It wasnt who they lost to it was that they appeared to quit a couple of times. They were 9-7 scoring 394 giving up 400 points in the regular season. I realize they are a much better team right now but their regular season resume was poor for a super bowl team. I wonder if a team has ever won the Super Bowl when getting outscored in the regular season? |

Giants are first team to ever get to a Super Bowl being outscored in the regular season.

This makes Tuck's comments a little more laughable IMO. He's saying that no one is giving his team a chance when in reality it seems a lot more people are giving his team a chance than they maybe even deserve. |

Personally, I'm really hoping that the Giants can win this one. As a Colts fan, I'd hate to have Brady and the Pats win #4 in our house.

70 degrees today in Dallas. I bet Jerry is shaking his fist at the sky wondering where this weather was last year for Super Bowl week.

Did my first of two days in Indy for the NFL experience. Great weather, good crowd. Indy really did a good job getting things ready. The NFL experience is a blast. Lots of great games for the adults and kids. Night time crowd was really packed. Only disappointment was my autograph hunt. The big 2 today were Pierre Garcon and Von Miller. They were both at the same time, so I went with Miller since I've met Garcon before but the Miller session was not an autograph session but a kids only play 60 event. No biggie. I'll be back Friday with my son and my dad. Think my son is going to love doing all the competitions. No way I'm doing the zip line though..much higher than I thought it'd be!!!

As far as the Ware no TD prop goes. Does he need to have a carry for that bet to be legit? Sportsbooks can be tricky in their wording. Sometimes they will say(must play) which some books will say means he has to have a carry. |

Good question, I was using bookmaker and no carries are required. If you do find dodgy wording, you can also go for the under 2 carries bet. It's better odds (-145) and he hasn't had a carry since Bradshaw's been back (mid Dec).

Exactly. Plus, the Giants have asked for the ball in over half the times they've won the toss. So, basically, there's between a 60 and 75% chance the Giants start with the ball (based on how much Giants data you use).

It means that Irsay came out today and shredded any small chance there was that this might be resumed amicably after all. So much for the truce. Also I have to say Pey-Pey isnt exactly smelling of roses here. You couldn't wait until after the SB in Indy that your brother is playing in to release that nugget of information? I don't know if it is Peyton releasing the info or not. If he wanted to release the info, I would think he would have done it earlier in the week when he gave the interview to ESPN.
From a PR point of view, it doesn't matter what Peyton does. The fans love him no matter what. He's nothing like Favre. Irsay tweeting like he did last night is laughable to me. Why tweet it? You've already decided to cut him, you just haven't said it yet. Everything that comes out of the Colts, whether it is Irsay, Grigson, Pagano, Arains, etc talks about the future. They're all talking about moving on but no one has come right out and said Peyton's not part of the plan. So, there's no use in fighting a PR battle today when you're going to be hated once you cut him regardless of what you do between now and then. |

A ton of news being dropped by the NFL today. Thursday schedule is being increased to 13 games:
NFL: all 32 NFL teams will play at least one primetime game in 2012. Also, every club will play on one Thursday following a Sunday game.

He could have hired Scott Boras to announce it at the start of the 3rd quarter of the SB, too.

That's excellent news. This is why the NFL is beating the snot out of other leagues- it's the sign of a very forward thinking league and model. Whereas baseball keeps trying to focus on only on the large markets or basketball only a few star teams, the NFL wants to promote the league as a whole and it helps them stay healthy across the country in every market. What? And spoil the non-stop Manning News that we've been having for two weeks? It's pathetic of those complaining that we would have two weeks of nothing but Brady and Bellicheck, whereas we got two weeks of the worst team of the 2011 NFL and a QB who did not even play. |

Manning and Irsay are both whores. But anyway, I did cleanse myself and and listened to a ton of ESPN and WEEI podcasts about the actual game today while doing some chores, and that got me a lot more fired up for tomorrow. It's an interesting matchup. It's interesting how the Pats are still favored in Vegas (last I checked), when the clear consensus is that the Giants are the better team. I agree with the consensus. But I also remember that the Giants won 9 games this year and had some very bad losses. And I see the way they're talking this week, and while I don't have problem with a team talking, I wonder if there are some mental issues going on there - the Giants have had some problems when they're expected to do well, and they maybe have to turn the talking up to 11 to motivate themselves, even if it's the super bowl. Maybe that's a stretch, but it does seem like an excellent team that has mental switches that are a little off at times. Where as the Patriots have been more consistent - an up and down first few weeks and now 10 wins in a row, and the defense has improved along the way and now peaked in the playoffs. And I think I'm more afraid of the Giants' offense than their defense. Everybody talks about the defense and getting to Brady, which is important, but I think it's true that the Pats are much less susceptible to the pass rush this year then when they've had a more vertical offense in years past. I think they can figure it out. But the Giants offense v. Patriots defense, there's just going to be scary on every possession. Last edited by molson : 02-04-2012 at 06:46 PM. |

I don't think people are giving the Patriots enough credit. We are talking about a 13-3 team here. A lot of the 'experts' are saying the Giants are going to win by a lot. Remember the Rams were supposed to beat the Patriots, too.
I expect a good game that comes down to the last possession. |

13-3 against a ridiculously soft schedule, now playing against a team that matches up damn near perfectly against them.

As a Giants fan, I'm nervous because the last time this many people were picking the Giants in a Super Bowl, they got spanked by the Ravens.
(But yeah, 13-3, but 0-3 against teams above .500 in the regular season I think. They didn't beat a team with a winning record until the championship game against the Ravens, and they barely won that.) |

The Patriots v. teams with winning records thing is one of the more overrated stats out that's getting a lot of play. Would their season have been considered more impressive, if they say, beat the Steelers and the Giants, and instead, lost to to the Dolphins and the Redskins? Is that the mark of a better team?
It seems more a scheduling quirk than anything else. There were 8 teams that finished 8-8 in the NFL this year. Including the playoffs, Patriots were 8-0 against that group. So, including the playoffs, the Patriots were 9-2 against teams that were .500 or better. The Giants were 8-4 against teams that were .500 or better, including the playoffs. And the Giants also lost twice to the Redskins, and to the Seahawks at home. So were they really all that much more impressive during their season? Last edited by molson : 02-04-2012 at 10:42 PM. |
