How was that a fumble if the ground caused it?

Well, the game is closer, but I'm not sure that It's any less fun/boring than the first one.

I don't think the QB's are making the adjustments that they need to in the rain.

I'm glad they're calling it like this. The last game was way too much bullshit and not enough football. Of course, the rain might determine this one.

McCarron is showing no ability to find a second option. He's going to get killed in the second half if he keeps looking down his throws.

The ground can't cause a fumble when the play ends. So, if the player was down at that point, it's not a fumble. But since the only thing touching the ground were his feet and his hand...it's still a live play.

Starting to worry Cincy might not even be able to score. Game broke perfectly to their advantage and they're getting torn up by a third string RB.

I understand that the refs throw the flag whenever the head is touched on a catch, and that they are probably told to do that, but that WR ducked his head after he turned. That should not be a penalty.

Well, except they have a QB that isn't very good.

I think he's at least an NFL starter talent given what I've seen this year from other teams.

He's dropped the ball twice, thrown an INT and has 59 yards passing at halftime. He has potential, but he's not ready fr the playoffs.

Maybe something magical will happen in the second half, but it looks like another year of what might have been. Three of the playoff losses are on Marvin, but Palmer, last year and this year are just bad injuries at the wrong time. Generally, teams don't win playoff games with inexperienced backup QBs.

So if it's not a TD, then do they waive off the flag for celebrating?

It's probably best to run really well coming out of the half and then decide to throw

Simple rule. Two or more celebrating is a 15 yd penalty. They all know that rule.

Yeah, and it happens all year long. Every week. They'll let guys go for a couple seconds. It's not like it goes on and on and on. That's when they've been flagging it this year.

Pretty much the definition of the aftermath of every NFL play.

Not when it's two or more guys doing the same choreographed celebration. Dupree has to know that as soon as he starts the same dance as the scorer it's going to be flagged.

I think the rule is too restrictive, but it's clear.

I know this is two years in a row where they are missing key players and I know they won't do it but I wonder can a coach be fired if he makes the playoffs five years? Bengals make the playoffs on their talent and then lose on their coaching.

Not when the owner has to pay 2 coaches. He'll never get fired.

If Pittsburgh holds on for this, in Cincinnati, it's going to be all about the injuries and coaching. It'll be "we lost so many guys." It'll never be the other team (especially Pittsburgh) was the better team and executed better.

16 points might as well be a 30 point lead if they are able to put this one in the end zone.

You think Pitt wins with Landry Jones as QB?

I think that McCarron is twice the QB Landry Jones is. I also remember that our starting QB was out 4 weeks this year too. Hell Heath Miller was almost pressed into service as the emergency QB. The Bengals were the healthiest team until they played the Steelers. Meanwhile the Steelers have been dinged up since week 1 and been given virtually no credit for overcoming those injuries.

Well, if nothing else, Boomer Esiason gets to say he was the last QB to win a game for the Bengals in the playoffs.

Yes, but in this game Ben is playing and that makes a huge difference. As to McCarron being a lot better, he has four starts and can't do anything other than throw to the first receiver he sees. He may have potential, but he's not good yet.
