Seeing eye single up the middle, they would have had no shot at the double play.

I saw the 9th inning after having missed most of the second half of the game... That was a great bottom of the ninth... I couldn't believe the umps overturned that call when the Japanese player tagged up...

Yeah, I don't see how in the world that guy reportedly left early. I could understand a bad call, but not overturning the call to produce the out.
