season. However, he might be worth the risk IF there are no great T's available in the draft.. FL Kevin Curtis is rated 57/57 by my scout. He had 90 catches for over 1300 yards. The biggest drawback is that he led the Rams in drops and definitely drops too many. This may be due to severe lack of courage across the middle. Now, let's look at who might be available in the draft - particularly for our 1st round pick. Edited to add: Our scouts believe Willie could play LT very well if I decide to sign the veteran.

We are drafting 6th in the 1st round and alternating with 7th and 8th in the other rounds.
Possible Draft Targets: Our scouts believe Levi Brown is the best T in the draft. He primarily played RT at Penn State but could easily switch to LT. He ran a 5.17, Benched 30 times, had a 7.62 agility drill, and a 8 ft 1 in broad jump. Our scouts believe he is 44% developed. After bringing him in for an interview, our scouts believe he isn't quite as good as before, but that he would still be a top tier T. They do think he may have a conflict with our team leader in the line, but that leader will be leaving in a year or two.. Joe Thomas refused to do any combine drills, but he is a massive T from Wisconsin that our scouts like. However, once we brought him in for an interview, our scouts think he is slightly overrated. They also think he has very high volatility, but is very intelligent. They think he is about 48% developed. Sam Baker is another interesting prospect. He is from my Alma Mater, USC, and is well regarded. However, he is very raw at this point. Despite this, I'll interview him as a possible pick if we trade down (unlikely) or he is available in the 2nd round (also unlikely.) After interviewing him, our scouts think he is a bit overrated as well. Aaron Sears is a RT from Tennessee who has a very high intelligence according to our scouts. He ran a 5.2, benched 33 times, and ran a 7.73 in the agility drill. He had a 8 foot even broad jump. He is only 25% developed but our scouts think he could be great. They still think that after we bring him in and take a closer look. If I get T's in FA, I might go WR in the 1st round so let's look at a few of the elite ones: Ted Ginn, Jr. ran a 4.30, benches 11 times, has a 6.83 agility. He has a 10' 10" broad jump and a 61 in the position score. He is 26% developed. After bringing him in, our scous think he is a bit overrated, but still think he will be a truly elite receiver one day. Steve Breaston of Michigan ran a 4.37 benched it 13 times, ran a 6.80 in the agility. He had a 10' 2" broad jump. He has a 60 position score. He is 32% developed. Our scouts think he is as good as rated when we bring him in and think he will be a great receiver (but not quite as good as Ginn.) Calvin Johnson is the biggest of the elite 3 receivers, and I like that. He runs a 4.36, benches 14 times, ran a 6.80 in the agility drill. 8'4" broad jump. 56 in the position drill, but is already 41% developed. Not quite as good as the others as adjusting to the ball. Once we brought him in, our scouts think he is very overrated. Not taking him. Dwayne Jarrett is rated slightly lower than the other 3, but has very nice skills according to most scouts. He runs a 4.41, 6.98, and benches it 18 times. He has a 8'4". 65 Position drill, but is only 18% developed. After bringing him in, our scouts think he is slightly overrated and in particular is only average at route running. After interviewing Sidney Rice, our scouts really like the receiver from South Carolina. He runs a 4.46, 22 bench presses, 7.14 agility, 8'7" broad jump, and a position drill of 58. He is 39% developed. His biggest shortcoming is below average adjusting to the ball. Just for fun, we brought Brady Quinn in. Our scouts think he is Very Overrated, and will only be a slightly above average QB. They also think Troy Smith is very overrated, but that he should be a good QB. A few other interesting interviews: They think Brian Leonard is overrated but should be a good receiver and a good runner. Just an ok blocker. He runs a 4.71, benches 26, 7.18 in the agility drill. 9'2" broad jump. 44 position skill. 21% developed. We may take him if I can trade back into the 2nd round and he is there.. Our scouts love Brandon Hancock from USC. They think he will excel at everything. He has a 4.80, 22 bench presses, 7.56 agility drill. 9'1" broad jump. 29 Position skill and 32% developed. Basically, I want either Levi Brown or Ted Ginn, Jr with my 1st round pick and I want to try to add a valuable player at the other position via FA. Which do I go with? Who do I think will last to the 3rd or 4th pick? (I'll be looking to try to trade up a few spots from the 6th pick.) |

After thinking about it a bit, I'm staying away from Steinbach due to the very serious injury. I'm staying away from Curtis because he will get too many balls thrown to him without being a truly elite receiver. I'm going to go hard after Willie Anderson and pray that he doesn't decline for at least two years. If I get him, I'll go after Ted Ginn, Jr. hopefully with the 1st round pick. If I don't get Ginn, I'll go after a T and have my two T's solved.
Anderson doesn't even want a lot. He wants 6.3 million signing and a total of 12 million over 2 years. I figure we might be facing some competition for the top guy so I offer 14 milion over the 2 years. Specifically, I offer 14.06 million over 2 years. I also offer a modest deal of 6 million over 3 years to TE Daniel Graham who would be an awesome compliment to L.J. Smith and would make our 2 TE sets deadly. Willie Anderson signed our deal immediately. Daniel Graham signed a slightly larger deal from Detroit. I consider breaking down and going after Steinbach after all. Instead, I trade my 1st in 08, along with my 2nd and 4th in 09 for Atlanta's 1st this year (7th pick in the draft.) I'll try to leverage that up if needed, but I'm hopefully to get the 2nd T overall at #7. However, I decide to get some insurance at FB in case I don't get a top tier FB in the draft. I offer James Mungro 10 million over 5 years to come join us. Indianapolis offers a bit more, so I raise it to 11.4 million over 5 years and he signs with me. That will end our early Free Agent Adventures. |

The draft has begun and I'm hoping Ginn lasts to the 3rd pick. If he does, I'll try to trade up. I don't think he will last past #3.
I'm fairly sure Detroit will take a QB, and they do. They take Brady Quinn #1. I think Denver will take a RB. They surprise me. I guess they aren't convinced Cutler is the real deal, or they just think Troy Smith is too good to pass up. Then again, if I didn't have McNabb, I would have taken Smith in a heartbeat. GB worries me a bit, but I think they might take Frank Okam who looks like a monster at DT. Also, Adrian Peterson looks like a terrific running back and Green just retired. I'll take a chance and hope Ginn falls to 4th.. GB Takes Adrian Peterson! Next up is Cleveland. I'm worried they may take Ginn and i think he is really worth it. I give them the 1(6) pick and my 2nd in next year's draft. They would not take anything lower. We draft Ted Ginn, Jr. 4th. I'm starting to hope Levi might fall to 7th! Jacksonville takes Daymeion Hughes, the CB from Cal 5th! Cleveland takes the monster DT Frank Okam. We select Levi Brown from Penn State with the 7th pick. The Jets take Gaines Adams, a DE from Clemson 8th. Houston trades the 9th pick to SD. SD selects Laron Landry the Safety from LSU who looks to me like he will be an all-pro. Chicago takes Kevin Kolb from Houston 10th. He looked like the 3rd or 4th best QB and looked good. Steve Breaston goes 11th to Washington. Maybe the trade up wasn't necessary for Ginn, but I'm just glad I got him. 12th Buffalo takes Quentin Moses the DE from Georgia. 13th Tennessee takes the MLB H.B. Blades from Pittsburgh. 14th SF takes Antoine Cason, the CB from Arizona. 15th Dallas takes Fred Bennett, CB from South Carolina. 16th New Orleans takes Calvin Johnson, WR from Georgia Tech. 17th TB takes Paul Posluszny, the OLB from Penn State. 18th KC takes the T Joe Thomas from Wisconsin. 19th Minnesota takes Kyle Wright, the QB from Miami. He looked like the 2nd best to my scout. 20th Cleveland takes Xavier Adibi, OLB from VT. 21st Baltimore takes Brandon Mebane the DT from California. 22nd Oakland takes TE Matt Spaeth from Minnesota 23rd St. Louis takes Sidney Rice the WR from South Carolina. 24th The Giants take Sam Baker, the T from USC. (I was going to trade back into the 2nd round if he was still there.) 25th Miami takes Darrelle Revis, CB from Pitt. 26th Pittsburgh takes Drew Stanton, QB from Michigan State. 27th Cincinnati takes Brian Brohm QB from Louisville. (teams seem to be spending high picks to secure a good backup QB.) 28th Joustin takes Chase Ortiz, DE from TCU. 29th Arizona takes Aaron Sears, T from Tennessee. 30th New England takes Oscar Lua, MLB from USC (I liked him too.) 31st The Colts take Dwayne Jarrett, WR from USC. 32nd Seattle takes Jarrett Hicks, WR from Texas Tech. Actually, I'll post a transaction log for the whole draft if possible since this one has real players. Some other interesting picks (as well as my picks): Kenny Irons is still available at 40. If he lasts much longer, I might take him... oops he just went 37th to Jacksonville Atlanta took QB from LSU JaMarcus Russell 38th. Leonard is still avialable. I'm going to get him if he lasts to 52nd. DE from USC Lawrence Jackson went 45th to SF. Marshawn Lynch is still available as well, but he didn't do very well on his position specific drill.. He just went 50th to Minnesota. To get the 2nd round pick from Oakland (53rd overall) I trade my 2008 3rd round pick and 2009 3rd round pick. I planned on taking Leonard with that pick, but there is a T that my scouts loved who is still on the board - they thought he was very underrated and think he could be a great all around blocker. Marion Dukes from Clemson. Great size. 43% developed. He would take over nicely when Willie Anderson declines/retires. Lots of guys still on the board that most scouts rate ahead of Leonard. If he is there for my 3rd round 8th pick, I'll take him then. Darn, he wasn't even on the overall board yet (at least 15 guys ahead of him) but Indianapolis just took Leonard 63rd overall. I end up taking Brandon Hancock with our 3rd round pick. He doesn't have as good of combine numbers, but our scout thinks he will be a very good all around FB. Oh yeah, it looks like I vastly underestimated the talent of the draft and therefore was way too early in my predictions of when the ND players would be drafted.. Even though our scouts think he is overrated, his combine numbers are great. So, in the 4th round I take a chance on Sam Kellar as our backup QB. Michael Bush refused to work out, but goes 4-18 to Detroit. Derek Landri, the DT from ND, finally goes in the 4th round. Darn, the P I want goes 119th to Dallas. Malone from Miami. GB takes another Cal QB in the 5th round as they select Joseph Ayoob. In the 5th round, I'm flying Blind but based on the limited info I have, we take what appears to be the best Punter left - Brandon Fields of Michigan State. He is a big guy if nothing else (6'6 265.) C Ryan Kalil of USC went 142nd to Tennessee. Chris Leak went 147th to Tampa Bay. We take Dallas Sartz, the OLB from USC with our 6th round pick. He has very good potential as a run stopper and a M2M defender (which I want to be more of our primary defense.) Tyler Palko, the QB from Pitt, who I almost took in the 4th round lasted to the 6th round where he went to Buffalo. Clark Harris, the TE from Rutgers, went 185th to Cincinatti. I would have taken him sooner if I remembered he was still there. Jeff Samardzija went to the Jets in the 7th round. Guess my scout isn't the only one who didn't like how he scouted. Also, I think the red flag hurt him. With out 7th round pick, we get a TE that my scouts like. Melvin Bryant from Illinois. Should be a good all around TE.

Ted Ginn, Jr. rejected a 6 year 31.2 million dollar deal.
Sam Kellar rejected 3.2 million over 4 years. Melvin Bryant signed a 3 year deal for 1.5 million. Dallas Sartz signed a 3 year deal for 1.67 million. Brandon Fields signed a 3 year deal for 1.73 million. Brandon Hancock signed a 4 year deal for 3.69 million. Marion Dukes signed a 4 year 5.72 million dollar deal. Levi Brown signed a 6 year 26.12 million dollar deal. Our initial scout impressions: Brandon Fields is rated 71/71! Not bad at all. Ted Ginn, Jr. is rated 50/75!! He'll start right away. Levi Brown is rated 37/69 and will start right away as well Marion Dukes is rated 23/67 and will eventually start. Dallas Sartz is rated 16/48. Definitely some potential. Melvin Bryant is rated 23/51. Not bad at all for a 7th round TE. Brandon Hancock is rated 32/68 and could force a trade of my Mungro by next year. Sam Kellar is only rated 7/41. Overall, I'm quite happy. Hopefully, they don't fall off the table in the future... Finally a look at some of the other first round picks according to my scout: According to my scout (then again, he is bad at QB's): Quinn is rated 17/52. Troy Smith is 22/53. Adrian Peterson is rated 59/70. Daymeion Hughes is 45/72 at CB. That rounds out the top 5. The other T I was considering: Joe Thomas is rated 37/64. The other top WR's: Steve Breaston from Michigan 48/75. Calvin Johnson 34/54. If I can keep Stallworth happy as well as Reggie Brown, I'm going to have a very dangerous 4 WR set.

Releases:
Thomas Tapeh Jason Avant - Bloom has better Special Teams skills. Feeley will go once I sign a better veteran QB to backup McNabb. Nick Howard - I wasn't planning on getting a very good T in FA and two more in the draft. Howard will have to go. DT LaJuan Ramsey - Just doesn't have enough potential to stick around. It looks like Willie can't slide to LT as well as I thought he could. So, Levi will slide to LT and become the immediate starter there. I have a glut of T's but will keep William Thomas since he is a mentor. Winston Justice could still develop into a good T as well.. Dawkins is mad about being Tagged and wants a new deal and is holding out. He actually wants a very modest 6 million over 2 years (less than the tag) so I offer him what he wants. In post FA, I sign Kelly Herndon a good CB who will immediately become our Nickel back to a 1 year 1 million dollar deal. We also sign Marcel Shipp to a minimum deal to be a backup RB. We also sign S Dexter Jackson to be a back-up safety for a minimal deal. Finally, we sign Jay Fielder to a 3 year 4.7 million dollar deal to be a veteran backup until our rookie develops. That means we release Feeley. Wow. Feeley cost 3 million against the cap! Glad I released him. Keller signs a 3 year deal for 2.24 million. Ginn signs a 5 year deal for just under 25 million. |

Post Training Camp Ratings Changes (just by memory)
Shipp dropped from 40/40 to 31/31. Hancock has dropped in future from 68 to 60. Still 32/60 looks good. Melvin Bryant has dropped to 24/46. Ted Ginn, Jr. has dropped slightly to 50/73 (instead of 75.) Right now, his avoid drops is low, but has potential of 66. Everything else is mostly 90's for potential (except endurance and special teams.) Hank Baskett dropped a bit and is now 56/57. Reggie Brown dropped to 44/49. Stallworth remains 46/46. Herremans drops to 38/53. William Thomas drops to 28/28 at LT making me very glad I got Levi in the draft. Levi is now 36/68 at LT. Willie Anderson actually went up slightly! 77/77 Runyan went down to 49/49 and is still out for over a year. Marion Dukes dropped to 25/58 at RT. Brandon Fields dropped slightly to 68/68. Kearse dropped to 63/63 and seems unlikely he will be productive for the 5 years remaining on his contract (but should have another year or two of good production.) Cole has bloomed to 44/54. Bunkley has raised to 62/70. Trotter dropped slightly to 74/74. Dhani Jones lost a few points and is 54/54. Dallas Sartz lost 6 points of future and is now 17/42. Sheldon Brown lost quite a few points and is down to 57/57. Sheppard lost even more and drops to 50/50. Dawkins lost 8 points and drops to 61/61 while Sean Considine has bloomed and is 48/65. Considine is set to become the starter by next year at FS. We are still 11 million under the cap this year. Next year we have most of our cap used up. The only players who will possibly need an extension this year: LJ Smith. All of the other guys who only have 1 year left are either 1 year signees or are guys I probably won't renew: Buckhalter, Joselio Hanson who isn't developing that much despite playing a lot of Nickel back last year and that is it. |

I'm doing the Pre-season the same way as last year. Will just give highlights and injury details in this game. The rust factor will have me starting all of my starters, but the Veterans will play minimal time.
I'm also using my completely revamped offense to get more 3 and 4 WR sets on the field. I'll expect the Rookie to struggle with it, but I want McNabb to start practicing it now.. We lost our first pre-season game against Denver, despite McNabb playing most of the game. However, Ginn had 8 catches for 105 yards and 3 TD's!!! WOW! Keller was 4 of 7 for 17 yards. McNabb was 20 of 24 for 255 yards with 3 TD's 0 INT's Troy Smith played most of the game and did well against my 2nd defense. 20 of 37 for 305 yards with a TD and a INT. Tatum Bell had 2 TD's. The bad news is Moats suffered a severe head injury and is probably done. Also Sheldon Brown broke his clavicle and will miss 6-8 weeks. Also, McCoy suffered a knee injury that will keep him out of the rest of the pre-season. We sign David Barrett, a 8th year veteran CB to add a little depth to the team. Our 2nd game, we lose to the Jets 33-6. McNabb only played the first quarter and a half. He was 14 of 18 for 112 yards. Ginn had 5 catches for 48 yards. Buckhalter had 60 yards on 15 carries. Kellar was 11 of 20 for 70 yards with an INT. Levi gave up a sack on Kellar. |

McNabb hardly played in our 34-9 win over Oakland. Kellar was 17 of 27 for 122 yards with a TD and an INT.
Ginn had 5 catches for 34 yards. Our last preason game we are beat by Miami 38-13. Lee Suggs had over 120 yards on 15 carries against us. Kellar was 17 of 38 and threw 4 picks which gave them some easy scores. McNabb was 8 of 8 for 64 yards. Ginn had 7 catches for 39 yards. Despite the losses, I'm thrilled with how Ginn did and I like what our offense did. Ginn is now rated 56/73 after the time he got in the pre-season. |

Our first game is at the Giants.
Tiki looks like he is declining. Plaxico is also declining quite a bit. Sam Madison is their only really good CB and this could be a big day for our 4 WR set if we can buy McNabb time. Of course, they should do well in the air with Sheldon still out. |

Madison is on Ginn and they are double teaming him early. It's working to shut him down early.
They get on the board early. 3-0. Very nice drive, but our defense held in the red zone. They stop us on our next drive. We get the ball back at the end of the 1st, it is 3.0 McNabb connects with Ginn on a 14 yard pass on our first play of this drive. McNabb throws a pick on a pass intended for Ginn. They get good field position. However, a quick blitz and sack forces them into 2nd and 15. We force a 3 and out. Willie Anderson gets a minor injury on our next drive. McNabb to Ginn for 17 yards on our next play Sheesh. we pinned them on their 3.. they hit Sinorce Moss for a 97 yard TD pass on their first play. 10-0. Ginn converts a 3rd and 20 by gaining 10 yards after the catch! Two plays later Ginn is double teamed and McNabb hits Baskett for 23 yards. Darn, McNabb forced it into double coverage towards Ginn and it was picked off. Moss catches a 34 yard pass from Eli. Long passes quickly get them inside our 10. They end the drive with a 3 yard TD pass to Shockey. 17-0. Ginn drops a deep pass on our next drive We start the 2nd half with the ball. Down 17-0. They force a 3 and out thanks to a sack. Manning throws a quick hitch that Burress turns into a big gain. Michael Lewis with a pick in the endzone ends their drive Late in the 3rd now, and we have to put together a good drive. We get to midfield, but fail to convert a 3rd and 1. Our receivers are all dropping passes. That forces us to have to punt. Their safeties are both very good and they are playing very well. Also, they applied great pressure all day. Ginn drops a 3rd down pass that would have converted it. 6 minutes left and we go for it, but fail to convert. Game over. 20-0 loss. I was planning on going to bed after this game, but can't after that loss. I was expecting a much better game. Patrick Mannelly suffered a concussion. After losing Runyan to that, I'm going to rest him the next few weeks. Week 1, 2007 played in New York, NY 66 degrees, rain, 7 mph wind

Next up we host Buffalo. McGahee had 29 carries for 80 yards and a TD in their win last week. Holdcolm completed 16 of 25 for 187 yards with a TD and an INT.
However, their pass defense was key. They had 5 picks and got constant pressure on the QB. We'll try to run it a bit more this week than last week. |

We force a 3 and out as McCoy got a big sack on their 2nd down play.
Fred Smoot intercepts McNabb's first pass and returns it 26 yards for a TD. 7-0. A Penalty negates a long pass to Brown and then he drops it the next play.. sigh. Before I know it, they are up 14-0. Ginn converts an intermediate pass into a 30 yard gain. But they sack McNabb and knock us out of FG range. 17-0 at the end of 1. Shipp fumbles and they recover to end our next drive. Sheesh, they are tearing up our defense. Long pass by Holcomb. 24-0 as they dissect my defense. I'm turning that over to my DC again. Of course, not having Sheldon in there hurts. Halftime: 24-0, we are down. Penalties are killing all of our really good plays. 34-3 loss. I'll definitely give the DC full control of that aspect of the gameplan again. I'm also bring Brown back early and hoping he doesn't get re-injured (moderate risk.) Week 2, 2007 played in Philadelphia, PA 82 degrees, fair, 9 mph wind

Next up is a game at SF. We out match them in every area except their blockers are better than our front 7.
Their rushing offense is 7th in the league. Their rushing defense is 2nd in the league. Their passing attack is 14th and their passing defense is 9th. Their turnover margin is 2nd while we are 29th. However, hopefully, we can run the ball better and use that to set up our passing. |

We are down 14-7 at the half. Alex Smith is playing very well for them.
We return the 2nd half kickoff for a TD!!!! 14-14. Howard sacks Smith and forces a fumble which we recover. Ginn drops a pass in the endzone and we end up kicking a short FG. 17-14, we lead. They have Joe Horn now, and he is hurting us in the 2nd half. They kick a long FG to tie it up 17-17 with 6 minutes left in the 3rd. Mike Anderson runs it in from the 6 to make it 24-17 SF. McNabb leads us right down the field and we end it with a 19 yard pass to Stallworth for a TD! 24-24. Nedbey hits a 49 yard FG to make it 27-24 with 5 minutes left. They force a punt and we now have to get the ball right back since only 3 minutes are left. We force a 3 and out and use timeouts to hardly let any time run off the clock. Lawrence Jackson knocked down a pass on the 1st play. McNabb overthrows the next two passes. He underthrows Ginn on 4th down and we turn it over on downs. They run out the clock and we lose 27-24. Another disappointing loss. Week 3, 2007 played in San Francisco, CA 66 degrees, fair, 6 mph wind

Yeah, Thomas looks good so far.
I was forgetting to do this the first few weeks: Kelly Holcomb of Buffalo was the offensive player of the week with 32 of 46 passing for 391 yards with 3 TD's 0 INT's. Ronnie Brown, MIA, had the most yards for a RB with 25 carries for 141 yards and a TD. Eric Moulds, Hou, had 7 catches for 182 yards and a TD. Ryan Sims, KC, was the defensive player of the week with 3 tackles, 3 assists, and 3 sacks. Our next game is hosting Minnesota and quite a few guys just recovered from minor injuries. Minnesota is 1-2. Minnesota is 19th in rushing with 113.7 YPG. They are 31st in passing with 146 YPG. Minnesota has a 0 turnover margin which is 15th. Defensively, they are allowing 123 YPG (20th), 200.3 passing YPG which is 11th, and have caused 4 turnovers. Certainly a winnable game if we take care of the ball. They have started the rookie Kyle Wright all year long. He has completed 42 of 85 passes for 438 yards with 0 TD's and 2 INT's. Hopefully, we can keep him out of the endzone.. |

Sheesh, on 3rd and 3, Wright completes his first pass to Troy Williamson for 21 yards. I think the bad chemistry between Dawkins and Lewis must be hurting our pass defense.
They have TJ Houshmandzadah now and helps them convert their next 3rd and 10 with a 12 yard reception. McCoy picks up a minor injury on their first drive. Ahh, Marshawn Lynch is their #2 back but we stop him on 3rd and 7 when they run it. We get the ball back. McNabb to Stallworth for 23 yards to convert our first 3rd and 7. Next play McNabb to Brown for a 50 yard gain! No! Offensive Holding calls it back. We've had that happen all year long. That holding call just kills our drive early. Their next drive, we force Wright to fumble it and get it back on their 28. 0-0 at the end of 1. We finish the drive with a 7 yard TD pass to Melvin Bryant, the rookie! 7-0. We force a 3 and out. I'm letting Ted Ginn return punts as he is good at it and we need a spark, but he doesn't do much this time. McNabb hits Ginn on two big passes on our next drive, but Baskett gets the TD reception from the 7 yard line. 14-0! Wright hits a few big passes. Our pass defense definitely isn't performing up to snuff regardless of who calls the plays. However, we force a punt from our 40. They miss a 34 yard FG just before the half. 14-0 at halftime. Sheesh an illegal contact against my defense bails them out of 3rd and 18. We still stop them before they get into FG range. End of 3: We are still up 14-0. Troy williamson gets hurt early in the 4th quarter. Late in the 4th and we are up 17-0 with 5 minutes left. We are now up 20-0. Game over. 23-0 win for us While I'm happy with the win, I still think the offense needs a bit of tweaking, particularly in 3rd down situations. I actually made some very substantial changes to our offensive gameplan. I think this should work well..
Also, it helps many players are now 100% including Sheldon Brown and Patrick Mannelly my C. Michael Lewis is questionable this game, so I'll start Considine and Dexter Jackson will get some time as the backup. McCoy is out and Sartz will have to start. Gocong will be the primary backup. Kelly Holcomb was the offensive player of the week with 19 of 29 passing for 256 yards 3 TD's 0 INT's. Brady had the most passing yards (390) but threw 2 picks. Jerious Norwood of Atlanta had 19 carries for 234 yards and 2 TD's! Torry Holt, STL, was the leading receiver with 10 catches for 127 yards and a TD. Kamerion Wimbley, Cle, was the defensive player of the week with 6 tackles, 3 sacks. Next up, we host Detroit. They aren't starting Brady Quinn yet (who looks like a 20/57 QB now to my scout.) Instead, Tim Rattay is starting. They are 2-2 with 112.3 rushing YPG which is 18th. They have 212 Passing YPG which is 17th. Rattay has completed 72 of 118 passes for 848 yards with 3 TD's and 1 INT. Defensively, they are only allowing 100 YPG on the ground which is 10th. They are allowing 215.3 YPG passing which is 15th. Their turnover margin is plus 4 which is 4th in the league. Let's see how the re-vamped offense works. |

Michael Bush had a nice 5 yard run on his first touch as the backup back.
Their first drive ate up over 10 minutes and ended with a Kevin Jones 2 yard TD. They just ate up 3 to 4 yards every play either via a pass or run. We go 3 and out. Not such a good showing for the offense, so far. Considine is making a lot of plays early and he helps us get the ball back early. ARG! An illegal shift eliminates a 42 yard pass to Ginn. We are down 7-0 at the end of 1. A great drive ends with a Westbrook 4 yard TD run. They kick a FG towards the end of the half to make it 10-7. An offensive holding negates a Ginn 31 yard reception that would have gotten us in FG range. Instead, we have to punt at the end of the half. Halftime: 10-7 lead for us. Trent Cole with a huge sack to end their next drive. Late in the 3rd, we put together a very good drive that ends with a 45 yard FG. 10-10. We force a 3 and out. Our next drive ends at midfield, but our punter pins them inside their 1. We force a 3 and out. Back to back False Starts push us from 3rd and 2 to 3rd and 12. That kills our drive. At least, we get them starting on their 7. We force a 3 and out. Offensive holding is a big part in stopping our next drive. We punt it to their 6. 3:20 left in the game. We have it on our 33 with 2:20 left. McNabb to Ginn for 13 yards. McNabb to Ginn for 5. McNabb scrambles for 3. McNabb to Westbrook for 12. We are now on their 34 wih 1:17 left. McNabb to Stallworth for 12. McNabb to Ginn for 14! On their 8 with 40 seconds left. Westbrook with an 8 yard TD run!!! 17-10. Rattay throws it to Aundraw Allison for 21 yards, but a holding call negates it We force 2 incomplete passes. They complete their next pass, but run out of time. 17-10 win for us. Week 5, 2007 played in Philadelphia, PA 68 degrees, fair, calm

Eli Manning was the offensive player of the week: 35 of 48 for 431 yards with 4 TD's 1 INT.
Laurence Maroney, NE, had 28 carries for 148 yards and 2 TD's. Santonio Holmes had 6 catches for 133 yards and a TD. Mathias Kiwanuka, NYG, was the defensive player of the week with 5 tackles and 3.5 sacks. McCoy is 100% and can come back now. Next up is a game at GB. GB is also 2-3. They are 30th in running with 88.2 YPG despite having Adrian Peterson. Peterson has 73 carries for 293 yards this year. They are averaging 233 YPG in the air which is 11th. Aaron Rodgers has thrown 98 of 174 for 1075 yards with 8 TD's 8 INT's. Defensively, they are allowing 124 YPG on the ground (23rd) and 218 in the air (18th.) Their turnover margin is -7 which is 31st in the league. I'm going to try to run a bit more against them, particularly behind the right side of our line which is more developed. |

Adrian Peterson gets 4 yards against us on the first play.
A pass to Peterson for 6 yards gets them a 1st. We stuff Peterson on his next run. Two incomplete passes lead to a punt. They stop us at midfield. At least we pin them inside the 10. A balanced drive which featured a big catches by Driver ends with a TD pass to Jennings. 7-0 GBY. Westbrook fumbles after catching the ball and GBY recovers. They get it on our 26. 2 plays later Rodgers to Jennings for a 13 yard TD reception. 14-0. Offensive holding negates our converting a 3rd and 2, but McNabb throws it to Brown for 12 yards to keep the drive going. We kick a short FG to make it 14-3. Omar Gaither, a good backup MLB goes down with an injury on the kickoff. Rodgers to Jennings on a 49 yard TD. Down 21-3. Reggie Brown returns the kickoff for a TD! 21-10. A little over 2 minutes left in the half. Trent Cole sacks Rodgers and forces a fumble. We recover. 52 seconds left. McNabb to Melvin for 32 yards! To Stallworth for 12 more. We fail to convert 3rd and 6 from the 8. We connect on a short FG to make it 21-13, GBY. Halftime: 21-13, GBY leads. We start with the ball. McNabb leads us right down the field ending with a 36 yard TD pass to Baskett!! 21-20. Dallas Sartz intercepts the ball on their 35. Ginn with a 20 yard play. McNabb to Baskett for a 9 yard TD pass a few plays later! 27-21. Driver catches a short little hitch and fakes out his defender and goes 51 yards for a TD. 28-27. Dhani Jones forces a fumble on their next drive and Considine recovers it. Start of the 4th: We are down 28-27 but inside the 20 and driving. They stop us at the 3 and we kick a short FG to make it 30-28. They put together a long drive which ends with an Adrian Peterson TD run. 35-30 with 6:40 left. They sack McNabb and force us to punt. 5:40 left. Deshaun Foster with a big 23 yard run to convert 3rd and 6 just kills us. Adrian Peterson with a 31 yard TD run hurts us even more. 42-30. Reggie Brown returns another kickoff for a TD!!! 42-37. We try an onside, but don't recover. They run it down to 7 seconds before punting. We get one hail mary from our 20, but the DL gets to McNabb and knocks it down as he is throwing. Game over. 42-37 win for GB. We fall to 2-4 Week 6, 2007 played in Green Bay, WI 55 degrees, fair, 1 mph wind

Hmm, I lost a post that previewed the Washington game. Not sure why it didn't post.
Anyway, here is a summary of our next game against Washington: They run the ball down our throats the first drive, but we intercept Campbell in the endzone! A holding call negates a 32 yard Westbrook run. Sheesh. End of 1: 0-0, but we are driving. Ginn drops a deep ball on 2nd and 10. A defensive offside call gives them a first after they had failed to complete a pass on 3rd and 3. They drive inside the 5, but we stop them there. They kick a short FG. 3-0. Great return on the kickoff gives us a short field! Offensive Holding kills us again. But McNabb throws it to Ginn on the next play for 40 yards! Mannelly with a minor anxle injury. McNabb to Westbrook for a 4 yard TD! 7-3. 2:20 left in the half. We force a 3 and out and get it back with 1:29 left. 2 big penalties kill any drive. But Steve Breaston fumbles the punt return! We get it inside their 25! Time forces us to just kick the short FG from the 1 with a second left. 10-3. We get the ball to start the 2nd half. Mannelly is aggravating his ankle injury in the 3rd. Michael Lewis blocks their FG attempt! Offensive Holding calls are happening way too much. We need to work on that.. McNabb to Baskett for a 11 yard TD pass to make it 17-3 at the end of the 3rd. We took over completely in the 4th for a 34-3 win. Week 7, 2007 played in Philadelphia, PA 52 degrees, rain, 3 mph wind

In our bye Week, Eli Manning was the offensive player of the week with 21 of 28 passing for 309 yards 2 TD's 0 INT's.
Tatum Bell led all backs with 19 carries for 126 yards and a TD. Matt Jones led all receivers with 10 catches for 157 yards and 3 TD's. Albert Haynesworth had 6 tackles and 3 sacks to win the defensive player of the week award. The win allows Mannelly a week of rest and he won't miss any time as the risk of reinjuring his ankle is low. Our next game is at Chicago. Chicago is 5-2. They are 23rd in rushing with 103 YPG. They are 24th in passing with 191 YPG. Defensively, they are 1st in run defense with 80.9 YPG. They are #2 in pass defense giving up only 194 YPG. They are tied for 8th in turnover margin with plus 4. Kyle Orton has completed 121 of 200 passes for 1304 yards with 7 TD's 3 INT's. |

An unsportsmanlike conduct kills our 2nd drive, no it doesn't, McNabb to Stallworth for 22 yards to convert 3rd and 20!
However, we need to cut down on penalties, and I think this team will do much better. We score first with a short FG to make it 3-0. Start of the 2nd, we are still up 3-0, but they are driving. Robert Meachem took a short pass, broke two tackles, and made it a 51 yard gain for them. But we stop them inside the 20. They kick a FG to make it 3-3. McNabb to Baskett for 31 yards is a key play in our next drive, but they stop us inside the 20. We kick a 36 yard FG. 6-3. Halftime: 6-3, we lead. Ted Ginn with a 20 yard Punt Return to get us good field position. Unfortunately, Tillman intercepts McNabb's pass in the redzone. Dhani Jones goes down with an injury on the next play. Muhsin goes down a few plays later. Late in the 3rd, they fumble a punt return and Buckhalter recovers it on their 33. End of 3: We are up 6-3 and in the redzone. They stop us on 3rd and 5 and we kick the 33 yard FG to make it 9-3. Defensive Holding has continued 2 of their drives this game including this one.. Although offensive holding against Chicago just ended this drive. We forced Desmond Clark to fumble on our 1 yard line saving a TD! Dawkins recovered it. Willie Anderson spring Westbrook for a 19 yard run to get us away from our endzone. 2:20 left. Time to run this ball. They stop us on 3rd and 1 and we punt with 2:11 left. They need to go 70 yards. We force them into 4th and 15. Kelly Herndon intercepts the desperation pass! We run out the clock. 9-3 win. Next up we host the Giants in a key game. Week 9, 2007 played in Chicago, IL 46 degrees, fair, 8 mph wind

Aaron Brooks(!?! - He is actually rated well in this game, must be the X-factor) won offensive player of the week for 16 of 21 passing for 212 yards with 4 TD's 0 INT.
Alex Smith threw for 393 yards to lead all QB's. Julius Jones had 23 carries for 183 yards. Antonio Bryant had 8 catches for 157 yards and a TD. Chris Canty, DE Dal, won defender of the week with 8 tackles, 4 assists, and 2.5 sacks. We host the 7-1 NYG. They beat us 20-0 earlier in the year. Their only loss is last week 27-24 to Minnesota. They are 31st in rushing as Tiki has really slowed down. They are only getting 88.1 YPG. However, their passing offense is 1st at 310.8 YPG. Sinorce Moss has over 750 yards already. Plaxico has 669 yards. They are both making huge plays. Tim Carter has been a very good #3 receiver. Defensively, they are only allowing 98 YPG on the ground (6th.) Their pass defense is 28th and is allowing 241 YPG. However, they are plus 2 in turnovers. They are also getting a lot of sacks and are #2 in Pass Defense Percentage. QB's are only completing 52.7% of their passes against them. We will try to run it more than last time and work on the clock. |

We get good pressure on Eli early and force a 3 and out to start the game.
No Penalties on our first drive, and we march methodically down the field. McNabb was 6 of 7 for 45 yards including a 9 yard TD pass to Reggie Brown! 7-0. We stop them early in their drive and force a punt. Their second TE Viscanthe has a 50 yard reception. We are double teaming their receivers a lot, so I expect that to happen occasionally.. We stuff Barber on 3rd and goal from the 2. They settle for a short FG. 7-3. Westbrook with a 2 yard rushing TD to end a balanced drive! 14-3. Our offensive line is really starting to make some big holes. We stuff Barber on 3rd and 1 and they have to punt. Wow. We are keeping the penalties to a minimum and we are moving the ball.. As I type that, McNabb throws a pick inside the 10. They return it to their 36. 40 seconds left in the half. We force a 3 and out. Halftime: We are up 14-3. McNabb is 18 of 22 for 154 yards at the half. Willie Anderson has the key block on a 45 yard TD run by Westbrook! 21-3. We force a 3 and out! Our double teaming of their WR's seems to be working well (done automatically by "my DC" when I hit the recommend buttons.) Wow. Penalties suddenly start and force us into a 3rd and 40. We don't convert. We are up 21-3 at the end of 3. They get a FG early in the 4th to make it 21-6. Our defense is playing it's best game this year. They go for it on their 40 with 10 minutes left and down 15. We stop them short and get a short field. That leads to a 39 yard FG. 24-6 with 8:30 left. They go for it on 4th and 3 and Considine stops Tim Carter short! Akers misses a 46 yard FG but we milked some more clock. Manning with a 44 yard pass to Moss to get inside our 20. 3 plays later Manning to Moss for a TD. 24-14 after Manning runs it in for the 2 pt conversion. 5:20 left. We run the clock down to 3:40 but go 3 and out and punt. They get it on their 34. Sheldon Brown intercepts a deep pass on our 13. They get the ball back with 2:20 left. We force them into 4th and 15. Kelly Herndon defends the pass and we get the ball on downs. We run out the clock and get the win! 24-14. Week 10, 2007 played in Philadelphia, PA 54 degrees, rain, 9 mph wind

Most people don't use x-factor for real NFL roster. Its more realistic that way.
Best time to have x-factor on is for fictional league. |

Marc Bulger was the player of the week with 22 of 27 passing for 315 yards with 4 TD's 0 INT's.
Steven Jackson had 33 carries for 175 yards. Doug Gabriel, NE, led all receivers with 10 catches for 240 yards and 3 TD's. Courtney Brown, Den, had 5 tackles and 4.5 sacks to be named the defensive player of the week. Dallas won and is now 6-3. So, the NFC East standings are: NYG 7-2 Dallas 6-3 Philly 5-4 Washington 3-6. Next up is at Dallas. NYG travel to Washington. Dallas is 6-3 behind a strong defense. They are breaking in a young QB Blaine Daniel, an undrafted QB from the original start of the league who is now a 2nd year player. He is rated 18/40 and is questionable with a thumb injury. However, he has been their starter all year. He has completed 147 of 227 passes for 1582 yards with 12 TD's and 9 INT's. Their passing attack is 29th with 177.9 YPG. Their run offense is 3rd with 134.4 YPG. Defensively, they are 3rd against the run - 93.2 YPG. Their pass defense is 14 in yardage but 6th in pass completion at 56% allowed. They have a plus 3 turnover margin which is 11th. Owens has 48 catches for 581 yards to lead the team. Their losses are 13-10 at Arizona, 14-13 at Chicago, and 40-14 to the Giants. |

Their first drive is a time consuming yard eating drive, mostly via the ground, but we finally stop them on the 1. They settle for a 18 yard FG. 3-0.
Roy Williams intercepts McNabb's pass at their own 25 to end a promising drive. Least we force a 3 and out. End of 1: 7-0, Dallas leads. Willie Anderson with a big block to free Westbrook for a 5 yard TD run at the end of a balanced drive. 7-7. Vanderjagt misses a 40 yard FG! Akers with a 33 yard FG to make it 10-3. Dallas has 1:20 to do something. Dhani Jones intercepts their pass as time expires. Halftime: We lead 10-3. Akers with a 42 yard FG to make it 13-3 after a 6 minute drive ends up short. Great punt by our punter to pin them on their 2 on our next drive. 16-3 early in the 4th as we hit another FG. 2:54 left and Dallas is still down 16-3 as we are dominating defensively against the young inexperienced QB. A late 39 yard FG by us makes it 19-3. Wow. I understand that our O-Line is coming together and that is helping our offense. The only thing I can think of for our defense is better gameplans and that the minor injuries were really hampering our defenders. Game over. 19-3 win for us Unfortunately, the Giants are crushing the Redskins 30-7 late in the 4th. Week 11, 2007 played in Dallas, TX 44 degrees, fair, 10 mph wind

Forgot to preview the game, but now we host Miami. Hoping to run the ball well and control the clock again:
Wow. We start off with McNabb going 5 for 5 for 54 yards and a TD. 25 yard pass to Reggie Brown in which he got 20 of the yards after the catch ends the drive with a TD. 7-0. After 2 drives, McNabb is 9 of 9 for 96 yards with 2 TD's. 2nd one was a 14 yarder to Stallworth. 14-0 over Miami with 2 minutes left in the 1st. Kearse with a huge sack on their next drive to end it quickly. McNabb's 12th pass is his first incomplete. McNabb breaks 2 tackles on his next play for a 11 yard scramble. Crud. Reggie Brown goes down with an injury on the next play. 14-0 lead at the half for us. McNabb is 15 of 20 for 155 yards with 2 TD's 0 INT's at the half. Akers with a 51 yard FG to make it 17-0. We make it 20-0 early in the 4th. Only 3 penalties is allowing us to move it well. We've held Culpepper to 67 yards all game midway through the 4th. They bring Bubba Kido into the game. Akers hits a 57 yard FG to make it 23-0 late in the game. Dawkins intercepts the young QB on their next drive. Game over. 23-0 win for us. Omar Gaither is 100% now and will return as our backup MLB. Bunkley is also now 100%. Reggie Brown pulled his groin and will miss at least 1 week.
We force a 3 and out on their first drive. Westbrook with a 1 yard TD run to end our first drive. 7-0. McNabb was 6 of 7 for 65 yards. We force a 3 and out on their next play. 7-3 on a FG. We respond with a drive that ends in a 51 yard FG. 10-3. We hold them to a 3 and out on the next drive. A missed 54 yard FG gives them a short field. We are up 10-3 at the half. Ginn with a big punt return late in the 3rd to start us on their 46. Big run by Westbrook. Big pass to Bloom. Sack to push back from the 4 to the 8 We fail to convert on 2nd and 3rd and end up kicking a short FG. 13-3. 13 minutes left. 13-6 on an ATL FG with 8 minutes left. We put together an 8 minute drive of 3 or 4 yard play after 3 or 4 yard play. It kills the clock with us inside the 20 and driving. Game over. 13-6 win. I've just switched to 6.0C (below stats were simmed with 6.0b still):
Carson Palmer was the player of the week with 24 of 30 passing for 359 yards with 3 TD's 0 INT's. Clinton Portis led all backs with 23 carries for 131 yards and a TD. Chad Johnson had 13 catches for 243 yards and 2 TD's. Julius Peppers, DE Car, had 4 tackles and 4 sacks to win defender of the week. Next up we travel to play the Jets. The Jets are 8-4 thanks to a strong running game from Kevin Barlow. He has 283 carries for 1180 yards with 10 TD's and only 2 fumbles. Thanks in part to him, the running game is 10th in the league with an average of 121.3 YPG. Pennington has 11 fumbles and has 14 Interceptions vs 8 TD's which makes their record surprising. He has completed 222 of 366 passes for 2569 yards. The passing game is 19th in yardage and if he could cut down the turnovers, they would be much more dangerous. Defensively, their run defense is 22nd with 115.9 YPG allowed. They are giving up 228.2 YPG through the air which is 23rd. Their turnover margin is -2. Looking at the stats, I'm quite surprised they are 8-4. They look more like a .500 or worse team. |

We get to start off on our 40 thanks to a bad kick.
McNabb with a big scramble on 3rd and 3 to convert a 1st. McNabb to the rookie Melvin Bryant for a TD!!! 7 yard play to end the drive. 7-0 lead. We stop Barlow on 3rd and 1 to force a punt. McNabb with a 6 yard scramble on 3rd and 6 to make a 1st. 7-0 with us driving inside the red zone at the end of 1. A holding call negates a TD run by Westbrook and McNabb is sacked the next play to force us to settle for a 35 yard FG. 10-0. On 3rd and 10, Kearse sacks Pennington forces the ball loose and recovers it and runs it in the endzone! TD! 17-0. Late in the half, McNabb throws a pick near midfield. They have 2 minutes to move the ball. Pennington to Gage for 23 yards. Howard forces a Pennington fumble with a sack, but they recover. They settle for a long FG. Our defense is hardly giving up any yardage today. Halftime: 17-3 lead for us. McNabb is 16 of 20 for 108 yards with a TD and an INT at the half. Ginn drops a deep pass that probably would have been a TD. Pennington to Gage for a 28 yard TD to make it 17-10. 4th Quarter: 17-10 we lead, Jets driving towards midfield. Michael Lewis with a pick at midfield. Defensive battle for the next few minutes. The Jets start on their 33 with 2:20 to go in the game. Defensive delay of game gives them a 1st, and next play they connect with Gage of a 46 yard pass. We force incompletions on the next 4 plays and get the ball on downs. We run out the clock. 17-10 win for us. Week 14, 2007 played in New Jersey, NJ 32 degrees, fair, calm

We stop them on their first drive, but a fumble and Dallas recovery gets them going again quickly.
2 penalties in a row push them out of FG position. Midway through the 1st, both defenses are dominating. Trotter with a sack and he forces a Blaine fumble. Bunkley recovers it! We are on their 17. Big break in a defensive battle. We end the short drive with a 2 yard Westbrook TD run! 7-0. Dallas Sartz with a big sack for us on their next drive, followed by a Bunkley sack that causes a fumble, but Blaine gets it back. They run and convert a 3rd and 24 with a 24 yard run! Trotter forces their HB to fumble a bit later and we recover. We get it at midfield. Defenses resume taking over and we have to punt. 7-0 at the half, we lead. Both defenses are playing great. It's going to come down to mistakes. McNabb to Baskett on a deep pass for 35 yards! McNabb to Baskett for 12 more to get us inside their 10. A penalty pushes back to the 21. We settle for a 38 yard FG. 10-0. Edward Perez, their young running back with another big run of 20 yards (he converted the 3rd and 24.) Barber with a 21 yard reception. But, Dhani Jones with a big sack kills their drive. Westbrook with some great runs to get us inside their 10 on the next drive. Westbrook for a 7 yard TD run by big Willie Anderson! 17-0. End of 3: We are up 17-0 with Dallas driving into our zone. They bring Preston Hastings into the game. He helps get them inside the 20, but Patterson and Bunkley have back to back sacks. Vanderjagt misses a 53 yard FG. A long pass interference gets us great field position, but we settle for a short FG. 20-0 with 9:06 left. Hastings with 3 incomplete passes. They go for it on 4th and 10. We force an incompletion. Another short FG to make it 23-0 with 5:28 left. Owens drops a 3rd down pass that would have been a 1st. He catches the 4th and 10 pass for 14 yards. We stop them on 4th and 10. Furthermore, Terrell Owens suffers a "very severe hamstring injury" on the play. We get the ball on downs. After getting the ball back, Hastings throws a 44 yard completion to Glenn. Herndon intercepts it in the redzone as time is running out to end the game. 23-0 win for us. Early report is that TO is out for the year with a severe hamstring injury. Week 15, 2007 played in Philadelphia, PA 56 degrees, fair, 5 mph wind

The Giants won their game.
Their remaining games are at Buffalo and hosting Dallas. Minnesota and Chicago both advanced to 8-6. New Orleans dropped to 9-5 while Carolina is now 7-7. We are in the drivers seat for the wild card if we don't win the divison. St. Lous won and is now 10-4 while SF is now 9-5 due to a loss. Reggie Brown is now 100%. He has dropped to a 46/46 in the eyes of our scout, and doesn't look like a very good receiver, but he does look good at going deep. Still, he is a quality #3 or #4. Ginn is now a 73/73 receiver but he still needs to gain experience at the position. Hopefully, once he does that, he will become an elite receiver. So, far in his rookie year, he has 49 catches for 503 yards with 0 TD's. Carson Palmer won Offensive Player of the Week with 28 of 38 passing for 338 yards with 3 TD's 0 INT's. Tom Mullen, ATL, had 33 carries for 158 yards and a TD. Dwayne Jarrett, Ind, led all receivers with 5 catches for 138 yards and a TD. Justin Smith, DE Cin, had 4 tackles and 2.5 sacks to win the defensive player of the week award. Next up, we host New England. They are 8-6. They are 19th in running with 110.7 YPG primarily via Laurence Maroney. He has 242 carries for 1182 yards and 4 TD's. Their passing game is 3rd in yardage with 273.6 YPG. Brady has completed 292 of 446 passes for 3749 yards with 27 TD's and 7 INT's. However, they are 29th in turnover Margin despite Brady only throwing 7 INT's. Defensively, they are 19th against the run and 4th against the pass. |

Ginn takes a short pass, avoids a player and goes 18 yards but Willie Anderson goes down with an injury!
2 penalties picks us up a quick 20 yards. Westbrook takes a screen pass 10 yards for a TD after evading two tacklers. 7-0 lead! Bunkley with a big sack on 3rd down to force a 3 and out. Shawn Andrews created a huge hole, but Westbrook was the one who managed to dodge two tacklers on a 31 yard TD run! 14-0. Brady with 2 quick passes get them inside our 35. Maroney with a few big runs to get them inside the 20. Brady to Gabriel for a 16 yard TD pass. 14-7, we lead. Marion Dukes playing in pace of the injured Willie Anderson opens a big hole which Westbrook runs through for 17 yards! Akers with a 50 yard FG to make it 17-7 at the end of 1. Brady hits Reche Caldwell for 27 yards on the first play of their next drive. Bunkley sacks Brady and forces a fumble, but they recover. Still, that forces a 4th down and they punt. McNabb had 8 of 8 passing before he throws his first incomplete on this drive. Myron Poston goes down on the play. Ginn catches a short hitch, fakes out two defenders, and goes 25 yards! Ginn fumbles inside their 20 and Harrison recovers it. Brady is shreding our defense to get them quickly to our 40. However, Gabriel drops a 3rd down pass and they have to punt. McNabb throws a pick from his own 3 and Asante returns it 15 yards for a TD. 17-14. 17-14 at the half, we lead. The Giants are beating Buffalo 17-7. We force a 3 and out to start the 2nd half. Ellis Hobbs goes down for NE as we put together a very methodical time consuming drive. Unfortunately, Ginn fumbled it on their 9 after making a good move. They recover. They drive most of the way down the field but we finally stop them. They miss a 45 yard FG attempt. End of 3: We are up 17-14. A holding call negates our completion of a 3rd and 10 play. As a reuslt, we punt, but they fumble the punt return. We recover! Stallworth drops a 3rd down pass and we have to settle for a FG. 20-14 with 9:43 left. Darren Howard with a big sack on 3rd and 10 to force a punt. Westbrook with a 34 yard run to get us to their 25 as we are trying to run out the clock. Westbrook with another big 11 yard run to get us inside the 10. Westbrook running all over them now. We get to their 2, but time is almost out and McNabb just takes a knee. We win 20-14. Edgerrin James was the offensive player of the week with 34 carries for 227 yards and 3 TD's in an Arizona win.
Ben Roethlisberger led all QB's with 19 of 29 passing for 340 yards and 2 TD's 0 INT's. Tom Mullen of Atlanta had 31 carries for 200 yards and 2 TD's. Chad Johnson led all receivers with 13 catches for 195 yards with 3 TD's. Marques Douglas, DE SF, was the defender of the year with 8 tackles and 4 sacks. Willie Anderson is doubtful and I'll sit him due to a strained Patellar Tendon. Marion Dukes isn't really ready yet, but he will get his first start this week. Our final game of the year is at Washington. They are 6th in rushing yardage thanks to Clinton Portis who has 337 carries for 1315 yards with 9 TD's. Duckett has added over 500 yards. They are 25th in passing yardage with Jason Campbell starting all year. He has completed 254 of 414 passes for 2828 yards with 15 TD's and 14 INT's. They are 23rd in rush defense and 11th in pass defense. They are 23rd in turnover margin. |

Campbell to Thrash for 17 yards to convert 3rd and 10.
I never thought I'd be rooting for Dallas, but I need them to beat the Giants. Campbell to Thrash for 32 yards to get inside our 20. Kearse with a sack and forced fumble. Howard recovers it! Ginn drops a long bomb that would have been a TD. Baskett drops a 3rd down pass 2 plays later. Akers connects on a 52 yard FG! 3-0. They've signed Mike Williams from the Lions and he drops the 1st pass of this drive. We force a 4th and 2. They go for it early on their own 36. Duckett runs it for 3. Dawkins interceps iat the 50 and returns it to their 29! Dallas and the Giants are still scoreless. McNabb scrambles for 5 to convert a 3rd and 5. Start of 2nd: 3-0 lead. Shawn Springs intercepts it in the endzone. Breaston with a 21 yard reception from Campbell. Dawkins picks up a minor injury. We stop them inside the 20. Patterson blocks the FG attempt! Bunkley with a big sack to end their next drive. We get the ball back on our 17 with 2:41 left in the half. The Giants are up 14-0 over Dallas with 3 minutes left in the half. Kelly Herndon goes down with an injury late in the 1st half. Costly injury as he has been a great nickel back for us. Halftime: We are up 3-0. We stop them on their next drive just inside the 25, but they connect on a 41 yard FG. 3-3. Dallas is still down, now 14-3. The Giants score another TD to make it 21-3 midway through the 3rd. Meanwhile, we are in a defensive battle. Start of the 4th: 3-3, we are driving inside their 40. McNabb to Baskett for a 39 yard TD!!! 10-3. Unfortunately, the Giants make it 24-3. It looks like they are winning the East and getting the bye. Ginn with a 28 yard punt return to get to midfield. Akers makes a 50 yard FG to make it 13-3 with 10 minutes left. It's now in the 4th quarter in the Giants game, and they are up 24-3. Campbell throws a short pass and two guys miss Thrash and he goes 76 yards for a TD! 13-10. Another FG makes it 16-10, we lead. 1:55 left. We force them into 4th and 1 on their 24. They convert it, but time is running low. 1:01 left. Campbell to Mike Williams for a 44 yard reception. Campbell to Portis for a 28 yard reception. They are inside the 10. Campbell to Portis for a TD. 17-16 with 21 seconds left. Reggie Brown returns the kickoff 72 yards! We immediately go for the FG... they block it! Washington wins 17-16. The Giants are up on the Cowboys 24-3 with 2 minutes left, so it wouldn't have mattered. Either way, we are a Wildcard team.
