Prices will remain low for another week or two, until player aging takes effect. Also, prize money and the like haven't been handed out just yet.
The beginning of the season is a seller's market, and gradually over the course of the season it becomes a buyer's market. Don't expect too much from player sales right now.

I decided to put my most talented player up for bid. I put a fairly high minimum on him, but less than I saw for several similar players (min bin 2.5-3 times value). Basically I am fishing to see if someone will take him. If someone does, I can use the money to buy a replacement wingback and fund an arena expansion. I still have two solid central defenders, so my defense should not suffer to much if I have to take a significantly lesser player. If no one takes him, I am left with a damn good wingback.

I've seen similar skilled players listed with opening bids of $250k-$300k, but have had no bids. I'd guess that you'd definately get someone to pay $200,000.
