Mizzou loses at home last night by 10 to North Carolina-Central.

UNC-Central is not a bad program, but no way Mizzou envisioned losing that game.

End of the road for Kim Anderson has to be approaching.

I disagree about Anderson. He has the program pointed in the right direction. He is starting to get his guys and they are good enough to be top tier in the SEC.
Anderson is also a Stewart disciple.

I think Anderson has a few more seasons. The only way I could be wrong is the fact that Mizzou has an AD in his 2nd year. Anderson was hired under the previous AD.

They will struggle to get to 12 wins this year. If they finish 12-20, he stays? After 2 seasons of 9 and 10 wins?

I think so. Last season he gets a pass. He had some real knuckleheads on that team that were more concerned about weed and xbox. Anderson couldnt get rid of them because of the strife the campus was going through.
This offseason he got rid of them. And he has a couple nice freshmen to go with a couple sophomores.
Also, he is starting to get some kids.

He has 2 more seasons after this is my bet.

Ucla hanging tough in Rupp despite some one sided reffing and a 930 start. Not sure we can hang in the second. If Kentucky is the best team in the nation then it bodes well come March

Good win by the Bruins. Definitely makes a statement, though, that I will be curious to see if they can hold up.

Shaka Smart has his work cut out for him this season. The Longhorns have a ton of athleticism, but no point guard. In transition they look really, really good. But once the game slows to a halfcourt offense, they struggle.

Iowa refuses to play defense. Coach is calling the team out in the press.

We lose to UNO. 98-89.

Record 3-5.

Players only meeting.

What could go wrong?

Noticed they're finally playing well. Eddie Jordan finally paying off. Hope it lasts into the conference play situation, but really...any improvement for them is better than nothing.

They won't win many B1G games because they have such a lack of shooting talent, but Pikiell has them playing with a ton of effort. Killing it on the boards and on defense. Wouldn't be surprised if they knock off a ranked team or two if they catch them on a cold night.

Harvard beat Boston College last night 74-66 in a game where the Crimson only scored 5 points in the last 10 minutes of the game. The significance though is that it was Tommy Amaker's 179th win at Harvard, making him the school's all time winningest coach. Given Harvard's basketball history, that's not hugely impressive, except that Amaker has done it in just over 9 full seasons, while the previous record holder (his predecessor Frank Sullivan) coached 17 seasons at Harvard.

I forgot they have that guy from Stony Brook coaching them now.

No question he's done a heck of a job with that program post-Michigan. I think people expected him to be a stopover, but pretty cool that he's stayed and put his finger print on it and frankly...the whole Ivy has stepped its basketball game up in the last decade.

That's the big question. Romar hasn't always been an underwhelming coach. The early Husky teams were not loaded with clear-cut NBA talent - they played hard, and a number of guys developed well beyond their projections. They played good defense, and the freedom he gave them on offense worked.

Brain drain is probably part of it - Cameron Dollar and Ken Bone were likely the best teachers he's had on his staff. But they still played well after both left, at least for a while.

Recruiting got sideways for a bit as Romar got burned by chasing 5-star guys and not having good back-up plans. He finally got that turned around, but faced a nearly empty roster entering last season and a flood of youth. He also got burned in that nobody expected Chriss and Murray to be one-and-done when they were recruited.

I think a big factor has been the hand-checking rules and the emphasis on removing physical play on defense. Romar has been unable to adapt.

This is going to be ugly. Romar has been here long enough, and has enough local NBA alums in the basketball community that him getting fired could really put a chill on local recruiting. Best case scenario is him retiring, but who knows if he has the humility to do that? With MPJr on the way, I really doubt he's willing to forego coaching him and his younger brother.

But at the same time, enough is enough. Yeah, Washington doesn't have a great hoops history, and Romar is certainly their best coach of the modern era. But it's getting difficult to defend the underwhelming results. Markelle Fultz is a #1 draft pick talent, but facing an NIT berth (at best) the way things are going. This certainly would have been a much better team with Chriss and Murray (or even one of them), but there's still enough raw talent on the roster that they should be playing better than this.

This should be an attractive enough job to land a good young up-and-comer. Very good school, Power-5 conference, located in a talent hotbed - they should be able to find a good coach.

I wasn't sure if you forgot or if it was a tongue in cheek remark about Jordan's recruits finally winning some games. Figured I wouldn't give you shit just in case .

Honestly, I know Jordan was overmatched on the heels of the Rice fallout but their inability to ever rebound under him was what killed me the most. And now you have mostly the same guys leading the country in offensive rebounding under Pikiell...tells you all you need to know.

Arizona went into Mizzou Saturday morning (AZ time) without 2 of their top players (Trier and PJC), had their best player in foul trouble (only 8 pts) and won by 19. Not too shabby for a young team.

Forgot to post that Iowa won by 14 over Iowa State. Big win.

In a couple weeks, Iowa will be starting 2 6'9" 250 ib. freshmen. Cant wait.

Ugh. A game like today has to be the nail in the coffin for Kim Anderson. I'm sure they'll let him finish out the season, but they have got to make a change. This program is reaching the 'who cares' level of apathy amongst fans.

Well, since the team got called out by Coach, Iowa has been playing defense.
We just got done crushing UNI, 69-46.

We are missing Tyler Cook. He is back when the B1G season starts.

Iowa has 10 Freshmen or Sophomores on the team.

The future is bright.

For all of the talk about college basketball's regular season not being worth much, the matchups in the non-conference are tons better than the football season. Though the CFP era has made them a bit better than the dud BCS years and before.

Iowa has ripped off 4 straight wins including over Iowa State and UNI.

We beat North Dakota last night. Something happened during the game. Our coach and Peter Jok walked off after the game and refused to shake hands. The team followed them.

The Illinois/Missouri game was a really ugly game. No flow, tons of fouls, some atrocious shooting (mostly by Tigers) and much more a case of one team losing than the other team claiming the win.

Worse yet, watching this kept me from taking in Louisville vs Kentucky.

There's obviously a problem here and Coach K isn't going to deal with it. He needs to be suspended.

Coach K has NEVER been the class guy the media has portrayed him to be. This isn't the first time a Duke player has acted entirely inappropriately on the court and nothing ever happens to the guys who do this. Laetner stepped on a guy and it was ok.

The NCAA, ACC, Duke administrators and everyone else just enable the behavior.

This is 3 tripping incidents in a calendar year and it is really, really simple at this point. The ACC needs to step in and not only issue a suspension, but also make sure that both Duke and this piece of garbage know that if it happens again, his entire NCAA career is in jeopardy. He should have been suspended last year. Is coach K, the NCAA and the ACC going to wait until he actually injures someone before they do something?

Duke has suspended him for an "indefinite amount of time".

Guessing he's back for Louisville in 5 games.

Definitely didn't come from coach k since he was allowed to return to the game in the 2nd half.

The childish temper tantrum he threw should have been enough to sit him the rest of the game.

I think the kid has more problems then just tripping kids.
He is either a spoiled brat or he is mentally deficient somewhere.
That tantrum on the bench was hard to watch. And not something I would think a college aged person should throw.

Exactly. Kudos to whichever party told Coach K that the kid was getting suspended no matter what and that it would be a good idea if he did it.

It's shocking to me that so many college coaches refuse to do the right thing and then claim they are teachers.

I mean, when it's college football, I understand it. (disagree with it, but get it) You suspend a great player and you might not win and your job hinges on winning. Sucks, but I understand it.

Duke? Coach K is going nowhere. He's going to beat Elon with or without this kid. If he goes 0-3 or 0-5 during the suspension, it isn't like Duke is losing out on the tourney. Just unbelievable.

People may think I'm over the top for on field/court violence, but a guy like this should be a given a final warning and his career should be over if he doesn't get it. He's going to shred some guys ACL at some point. There is simply no place in athletics for this garbage.
