I think the whole I am a villager thing started after we had a run of games with a soothsayer role.

Gladly.

Yes, a soothsayer role led to it for a while, but I think I'm able to differentiate between when it's said for those purposes, and when people are trying to use it as an argument. Plus we haven't had a soothsayer in a long time.

I think I have purposely not checked into a game saying "I'm a villager" yet ever (if I did, it was likely 2-3 years ago)... I always hated that very thing and felt it was too "gamey" so even as a villager never checked in that way. I actually am suprised that I never got any heat ever in a game about that (considering some games people specifically looked for who checked in without saying that)

I've personally probably said "Villager Checking In" a couple times, and I believe I didn't chalk up points for people for that -- when I've said it, I've just meant it as a way to let people know I'm around, even though I didn't have anything to say. Although that probably hasn't happened as much lately.
