I'm not sure if anyone else commented, but I am okay with fractional points.

So, in looking at the positional splits for 2012 scoring out of the top 100 offensive players, they break down like this:

25 QB
22 RB
43 WR
10 TE

Not a great year for tight ends, but many of the big names dealt with injuries last season.

SI mentions that he likes to keep the splits around 20/20/45/15. I think that tight ends will naturally bounce back a bit, so I am not going to add fractional points or make any other scoring changes this year.

My only concern was actually that WR seemed a bit high-powered last year, but the stats don't bear that out.

Are there any resources that would help me with this kind of league? I will do my own research, but if there's anything else that you guys recommend, I'm all eyes.

Should I start drafting?

As the scoring is now settled, and the draft is scheduled to begin on Monday at 8 AM, I am actually going to open the floor now.

No one will be held to any time limits over the weekend, so whatever we get through, we get through. But starting on Monday, we will have 2 hour time limits per pick.

Reminders:

1. If you could post your picks in a format like this "1.1 QB Warren Moon, HOU", it would be greatly appreciated. The bold helps it stand out from the random other chatter. Also, the position and team name make it easier for me to enter it into and find the right player. There used to be two WR Steve Smiths in the league, for instance, and this helps out with putting the right names into Yahoo.

2. PM the person after you! This is extremely important this season with the quick schedule. Personally, I don't have thread subscriptions turned on so I don't see every time someone posts in the thread, but I do get an email every time I get a PM so that is helpful.

3. Yes, I'm the commish but I always am thankful for help. I'll be able to check multiple times per day but I won't be on every hour on the hour. If it's been more than the allotted time (2 hours this week, 1 hour next week), make the pick so the next person can go. It's nothing personal, we're not being mean, but we need to keep it moving. If someone posts in the thread "I'm here", be nice and let them make the pick (within reason- I mean if the posted it like 3 hours ago, well, you know...). But if you're late with the pick and you post "I'm here", make the pick in the next few minutes.

4. We've never had issues with table talk during the draft: it's meant to be a nice, friendly league and we all have access to the same information. So if I say "You know, I had a hard time deciding between Morten Anderson and Tony Zendejas but I went with Morten", don't get mad because Zendejas was your big sleeper and he gets picked right before you: if he was that big of a sleeper, you should have picked him last round. Heck, use table talk to your advantage: maybe I really don't like Zendejas and want someone else to pick him because I'm really hoping Chip Lohmiller falls to me. Just don't be an ass and it's up to my discretion who's being an ass. This is meant to be a nice, friendly league.

5. We're using Yahoo for the draft and I'll try to keep that up to date as often as I can. I'll also try to keep up with the draft in post #5. However, there's a quirk in Yahoo with regards to players remaining in the pool. If you go to the "Players" tab in Yahoo, it will take the drafted players out of the pool and you'll only see who is left. However, if you search on a name- it will give you all players with that name, available or not. So, if Warren Moon was picked 1.1 and I'm at 1.2, I won't see him in the available players. However, if I search on "Moon", he will show up even tho he's been picked.

I typically do some googling of draft guides for PPR leagues, but if you do that I would definitely check their recommendations between regular and PPR... some just pay it lip-service, some actually do the number crunching.

With the first pick of the Alternate Rules draft, Chief's Savages select...

1.1 Drew Brees, QB

Butter is up next. PMing him now.

First overall picks are sometimes extremely difficult. Given that we run with 2 QBs, this position has a lot more scarcity here than in other drafts and QBs are more consistent producers, too.

Under our unchanged rules, Brees was the #2 scorer last year, and that was without Payton. So I am counting on even better performance.

Danke. I typically go back and forth anyway to get a general consensus. Just seemed like I needed more for this. I think I'm set then.

Just for fair disclosure. I went over the basics of FF with my wife and printed her a draft list and gave her some general advise, but from here on out she is deciding herself who to pick.

Shit, sorry guys. I had all kinds of stuff going on this weekend, I should've been here earlier.

Anyway, thought between 3 different guys, but in the end I am going with:

1.2 RB Adrian Peterson, MIN

I don't disagree with CR's choice at all, but I can't leave him on the board, even if all the elite QBs might be gone by the time I pick again.

I PM'd TRO, as Royal Apes are up 3rd.

Calvin is a solid choice... I was definitely considering him at #2, but my RBs were such a disaster last year, I am HOPING that AP can have another great season.

I don't think I feel good about that. This is intended to be a nice, friendly league though, so if more people disagree with me than agree, I can be persuaded.

I will have to add this as a rule going forward though, you need to research your picks before taking a person. If they have injury questions, you assume the risk.

I think this Foster case is different than someone that you didn't know had just blown out an ACL and is out for the season. Foster dropped to 8th on that ESPN wonk's board from above, so you are not way off the reservation with that pick.

Thoughts?

It's ok, I was only mildly serious. I was kicking myself for picking from my phone this morning as I told myself "seriously, if Foster was hurt, you would have heard about it by now".

He's just going to run for 1,800 and 20 TDs now. Book it.

CR gets double-time to make his 2nd and 3rd round picks since he has 2 straight, but we are down to about a half hour... I'll probably let him eat into my time a bit since he is a West Coaster and it is still early out there.

Sorry for the hold up guys. I am picking right now. Bad timing with my two jobs. These picks came up right at the start of my job last night.

Should we be counting sleeping hours while on the clock?
