7/6 - MLB
Baltimore Orioles (19-7) @ Atlanta Braves (10-16). The Orioles ride a 5 hit shutout by Tom Seaver (7-3) and a Bobby Bonds home run (his 9th of the season) to a 2-0 victory to remain in first.

Boston Red Sox (5-21) @ New York Yankees (16-10). A loss will send the Red Sox officially to relegation. The Yankees need a win to try to climb back into the post season. The Red Sox do not go down without a fight as they win 13-5.

California Angels (8-18) @ Detroit Tigers (14-12). A win here would be big for the Angels as the two teams that are a game up on them will be playing each other today as they try to climb back out of relegation. The Angels ride a Carlton Fisk home run to a 2-1 victory.

Minnesota Twins (17-9) @ New York Mets (18-8). The Mets have been slipping a bit and need a win to keep the Cardinals from potentially passing them into the second seed. The Twins continue the Mets slide with a 9-3 victory and they are now tied with the Mets.

Chicago Cubs (9-17) @ Chicago White Sox (9-17). The loser will be tied for the second relegation spot. The Cubs pound out 10 runs in a 10-1 victory.

Philadelphia Phillies (15-11) @ San Francisco Giants (16-10). Each team needs a win to keep slim post season hopes alive. The Giants win 7-4.

S. Louis Cardinals (18-8) @ Oakland A's (10-16). The Cardinals can move into sole possession of 2nd place with a victory. A Roberto Clemente home run (his 8th of the season) helps the Cardinals win 6-2

Cleveland Indians (20-6) @ Buffalo Bisons (6-20). A Cleveland win could help them move into a position for a home game in the post season (pending other games). A Buffalo win pretty much makes them safe from relegation. The Indians pound the Bisons 10-2.

Houston Astros (21-5) @ Pittsburgh Pirates (23-3). A Pirates victory will keep them at least 2 games up with 3 games to play, giving them a near stranglehold on the title. Bill Singer and the Astros have a different idea as they beat the Prates 6-2 as Singer improves to 11-2.

Kansas City Royals (11-15) @ Louisville Colonels (4-22). Kansas City blanks Louisville 9-0 as the Colonels remain in danger of relegation.

Washington Senators (21-5) @ Syracuse Chiefs (5-21). One team trying to get within a game of the league leader and another trying to stay at least a game out of relegation. The Chiefs stun the Senators 6-2. Syracuse is 2 up with 3 left, making them almost certainly safe.

Tidewater Tides (4-22) @ Toledo Mud Hens (18-8). Tidewater needs the win to get out of relegation zone while Toledo is trying to make the post season and just as desperately needs the win for that goal. Toledo has little trouble in a 7-1 victory.

Rochester Red Wings (3-23) @ San Diego Padres (19-7). Relegation versus playoffs. A 3 hit shutout by Steve Carlton (9-3) as the Padres pound out 12 runs in the 12-0 victory.

St. Louis Cardinals (19-8) @ Minnesota Twins (18-9). This would be a playoff preview if the season ended now, except it would be in St. Louis. The Cardinal go deep 3 times in an 8-5 victory as they remain hot and put the Twins in danger of being tied for the final playoff spot.

Atlanta Braves (10-17) @ California Angels (9-18). An important game in the tight race to avoid the second relegation spot. A win for the Braves pretty much makes them safe. The Braves lead 4-2 heading into the bottom of the 9th and safety is potentially 3 outs away. With two outs and a runner on Bill Melton hits a game tying 2 run home run that sends the game to extra innings. In the bottom of the 10th Ron Swoboda hits a one out solo home run to give the Angels the 5-4 victory and keep the fight to avoid relegation a very tight race.

Cincinnati Reds (13-14) @ Baltimore Orioles (20-7). The Orioles need a win to stay a game up on the surging Cardinals. The Reds have other plans as they score 3 runs in the 1st on their way to a 6-2 victory.

New York Mets (18-9) @ Boston Red Sox (6-21). The Red Sox could try to play spoilers for the Mets. The Mets are able to ride a strong outing by Denny Lemaster (8-2) to a 3-2 victory.

Oakland A's (10-17) @ Philadelphia Phillies (15-12). The A's need a win to stay at least a game up on the last relegation spot and remain safe. They get the game of the season by Tom Walker with a 5 hit shutout for only his 2nd win of the season (2-7) in a much needed 1-0 victory.

Chicago White Sox (9-18) @ Detroit Tigers (14-13). A loss by the White Sox leaves them alone in the 2nd relegation position. Detroit rides an early lead to an 8-3 victory as the White Sox are in danger (may be a bad year for Sox).

New York Yankees (16-11) @ Chicago Cubs (10-17). A win for the Yankees leaves them within a game of a possible playoff spot while a win for the Cubs may leave them safe as they would be 2 up on the second relegation position with 2 games to play. The Yankees came to play as they score 15 runs on 22 hits as they bat around in two different innings on their way to a 15-4 victory.

San Francisco Giants (17-10) @ Los Angeles Dodgers (12-15). The Giants can move into a tie for the final playoff position with a win. The Dodgers score 3 in the first inning and take that to a 4-1 victory.

Thank you. Still trying to get the best approach. Going to have to tinker a little for the next season, so the last two leagues don't finish a week before the rest.

1st round playoffs
Walla Walla Bears @ Texas Rangers.
T-1: Edwin Varga (11-3, 2.39) pitching for Texas. He strikes out the side in the top of the first, though allowed a walk to the second batter.
B-1: Jim Gibson (6-3, 2.74) pitching for Walla Walla. Gibson walks the bases loaded with one out. John Ramirez (.359, 3 HR, 30 RBI) falls behind 0-2 in the count and hits a fly ball to right for the second out. The runner at third tags and tries to score but is thrown out at the plate for an inning ending double play.

T-2: Vargas walks another batter but strikes out two in the top of the second to keep the game scoreless.
B-2: An easy 1, 2, 3 inning for Gibson that saw him throw only 10 pitches even though 6 of them were out of the zone, a little patience may have been what the Rangers needed.

T-3: A 6 pitch inning for Vargas that saw a lead off hit batter erased with a double play.
B-3: A 1 out double by Jimmy Morgan (.317, 6 HR, 19 RBI) doesn't lead to anything as the next two batters fly out to left to end the inning and keep the game scoreless.

T-4: A Ryan Essman single and Paul Morris double puts runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs. A David Young ground out brings home the first run ot the game as Walla Walla takes a 1-0 lead. A Json Mudgett ground out brings home the second run of the game and through the top of the 4th Walla Walla leads 2-0.
B-4: With 2 outs and no one on Ray Ball (.333, 4 HR, 28 RBI) lines a shot over the left field fence for a solo home run to put the Rangers on the board. Through 4 innings Walla Walla leads 2-1.

T-5: A two out single leads to nothing for Walla Walla as the next batter strikes out.
B-5: A one out single goes nowhere for the Rangers and they trail 2-1 through 5 innings.

T-6: Robert Mendez (2-0, 2.83) comes in to pitch for the Rangers. In a repeat of the 4th inning Essman and Morris lead off with a single and double to put runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs. With the infield in a ground ball to 2nd doesn't bring home a run. Jason Mudgett is intentionally walked to load the bases with one out. Mendez strikes out the next two batters to get out of the jam and keep the game 2-1.
B-6: The lead off batter is hit but erased on a double play and the Rangers still trail 2-1 after 6 innings.

T-7: With two men on and two outs Paul Morris (.294, 9 HR, 36 RBI) rips a ball deep down the right field line and it curls fair into the stands for a 3 run home run to give Walla Walla a 5-1 lead. Mendez is replaced by Josh Ring (0-1, 2.16) and he gets them out of the inning.
B-7: A 2 out double leads to nothing for the Rangers and they trail 5-1 through 7 innings.

T-8: William Turner in to pitch for Texas. Jason Mudgett greets him with a 412 foot shot to left center to lead off the inning. With two outs a hit batter and single put two men on but a deep fly out to right ends the inning with Walla Walla up 6-1.
B-8: Carlos Vergara (0-0, 1.26) comes in to pitch for Walla Walla. He has an efficient 5 pitch 1, 2, 3 inning. Through 8 Walla Walla is up 6-1 and are three outs away from moving on.

T-9: Walla Walla gets runners at 1st and 2nd with one out but a pop up and ground out end the inning with no damage.
B-9: Alex Lopez walks to lead off the inning. On the fist pitch John Ramirez hits a line drive that just clears the right field wall for a 2 run home run to make it 6-3. After a fly out and walk Vergara gets Jordan Quintana to ground into a game ending double play.

Walla Walla moves on 6-3.

Frederick Keys @ Colorado Rockies.
This one is a little less compelling as the Rockies pound the Keys 10-0 behind a 3 hit shutout by Josh Baldi and behind a 2 home run performance by Jamie Okalita.

Colorado moves on 10-0.

1st round
Covington Astros @ Magic Valley Cowboys
Magic Valley gets in the endzone three times in a 21-5 route. They put up 9 runs in the 3rd inning and never looked back.

Bluefield Orioles @ Everett Aquasox
This game looked like it had actual pitchers involved as the Bluefield offense struggled with only 6 hits in an Everett 6-1 victory thanks to a 4 run 5th inning that sealed the deal.

Chicago White Sox (9-19) @ Atlanta Braves (10-18). Atlanta would clinch safety with a victory. A loss would put the White Sox at risk of clinching relegation today. With the Braves leading 3-0 through 6 innings the White Sox score twice in the 7th and twice in the 8th to take a 4-3 lead. They take the lead into the bottom of the 9th when Don Bosch (.284, 5 HR, 19 RBI) hits a one out base clearing triple to score two runs and win the game 5-4. The Braves are safe and the White Sox could be in serious trouble.

Minnesota Twins (18-10) @ Oakland A's (11-17). The Twins could potentially clinch a playoff spot with a victory, depending on what happens elsewhere. The Twins do their job with an 8-3 victory.

Detroit Tigers (15-13) @ New York Yankees (17-11). A loss would officially knock the Yankees out of the playoffs. With the Yankees leading 5-3 in the top of the 8th Steve Garvey and Nate Colbert lead off the inning with back to back home runs to tie the game 5-5. With 2 outs and runners and the bases loaded in the top of the 9th a wild pitch brings home the go ahead run for the Tigers. Frank Fernandez then rips the next pitch to left for a single bringing home one but Charlie Manuel is thrown out trying to score which ends the inning with the Tigers up 7-5. Dean Chance comes in to close out the game and get his first save of the season for the Tigers. The Yankees have been eliminated.

California Angels (10-18) @ Cincinnati Reds (14-14). A win for the Angels would make them safe from relegation and leave the White Sox just a Cubs win from being relegated. The Reds have something to say about that with a 13-5 victory.

Chicago Cubs (10-18) @ New York Mets (19-9). The Cubs can clinch safety with a victory, the Mets can clinch a playoff spot with a victory. The Cubs score twice in the first to take a 2-0 lead but the Mets score 2 runs in the 2nd to tie and 2 more in the 6th to take a 4-2 lead which would be how the game ends. The Cubs are still in trouble and the Mets have clinched a playoff spot.

Boston Red Sox (6-22) @ St. Louis Cardinals (20-8). The Cardinals have been hot and the Red Sox have nothing to play for. The Cardinals score two in the 1st and the Red Sox tie it with 2 in the second. The score remains 2-2 into extra innings. In the bottom of the 10th Roberto Clemente hits a 2 out solo walk off home run for the 3-2 victory, his 9th of the season.

Baltimore Orioles (20-8) @ San Francisco Giants (17-11). A Baltimore win will eliminate the Giants and have all 4 playoff teams set, only seeding left to finalize. A Giants win keeps them alive and knocks the Orioles from the top spot. The Orioles aren't messing around as they score 13 in a 13-4 victory as 5 different Orioles go deep.

Later today I plan on doing the finals for the MIDW and CARL and hopefully finishing off the other leagues regular season.

Next season I am going to try to change up the starting dates for the leagues so each league is a little more in sync.

Also going to take a little time when this season is over to review the financial settings. Don't want the lower leagues going bankrupt.

7/15 - CARL Finals

Walla Walla Bears @ Colorado Rockies
T-1: Josh Baldi takes the mound for the Colorado Rockies. He retires the side in order.
B-1: Jim Gibson takes the mound for Walla Walla on short rest. The Rockies put runners at the corners with two outs. Josh Partida (.322, 4 HR, 17 RBI) clears the bases with a 2 run double to right. After 1 inning Colorado leads 2-0.

T-2: The side is retired in order, with 2 strikeouts.
B-2: Gibson settles and retires the side quickly in order.

T-3: Baldi continues to shine as he retires the side in order again; 9 up and 9 down.
B-3: A one out single doesn't lead to any threat as the Rockies lead 2-0 after 3 innings.

T-4: After retiring the first 11 batters of the game Baldi finally cracks as he allows a 2 out double to Ryan Essman but gets Ryan Morris to pop up to 2nd to end the inning.
B-4: With 2 outs and runners at the corners Josh Baldi helps himself with a line drive single to right to knock in a run and make it 3-0. The inning ends with no further damage.

T-5: The Bears start the inning with a walk, a double, a triple and a single to score 3 runs and tie the game 3-3. The next batter grounds into a double play and that seems to end the momentum as the inning ends tied 3-3.
B-5: Craig Elliott singles home Paulo Damil, who has reached base on an error and moved to third and a single, to give the Rockies a 4-3 lead. With 2 outs and runners at the corners Clay Ertel singles to center to score Jamie Okolita and a throwing error trying to get Bryan Chadima at third allows him to score. Through 5 the Rockies now lead 6-3 as they get the three runs back they gave up in the top half.

T-6: They Bears load the bases with no outs but back to back strike outs threaten to end the threat. Ronald Pietila rips a 1-0 pitch into the gap in left center and to the wall, he legs out a bases clearing triple and the game is tied 6-6. Scott Ames (0-0, 3.27) come in to pitch for the Rockies and he gets the final out with one pitch. The game is tied 6-6.
B-6: Carlos Vergara comes in to pitch for the Bears. With one out Paulo Danmil lines a ball into left center, he tries to stretch it into a triple and is thrown out for the second out. A lazy fly to left ends the inning. Through 6 the game is tied at 6.

T-7: After a runner is caught stealing for the second out of the inning Mark Burnette singles. Ryan Essman lines a ball into right center for a double, Burnetts scores to give the Bears a 7-6 lead. A walk and fly out end the inning two batters later.
B-7: Chris Ford (9-2, 3.02) comes in to pitch for the Bears as it is all hands on deck, he is the other starter for the team. A lead off walk and double put runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs. The next batter strikes out for the first out of the inning. Clay Ertel rips a line drive but it is right at the shortstop for the second out of the inning. Robert Leatherwood flies out to center to end the inning, the Rockies strand two runners in scoring position.

T-8: The side is retired in order.
B-8: With 2 outs and a runner on first Jamie Okolita singles to put runners at 1st and 2nd. Alfredo Rojas pinch runs for Okolita. Craig Elliott grounds a 3-1 pitch to short who flips to second for the force to end the inning. The Bears may be three outs away from promotion.

T-9: Michael Young (0-0, 7.20) comes in to pitch for the Rockies. Michael Popovec greets him with a lead off solo home run to give the Bears an 8-6 lead. Young settles down and retires the next three batters.
B-9: Ford retires the side in order, striking out Clay Ertel for the final out to seal the deal.

Houston Astros (23-5) @ Montreal Expos (18-10). Houston can clinch at least the number one seed with a victory. Houston bookends the game with 5 run innings in a 12-9 victory. The Astros have now won 11 straight.

Reading Phillies (15-13) @ Tucson Toros (13-15). Reading could clinch a playoff spot with a win and help. Tucson is on the outside looking in but could still either make the playoffs or end up relegated. The Toros help their cause with a 12-5 victory.

Oklahoma City 89ers (13-15) @ Denver Bears (12-16). Oklahoma City wins a tight 2-1 game, they led 2-0 into the 9th as a solo home run by Woody Bell made it tight but the Bears were unable to follow that with anything.

Hawaii Islanders (12-16) @ Waterbury Indians (11-17). A loss almost certainly dooms the Indians to relegation. Hawaii scored 3 in the 2nd and they hold on for a 5-3 victory.

Portland Beavers (16-12) @ Tulsa Oilers (13-15). Portland can clinch a playoff spot with a victory. Tulsa has other ideas as they take a 7-1 lead into the 9th. Portland threatens in the 9th as they score 4 to get to within 7-5 with 2 outs and the bases loaded but a ground out ends their threat as Tulsa wins 7-5.

Indianapolis Indians (13-15) @ Omaha Royals (14-14). The Indians get a 6 hit shutout from Richard Hoban (6-4) for a 2-0 victory. The Royals may fall out of playoff position.

Eugene Emeralds (21-7) @ Vancouver Mounties (12-16). The Emeralds can clinch the league title with a victory. A Vancouver victory would relegate Waterbury. The Emeralds only need a 3 run home run from Eli Grba in a 3-1 victory. They break out the champagne as they have clinched the title and earn promotion to the IL.

Iowa Oaks (13-15) @ Spokane Indians (13-15). Spokane keeps the lead all game and hangs on for a 5-3 victory. Once getting within 2 runs Iowa didn't get another runner on base so the lead was never in danger.

Phoenix Giants (19-9) @ Tacoma Cubs (14-14). Phoenix has clinched the number 1 seed in the playoffs. A Cubs' victory would move them in to the 4 seed. The Giants show no mercy with a 9-3 victory to keep that 4 seed up for grabs going into the final game.

Birmingham A's (11-17) @ Montgomery Rebels (15-13). A Birmingham victory saves them and relegates Columbus, that would also eliminate Montgomery from playoff contention. San Diego Padres (22-7) @ Pittsburgh Pirates (25-4). The Pirates can clinch the league title and automatic promotion with a victory. This game features two of the top pitchers in the league as San Diego sends Bobby Bolin (11-1, 2.07) out against Phil Niekro (13-1, 1.71). All the hype about the pitchers and the Pirates win with their offense, 13-4, to clinch the league title and promotion to the MLB next season.

Tidewater Tides (5-24) @ Cleveland Indians (22-7). A victory by Tidewater clinches safety. The Tides take a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the 9th. They are unable to seal the deal as 3 singles and 4 walks lead to a 3 run inning (with the game winning run being walked home) as the Indians win 4-3.

Have a couple setting issues to address after my series of work trips are over (hopefully end of this week).

I completed this season and will post the final results for what teams are getting promoted and relegated.

Want to change up the scheduling so all leagues will start and end on the same schedule.

May need to tweak the financials as well.

In a season or two I am going to change this up a bit by taking over team and following that progress. Once I make sure the finances are stable.

Playoffs

MLB
New York Mets @ Baltimore Orioles
Tom Seaver (8-1, 2.78 in regular season) allows only 2 hits as the Orioles shut down the Mets 3-1.

San Francisco Giants @ St. Louis Cardinals
Don Sutton (9-2, 226 in regular season) shuts out the Giants though allowing 7 hits and walking 5 as the Cardinals win 2-0.

IL
Montreal Expos @ Washington Senators
A pitchers' duel that would be tied 1-1 through 9 innings. In the bottom of the 10th Washington would put runners at the corners with 1 out. On a 3-2 pitch right fielder Bubba Morton would rip the ball deep to center for the second out but it would be deep enough to bring home the winning run. Washington wins 2-1.

Boston Red Sox @ Kansas City Royals
The Royals would lead 4-2 in the 8th when Henry Gomez would single home Juan Beniquez to get the Red Sox to within 4-3. The next batter would strike out to end the inning. In the top of the 9th the fist two hitters would strike out before the final hitter grounds out to end the game as Kansas City wins 4-3.

AA
Hawaii Islanders @ Indianapolis Indians
Hawaii scores 2 in the top of the 1st. Indianapolis scores 3 in the bottom of the first. The Indians would add another run in the 6th and go on to a 4-2 victory.

Rochester Red Wings @ Louisville Colonels
Louisville wins easily 8-1.

PCL
Denver Bears @ Asheville Tourists
Denver jumps on the Asheville starter (Jesse Huggins, 7-3, 2.06 in regular season) to score 6 runs in the first three innings, aided by three home runs and they coast to a 6-2 victory to move the the final.

San Jose Bees @ Shreveport Braves
San Jose does not treat their hosts well as starter Wayne Simpson allows only 1 run on 1 hit in 7.1 innings of work as they win 7-1.

EL
Red Springs Twins @ Aberdeen Pheasants
Aberdeen pounds out 11 runs in an 11-6 victory.

Visalia Mets @ Reno Silver Sox
The game goes to extra innings tied 3-3. In the bottom of the 13th with 1 out and runners on the corners a squeeze bunt works perfectly and Reno wins 4-3.

SOUL
Decatur Commodores @ Burlington Senators
Burlington leads 3-0 in the 6th when right fielder Michael Barden hits a two run home run to get Decatur back to 3-2. In the top of the 8th Decatur would get a runner on 3rd with one out but would not be able to get him in; they would not threaten in the 9th. Burlington wins 3-2.

Duluth-Superior Dukes @ Appleton Foxes
Appleton would win 4-2 but never really be in trouble as Duluth-Superior would not get a runner to second after they pulled back to within 4-2.

TL
Greenwood Braves @ Greenville Red Sox
Greenville jumps out early and often as they cruise to a 12-1 victory.

Oneonta Yankees @ Shelby Senators
Oneonta scores 5 in the 1st and they jeep on pounding as they win by a touchdown, 16-9. They hit 6 home runs in the game.

CALL
Winter Haven Red Sox @ West Palm Beach Expos
Winter Haven wins a close game 4-2.

Geneva Pirates @ Cocoa Astros
Geneva gets help from a 4 run 5th inning on their way to a 6-1 victory.

CARL
Dayton Dragons @ Frederick Keys
The game is tied 2-2 through 6 and a half innings but Frederick breaks it open in the bottom of the 7th with 4 runs on 4 hits and a pair of walks as they go on to win 6-3.

Tampa Bay Rays @ Newark Co-Pilots
Newark would lead 4-1 going into the 8th inning. In the top of the 8th with 2 outs and 2 men on Tampa third baseman Milton Jordan would take an 0-2 pitch and line it over the right field wall for a game tying three rune home run. The game would go into extra innings tied 4-4. In the top of the 11th reliever John Hurley would have control issues and walk the first two men he faced. The next two hitters would single, each bringing home a run and Tampa would lead 6-4 going into the bottom of the 11th. With two outs a walk and a single would put the tying run on and bring up the potential winning run but a ground out to second would end the game as Tampa wins 6-4.

MIDW
Billings Mustangs @ Salt Lake City Bees
Salt Lake City starter Bill Denehy (8-1, 3.54 in regular season) would lead his team to a 5-1 victory as he would go the distance, allowing only 1 run on just 4 hits.

Bristol Tigers @ Great Falls Giants
Donald Camy would throw a complete game 4 hit shutout in a big 12-0 Great Falls victory.

In the bottom of the 6th San Jose would score 4 runs on 4 hits and a walk to take a 6-5 lead. EL
Reno Silver Sox @ Aberdeen Pheasants
Aberdeen wins 8-2 to earn promotion.

SOUL

A 2 run home run by Paul Ratliff gives Appleton a 2-0 lead in the 4th. Appleton loads the bases in the top of the 7th with 2 outs but a ground out ends that threat. The game is scoreless through 6 innings. In the top of the 7th Joe Hague hits a two run home run to give Great Falls a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the 9th with two men out Manny Trillo singles to keep hope alive for Salt Lake City. Del Unser takes a 1-1 pitch and homers to center to tie the game 2-2. The game goes to extra innings tied 2-2. In the top of the 11th Great Falls load the bases with two outs but Pete Cappeli strikes out to end the threat. May look to take over a mid level team next season and then will change this up a bit in terms of the focus.

I have taken over the Atlantic City Surf. They were 15-15 in the 9th league (Carolina League) last season.

My owner wants:
Near .500 ball
Upgrade at second base
Improve team defense
Acquire a top player

Current Players (Active and Reserve)

P Harold Boggs - I don't have a lot of confidence in this 20 year old; he was on the reserve and doesn't seem to be able to hit the side of a barn in terms of control.

P Charlie Hudson - A 20 year old lefty that we have signed through 1972. Started 13 games last season and was 6-4 with a 3.32 ERA. Has a decent fastball and good slider. About 8 strikeouts per 9 innings but walks quite a few.

P Frank Lolich - A 24 year old right hander that was back on reserve after starting 1 game and lasting just 3 innings and giving up 6 runs. He would need resigned but I have no intention of doing so.

P Keith Trahan - A 34 year old right handed vet. He started 15 games and was 4-3 with a 2.98 ERA last season. He does nothing spectacularly but seems very dependable. He is signed through the 1971 season.

P Richard Turner - A 20 year old reserve player. He may become a dependable option and will want to give him a chance. Will need to resign him first.

P Ronald Clark - A 19 year old reserve player who appeared in 2 games in relief last season. Nothing stands out about him. Would need to resign him if I want to keep him.

P Thomas Ferraro - A 25 year old reliever who appeared in 13 games last season. He had trouble as he allowed 31 hits in 18.0 innings. Very underwhelming. He is under contract through 1971.

P Wayne Holsopple - A 21 year old reliever who appeared in 5 games last season. He was 0-1 with 1 save and a 4.32 ERA. I would need to resign him if I want to keep him .

P Q.P. Lowe - A 25 year old right handed reliever who appeared in 18 games but did not show well. He was 3-5 with 4 saves and a 6.23 ERA. Nothing stands out about his pitches or skills. I would need to resign him to keep him but I am not putting that at the top of my list of things to do.

P Willie Richardson - A 23 year old right handed reliever who in only on the reserve squad. He had a mediocre fastball and slider and no control. He is under contract through the 1971 season.

P Danilo Rivas - A 35 year old lefty reliever. He appeared in only 6 games in 5.1 innings and allowed 4 hits and no runs. He seems average at best for this level but provides depth. I would have to resign him to keep him.

P Kenneth Van Bell - A 20 year old right hander who appeared in 6 games out of the pen last season. He has an okay fastball and splitter but that is all. I would need to resign him to keep him.

P Fernando Vega - A 20 year old right hander who was only in the reserve squad. I would be tempted to resign him to give him a chance if possible, he needs resigned to be kept.

C Dale Darnell - A 21 year old right handed hitting catcher. He started every game and hit .245 with 15 runs scored and 13 RBI's. I would need to resign him to keep him.

C James Frensley - A 21 year old right handed hitting catcher. He appeared in 15 games last season and was 2 for 12 at the plate. He would need resigned to be kept.

1B Bobbye Beckner - A 28 year old right handed hitting first baseman. He started 8 games last year and hit .233 with 1 home run and 2 RBI's in those games. He has a decent eye it seems. I would need to resign him to keep him.

2B Gene Clines - A 23 year old right handed hitting second baseman. He started 29 of the 30 games last year. He hit .283 with 2 home runs and 15 RBI's. He does a good job of putting the ball in play. I need to resign him and he is near the top of my list of things to do.

2B Alsxis Corro - A 21 year old right handed hitting second baseman. He played in just 5 games last season and was 0 for 4. Nothing stands out about him. Would need to resign him to keep him.

3B Dick K Smith - A 25 year old right handed hitting third baseman. He started 27 games and played in every game last season. He hit .290 with 15 runs scored, 2 home runs and 20 RBI's. He looks like a solid player for this level and I want to resign him for next year.

SS Pedro Gonzalez - A 32 year old right handed hitting shortstop. He started every game last season; playing 20 games at short, 8 at first and 2 at second. He hit .328 with 18 runs scored, 3 home runs and 17 RBI's. He does a great job at putting the ball in play. I need to resign him to keep him.

SS Jerry Robinson - A 23 year old right handed hitting shortstop. He played in 27 games and started 14 last season; he split time between second, third and short. He hit .254 with 2 home runs and 10 RBI's. He also does a good job putting the ball in play. He needs resigned to be kept.

SS Albert Strane - A 23 year old right handed hitting shortstop. He was only on the reserves. Looks like a weak hitter but does have speed. Would need to resign him to keep him and might just to add some speed off the bench.

LF Fabien Mang - A 21 year old left handed hitting left fielder. He started 8 games and played in 9. He was 7 for 28 in his limited time. He is not signed beyond this past season.

LF Albert Holland - A 23 year old left handed hitting left fielder. He started 26 games last season. He hit .297 with 19 runs scored, 3 home runs, 16 RBI's and stole 7 bases. He strikes out too often but has greate speed; he needs to get more than 7 stolen bases. I need to resign him to keep him and plan on it.

CF Jackie Adams - A 21 year old right handed hitting center fielder. He started 8 games (only games he played in). Hit only hit .097 (3 for 31) in his time. He had a bad bat but is very fast. I will explore other avenues before resigning him.

CF Joe Solimine - A 26 year old left handed hitting center fielder. He started ever game, splitting time between first base and the outfield. He hit .302 with 15 runs scored, 4 home runs and 17 RBI's. Solid player that I would like to resign.

RF Tom Robson - A 24 year old right handed hitting right fielder. He started every game last season. He hit .303 with 23 runs scored, 9 home runs and 29 RBI's. While he strikes out a lot he also has the most pop on the team. I need to resign him.

Free Agency has started.

My first action is going after the second base upgrade the owner wanted. I am aiming for a player that was in the Texas League last season. I know it is a reach but maybe I can promise him the world (in relation to our league). That got derailed quickly as the Cleveland Indians offered him a contract.

I find a 28 year old second baseman, Bill Scripture. He is slow but may have a little pop in his bat. I went with a high offer, much higher than my highest priced player so fat (60K per year for 2 years). He will think it over.

I also don't like my current situation behind the plate so I pursue a 30 year old right handed hitting catcher, Lloyd Flodin. He looks solid all around for our level. I offer him 65K per year for 2 years.

Those contracts may handcuff me but if I can add two players who are both above our level it could help us move into potential promotion range.
