two "support" sites:

http://www.saveourbluths.com/
http://hoos.a-girlthing.com/

and the official word from FOX:
Quote:
Dear Arrested Development Fans:

Thank you for your e-mail and your passionate support of Arrested
Development. While the show has finished production for its second
season, contrary to the rumors you may have heard or read on the
internet, it is NOT cancelled.

We at FOX love Arrested Development and we look forward to having
the Bluth family back on FOX in the future-hopefully for many years.
You can help make the show a bigger success by getting as many
people as possible to start watching the show this Sunday and every
Sunday at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT.

Sincerely,

Fox Broadcasting Company

Woot!

Of course they may be saying it is not canceled at this moment, but is close to being such.

I hate when shows get so predictable that you can see what is coming a mile away. That said, the whole storyline about Buster having a hook for a hand had me laughing like I haven't in a long time!

it's so sad to watch this show knowing that it won't be on for long. it just has me howling with laughter. I can't say enough good things about the show - even the kid actors are great.

Seriously - what the fuck is wrong with the world when this gets cancelled in favor of Apprentice 3 or The Will ? I'm inclined to side with PT Barnum, who said that "no one ever lost money underestimating the intelligence of the American public.."

Lotta talk here about this being canceled. Can someone provide a link? From what I see, just above all this is a report that Fox is NOT cancelling the show.

That is the report, but at best it is on life support. Fox has done the same thing to a number of shows, and never brought them back.

CR, Fox cut short the season, and the actors themselves have said they don't know if it will come back - witness Bateman on SNL a few weeks ago.

Just ask the fans of Tru Calling on this (both of them ). It has never been officially cancelled, but they haven't aired episodes in a year either.

I thought it was a hilarious episode.

George, Sr. shaving Oscar's head just made me laugh my ass off!

"Pop Secret" was great too .

Lindsay: I fought for you
Tobius: Great.... I'm moving to Vegas with Kitty!

from E! online....

Quote:
We all know (and simply can't bear to tell Mary) that the fate of Arrested Development is uncertain. So, should News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch be looking for one very good reason to save this show, let it be this: If he doesn't, he will make Grandma Mary cry. You may ask (if you follow such things) why I'm singling out Murdoch instead of newly appointed Fox network president Peter Liguori. The somewhat promising answer is this: According to a reliable Fox insider, former network chief Gail Berman had a little chat with her successor before leaving for Paramount Pictures, and the widespread consensus coming out of that meeting was: "Liguori is 100 percent behind Arrested Development and unless Rupert Murdoch says, 'Over my dead body,' it will come back."

(Kinda makes you wanna piddle, no?)

"There seems to be complete support top to bottom over at Fox," Jason Bateman tells me. "And I think the only reason we haven't heard from Mr. Murdoch is that it's a little too early in the process for him to weigh in. But I can't imagine a scenario in which he would say 'No, no, no, it can't come back.' " Will Arnett (the always hilarious "Gob" Bluth) is also hopeful. "I'd be surprised if we didn't come back," he says. "I really do think we will get a third season. We've got a lot of fans right now who are superdedicated...Fox said they pulled us from the May schedule to protect the show, and we believe them."

How long are they going to wait, before making a decision about the future of the show?

the official release....

Quote:
FOX DOES MORE TIME WITH “ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT” ORDERING A FULL THIRD SEASON

FOX gets ARRESTED again. The network has ordered a third full season of the Emmy Award-winning comedy series ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, it was announced today by Peter Liguori, President, Entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company.

“ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT is one of the best comedies on television. The decision to order another season becomes easy when you consider its amazing cast, creative brilliance, critical acclaim and advertiser appeal," said Liguori. "It's my first official pick-up since taking the job, and I think it's a great way to start."

The critically acclaimed series revolves around Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman), the good son who must run the family business and continue to pick up the pieces as he keeps his offbeat family from falling apart. The comedy has featured guest appearances by numerous stars including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Liza Minnelli, Heather Graham and Ben Stiller. Last year, the show received five Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series, Writing, Directing, Casting and Editing. Additionally, Jason Bateman won a Golden Globe for Outstanding Actor in a Leading Role – Musical or Comedy Series and the show was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards for Outstanding Musical or Comedy Series. This past season, the cast was nominated for a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. The show was also named an AFI Program of the Year and received the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Comedy, among other accolades.

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT is produced by Imagine Television and 20th Century Fox Television. Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, David Nevins and Mitch Hurwitz are executive producers.

I just removed AD from my DVR list last night.

I won't pay for Showtime either, and I honestly think that a move to pay-cable will hurt the show. I've said it before (maybe even in this thread), but part of the reason the show was so entertaining was it's ability to infer things instead of saying them outright. IMO, the ability to cross the line that they had to tiptoe around before will be a negative.

I'm not buying in on the basis of one line in the gossip section of the NY Post. 26 episodes?!? Showtime series shoot half of that or less, but they're going to 26 for such an expensive show?

I'm skeptical, too. But for how much I love the show, I'll take any good news I can get...and I know others around here feel the same way.

If it doesn't happen, that sucks. But right now, let us have our moment

Bump - was watching old episodes and the finale again - still spectacular. I'm bitter every time I turn on my TV and see the likes of Two and A Half Men, Til Death and According to Jim - while AD is gone. I know Bateman has said they might be making a movie, but the track record on these isn't particularly great.

Cruel move bumping this for anything other than an announcement of a return!

Yes, it was awesome though, and remains awesome after several repeated viewings.

It goes back and forth with the British version of The Office as my favorite show.
