hey just because we were first doesn't mean we stopped.

BTW saw an interesting stat this AM.
Three of the top four CFP teams announced last night have AD budgets over $125MM. Clemson's is $78MM.

Yeah, at the end of the day it doesn't matter where a team is ranked now. But the committee does suffer from making themselves look incompetent and eroding trust in the process, which I think is a pretty big negative, even if eventually it all rights itself on the field.

There's a rumor that Chad Morris is Beamer's replacement. Official announcement after the regular season ends.

I know I know, Baylor offense, but Corey Coleman is awesome. 5'11, but so strong and the way he attacks the ball in the air - is Steve Smith too aggressive a comparison? (I initially thought Crabtree, but Crabtree was a lot bigger.) Smith probably is too strong a comparison for anyone, but give me the productive guy over a DGB/Breshad Perriman/De'Runnya Wilson/Demarcus Robinson any day.

I know he's a true freshmen, I know true freshman are idiots most of the time, especially QB's. I know there are a LOT of problems at Mizzou. I mean, a metric crapload of problems on the offensive side of the ball.

But the kid struggled to complete screen and swing passes. I'm simply stunned at how badly Pinkel has screwed up his QB depth. Option A is now suspended for the year. I talked openly about how I was stunned Option A was picked over anyone and then I see Option B. Now I know.

Option B may be an automatic first round pick in the NFL draft after two more years of college ball (I don't see it, but it's early, that's a long term prediction I'll wait on). Right now Option B looks a lot like Option A. Where the hell is Option C?

Options C-M transferred and committed elsewhere when we had a potential SEC All conference QB and his back-up future NFL QB on the roster.

Option C transferred, committed to BYU, then went to JUCO ball, then opened his recruitment up again. I think he is kicking himself in the ass, but I am happy we don't have him. I think he is a problem in the making.

Baylors true freshman QB didn't have many problems. Wow.

But only beating K State by 7? That hurt the eyes.

#8 ranked Coastal Carolina visits Gardner-Webb today in probably the easiest game left on their schedule. Hopefully Coastal's defense shows up today and makes life tough for GW.

I've said repeatedly that every school in America could be on probation, because everyone cheats. That said, today Idu put Clemson against any other major program in the country regarding recruiting ethics. CDS makes it clear, if he catches you, you are terminated with cause and he will state in the announcement that you were terminated for recruiting violations.

It's still happens, but it's hid from him.

So you don't have to worry that he'll ever bolt and leave for a job with the Patriots then.

I don't think he's a saint, but Dabo seems like a pretty genuine guy to me. Some guys (Bobby Bowden etc) have mastered the folksy aw shucks persona with the media, but I don't get a sense anything from Dabo is an act.

It doesn't really matter, but why was that an unsportsmanlike penalty at the end of the Dalvin Cook run? The defender first made contact at the 4 yard line. Is he just supposed to let him score?

Great 2nd half of afternoon games... Clemson, TCU, Iowa, even Houston all in danger of losing their 1st game. I wrote off Oklahoma State as a CFP contender after some lackluster early season wins, and I still wouldn't really buy them if they beat TCU in a shootout, but this has been an impressive defensive performance. Also, speaking of teams I'd written off early, how about UNC? If they win out, and can beat a #1 Clemson team in the ACC title game could they have a shot at the playoff? Probably about the same chance as Iowa right now.

Has been some crazy games. Floria nearly losing to Vandy at home was something. Can't believe the TCU score. Lots of things shaking up. Clemson really needs to get it together to pull this game out.

I love that play. I've always wondered why people let themselves get tackled in situations like that. I get when you're suddenly tripped up or reaching for the plane, but otherwise there's no reason you should go down with possession of the ball in that situation.

Was at daughter's recital but kept up on my iphone. Got to see some (not so good) youtube replays of it so far, will catch it again at some halftime show.

RB Alex Collins becomes only the 3rd SEC RB to rush 3 straight 1,000 yard seasons. He joins Darren McFadden and Herschel. TBH - Alex doesn't seem to have the breakout speed of DMAC and am a little surprised at his success. But DMAC has shown that college success does not translate automatically in the pros. Looking forward to seeing AC get his shot in the NFL.

Scoring against Indiana is like walking against a light breeze. The Hoosiers only hope is that teams forget they have to score.

For what it's worth I've been saying for 3 years that Williams was the better running back but he got hurt before the season started. He's probably late 2nd/early third talent.

McFadden has just been injury plagued but I wouldn't call him a bust. He will probably end his career with 6k yards and at least 10 years in the league.

And a reminder of what I said after everyone was up in arms after the Bama game. Bret might have a 2 cent brain/mouth but I like him as a coach because he takes chances to win the game. Sometimes it backfires but I enjoy it more than the years of Nutt playing to not lose a game. I'm was happy either way the 2 pt conversion went tonight because at least he showed confidence in the offense to go for 2 on a night when the defense gave up over 9 yards a play to Ole Miss.

That TD call at end of MSU/Nebraska was hideous, and has potential massive implications on the playoff selections. I'm not a MSU fan, but I'm pretty ticked about this right now.

MSU gets absolutely hosed to lose the game. The Nebraska WR runs 20 yards out of bounds and then comes back in to make the winning TD catch.

I'm obviously not a big Spartan supporter, but that was the blown call of the year. Did they just not know the rule?

MSU would own all tie-breakers at 11-1. They still control their own destiny, so to speak.

How many teams have joined D1 football in recent years? Half dozen or so? More?

I'm asking because maybe the problem I see with HS football on a weekly basis -- rapid expansion of teams contributing to a woeful shortage of competent officials on game night -- might be starting to bite the NCAA a bit too.

Bama demolition. Question might be whether Henry gained enough ground to make the Heisman a dogfight.

I get why it is the case where the SEC West race is concerned, but it is odd to hear that Bama was helped by the Ole Miss loss. Any other scenario and you'd think it would look bad that the team they lost to just picked up their third loss.

Strange story. Hilarious if really true.

Emergencies only: Oxford PD asks fans to stop calling 911 to report Arkansas QB | FOX Sports
Quote:
Arkansas senior Brandon Allen had a career performance on the road in Oxford, Miss., on Saturday. Just how good was the Razorback quarterback in his final game against the Rebels? He had the locals dialing 911.

The Oxford Police Department apparently received so many calls, it felt obligated to send out this tweet:
Asking us to kick the Arkansas QB out of the stadium is not a legit reason to dial 911. #ARKvsMISS

The much-maligned Allen played so well, he not only shed the criticism of his clutch ability, he destroyed it. Allen finished 33 of 45 for 442 passing yards with six touchdowns and the game-winning two-point conversion in a 53-52 victory in overtime vs. the No. 18 Rebels.
