That's true, Alf, but there are times when things are not in your control. It's hard to fault you for having a tough year when the #1 and #2 QBs are injured, the #1 and #2 WRs are injured, the majority of the D-line.

I've read every year of this dynasty. I find it a tad bit amusing when you consider 3 losses a terrible season. But look on the bright side. You have a great young QB to build around in Marzullo.

Hopefully we'll end the season with only 2 losses but after winning a big game in Front of TV1 vs Wisconsin, even a 9-2 season can't be considered a good result.
Things have changed in Indiana. Sorry for the lack of posting, I have family at home as my wife is expected to gave birth anytime soon now, so computer access at home is very limited. |

Week 12Recruits Lose 2. Sign 1. - Kenyon Newton, a center from Langley High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania C Newton is ranked #901 and #48 Center. He is a brilliant student, but his football level is pretty average (78 --). Already in : QB, C Still needed : RBx2, FB, TE, WRx2, G, T, K, DEx2, DT, CB, S Our Game : #22 Indiana (7-2) (-13) at Michigan (5-4) on TV5 We need to rebound today with a strong victory. Otherwise we’ll look at the playoffs on TV this season. Well, we llok silly to play the 3-4 as they still manage to pass over our defense and lead 0-3 after a 7 minutes drive. 6 plays and 2 minutes later, QB Clayton (who has been re-inserted in the starting lineup) passes to WR Baker for a TD : 7-3. DT Cabrera seemed to suffer a serious injury on our second defensive drive… Damn it ! And they conclude their drive with a TD : 7-10. The next drive sees a score again as RB Wittich runs it in : 14-10. Every drive has seen a score so far today. Gladly, we manage to force the first punt of the game just after that and are nearly FG position already thanks to RB Wittich punt return. We even went for it on a 4th down, and RB Wittich found the end zone a few plays later : 21-10. Halftime. First drive of Q3 saw RB Wittich score his 3rd TD of the day : 28-10. Cool ! However, later in the second half, Clayton is intercepted for a defensive TD and C Gullett seem to suffers a serious injury too.. Early in Q4, they score again and our lead is only 28-23. Finally, QB Clayton scrambled on a long difficult drive for what I hope is the winning TD : 35-23. They score another FG and later we score another RB Wittich TD run to finish : 42-26. Game Summary Code:
Indiana Stats Code:
Injuries We finally lost C Gullett and DT Cabrera for the rest of the season… Around the Big 10 - Illinois 31-21 Penn State - Iowa 26-14 Ohio State - Michigan State 38-9 Purdue - Wisconsin 52-7 Minnesota Last edited by Alf : 07-04-2003 at 07:43 AM. |

He does seem to dance around in the hole a bit... he'll have to learn to run more in the north-south direction to become a good pro.

Week 13Time Management : 8 D-. 7D. Recruits Lose 3. Sign 2. - Bernard O'Donnell, a fullback from Mascoma Valley Regional High School in Canaan, New Hampshire FB O’Donnell comes unranked ans scouted as 64+. Well, at least he can read… - Herman Anderson, a kicker from Caldwell County High School in Princeton, Kentuck K Anderson comes unranked at 74+ and is a genius. He looks like a 4 year starter for us. Already in : QB, FB, C, K Still needed : RBx2, TE, WRx2, G, T, DEx2, DT, CB, S Our Game : #22 Indiana (8-2) (-18) vs Purdue (3-7) We need to win big today as we sit at BCS #25 position just outside the playoffs. Even at 9-2, we are not sure to make it to the post-season. First drive, 7 minutes, missed FG by Cash. Damn it. Our defense finally awakes after several games of silence as CB Sonnier intercepts and return a ball deep in their 20. RB Wittich runs it in straight away. Then DB Crane also makes an INT. Could this be an easy game today ? A 50 yard TD pass later on a QB Clayton to WR BEtram pass, we think so : 14-0. And another one : 21-0. We are still in Q1 though. Q2 starts with a RB Wittich TD run : 28-0. RB Wittich is on his way to break several BIG 10 records and maybe a National record (TDs scored). Halftime comes at 35-3 with another TD pass vs a Purdue FG. In Q3, RB Wittich returns a punt for another TD and I’ll quiksim. Game ends on a 55-3 victory ! Game Summary Code:

Is 9-2 going to be good enough for the playoffs?
EDIT: because 9-2 will only be good for 4th in the conference, right?

very true. I usually have my 11 or 12 recruitings in the fold at this point. one positive: more scholarships for the future! At this point i think i'd just get stingy with the offers, and save a bunch to spread over the next 2 years. |

9-2 should be enough for a playoff spot but we are going to face a big school in Round 1
As for recruiting, I am a bit rusty and I've got no "Blue Chip" recruit on target. I'll listen to cthomer5000 and save scholarships for the future. |

Week 15Recruits lose 4. sign 1 - Melvin Ballard, a wide receiver from Bunn High School in Bunn, North Carolina WR Ballard is scouted as 57+ and is at best average. However, given how injuries strike us at WR, this is a must fill position. Already in : QB, FB, C, K, WR, WR Still needed : RBx2, TE, G, T, DEx2, DT, CB, S Our Game : off National Scene : Championship week B12 – Kansas 17-24 Texas A&M SEC – Florida 45-6 Alabama MAC – Marshall 58-60 Central Michigan (looks like an overtime game here) Next week We will be facing Rice and their undeafted team... 11-0 record. Week 16Recruits Walk-on week. We should have our recruits now…
- RB Heath is scouted as 48+, and comes as Vermont #3 player. Well, that’s it. - TE Gilmore comes at 49++ (by a lousy scout). A great student too. - WR Magee is a walk-on hopefully, because, well, he sucks. - OG Flores is a perfect student. Period. - OT Alston is scouted as 47+ and also a great scholarship player. - DE Moore is perfect student coming as a walk-on. - DT Bethel, just the same - CB Newsome : see above Already in : QB, RB, FB, TE, WR, WR, WR, C, G, T, K, DE, DT, CB Still needed : RB, DE, S – 1 position as we have 3 WRs Our Game : #20 Indiana (9-2) vs #3 Rice (11-0) (-7) on TV4 Glad we make it to the postseason, but this might come to an end even with all our starting offensive players back on the field (apart from QB Vallery of course). They drive first and have already scored after 2 minutes : 0-7. After 5 minutes, score is 0-14. First positive play for us comes with a DV Kitchens interception in our end-zone. Come on guys, let’s move forward. This drive comes to a bad end, bud on a 4th down, QB Clayton goes for it and we score on a TD pass to RB Wittich : 7-14 ! Q2 is pretty well balanced until we completely melt down and allow a late Q2 TD : 7-21. They even conclude with a short FG : 7-24 at halftime. Q3 starts as badly as Q1 as QB Clayton is intercepted. Later in Q3, I ma glad that we only concede a FG : 7-27. Penalties are killing us today, plus QB Clayton is intercepted again… DB Bergmann is once again making an interception and we are in FG range. Boom, QB Clayton passes to RB Wittich for the TD : 14-27. Damn it, QB Clayton is intercepted again while we were driving nicely. I thought we could make a comeback, but now it is very unlikely.Shortly after, we intercept them also, but with just over 5 minutes to play, that’s too late. And we let them score another TD for a final score of 14-34. Without QB Vallery, we are not a national contender. Game Summary Code:

Week 17Time Management : Final coaching blocks out to promising recruits. 2 more recruits : - Claude Nybo, a quarterback from Turlock High School in Turlock, California - Jessie Terrell, a fullback from Onalaska High School in Onalaska, Wisconsin - QB Nybo comes as a walk-on student, providing nice depth at QB - FB Terrell comes at 44++ and as I couldn’t recruit RBs, why not recruit FBs and then try to convert one of them to RB. What's been fun with this season is the drop in ratings that both Wisconsin and Northwestern has made. That's promising for the future if those two programs are declining...

TCY VC annoucement
CornHuskerly back in Indiana TCY VC :
Indiana TCY VC members are currently trying to revamp the Challenge by going back to the roots. We are trying to lure back former TCY VC players back in the mix either for a one shot season or more permanently. After being contacted by our special PR guy, CornHuskerly accepted to have another shot with the TCY VC. Now a little bit of history on his past performances with Indiana. CornHuskerly first shot at coaching in Indiana was with the 2012 season back in January 2002. He was the first coach to reach 7 wins in a season for the Hoosiers. At the time, his recruiting was questionned by former member bigjdotcom01. However, he did recruit Sedrick Barber who held many IU rushing records until this year and Erick Wittich. He also got 2 permanent LB starters in Ross Gaylor & James Reuter. Hi second tenure in 2016 lead to a lousy 4-7 record but recruits were awesome including 3 top 100. Amongst them were DE Lamont Abraham who ranks high in school sack records & S Byron Schulz. In 2020 , he managed to put us back on a winning record (6-5) after 4 miserable years with losing records. Recruit highlights were WR Michael Fonseca, our first good WR recruit and RB Laughing Larry McCord who still is on the scholl records book. 2023 is our last losing season (5-6) and that was mainly due to our poor recruiting the previous years(I forgot to recruit a kicker and we had none worthy...), and our QBs were horrible. CornHuskerly decided to redshirt promising QB Max Kirkwood for the future of IU. 2027 saw his redhirting of QB Kirkwood pay off as he was amongst the elite QBs in the nation. A 7-4 season where we lost by mall margins against NC State & Wisconsin.. His last year in 2031, he wnet into the playoffs beating Barrow in Round 1 and losing to the eventual and undefeated champion USC in Round 2. A great performance. So it is with great pleasure that we are proud to welcome him back for the 2040 season ! Good luck CornHuskerly ! |
