Wow, Montgomery beat out Chen for the Eastern Conference Rookie of the month for Feb. The MVP voting right now is predicted to go 1-2-3 to 76ers with Simmons, Chen, and Okafor all being in the running for the award.
3/3 - We travel to face the Nets who are 28-30 and fighting for a playoff spot. Paul George and his teammates end our streak at 19 wins as they beat us 122-107. Yikes. George had a huge game with 35 points, 5 boards, 5 assists, and 7 steals. Simmons had another triple double for us in the loss with 17 points, 18 boars, 14 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. Okafor with 29 points, 8 boards, and 2 blocks. Chen had a rough night with 8 points, 3 boards, 3 assists. He shot 2 of 11. After the game, Stephen Micoud meets with me yet again to let me know he wants to start.... somewhere. 3/5 - We host the Warriors who are 27-34. They have been injury plagued this year. Curry and Durant are both down with injuries. Curry broke his leg and that is why he missed the All-Star game and he still has a few more weeks of recovery time... We beat them 102-90 but McDermott suffers a leg muscle injury that will keep him out 1-3 weeks. I decide to handle that by promoting Holland to the starting PG role and asking Simmons to play SF for a few weeks. 3/6 - We travel to play the Heat. They are 24-39. We crush them 120-75. Simmons played just fine at SF with a huge night - 32 points, 15 boards, 13 assists, and 2 blocks. He shot 14 of 22 and 4 of 5 from the line. Chen also had a big night with 33 points, 13 boards, 3 assists, 5 steals, and a block. He shot 13 of 27, 4 of 7, and 3 of 5. Holland had 2 points and 10 assists in his first start at PG. 3/8 - Our next game is at the Pacers. They are 45-17 and are firmly entrenched as the #2 seed in the East behind us. I want to make a big statement with a big win against them.

Holland had a big game at PG with assists from Simmons and Chen allowing him to hit lots of 3's. But, he could not stop their PG D'Angelo Russell who abused him on the other end. When Simmons was at PG, he shut down Russell. So, I played Simmons at PG a lot more than I expected and we got a big win.
Here is a clip of some of the action (which starts at 50 second mark due to bad editing on my part): NBA 2K17_20170805214350 - Video Dailymotion We won 114-92. Here is the boxscore clip: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5w4mgs

3/11 -
We travel to Cleveland. LeBron is injured and won't play this game. He has also announced that he will retire after this season. The team is struggling at 29-36. They shock us with a big game from Kyrie and Love who help them win 94-84. Okafor with an off night shooting 10 of 25 but still finished with 24 points and 8 boards. Chen with an off night shooting as well. He shot 5 of 19, 1 of 8, and 3 of 4. He finished with 14 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals, 5 blocks, and 3 turnovers. Simmons with 12 points, 12 boards, 7 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. 3/12 - We travel to play the Knicks who are the #3 seed in the East. They have a formidable starting 5 with Mo Morgan, Guy Ingram, Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis, and C Diamond Stone (who is the weakest link.) We lose 101-98 as Ingram has 24 points and Mo Morgan has 21 points and 12 assists. Porzingas adds 20 points. Simmons had a big game with 31 points, 13 boards, 7 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block in the loss. Chen shot 5 of 22 tonight for 18 points, 3 boards, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Okafor with 8 points, 11 boards, and 4 turnovers. Rodgers, our young promising PF, had another big game with 14 points and 8 boards in only 24 minutes. We are now 57-10 and are unable to break our goal of 74 wins. Our next goal is to get to 70 wins... 3/14 - We host the Bulls who are 31-36. They beat us too! I guess all of the guys complaining about PT is finally effecting our chemistry. We lose 101-100. Chen had an efficient 32 points, 4 boards, 4 assists, and 3 steals in the loss. Simmons had a triple double with 22 points, 11 boards, 11 assists, 3 steals, and a block. Okafor with a bad night shooting 6 of 19 for 13 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, and 1 block. Rodgers with 10 points and 3 boards in 26 minutes. |

At 57-11, we still have the best record in the league and we still have the top 3 guys in the MVP voting per the experts in the order of Simmons, Chen, and Okafor. Our next game is hosting the Knicks. They have dropped to 4th in the East with a 37-29 record. We would love to drop them to 5th...
Ingram is TOASTING Chen early. We are going to try to run them out of this game, but so far the Knicks are hanging strong. Ingram with 11 points in the 1st quarter as they have a 32-29 lead at the end of 1. Chen is doing damage at the other end though with 10 points and 4 assists. We put our best defender, Bilious, on Ingram in the 2nd quarter and he doesn't make a basket. At halftime, Chen has helped lead us to a 60-53 lead. Chen with 18 points, 6 boards, 5 assists, and 2 steals at the half. Chen with a big 3rd quarter including a nice acrobatic layup around 11:04 left in the 3rd. He had a huge dunk with 7:30 or so to go in the 3rd. He had several others throughout the quarter and a bunch of nice passes. Huge quarter helped us finally take a big lead. NBA 2K17_20170807222239 - Video Dailymotion Chen finished his huge night with 40 points, 8 boards, 9 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks in only 31 minutes of action (he sat the entire 4th due to the big lead.) We travel to play the Kings. They are 31-39. Before the game, McDermott is cleared to come back. We switch Simmons back to PG and McDermott starts... We crush the Kings, 107-85. Saric with a huge game with 36 points, 9 boards, 4 assists, 2 steals, and a block in 32 minutes. He shot 13 of 21, 4 of 8, and 6 of 7. Okafor with 22 points, 10 boards, and 1 assist. Simmons with 15 points, 15 assists, 9 boards, and 1 steal. Chen with a quiet night - 14 points, 4 boards, 4 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks. He shot 7 of 12. McDermott with only 2 points in his return. He shot 1 of 5. 3/22 - We travel to play the Nuggets. They are 49-22 (1st in the West) with their team built around SG Jamal Murray (84) and C Nikola Jovic (84) and Tristan Thompson (83). They beat us 110-104 behind 25 points and 12 boards from Jokic. They also get 21 points and 10 assist from Mudiay. Chen led us with 21 pints, 5 assists, 3 boards, 4 steals, and a block. He shot 10 of 16. Simmons with a triple double - 13 points, 12 boards, 13 assists, 1 steal, and 3 blocks in the loss. We are now 59-12 and have to win every game to get to our goal of 70 wins... 3/23 - We travel to play in Portland. They are 33-38. We win 102-96. My old SG Timothe had 7 points and 6 assists against us. Chen, his replacement, had 27 points, 10 boards, 5 assists, 5 steals, and a block. He shot 9 of 24 tonight, 3 of 8, and 6 of 8 from the line. Okafor with an efficient 24 points and 10 boards on 12 of 14 shooting. Simmons with 14 points, 9 boards, 10 assists, 2 steals, and 4 blocks. 3/25 - We travel to play the Spurs. They are 32-39. We are 60-12. |

I messed up saving the clip but Chen had a HUGE 2nd quarter but the Spurs are dominating us inside and have 5 fouls on Saric already. Thanks to their interior presence, they are tied 54-54 at the half.
Chen with 20 points, 6 boards, and 2 assists at the half. I shot some video of the 3rd quarter but the definitive 4th quarter is what I will post. Chen had some big plays including the game winning shot, 100-98. Here is the clip of the decisive plays in the 4th. This clip also includes the boxscore at the end. Chen finished with 38 points, 8 boards, and 4 assists. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5x7dhc

We host the Cavs. They are 34-39. We beat them 107-104 behind 24 points and 7 boards from Okafor. Chen had 18 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, 5 steals, and a block. He shot 7 of 13. Simmons with a quiet night - 7 points, 9 boards, 7 assists. 3/29 - We host the Magic. They are 34-40. We crush them 115-75. Chen led the way with 25 points, 16 boards, 5 assists, and a block. Okafor with 20 points and 15 boards. Simmons with 17 points, 13 boards, 15 assists, 2 steals, and a block. After the game, Sharpe comes into my office and demands more minutes or a trade. A few minutes later, Micoud demands to be a starter or states he wants to be traded. Ugh. 3/31 - We travel to play the Magic in Orlando. We win 112-90. Chen led the way with 25 points, 6 boards, 7 assists, 3 steals, and a block. He shot 7 of 18, 2 of 6, and 8 of 8. Simmons with 4 points, 11 boards, 11 assists, and 3 steals. Is Simmons letting up and will that give the MVP to Chen? What about Okafor? They are still 1-2-3 although the final order is anyone's guess. Simmons is still averaging 18.9 ppg, 10.6 rpg, 9.1 apg, 2.3 spg, and 1 bpg. Chen is averaging 22.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 4.2 apg, 2.3 spg, and 0.7 bpg. Okafor is averaging 18.8 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 2.4 apg, 0.4 spg, and 1.3 bpg. Okafor is shooting the highest FG% of the 3. 4/2 - We host the Raptors who are 34-42. |

Okafor with 14 points, 12 boards, and 1 assist. Saric almost had a triple double with 12 points, 11 boards, and 9 assists. We are 68-12. I'm going to leave it to the CPU to see who has the big last few games and who closes out the MVP and to see if we can get to 70 wins... 4/9 - Our biggest challenge to 70 is this game... the Celtics. They are 43-37 and are on a winning streak since they got their stars back. We eek by them 101-98 with a huge night from Chen with 37 points, 7 boards, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. He shot 13 of 18, 4 of 6 from the 3 point line, and 7 of 13 from the line (what happened there?) Saric added 23 points, 8 boards, and 5 assists. Simmons with 7 points (3 of 12 shooting), 3 boards, 11 assists, 3 steals, and a block. Okafor with 14 points and 14 boards. Chen is closing strong... will he win the MVP? 4/12 - Our final game is hosting Paul George and the Nets. Can they stop us from our quest for 70? They are 40-41 and fighting for the 8th seed in the East.... WE beat them 109-90 and knock them out of the playoffs! Now for the big news.... the MVP voting... |

I had someone come over so I lost the MVP announcement video, although I did shoot video of the other awards... the winner is...
Ben Simmons! Chen came in 2nd and Okafor came in 3rd. Chen did win the Rookie of the Year and was on the All-NBA 3rd team! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5xbxig We host Atlanta in the 1st round. In the playoffs, except for the Finals, I've always simmed the 1st game and if that is a win, I sim each game until I lose. That gets me through the season quicker. Let's see what happens against the Hawks.

We win the first game against the Hawks, 129-92. Simmons led the way with 36 points, 13 boards, 12 assists. Okafor added 20 and 10. Chen had a shaky first playoff game with 8 points, 7 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals, and a block.
But, Stephen Micoud injured his hip and will miss the rest of the series.. Game 2 - We win 112-95. Okafor led the way with 28 points and 10 boards. But, Okafor suffered a shin splint injury. He is going to play through it. Chen had 13 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. Simmons had 14 points, 16 boards, 9 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Game 3 - The Hawks eek out a 111-109 win on their home court. Chen still in a funk with only 13 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists. Despite the injury, Okafor led us in scoring with 24 points, 9 boards, and 2 assists. Simmons with 24 points, 12 boards, 6 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks in the loss. Game 4 - I decide to sim this as well. If we lose, I will play Game 5... The Hawks surprise us with a 107-106 win. Devin Booker and Dennis Schroeder both had big games on their court. Chen finally came to play with 34 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks in the loss. Okafor with 30 points, 8 boards, and 2 assists in the loss. Simmons with 12 points, 13 boards, 7 assists, and 4 steals. Now, for the pivotal game 5. |

Game 5 saw a determined focused 76er's team that took the lead early and never gave it up. Thanks to the big lead, we rested all starters the entire 4th quarter and my backups had a big game too. Chen didn't score a lot but he set up guys and had a very nice night. Here is a highlight of some of his big plays setting guys up:
NBA 2K17_20170818215419 - Video Dailymotion Okafor was the player of the game with 20 points and 13 boards. Holland led us with 25 points and 3 assists in 20 minutes off the bench. Lucas playing because of injuries played 27 minutes and finished with 21 points, 4 boards, and 3 assists. His jump shooting at 7'3" is a sight to behold. Chen finished with 16 points, 5 boards, 8 assists, and 2 steals. Here is the boxscore: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5xet7r

I decide to sim. Oh no! Chen suffers a shoulder injury and is out! Dislocated shoulder and could miss the rest of the playoffs although he might be back in time for the finals. We also lose the game 101-88. Parker led them with 24 points and 8 boards. Simmons led us with 30 points, 16 boards, 5 assists, and 1 steal. Okafor with 29 points and 11 boards in the loss. Chen only played 4 minutes before getting hurt. Time to play Game 7. |

Game 7 -
Simmons came out with his hair on fire and led us on a 13-0 run to start the game. They fought back in the 1st half, but never got that close and we blew them out in the 2nd half. Here is the pivotal start: Bad editing on my part. The actual game starts around 2:30 of the video: NBA 2K17_20170819101000 - Video Dailymotion We blow them out and Simmons has an impressive triple double with 24 points, 13 boards, 15 assists, and 2 blocks. Sharpe's better 3 point shooting really opened things up for Simmons. Speaking of Sharpe, he came to me after the game and demands to start next year. Oh brother. He did have a nice night with 19 points, 1 board, and 1 assist. He shot 7 of 11, 2 of 4 from the arc. Here is the boxscore: Oh yeah, loved that Covington stepped up big in this game. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5xf12v

We advance to the 2nd round. The #4 seed Knicks beat the #5 seed Celtics and we will face the Knicks in the 2nd round. They scare me with their combo of Guy Ingram, Mo Morgan, Porzingis, and Anthony although Morgan has a hip injury and is questionable for game 1...
This team is probably the most talented I will face until the finals. Can we beat them without Chen? I will sim game 1 and if we win, I will keep simming. Let's see what happens... Before that though - here the other playoff series: #1 Denver vs #4 Utah #2 Phoenix vs #6 Golden State (who swept #3 Dallas) #3 Charlotte vs #7 Detroit (which upset Indiana in 6 games.) So, now to game 1: We defend home court with a big win! 116-90. Okafor led the way with 27 points, 8 boards, 7 assists, and 1 block. Covington with 20 points, 2 boards, 1 assists, and 1 steal. Maybe I can convince him to stay around another year? Saric with 21 points, 13 boards, 6 assists. Simmons with 20 points, 12 boards, 6 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. Sharpe with 15 points (on 5 of 8 from the arc) and 2 assists. McDermott has been rough this season and only had 6 points. Game 2 - The Knicks win 110-94 as Guy Ingram had a monster 40 point night and Carmelo added 22 points. Before the game, Micoud was cleared to return and he had 12 points and 14 boards in 28 minutes. Okafor had 26 points and 10 boards. Simmons with 17 points, 8 boards, 6 assists, 2 steals, and a block. McDermott shot 0 of 10. He might be let go after this season... can Sharpe play SF? Do we draft one? FA? Game 3 - I decide to take a chance and sim this as well. If we lose, I will play Games 4 and 5. Okafor has fully healed from his injury and he has a huge game in our game 3 win. 24 points, 17 boards, 3 assists, 2 blocks. Saric with 26 points, 10 boards, 4 assists. Simmons with 23 points, 10 boards, 10 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks in the win. McDermott with 2 of 4 shooting for 6 points. Sharpe with 9 points on 3 of 7 shooting. Game 4: Wow. I've never seen a CPU simmed player score so many - Guy Ingram with 58 points in an OT game.... that the Knicks lost 120-118. Ingram shot 21 of 32, 9 of 16, and 7 of 8 in the loss. Okafor led us with 33 points, 17 boards, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block. Saric with 20 points, 8 boards, 7 assists. Simmons with 15 points, 10 boards, 11 assists, and 2 steals. Covington added in 12 points. McDermott with 11 points on 5 of 8 shooting. Sharpe with 8 points on 4 of 13 shooting. Game 5 - We crush the Knicks 117-100. Saric led us with 29 points, 10 boards, 6 assists, and a block. Simmons with 26 points, 10 boards, 7 assists, and 2 steals. Rodgers with 17 points, 4 boards, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Okafor with 15 points, 8 boards, and 1 assist. We are on to the Eastern Conference Finals! How is Chen healing up? He is still expected to miss the next series. |

#1 Denver beat #4 Utah in 5. #6 Golden State beat #2 Phoenix in 7! #3 Charlotte beat #7 Detroit in 5. The Hornets don't scare me as much as the Knicks did. They are built around 2 stars: Kemba Walker and Nicolas Batum. But, we shall see. Game 1: We crush them at home 107-74. Simmons with 24 points, 13 boards, 15 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Sharpe shot 2 of 8. Okafor with 19 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, and 1 block. Micoud with 14 points and 14 boards. Covington with 12 points. Saric with 11 points, 5 boards, and 6 assists. Game 2 - The Hornets bounce back and steal 1 in Philly, 86-83. Simmons shot 7 of 21 and finished with 18 points, 11 boards, and 5 assists. Sharpe with 11 points, 8 boards, 2 steals. Covington shot a miserable 3 of 15. Okafor shot 1 of 10. Ouch. Game 3 - Oh No! Saric goes down with an MCL sprain and is done for the playoffs Oh well, Micoud was just complaing that he was not starting and now he will start with Okafor moving to PF. Despite Saric's injury, we win game 3, 107-80. Simmons with an efficient night with 20 points, 9 boards, 8 assists, and 2 steals. Rodgers with 14 points. McDermott with 5 of 7 shooting for 13 pints. Covington with 5 of 11 shooting for 12 points. Micoud with 11 points and 10 boards. Okafor with 10 points and 10 boards. Saric played 31 minutes before going down and finished with 11 points, 8 boards, and 5 assists. Game 4 - Charlotte bounces back and wins 92-88. Walker with 26 points and Batum with 20 in the win. Okafor with 27 points and 4 boards in the loss. Simmons with 22 points, 11 boards, 12 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. Covington shot 3 of 18. Sheesh. I need to give him less time. Sharpe with 6 points on 3 of 8 shooting. Micoud with 6 points and 6 boards in 30 minutes. McDermott shot 2 of 8. Game 5 - I decide to roll the dice and sim this. If we lose, I will play out games 6 and 7 and see if I can pull this series off... Also Chen is getting closer to being cleared... could he appear in game 6 if we lose this one? Simmons and Okafor came out like the MVP and MVP finalist and dominated the game 112-88. Simmons with 32 points, 12 boards, 7 assists, and 4 steals. Okafor with 28 points, 13 boards, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. Covington with 19 points on 7 of 10 shooting. Game 6 - Before the game, Chen is cleared to return!! We crush the Hornets 100-80! Chen led the way with 27 points, 13 boards, 4 assists, 1 stal. Okafor with 26 points and 8 boards. Simmons with 10 points, 5 boards, 8 assists, 2 steals. Covington with 11 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, and 1 steal. Sharpe shot 2 of 7 and then complained after the game that he is not happy that he was demoted to the bench. He is demanding to start or be traded. We are advancing to the Finals!! We will face Denver which swept the aging Golden State team. The Nuggets are focused around Sharp Shooter Jamal Murray (85), Low Post Star Nikola Jokic (84), and C Tristan Thompson (82 - rebounding focus). The best role players on the team are stretch 4 Juan Hernangomez (78) Two way PG Patrick Beverly (77) and PG Cory Joseph (78). They also have a couple of role players who can knock down the 3. Should be a fun series! I debated on starting Sharpe, but I'm going to start McDermott at SF and Chen at SG (if I started Sharpe, I would start Chen at his secondary position of SF.) |

Okafor having trouble getting out to the perimeter on their stretch 4 and Micoud picks up 2 fouls early. They are up 7-2. We bring in Sharpe at SG, Chen to SF, and McDermott to PF and Okafor to C.
It is a back and forth 1st quarter. At the end of 1, we lead 25-23. They have a nicely constructed roster and Murray can hit some bombs. When I had Chen on him, we controlled him well. But, he scored well against the smaller Sharpe. Okafor with 10 1st quarter points. Chen with a huge 2nd quarter to give us a big lead. Rodgers is also showing a lot. He is making some big baskets. Chen leads us with 14 points, 7 assists, and 3 boards at the half. Here is a clip from the first half including some great Chen plays. NBA 2K17_20170819141533 - Video Dailymotion |

We built a 30 point lead in the 3rd and pulled our starters in the 4th but they battled back and cut it to 14 with 4 minutes to go, so our starters returned and finished off the game. 109-88 win.
Chen with 31 points, 6 boards, 8 assists, 1 steal, and 3 blocks in his Finals debut. Okafor with 22 points, 16 boards, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Simmons had an off night shooting and finished with 6 points, 5 boards, 8 assists, 2 steals, and a block. McDermott with 14 points and 4 boards. He also played very good defense on their stretch 4. Rodgers with 12 points and 4 boards and solid defense against him as well. Sharpe with 10 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists. Here is the boxscore: (will edit to add.) |

I will sim with the hope that we win it. I want to play the close out game. Instead, the Nuggets win a defensive oriented game 79-75! Jokic led all of their scorers with 13 points, 13 boards, and 2 blocks. Okafor shot 5 of 17 but led us with 13 points, 11 boards, and 3 blocks. Chen shot 4 of 15 and finished with 11 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, and a block. Simmons shot 3 of 11 for 6 points, 7 boards, 10 assists, and 4 steals. Game 4 - I will sim. If we lose this, I will play game 5 and 6. The Nuggets are fighting hard in their building as they win 100-95. Murray led the with 20 points and Jokic added 19 points and 12 boards in the win. Chen had a big night for us with 25 points, 8 boards, 8 assists, 4 steals, and a block as he shot 9 of 14, 0 of 1 and 7 of 7 but it was not enough. Okafor added 25 points, 10 boards, 2 assists, and 2 blocks. He shot 11 of 18. Simmons shot 3 of 14. He had 9 points, 8 boards, 7 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. Game 5 -
It was a back and forth affair all game as the Nuggets were surprisingly tough with their bench outscoring ours by a large margin... but our big 3 of Simmons, Chen, and Okafor came up big especially down the stretch and we took the win 117-112 as we tried to run them out of the building. Chen led the team with 31 points, 9 assists, 3 boards, 3 steals. Simmons with 24 points, 6 boards, 8 assists, and 2 blocks. Okafor with 24 points, 11 boards, and 2 blocks. Micoud added 22 boards this game along with 11 points! Here is the last 7 minutes of the game and the boxscore: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5y31kg

Game 6 -
Simmons and Chen come out on fire... playing fantastic defense. There is a stretch towards the end of the 1st where we play smothering defense to build a huge lead. At one point, it was 30. At halftime, we are up 65-39. Simmons is leading the way with 14 points, 7 boards, 6 assists, and smothering defense. Chen with 13 points, 2 assists, and a steal. He shot 5 of 15. Bilous played terrific defense in 15 minutes but also chipped in 9 points, 2 boards, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Micoud with 15 boards in the 1st half and also 8 points, 2 assists, and 2 blocks. Here is a clip of some of the pivotal early action: Oops. I somehow messed up the clip and it is only 5 seconds. If there are some spectacular plays in the 2nd half, I'll record them. |

In the 2nd half, particularly late, our defense went soft, but our offense kept executing and the closest they ever got was 18 points.
We win the NBA Championship in 6 with a 120-93 win! Simmons with 22 points, 11 boards, 9 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks, and terrific defense. Okafor with 20 points, 7 boards, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block. Chen with 19 points, 4 boards, 6 assists, 1 steal. HE shot 7 of 19. McDermott with 16 points, 6 boards, and 3 assists. Here is video of the last 2 minutes, the celebration, and the boxscore: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5yg0gf Will Chen get the MVP of the Finals? He was holding the trophy a lot in the video... let's find out...

Retirement News:
At the age of 38, after 20 years in the NBA, LeBron retires from the Cavs. His career averages: 25.8 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 7.1 apg, 2.0 spg, and 1 bpg. Both the Heat and Cavs retire his jersey immediately. LaMarcus Aldridge retires from the Knicks. Kris Humphries retires from the Nucks. Off-Season News of note: The Draft Lottery odds have been changed by the decision of the owners. The worst 3 teams will no longer have such a high chance of getting the #1 pick. There was also talk of abolishing the luxury tax which I was hoping would pass, but it failed with only 19 yes votes and 11 no votes. Speaking of the Draft Lottery... it is time for the lottery! We have no pick for the 1st time in years, so not nearly as exciting for me. George helped the Nets win games and they get the 14th pick... The Bulls move from the 10th pick (with Minnesota's pick) all the way up to #1 with the magic of the ping pong balls. They also have their own #13 pick. Too bad for them, this is a bad draft. There is no #1 consensus player and no player who is an instant impact. |

Time for the draft. No idea who the Bulls will take #1... there are 3 possibilities...
They go with Lou Adams, a 6'8 260 pound PF who is rated 71 overall and has good potential to grow. Memphis with the #2 Pick gets Sidney Welsch, a 6'4 SG who is rated 70 overall with solid potential. The Wizards with the 3rd pick decide to trade out. They get Aaron Gordon for the #3 pick. The Magic then take Nick Brooks, a 70 rated SG with good potential. The Heat trade down from the #4 pick and get the #6 pick and an aging Gordon Hayward... The Clippers moved up from 6 to 4 to get Wayne Soto, a 74 rated SG who might be close to his ceiling. Toronto uses the 5th pick on the best PG, a 68 rated player. Other notable draft news: The Lakers trade the 10th pick for an aging Greg Monroe and DeMar DeRozan. Portland then uses the pick on a 7'0 240 pound C who is rated 66 overall with good potential to grow. With our 1 pick of the draft, we take a 6'10 250 pound PF from St. John's who is 21 but we think has the potential to become a serviceable player. The question is will he make our roster? |

Free Agent News:
Rick Sharpe who is a FA is refusing to even negotiate with us. He wants to go somewhere that he can be a starter. The good news is that Holland is willing to come back on a minimum salary. McDermott wants a raise now that he has been a starter... He wants 11 million for 2 years. I see no choice but to give it to him. He could be a valuable trade asset or a backup SF or possibly keep starting... There are some big FA's this year: The best are: Brandon Ingram, 25 years old and rated 88 overall. Russell Westbrook, 34 years old and still rated 86. C Dragan Bender, rated 83 overall and only 25. C Tristan Thompson rated 82 overall and 32 years old. SG James Harden, 33 years old and rated 81 overall.. Rick Sharpe has changed his mind after being on the open market and is now willing to consider us if we give him a huge raise... his 3 point shooting is valuable and he could be a trade asset. I offer him his requested 22.5 million over 3 years. We also sign Malcolm Brogdon, a 30 year old SG who is 6'5 215 and is a very good 3 and D player even though his overall is only 73. We get him for the minimum for 1 year as he wants to play with a champion. That fills out our roster (we ran with less than a full roster last year.) Here is the FA news: Tristan Thompson went to the Thunder for 3 years and 72 million. The Raptors got a very good but not star SF in Robbie Postnov for 5 years and 81 million. The Trail Blazers went all in on Jabari Parker and made him a near max player to sign with them... The Heat had to pay to re-sign PF Darren Bell and they coughed up 100 million over 4 years. The Cavs did not bring in a lot of FA's, but they re-signed Kevin Love to 3 years for 38 million. The Wolves re-signed Kris Dunn for 5 years at 129 million. The Suns re-signed C Dragan Bender for 4 years at 120 million. Rockets re-sign James Harden for 3 years at 63 million. Hawks make a big move and sign away Russell Westbrook from the Thunder for 4 years and 150 million! Lakers re-sign Ingram for 5 years and 154 million. Bulls sign away Draymond Green from the Warriors for 3 years and 20 million. |

Off Season News (Progression):
Chen had a huge offseason. At age of 20, he is ready to take a step up into one of the elite players. He improved every phase of his game. At 29 years old and injured, Saric is starting to regress some. 21 year old Jermaine Rodgers looks like a steal and will push Saric for the starting role at some point although it will be hard for us to move Saric out of the lineup with his great shooting while Rodgers is more of an interior guy... 24 year old Anton Bilous has clearly taken a big step forward and is now a superior lockdown defender both on the perimeter and the post... his shooting is improving too. He is likely going to take over a starting role. This is especially true since the 31 year old McDermott is regressing and losing his limited physical skills... 32 year old Robert Covington is regressing badly and is most likely to be traded while he still has some value... |

I lost a long post... not sure how.
Anyway, I've decided I will sim this season and see how Chen does without me helping him at all. Bilious earned the starting role. The assistant GM also wants to start Rodgers over Saric, but I override him. Game 1: We win with defense, 87-83. Chen only has 9 points as he shot 4 of 14. Game 2: We win 110-99, but Chen is struggling to score without McDermott's scoring in there again and only has 10 points. Game 3: We win 120-118. Chen explodes with 28 points, 8 boards, and 8 assists to lead us. He also has 4 steals and 2 blocks. After game 3, McDermott and Covington both want more PT and come to speak to me about it. First few games, McDermott is only averaging 5 minutes off the bench. I decide I will try to up it a bit more. |

Game 4 at the Wizards:
We lose 87-77 despite a solid game from Chen in which he finished with 20 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, 4 steals, and a block on 6 of 13 shooting. Game 5 - We are hosting the new look Hawks who are struggling to gel. They are 1-3 despite a backcourt of Russell Westbrook and Devin Booker with solid guard play off the bench too. We lose 95-76. Chen finished with 21 points, 8 boards, 7 assists, 2 steals, and a block. Simmons finished with 12 points, 8 boards, and 2 assists. Time to get more minutes for Simmons as I was trying to back off his time a bit... After the game, 3 players come in demanding to start: Sharpe, Micoud, and Rodgers. I decide to give Micoud a chance to start over Saric who is struggling. 11/12 - We host the Kings. First game with Micoud starting and he doesn't do much but Saric has a nice game off the bench and after the game demands to start again... sheesh. Okafor led us in the 105-84 win. He had 31 points, 4 boards, 4 assists. Chen with 17 points, 6 assists, 3 boards, 4 steals. 11/15 - We play at the Wolves. We win 99-96. Chen, Okafor, and Simmons each broke 20 points in the win. Chen led us with 24 points, 6 boards, 5 assists, 5 steals, and a block. I demoted Micoud and he is mad. I just can't upset Saric whose outside shooting is so important to this offense. 11/17 - We host the Hornets and win 107-77 as Simmons exploded with his best game of the season - 34 points, 22 boards, 13 assists. Okafor with 27 points. Chen with 22 points. 11/18 - We beat the Celtics 81-78. Chen with 17 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Okafor with 21 points. 11/21 - We beat the Cavs 109-99. Okafor led the way with 29 points, 11 boards. Simmons with 25 points, 12 boards, 11 assists. Chen with 11 points and 3 assists. Micoud is pouting and now demands a trade. I decide it is time to move Micoud... I shop him around but only get absolutely horrible offers. I decide to hold onto him for now. 11/22 - We beat the Warriors 120-109 but Chen has another off night. Sophomore slump? Okafor led the way with 45 points, 10 boards, 2 assists. Saric with 17 points and 10 boards. Simmons with 15 points, 14 boards, 15 assists. Chen only had 10 points, 3 boards, and 3 assists. 11/24 - We lose to the Jazz 110-100. Chen with 17 points, 11 boards, 8 assists, and 1 steal. Okafor with 27 points and 12 boards. Simmons with 20 points, 8 boards, and 6 assists. 11/25 - Simmons injures his calf and will miss 4-6 weeks! We still beat the Kings 95-93. Okafor with 18 points and 14 boards to lead the way. Chen with 17 points, 8 boards, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 3 blocks. Holland will get the chance to start for a few games. 11/27 - We beat the Lakers 94-81 but Okafor goes down with an ankle sprain. He will miss 1-2 weeks. Micoud will start in his place. Chen with 20 points, 6 boards, 6 assists, 2 steals in the win. 11/29 - We beat the Grizzlies 104-96. Chen with 25 points, 5 boards, 5 assists, 3 steals. Brogdon with 11 points and 6 assists off the bench. Holland with 11 assists. At the end of 1 month, we are 12-3. Chen's averages are all down, but hopefully he heats up the next month.. |

12/1 -
Chen opens up the month against Detroit with a gem! 50 points, 8 boards, 4 assists, 4 steals, and a block in the 116-84 win. Saric added 20 points. Micoud with 10 points and 12 boards. 12/4 - Paul George with a big game against us as the Nets beats us 106-88. Chen shot 5 of 20 and finished with 14 points, 6 boards, and 4 assists in the loss. 12/6 - We lose to the Spurs 95-91 despite 29 points, 3 boards, 3 assists, and a steal from Chen. 12/8 - We lose to the Suns 114-102. Micoud is playing like crap and Rodgers comes into my office asking to start or be traded. He is playing great off the bench and has earned the start. I will start Rodgers and move Saric to C. In the loss, Chen had 28 points, 11 boards, 3 assists, and 4 steals. 12/9 - Okafor is cleared to return before the game starts. I promised Rodgers he would start so Saric goes to utility man off the bench... We win 122-89 as Rodgers and Bilious play great defense on their guys. Chen with 25 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, 4 steals. Okafor with 25 points and 14 boards. Bilious with 15 points and 5 boards. 12/11 - We beat the Cavs 98-82. Okafor with 28 points and 15 boards. Saric with 24 points off the bench. Chen with 16 points, 10 boards, 3 assists, and 3 steals. 12/13 - We beat Portland 110-101. Chen with 29 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Okafor with 27 points and 7 boards. Saric with 12 points and 13 boards off the bench. In draft news, this draft has another star player. Terrence Francis is a 19 year old C from New Mexico who is an absolute stud at 7'0 280 pounds. He has a nice midrange shot and is a capable post scorer. He looks like an instant all-star when he comes into the league...

He shot 4 of 17. 12/24 - The Magic have #2 pick Sammy Montgomery from Chen's class... a matchup of the 2 best players from that draft... and Chen puts on a show!! 121-90 win in which Chen had 40 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Chen hit 6 of 9 from the arc this game. 12/26 - We beat our rivals, the Knicks 112-106. Chen put on a show in MSG with 30 points, 8 assists, 3 boards, 4 steals, and 2 blocks. He hit 4 of 6 from the arc! 12/29 - We beat the Nuggets 117-104. Okafor with 28 points. Saric with 21 points, 15 boards, 7 assists. He is settling into his 6th man role very nicely. After the game, Tommy Lucas (despite not playing at all) comes to me and lets me know he wants to be in Philly for a long time. I sign him to a 2 year extension for a total of 3 million dollars. If we trade Micoud, he will become one of the top options at backup C... |

After a bad first month in which his PPG was down to 17.7 ppg, Chen had a huge 2nd month and his season average is now just slightly below last year. He is averaging 21.9 ppg (down .9), 6.1 rpg (up .3), 3.8 apg (down .3), 2.5 spg (up .2), and 0.6 bpg (down .1) We are 22-7. 1/1 - We beat Oklahoma 104-96. Chen with 25 points, 11 boards, 4 assists, and 3 steals. 1/3 - Durant and Curry each break 30 points to beat us 123-107. Saric led us with 26 points off the bench. Chen was held to 5 of 20 shooting for 15 points. Simmons has been cleared to return! 1/4 - We beat the Clippers 96-79. Chen with 22 points, 8 boards, 1 assist, 7 steals, and 1 block. Saric with 22 points, 10 boards and 7 assists. Simmons with 17 points, 12 boards, 9 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks. After the game, Sharpe lets me know he is unhappy with the lack of PT. 1/7 - We beat the Suns 117-88. Simmons with 30 points, 12 boards, 10 assists. Chen with 18 points. 1/9 We beat the Pelicans 98-88. Okafor with 25 points. Chen with 19 points, 9 boards, 4 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks. Micoud is not giving us much and is again demanding a trade. Let's see if we can accommodate him now... I work out a trade that gets rid of 2 disgruntled assets: Micoud and Brogdon and our 2025 1st round pick to Toronto for Jakob Poelti (better shot blocker and almost as good on the boards), Andre Roberson (throw in piece but can hit the occasional 3), and Toronto's 2027 1st round pick. |

Saric with 22 points, 9 boards, 7 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. Sharpe with 10 points in only 14 minutes. 1/13 - We crush the Pacers 135-82. Chen had foul trouble tonight and only played 14 minutes. He had 2 points and 1 board. Simmons took it on his shoulders with 40 points, 15 boards, 10 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks. Saric with 27 points, 11 boards, 5 assists, and 2 steals. Micoud started against us and we held him to 8 points and 4 boards in 30 minutes. We held Brogdon to 13 points and 2 assists on 4 of 12 shooting. Chen led the way with 27 points, 8 assists, 2 boards, 5 steals, and a block. He did shoot 10 of 28 Simmons with a very efficient 24 points, 10 boards, 5 assists, 6 steals, and 2 blocks. Rodgers with 24 points and 5 boards. 1/19 - We beat the Knicks 116-106 with Chen leading the way with 32 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocks. Simmons with a very efficient 24 points, 9 boards, 12 assists, 3 steasl, and 2 blocks. Okafor hurt his ankle in the 1st quarter and will miss 4-6 weeks. Poeltl is requesting to start in his place... do I start him or Saric? Saric is great but he is doing great as a reserve big off the bench. I decide to start Poeltl. 1/21 - We beat the Celtics 119-93 despite Poeltl having a subpar game with 5 points, 8 boards, and 2 blocks. Saric with 36 points, 12 boards, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block led the way. He is thriving off the bench. We are playing more small ball now with Okafor out and Sharpe got 22 minutes and finished with 20 points and 6 boards. Chen with 17 points, 6 boards, 4 assists, and 5 steals. Simmons with 15 points, 11 boards, 9 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. 1/23 - Despite a 36 point game from Guy Ingram, we beat the Knicks 114-108 in OT. Simmons and Chen both had big games: Simmons with 38 points, 8 boards, 9 assists, and 5 steals. Chen with 31 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, 4 steals, and a bloc k. Saric with 15 points, 19 boards, and 8 assists off the bench. Poeltl with 12 points, 12 boards, and 3 blocks. 1/24 - Bilous shuts down George and we beat the Nets 113-80. Simmons with 26 points, 10 boards, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. Chen with 23 points, 8 boards, 5 assists, and 2 steals. Saric with 15 points, 16 boards, 6 assists, 3 steals, and a block. Sharpe with 14 points. Poeltl with 13 points, 13 boards, 7 assists, and 2 blocks. After the game, the Nets try to trade George back to us straight up for Saric. I decline. 1/26 - We barely beat the Hornets 84-83. Chen shot 4 of 14 and finished with 10 points, 9 boards, 6 assists, and 3 blocks. Simmons with 21 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. 1/28 - We beat the Clippers 103-87. Simmons led the way with 31 points, 15 boards, 14 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks. Rodgers with 14 points and 8 boards. Poeltl with 14 points, 10 boards, 5 assists, 3 blocks. Chen finished with 11 points, 10 boards, 5 assists, 6 steals, and 2 blocks. He shot 4 of 12. 1/30 - We beat the Pelicans 102-82. Saric led the way with 24 points, 10 boards, 3 assists. Poeltl with 16 points, 14 boards, 6 assists, and a block. Chen with 4 of 16 shootinf for 11 points, 9 boards, 1 assist, 4 steals, and 1 block. 1/31 - We beat the Spurs 95-82. We end the month of a 15 game winning streak despite a subpar month from Chen. We are 38-8 and playing strong team basketball. |

The All-Star team has been announced...
We have 5 players on the team! :O Simmons and Chen were no surprise. Okafor was voted in despite his injury. Saric is tearing it up and was a coaches' pick. The 6th man role is really suiting him well. The biggest surprise was Jakob Poeltl made it in as the last coaches' pick! Since coming to Philly he is averaging 12 ppg, 10.3 rpg, and 2.1 bpg which are all career highs for him. 2/20 - Okafor has been cleared to return which means Poeltl moves back to a bench player. We crush the Pacers 134-91. Chen with 31 points, 10 boards, 5 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. Okafor with 23 points, 13 boards, and 3 assists. Simmons with 22 points, 8 boards, 8 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks. Saric with 19 points, 13 boards, and 4 assists off the bench. Poeltl with 12 points, 5 boards, 5 assists, and 3 blocks. However, after the game Poeltl tells me he wants to start or wants to be traded. I'm not doing either for now... McDermott complains about the lack of PT... Covington complains about the lack of PT... 2/21 - We beat the Hornets 93-77. Chen shot 3 of 12 and finished with 11 points, 8 boards, 5 assists, 3 steals, and a block. Okafor led the way with 35 points and 10 boards. At the All-Star break, we are 48-9. Chen is going to participate in the dunk contest to defend his crown! Chen played in the rising star game and led his team to a 88-68 win. He had 28 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, and 3 steals in 31 minutes. Wow. Chen had an outrageous dunk on his 3rd attempt in which he dunked it, held onto the rim, caught it on the bounce, and dunked it again. That got him the highest score of a 48 on the night but Kent Falls of Phoenix had 3 dunks that got the highest average score and he edged out Chen for the dunk title. In the All-Star game, the West beats the East 129-113 as Brandon Ingram led all scorers with 35 points. Okafor led the East with 25 points, 10 boards, and 2 blocks. Chen had a quiet night and only played 18 minutes. He finished with 6 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Simmons only played 19 minutes and he has 12 points, 5 boards, and 5 assists. |

3/16 -
A 16 game winning streak comes to an end as we lose to the Heat 99-96. We are 55-10. We end March with a 8 game winning streak. Only 1 loss in March. We are 63-10 and closing the season strong but Chen is cruising a bit - his averages are down to 20.8 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 3.5 apg, 2.7 spg, and 0.8 bpg. Simmons with his highest PPG of his career at 20.6 ppg, 10.6 rpg, and 7.3 apg. |

The only reason I'm not 100% sure is because Okafor is playing so great. But, I'd love to see Chen have a dominant C for his entire career |

We win every game in April to make it back to a 72-10 regular season record... and now for the MVP vote....
Ben Simmons wins it for the 3rd time! He averaged 20 ppg, 10.7 rpg, 7.6 apg, 2.0 spg, 1.0 bpg. He shot 52.5% from the field, 69.8% from the FT, and 31.6% from the arc. Sidney Welsch the #2 player in the draft won Rookie of the Year in Memphis with a 16.5 ppg average. No surprise. Dario Saric won 6th man of the year. He averaged 17.1 ppg (a career high by a wide margin only 11.6 ppg last year starting) 9.3 rpg (also a career high), 4.2 apg (career high), 1.0 spg, and 0.9 bpg. So, no matter how much he complains, I'm going to try to keep him in this role. Kent Falls of Phoenix won most improved player. He took a big step forward and averaged 21.1 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 2.8 apg. Popovich won Coach of the Year again for guiding our team. I won GM of the Year. Chen was 3rd team all NBA. Chen was 1st team for All Defensive team. His defense is improving significantly. We are the #1 seed and will face Orlando in the 1st round. I will sim to the finals where I might play some.. (if we make it.) |

Chen against the former #2 pick in the draft and he completely outplays him. Chen averages 26.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 3.0 apg, 3.3 spg, and 0.7 bpg as we sweep Orlando and none of the games are close.
We will face the Knicks in round 2... Game 1 - Chen has an off night and we get beat 106-86. Ingram put up 32 on us and Porzingis added 25. Game 2 - Simmons with a 38 points, 10 boards, 10 assist night as we bounce back with a 124-90 win. Chen with 14 points, 8 assists, 5 boards, and 4 steals. Rodgers had 20 points and 10 boards but Saric complains after the game that he wants to start. Covington, Sharpe, and McDermott all complaining about lack of PT after the game as well... Game 3 - We lose 115-100. Ingram put up 29 points and Porzingis added 24. Chen shot 4 of 15 and finished with 9 points. Game 4 - Bilious plays horrible but we win 119-107. Our owner demands that I bench Bilious. I do and move Rodgers to SF and Saric into PF. Ingram torched Bilious for 34 points. Okafor led us with 34 points and 12 boards. Simmons with 25 points, 14 boards, and 10 assists. Chen with 22 points, 7 assists, 1 board, 4 steals, and a block. Game 5 - We win 129-94 but Bilious complains afterwards that he didn't start. Okafor with 31 points and 10 boards. Chen with 24 points. Roberson got into the game and had 22 points in 15 minutes! Simmons with a quiet 14 points, 10 boards, 10 assists, 3 steals, and a block. Saric had his worst game of the playoffs as a starter with only 9 points and 6 boards. Despite that, I will stick with this lineup for Game 6. Game 6: We win 116-109 and close out the series! Chen exploded for 38 points, 10 boards, 4 assists, 4 steals, and a block. He shot 5 of 11 from the arc. Saric with 21 points, 9 boards, 5 assists, and 2 steals. Okafor with 16 points and 9 boards. Poeltl with 12 points, 8 boards, and 2 blocks. We will play the #3 seed Cleveland who did surprisingly well without LeBron. They offered me Love in the middle of the season for Saric but he and Kyrie are the key to their success this year. |
