Thought it was great episode with a lot of funny moments. The one gripe I have is that I felt Jim and Pam running off to have their own small wedding before the church wedding was a bit of a rip off from Lilly and Marshall's wedding episode a few years ago on How I met your mother.

My wife and I both thought it was one of the best episodes of The Office ever.

I loved how I was saying "really, you're just gonna rip off youtube like that?" and then they shoved it right back in my face.

I thought it was excellent. Like RM said, I laughed out lout several times. I was kind of neutral on the "Dance Forever" entry until Kevin knocked stuff over and, as over the top as it was, Dwight kicking the bridesmaid (along w/ the sound it made) killed me.

It was the little stuff.
- Kevin coming in wearing kleenex boxes as shoes and knocking over everything. - Creed stuffing his face as everyone is puking. - Kevin switching seats with Erin. - Dwight kicking the bridesmaid in the face. - Angela's comment about Pam and Jim treating the office like a 70's key party. The show is best when they don't go over the top with any of the characters. They didn't do that on this episode. My only wish was that they'd make Jim funny again. |

This goes down as one of my favorite of the show. I watched the last 15 minutes over again. Great, great, great.

I watched the last 10 or 15 minutes twice, too. I'm pretty sure that Michael came down the aisle three or four times, which is pretty funny, too. It was pretty awesome when Michael was trying to find a room, too. Stanley and his girlfriend in a queen bed and then refusing Toby's offer. |

I was actually thinking to myself as this episode finished "They should just call it quits now. This just would be an excellent end to the show."
Of course, then we'd never get the payoff of Michael and Pam's mom, but we all know the "who's your daddy" jokes are going to get old quick.

Yeah, the dance spoof off of that youtube thing would have been good if they did it well. There were some funny moments (Kevin, Andy), but some stupid parts (did they keep walking back to the front to walk back down again with different dance moves? And Dwight kicking that girl, for whatever reason I found that dumb). |

When did they decide to drop the whole idea of witticisms and make this show 90% physical comedy?

Err, am I the only one that watched Basketball, The Fight, The Injury, The Carpet, Gay Witch Hunt, Initiation, Phyllis' Wedding, Beach Games, etc.?
Since when has physical comedy not been a big part of the show? As for witticisms - "Viagra Falls", Dwight "testing" Michael, Dwight talking to the kids about the "bad man", Oscar's reaction to dating Kevin, Meemaw thinking that Bruno is representative of the type of hotel theyre staying at, Jim talking about having a backup plan when he first saw the Youtube video, Jim's brothers asking Michael for a whoopee cushion and him having one. Shrug, I guess I watched a completely different episode than some people did.

No, I remember all of those so it's the same episode. Dwight testing Michael wasn't a favourite of mine either. I know I already mentioned in a previous season's thread, but I hate when they Michael look really, unbelievably dumb, and then don't make him look competent later down the road. So he knows he didn't make a reservation, and then believes Dwight about the reservation being under "M Scott," and then acts like an ass to him? That's an example of him being unbelievably stupid and not funny. A recent example of stupid AND funny is when he walks into the meeting with Jim/head guy a couple of episodes back and the stuff he's saying on the phone. At least in my opinion. Oscar's reaction was great. |

I'm surprised more people didn't like this episode. I agree with the earlier post that it would have made a pretty satisfying series finale, w/ the dance scene giving everyone an opportunity to see all the characters and their personalities/stereotypes (Angela just walking down uncomfortable, Creed dancing wildly despite being an old man, Kevin being awkward, etc.) and the wedding giving Jim and Pam closure.

Loved the episode. I wondered how they would make the wedding episode memorable considering Phyllis' wedding, Andy and Angela's build-up to a wedding, and all the other sitcom weddings and they surpassed my expectations.
Great show and if they had ended the series on this episode, it would be perfect. That being said, I'm looking forward to seeing what they do next. I'm a sucker for video montages. |

WHAT? I mean I liked the episode, but what?! They completely went over the top with Kevin (his shoes were a safety hazard, c'mon and then he couldn't buy new shoes but needed Kleenex boxes?!) and Michael (his trying to explain Jim's slipup was very over the top as well as his reaction to the testing of Dwight). Though I did think it was funny. Hard to do wedding episodes right anyways... and especially hour long ones (which I think The Office always struggles with anyways).

Explaining Kevin...he's always had foot issues, throughout the series. There have been numerous references to this, jokes upon jokes to his issues (some are medical). When I saw this, I saw nothing as over-the-top, given how they've set up all of his medical problems. Michael's slipup was cringeworthy, though I wouldn't characterize it as over-the-top. Michael has, of course, done much, much more that made me awkward...perhaps that's why this doesn't get anything more than an "eh" for me on the over-the-top scale. Besides, he tried to convince the grandmother to stay (albeit in Michael's own way). |

Issues are one thing, but having to burn someone's shoes as a "safety issue"? C'mon? When has that ever happened? And then wearing Kleneex's instead of, you know, buying new shoes...

I just started watching the original British "The Office" tonight on Netflix. It is available to watch instantly and I caught the first episode, so far. The dialogue and storyline from the first episode was almost exactly the same as the American version. It should be interesting to compare them to one another -- early on, I like American Jim (Tim?) and Dwight (Gareth) better and British Michael (David Brent, I think?) and Pam (Dawn) better. It is pretty funny how similar they made Jim/Tim's appearance, though.

Well, I did say that it seemed like the episode was 90% physical comedy and while that was a slight exaggeration, that's no comparison to the small bits of physical humor that were in all of the episodes you mentioned. Usually there would be a funny sight gag or visual that would last for a few seconds at a time, not SEVERAL minutes of lame dancing (that I don't even understand how could be construed as funny) or vomiting as though this is a show designed for 10 year olds or people who don't want to think. For example, in "Basketball", there were some shots of Michael playing badly, which was supposed to be funny because he had just gone on about how awesome he was, but that was interspersed with dialogue and that was where the humor mainly came from. Most of the humor from that episode didn't come from seeing anyone get hit in the face, that kind of thing was just for a second at a time. It was from actual dialogue and attempts at realistic characterizations, which I guess the writers cared more about at the time. Last edited by lurker : 10-12-2009 at 12:23 PM. |

I'm with some of the people who think the "dancing down the isle" wasn't funny at all. Then again, I'm one of the people who thought the original was lame in the first place. The quicker that little fad dies, the quicker. We don't need to encourage it NBC.
As for the show itself, it's not as good as it used to be, but it's still entertaining. I haven't seen any previews for the upcoming episode (I'm assuming this week is new), but this would be a perfect opportunity for them to explore other characters as Jim and Pam are on their "honeymoon". |

So I'm guessing you really didn't get why the vomiting bit was funny. It wasn't because everyone was throwing up, but it was funny because of Dwight's reaction (WTF did I do) and Creed's unfazed look as he was eating his food.

Yeah, I get that that was supposed to be funny -- not worth the length of time showing the rest of the vomiting. The net effect was stupid, not clever.

The Kleenex boxes on the feet was hilarious. I also enjoyed watching Toby push his walker up the aisle during the dancing scene. Good stuff.

Thinking it over, it would have been more funny and more realistic if Kevin had bought cheap flip-flops or something more like that, rather than the tissue boxes.
