I'm kinda bored with this again and text simming in general, but I do miss playing. I just don't have the time to get invested in a real story, so I think what I'm going to do now is working a 3-4 year storyline where I follow a few programs rebuilding efforts and see how things pan out for them.

I've been avoiding doing any player editing for a while, but since it doesn't really matter and I'm really only playing for sandbox reasons, I'm just going to edit a few existing rosters of a few programs - but naturally I haven't decided where to do that yet or what I'd like to do beyond just sandboxing and following the programs and see how they perform over the period of time.

I think I figured out my next storyline. This UConn women winning 100 straight games makes me wonder how good a team could be. Even in an era of parity. What would the greatest team of all-time look like? The FBCB engine does a fairly good job of regulating things so there isn't a lot of wild unchecked dynasties that happen in-game unedited from what I've seen.

Plus, it's just the nature of college basketball's insanity I think that you don't see too many men's dynasties a la UCLA or what UConn is doing on the women's side the past few decades.

So what if we built a program that was in that image. Eventually, we'd work on getting another counterweight to them a la UConn-Tennessee, but in the interim, the focus is on one program right now.

Of course, because it's me, we're going to probably pick a program that's not already doing great, but find a program that essentially rises from the ashes and then becomes a dominant player for whatever reason, at least that'll be the storyline anyway whether it works or not, I will have absolutely no idea.

But I feel like this is just the storyline I need to get me immersed into this. Then I'll have players to follow into the pros. But I'm simming a bit too slowly right now or simming seasons to no real aim and I'd like to fix it.

Instead of picking some down on its luck program to start, I actually went searching for the program with the most Final Four appearances without a title. I figured that was a good place to start. The answer? In this dynasty, that's TCU (9 Final Fours, no titles). But nothing appealed to me about having a TCU be a dominant storyline to be honest.

The next program with the most Final Fours with a title? UNC (7), now that's a storyline I can get behind. So we'll start with UNC first.

2042-43 SEASON RECAP
UNC ran the table until their 8th Final Four appearance (and 1st in 20 years) where they lost to Kansas. Texas won the National title.

2043-44: Navy will be the next program to get a bit of an injection. I moved all of the academies besides Coast Guard into the Big 12 last season from the AAC, but they're the only major conference program now to never have had an All-American.

2043-44: Navy and North Carolina both make the Final Four undefeated, but get pitted against each other in a cruel twist of bad bracketing by the committee.

Maryland, also a top-seed and 6-seed Tennessee are the other two teams to make it to the Final Four.

Navy wins the National Title, running the table and UNC gets denied again despite back-to-back Final Four appearances. They're cursed.

The other stuff I want to figure out is, tempo and putting together teams that do something really well. FBCB doesn't have coaches that only emphasize 3pt play or lock down defense or the Syracuse zone or a Princeton-style. You need to play in a competitive online league to get a semblance of that.

But I'd like to model it and see what kinds of distinctions we get, so I'm going to pick a few programs and have them running a certain system or at least having personnel that can operate in a particular kind of system so that hopefully the game adapts.

We'll have some teams that are just lock down defenders across the board, teams that are full of dudes who just shoot the three ball to the peril of other things and perhaps some other varieties and then see what that ends up bringing us.

All four of our feature teams made the tournament in 2044-45. Navy and UNC again made the Final Four. UNC beat Navy for their only loss of the year thus far in a regular season game that must've been a hell of a barn burner.

Navy beat North Carolina in the national title game. UNC is apparently cursed.

With Navy and UNC losing a combined 3/5ths of the all-league 1st team, I imagine next year will probably look different in terms of dominance.

UNC is 113-3 in the last 3 seasons and has ZERO national titles to show for it. Which is kind of hilarious. It's like UConn without the rings.

Navy is 77-1 in the last two years and are now back-to-back national champions after being an also-ran for years.

Navy's undefeated season last year (39-0) was only the 2nd time ever that a team ran the table. Fordham did the same in 2018.

Whenever I try to play the pro game, I just find myself kinda bored with the pace of it. 2044 I expanded the NBA by two teams for the first time in two decades. The New Jersey Dragons and Anaheim Seals will join the eastern and western conferences respectively.

I'm kicking around doing a thing where I try to win in all of the non-NBA leagues I have loaded first and then letting my experienced coach head to the NBA David Blatt style and see how that works out like a journeyman or whatever. Given it might take a whole career before he'd be able to pull that off, it might be interesting, but mostly I'm curious to explore the players that end up in these far-off leagues more than even what's going on in the NBA.

There is a lot of money in everyday fiction, and this book teaches you what it takes to win. Whether you've never played fantasy sports before, or are seasoned veterans looking to break into everyday fantasy basketball, this book is right for you.
