League MVP – QB Tony Rhem

All-Pro First Team –

QB Tony Rhem

All-Pro Second Team

LB Jeremy Burkley

In Rhem we trust! From Offensive Rookie of the Year to league MVP in one year. Nice!

Like I said, this team will go as far as Rhem will take us, and right now? That’s pretty high!

Defense

Here’s my defensive stats. Thomason again leading my tackles and Burkley has a lot more than last year. 118 is 7th most in the league. Burkley notched 6 sacks a solid number, and LB Adam led my team with 8.5. DE Sawyer’s 5.5 sacks, 2 blocks, 21 hurries and 6 QBKD were solid numbers. He was 9th in hurries in the league.

Burkley led our team with 5 FF, which also led the league again. Dude has a nose for the ball.

Pass Coverage

Stone only had 5 picks this year, but the dude is a 44/44 guy so that’s fine. He also led in pasdef. Our picks were down. Thomason only had 2 picks and 10 pasdef.

Team Awards

Offensive Player of the Year – QB Tony Rhem – He led the league in many metrics, and won MVP. How could anyone else get this?

Defensive Player of the Year – LB Jeremy Burkley – He was 2nd with tackles, 2nd with sacks, 3rd in pasdef with 9, and had a solid year for us overall.

Special Teams of the Year – K Randall Rabbitt – He has the best PAT % in the league over the last two years, and has done a great job for us kicking that FG.

Rookie of the Year – WR Kirk Barber – He noticed 7 scores and 1000+ yards in his first season and helped to spark a nice offense. Now we’ll need him to help us more next year now that he’s fully developed. Hopefully he won’t fall.

Heart Award – CB Alonzo Stone – Stone, at 44/44, does not start for me but is my primary nickelback option. He has led my team in picks and pasdef this year from that role, and how could I give this to anyone else?

I end the season

I score an 82

The 2023 NFL Offseason

I move to retain my staff. I offer to keep all of my staff. I cannot let them go after that year.

We are drafting 2nd

I don’t change my head coach even though a better one is available

There are two better OCs. But nope

No DC has ever been better than Joe Judge and not this year either

I skip picking up an AC or SC

No one poached my staff

I head to FA

2023 FA Period #1

I have 42 players under contract.

I make offers to all of my RFAs.

Now I need upgrades at these spots:

FS
WLB
TE
OT
CB

And studs only –

RB
OG

These I need some serious talent. If I can upgrade them I’ll be happy.

So now I am looking for BAP. We pick back at 1.29 so we need to target falling talent which means we’ll be grabbing BAPs. Our best player will typically be one of three things

1. A heavy talent like NT Fontaine last year that fell when that position was deep
2. Someone in the 60s rather than the 80s.
3. A position that’s not pursued much, like C or FB

And that’s pretty much it. Now I am set with great guys in their 70s at OC and OG, and Vaughn is pretty solid with a 46/58 upper window, but we can go over my current OT and OG if they fall to us.

I interview the top five safeties on the board. I may have to make a reach, this is not that deep. I interview a few OGs, and four CBs

OC Fox is demanding a trade and won’t sign with us

I have a roster now of 52

I skip FA

The 2023 NFL Amateur Draft

Jacksonville gets lucky. There is a stud QB in the draft that looks better than Rhem and they grab him at the 1.1 spot. QB Arnold Cote.

I resume and our pick arrives. Who is left for us at 1.29?

ILB Junior Gilliam and I could move him to WLB. He is BAP.
OG Cory Kinzie- Very underrated
OG Gavin Curry, Underrated
TE Max Lempke
SS Lukas Ford, very overrated (no thanks)
FB Josiah Derr and move to TE
CB Josiah Sanders, overrated
FS Tony Tirman, hard ot read – best FS in the draft but weak bars
RB Turner Wallace – only one RB has gone off the board
OG Montgomery has better bars but no interview
CB Frisch, the best one on the board

So it looks like OG or S.

My current WLB is ADAM who’s 57/57 and not bad. Is Gilliam that much better? SILB Sutton is 61/61, WILB Raynor is 34/71, and SLB Burkley is 69/69. I don’t wanna invest a 1st rounder in a guy who might wind up as a backup.

I wanna do OG or ILB as those are my most open spot and FS Tirman is too much of a reach at this spot

Hmmm….

I grab Gilliam, I’ll move him to WLB. He’s the BAP.

2.29 is here

I take FB Derr. I also like SS Cunningham but I need a better TE.

3.29?

FS Shaun Casher the best on the board

4.29?

OT Jack Kurtz. He wasn’t invited to the combine and I like his bars.

5.29?

CB Pat Schwake. He’s also a non-invitee with solid bars

6.29?

RB Rodney King. Flyer, best RB on the board.

7.29

ILB Silas Whittington. BAP.

Rookie Lookie #1

1st Round, WLB Junior Gilliam, Louisiana, 38/72

5th Round, CB Pat Schwake, Missouri, 32/54
6th Round, RB Rodney King, Minnesota, 28/46

UFA CB Jonah Ramirez; 20/51; 24/50

Week 3 – At Phily – We lose 26-21.

Week 4 – At Tampa Bay – We lose 3-13

Week 5 – New York – We win 41-10

Rookie Lookie #3

1st Round, WLB Junior Gilliam, Louisiana, 38/72; 45/69; 47/69
2nd Round, TE Josiah Derr, Tulsa, 25/66; 31/64; 33/69
3rd Round, FS Shaun Casher, Air Force, 25/45; 30/46; 30/42

7th Round, ILB Silas Whittington, Boise State, 21/49; 26/49; 25/47

Gilliam didn’t keep dropping and Derr actually rose.

Casher fell a bit as did Kurtz. King, wow

Here are my UFAs

UFA OC Walter Kormelink, 20/54; 24/50; 23/52
UFA CB Jonah Ramirez; 20/51; 24/50; 23/45
UFA DE Joel Svitak, 28/61; 31/59; 31/59

I don’t think Ramirez is long for this team

My cuts to get to 53

RB Rodney King
TE Randall Bauer
RG Kurt Johnson
DE Marty Gaudi
CB Jonah Ramirez
WILB Justics mcGarity
MLB Howie Pelissar

I’m glad I am at a place where I can cut draftees in that year as they disappoint in cap and such. DE Marty Gaudi is my first big cut since I’ve been here. But’s he’s my 5th best DE and that cut makes sense, but if I need coverage later I might happily grab him.

Wanna see my 1.29 pick?

Here you go! This is Junior Gilliam who was the BAP at the 1.29 spot and is a solid entrant into my LB Corps. If he remains at 69 then he’d wind up better than Burkley in ability who is sitting at 64.

Wanna see my FB into a TE?

Here you go! As you can see he is a blocking force of will and not as good in the receiving game. I do need a good solid TE for a spread offense like we are running with my OC. So investing the 2.30 pick into such a good player was the right call to my mind, barring he actually develops to the level needed.

Here are all TEs in the league by potential. As you can see three rookies are in the 60s. Damian Lane was a late 1st taken before us and Jared Devine was an early 2nd and unable to be grabbed at the 2.30 spot. I’m happy with this result and, as you can see, Derr is tied for 4th best potential in the league.

DE Svitak in on the Green Page as a UFA rookie! He’s our only one on the page.

My predication this year is 12-4. We should have gotten better and we added another draft of talent. We finished the top seed in the AFC last year and I hope to do some damage this as well.

The first few years of a empty cupboard team you are in a luxury. What? You are stockpiling young talent, but you cannot keep all of the pieces. Starting next year my first draft rookie class will have their contracts up, and we can’t resign everybody. Just Rhem and Barber will be massive contracts on their own.

Football is not a game of sustaining, but one of replacement.

So this is the last year that I won’t lose players, other than Gaudi whom I cut as he was my 5th DE. I have built around my first rookie class. Now what?

I guess we’ll find out!

But I think a little bit better with more talent and experienced players. We made it to the AFC Championship last year. Can we make it to the Super Bowl this one? I hope things are lining up that way.

WLB Gilliam will start this year for me. Adam is 50/50 and he’s 45/69 so that’s the better play to my mind. TE Derr is also starting over Frie. Schwake is also being given some play time. Stone is my primary nickel back again with 14 picks in three years. That guy is nasty. I do maybe like OT Kurtz later but he needs serious dev time and won’t be starting for me.

Rookies?

Gilliam is the 3rd best LB by potential in the draft at any position. There is one at 79 and another at 70. The great 79 one was taken right before us at 1.28 by Seattle.

Kurtz is actually the best potential OT in the draft after some others fell but it was a weak OT draft.

Svitak is the 6th best DE in the rookie class by potential.

Casher however is really down the list. A lot. He’s the 11th best safety on the board. That wound up being not a great pick.

That’s Rabbitt’s first All Pro for me. Nice! He’s my best 7th round pick in this dynasty.

Stats

Offensive

Passing

Rhem, 348 of 531, 4003 yards, 28:7, 100.2 QB Rating, 24 sacks

That’s a pretty solid year. He was 6th in yards, 2nd in TDs, and top in rating.

Rushing

Mansell, 212, 830, 5 scores
Williams, 131, 553, 3 scores
Rhem, 62 of 325, 3 scores

Mansell had a down year, and Williams spelled him as well as the 3rd and 1 or 3rd and goal from the 2 style runner over Mansell.

Receiving

Barber, 76 for 1080, 8 scores
Richardson, 66 for 774, 7 scores
Zercie, 59 for 787, 5 scores
Mansell, 27 for 281, 4 TDs
Derr, 40 for 327, 2

As Richardson is my 3rd WR and most of my packages started 3 or more WRs, he had an up season although Zercie was down.

Blocking

OG Freitas, 34 KRB out of 93 KRO, 4 sacks allowed
OG Banks, 32 KRB of 90, 7 sacks allowed
C Jackson,23 KRb of 77, 1 sack allowed
OT Armstrong, 13 starts, 19 KRb of 48, 4 sacks allowed
OT Vaughn, 12 starts, 18 of 54, 3 sacks

That’s not too bad for my O Line, although I’d like more KRBs from some of them

Defense

This was a down year for Thomason’s tackling as well as Burkley, and Sutton led down at 85. This was a down year for sacks, with Stevenson leading with 9 sacks to Sawyer’s 8. 4.5 by NT Fontaine, and then a few for my LB corpse here and there. Rookie Gilliam finished with 3. Sawyer was great in hurries and finished 4th in the league. Fontaine’s 21 was 9th. Fontaine led our team with 7 FF which led the league as well. Thomason’s 5 FF was tied for 2nd.

Pass Coverage

Thomason led our team with 5 picks, but Stone returned to normal with 1. This was a down year for picks, Burkley led our team in pasdef with 13.

Offensive Player of the Year – OG Terry Freitas – This was his highest year of KRB and he has a 7 KRB game. Nicely done.

Defensive Player of the Year – NT Kyle Fontaine- He was 3rd in sacks, 2nd in hurries, 1st in blocked passed and QB knockdowns and FF. He was a disruptive force on the line and was everything we hope he’d be when we drafted him. Nice!

Special Team Player of the Year – K Randall Rabbitt – I say this at least once a year. Dude wins All Pro, dude (likely) wins his group. Rabbitt was 43 of 48, with a ton of FGs, and he had a long of 57 yards, his career long, and he was 38 of 40 on PAT, and he was a weapon.

Rookie of the Year – WLB Junior Gilliam – 3 sacks and 2 in the playoffs, and he was never out classed on defense. He finished with 5 pasdef among other things. Good job Gilliam!

Heart Award – RB Williams – He looks better now that he’s not starting than he did when he was. His YPC are up, as are his scored. Good job Williams!

I end the season…

I score an 84

The 2024 NFL Offseason

The staff draft

I make no offers unless one of our staff is poached. Are any? We draft 2nd. I’ve been surprised that DC Joe Judge hasn’t been brought in as a head coach yet as he’s that good. We make no changes

We pick 1.28.

The 2024 FA Period #1

This is big as this is the first year I don’t have just RFAs.

I have 30 players on my roster. I sign my RFAs

I cannot sign WLB Marshall Frederickson. He is unhappy due to playing time.

I am now at 35 players

I forgot to extend a bunch of players last year so we’ll be making offers this year for key players and key backups.

MLB Hitt won’t resign with me, neither will OT Morris Cottrell.

I make offers to 15 players.

I extend these players now while I’m thinking

QB Tony Rhem
OG Frietas
K Rabbitt
WR Zercie

I look at the draft. I still need a real starter at FS, as well as a stud at CB, I’d take a stud at DE, OT, a stud RB, and more. I interview some folks.

Week 2 – I sign OT Armstrong

Week 3 – I sign NT Heinlein, SLB Burkley, and OG Banks

Week 4 – I sign FL Sorrells

Week 5 – I sign RB Williams, FL Richardson, and SS Thomason.

Those are my biggest targets and starters locked in.

Week 6 – OT Cottrell signed with New England. We sign OG Nagurski, CB Cunningham.

Week 7 – We sign CB Swift and FS Flannery who is still my starter.

Week 8 – We sign QB Benton

Week 9 – We sign CB Alonzo Stone

Week 10 – We sign RB Walton

We sign all of our targets

We have 66.53 mill left in cap space

We finish the 1st FA period

The 2024 NFL Amateur Draft

I’m looking for BAPs again as we don’t have studs in most places on our team other than positions like QB, WR, or C and my LB corps and NT.

Picking at 1.1 is Tennessee and they grab RB Andre Kanervala

Our pick arrives at 1.28. Who is available?

The best non-LB player is DE Tyrell Gionfriddo

These are others of note

TE Blaine Walsh
RB Max Tweedle
OT Britt Froehlich
DE Jason Burroughs
DE Levi Monroe
RB Lester Irwin

But there is a stud still on the board. ILB Bruce Norton. He looks nasty.

I’ll show you. He’s not at a position of need but that guy is studly

It’s the position of least need. Do I go for Norton?

Here are my starting LBs

SLB Burkley, 64/64
SILB Phil Sutton, 62/62
WLB Junior Gilliam, 60/68
WILB Edward Raynor, 53/61

This guy could be my next hoss after both Burkley and Gilliam dropped. Imagine I draft him and if he winds up as a great player I could move him to SLB which is key on my 3-4 team.

My backup LBs of quality are

WLB Adam – 50/50

I do need some other LBs as Hitt and Frederickson aren’t resigning.

I can’t pass up a stud at the end of the 1st round. I take him.

2.28.

TE Austin Tito
DE Sawyer Hill
CB Griffin Strobel
OT Amir Werenka

I like them all. Hmm…. Strobel is great at covering but worthless at the picks.

I go Hill.

3.28.

Hmmm…. I’m looking but not finding anything that sells me. OT Sedrick Frimodt? I do FS Ernie Weber, good coverage but bad at the picking.

4.28

WLB Malachi Baines. I need two LBs in this draft.

5.28

Not sure. How about RB Tommy Hines?

6.28

TE Britt Hojnacki, a pass catching specialist

7.28

FS Marcus Liang, in case of a bust by Weber.

Alright!

Rookie Lookie #1

1.28, ILB Bruce Norton, Purdue, 49/84
2.28, DE Sawyer Hill, Duke, 39/71
3.28, FS Ernie Weber, Kentucky, 24/71
4.28, WLB Malachi Baines, AZ State, 35/59
5.28, RB Tommy Hines, New Mexico State, 28/35
6.28,TE Britt Hojnacki, Kentucky, 24/33
7.28, FS Marcus Liang, Arizona, 24/54

And there you are! My top three picks all look strong.

I make offers to these UFA Rookies:

OG Tyrone Hester

I offer an extension to Petherick although he’s dropped to 69/69.

Week 3 – Hester signs

OG Tyrone Hester, 14/50

DE Hill and LB Norton are on The Green Page

Here’s Norton

As you can see he’s developed well and looks like a strong LB for our SLB spot. He’s very well rounded in coverage, run d, and pressure.

Here’s my other good pick after my 2nd round DE broke. As you can see FS Weber has very good coverage and run defense numbers, but suffers at picks. A lot. That’s okay if he nets me a lot of pasdef we’ll be fine. He’s also grown and looks like a strong option for us.

There you are! DE Swayeris starting for me again with Hill’s bust. I have no one on The Green Page. QB Tony Rhem has risen to 87/87 and is now 10 more than any competition. RB Mansell is now 64/64. That makes Mansell the 11th best RB in the league. All but one of the top ten were in the 1st round and one a top 2nd and we grabbed Mansell in the 5th. That’s a nice result from that pick.

Rookie Check

DE Hill is now the 5th best DE by potential in the draft

OLB Horton is the best LB by potential in the draft. Malachi Baines is 6th best

Weber is the best S, and Liang the 3rd best by potential

RB Hines is one of the worst.

I extend TE Fyie by a year. At 50/50 he’s the 24th best TE by current ability in the league and is a valueable adjunct to Derr.

Do I extend OT Vaughn who has dropped to 58/58? He wants 27 mill over four years, and he’s a run blocking specialist. I could move to Kurtz next year barring a better option. Let’s do that. I won’t extend Vaughn right now. I want to save some cap because I have a lot of big name rookies that will be in the final year of their rookie deal next year inc. WR Barber, RB Mansell, C Jackson and NT Fontaine, and CB Willis. I doubt I’ll be able to keep all five although I really want to. All of those are vital to me and have been my best at those position groups.

I extend backup QB Weiss by a year

As of right now I’ll be losing TE Cook, RB Gaylord, CB Mungeon, and OT Vaughn. Cook is my 4th best TE, and the other two are among my worst options.

I suspect we’ll finish 12-4 this year with an easier schedule. Within one game up or down.

Stats

Offensive

Passing

QB Tony Rhem, 383 for 569, 4366 yards, 40:2, 112.1 rating, 21 sacks

This is all record numbers of Rhem in TDs, fewest picks, yards, and fewest sacks. Nicely done. He led the league in yard,s the next highest TD total was just 31, his rating dominated the league. Nicely done!

Rushing

RB Mansell, 306 for 1483, 4.85 ypc, 12 scores,
RB Williams, 91 for 359, 3 scores
QB Rhem, 83 for 387, 1 score

Mansell led the league in yards and rushing scores. This was the first year that my team felt like a team. That a 5th round draftee would do this well is something we talked about earlier and isn’t happening in the league. Good job Mansell!

Receiving

Barber, 82 for 1047, 13 scores
Zercie, 74 for 1117, 6 scores
Derr, 75 for 750, 8 scores
Richardson, 59 for 451, 3 score
Fyie, 33 for 214, 3 scores

Zercie was 3rd in yards in the league and Barber led in scores and it wasn’t close. Derr was the best receiving TE in the league and was robbed of All Pro. He was 2nd in yards and top in scores. This was his coming out season.

Blocking

C Jackson, 42 KRB out of 102 KRO, 3 sacks allowed
Banks, 36 of 99, 3 sacks allowed
Vaughn, 13 starts, 33 of 86, 2 sacks
Freitas, 12 stars, 25 of 75, 0 sacks
Armstrong, 23 of 69, 4 sacks

My best year for my O Line since I’ve been here. They road graded very nicely. Jackson was 6th in the league in KRB.

Special Teams

K Rabbitt – 34 of 39, long of 56, 50 of 50 PAT

Dude made every PAT! That’s nasty.

P Petherick – 81 punts, 46.9 avg, 29 in 20

Pretty solid but obviously quiet year given how good my team was

Defense

After moving him inside, Burkley led my team in tackles and Thomason was 2nd. WLB Gilliam led my team with 9.5 sacks, which was a solid number for the guy. Norton collected 7 in his debut year. Stevenson notched 7.5 sacks and was my best DE. DT Fontaine had another great year with loads of pressure up the middle. He also led our team with 4 FF.

Pass Coverage

This was a very light year for picks. Burkley was the only player with more than one. Thomason grabbed another 17 pasdef, and was tied for 6th in the league. In his debut Weber finished with 1 pick and 8 pasdef. Norton in his debut at SLB was 2nd on my team with 11 pasdef. I had three players with 10 inc. WLB Gilliam.

The 2025 FA Period #1

We have 47 under contract. I sign both of my RFAs to go to 49

I have leaving TE Cook, Rb Gaylord, CB Mongeon and OT Vaughn.

Here is who is in the last year of their deal of note that aren’t bad backups.

WR Kirk Barber
WR Richard Hall
TE Junior Fyie
TE Alfredo Hoffman
RB Francisco Mansell
Both backup Qbs
DE Henry Sawyer
NT Kyle Fontaine
ILB Edward Raynor
CB Grayson Willis

I cannot keep them all, but I have a few starters in here and key players like Barber, Mansell, and Fontaine. I’ll let Willis and Raynor go for sure as well as WR Hall.

I only have 40 mill under cap and we need 8 for the draft giving me 32.

Barber is my first target. He has to be.

The best WR in the league is going to be paid 73 over 4 years.

My next target is Mansell but he wants 94 mill over 5 years and I cannot do that… I could franchise him next year if I don’t have any other options.

Fontaine? 46 mill over 5 years. Done.

If Willis just wanted a small amount of cash I’d do it, but that’s too much. He wants 48 mill over 5 years. Nope!

Do I want to extend a TE? They only want 2 mill each. I do both for one extra year each.

Going into the draft I need these players

A replacement for Mansell if possible
4th backup RB
4th TE
5th WR – replace Sorrels
A prospect WR for Hall
Better OT than Kurtz if possible
A stud CB
Backup OT
Backup OG replace Nagurski who has slipped a bit
Backup NT better than Cole
Backup CB better than Nicky Swift
Better mid-round backup QB
Considering DE Hills bust I could use a stud DE as well

I need starters at RB, OT, CB, and I interview those.

Week 3 - Vaughn signs with Cleveland

Week 7 – Mongeon signs with Detroit

Week 9 – TE Cook signs with Dallas

The 2025 NFL Amateur Draft

Las Vegas drafts first and they draft at 1.1 S Dashawn Beyer

Our pick arrives at 1.32

Who is the best player on the board? OC Bubba Marsh with max stats. I could draft him and move him to OT. All of the top 6 CBs are off the board, I interviewed 2-6.

Dt Bubba Washington, 2nd best player – Could I move him to DE?
OT Earnest Marshall – Overrated
TE David Norton – None have been taken and he’s pretty good.
DE Juan Cauthen – I like him a lot.
RB Shaun Myre, 5.4, As Scouted -with a very low breakaway speed. There;s another very overrated back available
FS Ben Anderson looks great with the bars. Could I take him and move him to CB?
WR Cody Poston looks good as well
CB Leon Cochran – If you didn’t want to try and make it work. He’s more developed.

QB RJ Ellis looks good as does some others.

There are several QBs of quality still on the board

I take Anderson, Cauthen or… Poston? I like them all. Anderson/Cochran or Cauthen? I move from Poston. I can get good WRs later in the draft. I do Anderson over Cochran because he’s better at picks.

2.32

QB Ellis is still on the board.
I like LT Gabriel Flynn.
DE Carson spatz?
WILB Amari Highland?

I like Ellis a lot and he’s the BAP. But he won’t develop behind Rhem. I take Spatz. Ellis goes a few picks later.

3.32

Watch QB Caden Groff

I take WR Jalen Frohbieter. He looks like a grower

4.32

I take Groff.

5.32

TE Lionel Bergman?
Or OT Harris Gaylor?

I go Gaylor

6.32

OG Gino Tapeh

7.32

RB Norm Hawthorne

I move Anderson

Rookie Lookie #1

1.32 - RCB Ben Anderson, Alabama, 22/64
2.32 - DE Carson Spatz, Ohio State; 22/64
3.32 - WR Jalen Frohbieter, Oklahoma, 29/44
4.32 – QB Caden Groff, Augustana, 15/53
5.32 – OT Harris Gaylor, Liberty, 29/50
6.32 – OG Gino Tapeh, OK State; 18/45
7.32 – RB Norm Hawthorne, LA State, 38/53

I hope Frohbieter will grow. The QB I was following? Wound up looking like a stud.
