Quick question, how are the teams going to be initial populated? With the league being fast paced, I assume we won't have a lengthy draft.

Correct, it will be one quick initial allotment that is handled by the AI to evenly split out the teams. What usually ends up happening is a few teams end up with solid older veterans that can make an initial title run, while other teams end up with more on the prospect side.

In the past we've found that it only takes a few years for the league to end up on its head so no huge reason to extend it longer.

As for a timeline on when we are starting, I am planning on doing something like this:

I assume the game will be reeased for pre-orders some point today, tomorrow or Friday. That means everyone who has bought the game should have it by next Monday. We'll take next week to let everyone get used to the game, ask any questions they may have regarding new features and we'll finalize any changes that there might be from the current FOOL rulebook. (For people new to FOOL-X, feel free to look through the current FOOL rule book, even though it is for the OOTP9 league, the format and rules will mostly be the same other than what I noted in the first post of this thread).

In addition to finalizing the rules, I'll get information from everyone regarding what team location, team name and ballpark you wish to play with (Don't give me that info yet or I'll lose it). I'll plan on having a league file out to everyone that weekend and we'll start up on Wednesday June 17th at 5am ET with Free Agency Day2/Spring Training phase of 1961. (Barring any unforeseen issues or delays).

Just a note, there are several members here who either are first time OOTP owners or haven't played OOTP in some time. This is a perfect league for someone to learn as they go since the seasons turn around so quickly, you can make mistakes and they will only hurt you for a week or two. If anyone that is new has any questions or looking for pointers, feel free to ask. There are several people in the league or around the forums that are more than happy to give advice or give their thoughts on strategies.

Anyone thought of their team location and nickname. I've been thinking about a few but I can't imagine Montreal_GM postings about his team, El Paso Salsa. Is it possible to change my screen name or should I just create a new one?

I know on limited occasions people have been allowed to change screen names in order to make it their real name instead or such. I'm not sure exactly what the policy or how likely it is to occur though. I can find out if you want me to try. Can't promise anything though.

We can choose our locations? Does size matter? I'd love to be the Grand Rapids Calders, but if that's too small, no big deal.

You can pick your location and team mascot/name. Size of the city doesn't matter, all financials are fairly neutralized so size of city won't impact much. It helps everyone have fun with it more since this is a fictional league anyways.

Alan, have you thought about maybe bringing back the Vulture league to go with FOOLX? I always loved that, heck it's what probably set me in the original FOOL, getting that stud pitcher one year.

I haven't done much testing at all with feeder leagues in ootpx and the impact it has on draft classes, overall talent inflation and league modifiers. I think that would be a requirement before I considered it to make sure it doesn't blow anything up. I'm not saying that I'm against it, but my impression was that most people were happier once it stopped because of some of the problems it caused. I definitely liked having the effect of them (similar to how the japanese league is for MLB) if it can be done in a way that doesn't break other things.

Out of curiosity, is there anyone who hasn't gotten their game yet? Anyone here not pre-order and are having to wait until tomorrow to get it?

Please post your team names and such in this thread:

FOOL-X: Team Name/Location/Stadium Thread - Front Office Football Central

No huge rush on it, but I need this information before I can get a file out. So I'd like to set a deadline of having this from all owners by next Wednesday if possible. If anyone has questions about what I am looking for, please feel free to ask!

One other thing for new owners, I am usually almost always available via AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo messenger if you want me to add you to my list drop me a PM with your screen name. If I don't have you on my lists, I have it set that I can't receive messages from you.

I've had a few additional people express interest in joining this league either on these forums or other places I advertise, to the point where I considered increasing to 16 teams if I felt that the additional owners would be stable enough to not force us to do contraction down the road. Since absolutely none of those people that I contacted actually responded to my message, I'm going to go ahead and lock us in at 12 teams.

Anyone else interested in joining or knowing more about us are free to contact me and I'll be happy to answer questions, but for now I'll have to add them to the waiting list.

I need to know for each team if they would prefer to play in a DH league, a non-DH league or they don't care. You can just post in this thread, or drop me a PM, either way is fine.

I can't promise that everyone will get the league they wish (depends on how many sign up for each), but I'll know more once I hear from everyone.

Edit-Removed. Nothing rude I just said something about being in the same division as Stelmack again but I confusedly thought he owned BAL in the FOWL when in reality he hasn't had a team there in like 4 seasons.

Funny you should ask! I've been working the last 2 days on getting the league modifiers all the way we want and actually spent half of my day when I should be working on getting the file created.

I actually have the file up and ready, but am in the middle of testing to make sure the download and everything for it works. Expect something posted in the next hour or so.
